 I hope to write a new blog post in the next couple of days.  Until then, here's a spot to discuss new developments in the Sussex saga. 

A brief snapshot: Katy Perry, in a sequined floor-length mermaid gown with a cape made from the American flag , in Iowa to support Hillary Clinton in 2015.  Perry looked more than a little out of place performing outdoors in the daytime, surrounded by modestly-dressed civilians in the mostly agricultural state.  Trump ended up winning Iowa 51.2% to 41.7%; Hillary's performance was the worst by a Democrat in the state since 1980.  Katy's glamorous presence was apparently not a plus. A different approach Another brief snapshot: George Clooney, then at the peak of his career, meets with Barack Obama in 2008 just as the future president's campaign was beginning to catch fire. "I told him I'd do whatever it takes to get him elected," Clooney told the press, "including staying the hell away from him if that was what he needed."  It's now been a full week since the official publication of "Finding Freedom," with a great deal of ink spilled about the book and the Sussexes new home in Montecito. Has the Sussex reputation benefitted from the publicity, or are they worse off now in public opinion than they were a week ago?

This is what happens when I take too long to write a post. My original idea - that Meghan and Harry should consider purchasing one of the " cheap old houses " popular on Instagram and fix it up as part of a reality series - seems to have been overtaken by events. Page Six is reporting today that Meghan and Harry already have a house in Santa Barbara, near Oprah and Ellen's pads, and in fact have been living there for at least six weeks. (This is not entirely unexpected; Harry's most recent hostage video had a different background than usual.) "This is the first home either of them has ever owned," writes the couple's PR agent via Page 6. "It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family - to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in." They could probably still be having complete privacy if the couple's PR team wasn't leveraging their real estate news in order to promote the new book "Finding Freed

Could it have been only a year ago that Meghan guest-edited the vaunted September issue of Vogue UK? Yup - it was the September 2019 issue of Vogue, Meg's "Forces for Change" issue. She was so pleased with the issue that she handed out notebooks embossed with the Forces for Change message , accompanied by handwritten notes in her trademark dreadful calligraphy. Fast forward twelve months - past a messy departure from the UK and a festival of lawsuits against the media.  Today the September 2020 issue of Vogue UK hit the stands. It focuses on Black activism, with a fold-out cover featuring 18 faces of influential Black celebrities. Meghan, apparently, is not among them.
