A Quiet Before a Storm?

Well, the actual Jubilee is still some days off and things seem kind of quiet in some ways. Yeah sure there are the usual something connected to moms announcements and the Travelist push (although I thought that was sort of dead in the water but ok, whatever).  Basically the announcement stuff which doesn't seem to have a whiff of connection to anything prior in some coordinated pattern.  Announcements and connections just seem to come and go so quickly here (paraphrasing Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz). But there are some interesting announcements from the other side of the pond which have come out recently like the only current working family on the balcony or that the staff will create some sort of ring of protection.  Or that the Tom Bower book is on the horizon.  Does it feel like the wind has shifted?  In the run up for the Jubilee, expect a flurry of articles about what might or might not happen behind the castle walls by assorted Royal Reporters, tie ...

Who Needs Who?

Tina Brown's new book mentions the idea that the British Royal Family need  Harry and Megan to come back and will bring some missing star power to the stage - Jubilee and more in the future.  Her words more or less. I've not read her book yet (just out) but the bits released so far don't seem to mention the fact that the country still has an heir in waiting of similar age (in theory, similar demographics).  Prince William. But do you think, therefore, her premise that Meghan and Harry are capable of bringing in the star power to a family/royal institution and that i...

Warm Up for the Games

Let the Games Begin - with Netflix in tow. I'm trying to think of how or what exactly can be shot and shown to the world?   When people sent in their applications, was the photography release for Netflix included? I can image there was something of a release - because the organization wants/needs publicity spread far and wide so they expect photos printed in papers and hopefully some scenes in the home country tv broadcasts.  But did it extend to Netflix level access? Will there be signs about a release as the audience walks into any event (turn back if you don't want to accept the release).  That may put some families in a bind - they would want to support their family member but maybe they also don't want to be part of the whole Netflix possibility for some personal reason like they don't have Netflix and wouldn't be able to see if they were included?  Or they don't want to be photographed? I don't know.  Maybe the planners already thought of it so ...
