Just a few weeks ago, the Sussex saga was a bit dull. Over the past week, of course, it's exploded.
First there was Harry's ridiculous bus-top interview with James Corden, in which he hopelessly flubbed his scripted lines and flopped his arms about like a man who is accustomed to not being taken seriously.
Of course, stopping at the exterior location home of a long-dead sitcom and then asking, on camera, to use the bathroom is an indication of a man who should not be taken seriously.
It's a good thing the protocol-loving Queen Mother isn't around to see the Corden show. She might have asked for her inheritance back.
Rushing through his dialogue
Then there was a quick clip from Oprah's upcoming interview with the Sussexes. Meg is shown sitting silent, plastic-faced, in an unflattering dress, looking somewhat like a showroom dummy of herself.
Harry, meanwhile, is babbling on again like a man who is accustomed to not being listened to, as he again draws parallels between his wife with his mother. (John Lennon had a terrible habit of doing this as well; he mixed his mother's name with his wife's in the otherwise gorgeous love song Julia.)
"My biggest concern was history repeating itself," he says. "I'm really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can't begin to imagine what it must have been for her going through this process by herself all these years ago."
He's speaking prepared dialogue, but he's rushing through it like somebody is going to cut him off at any moment. Which probably tells us a little bit more than what we want to know about life at Sussex Manor.
Earrings from MbS
Then there was the revelation that the earrings Meg wore to a royal event in Fiji - along with that simple blue dress that was one of her few great fashion moments - were an unreported wedding gift from Saudi leader Mohammed bin Salman.
MbS, as he's referred to in the diplomatic community, is a controversial figure who was involved in the death of propagandist-not-journalist Jamal Khashoggi just three weeks earlier.
Wearing the earrings would have been bad enough style given the timing, but apparently Meghan lied about their provenance as well, saying they were "borrowed." (At the time, I believe, a Hong Kong jeweler took credit for loaning them to her.)
Receiving the earrings was not, quite frankly, improper, since MbS is a member of another Royal family.
But the timing of their public debut was awful, and the dishonesty about where they came from - was she lying just to the press? or also to the Royal staff assisting her? - was unsettling.
What else are we right about?
Of course, at this blog and at other non-sugar Meghan blogs, we've been saying for a long time that Meg is a liar.
We've also been saying for quite some time that she is a bully, information that is just beginning now to officially emerge from Kensington Palace, where an investigation is underway.
This raises the question: what else were we right about?
Yachting? Trevor? Corey? The hockey player? The dogs? Joseph Gordon-Giuliano? Meg's drug use? Doria's prison record? Meg's lack of a university diploma? Meg's real birthdate? Markus Anderson? Nicole?
Archie?
Comments
Oh my god thank you for posting the Camilla Long piece. I often love her opinion pieces, but wow, what do you think? I can’t tell if she actually sympathizes a bit w Megs in a Republic sort of way, or is encouraging them to unclench in a Charles II way, or wants William to throw down the nuclear hooker-plant-Archie megabomb to wipe out this insect, and then after that, address the style of monarchy.
So, it's not Scoobie or MM, but a once-removed friend of Harry's. Any thoughts on who it is?
Stepdad would kill our pets if we were 'bad', so I think they are capable of anything.
I love chilean reds, but never had chilean white wine. Is it dry? i like my wines quite dry.
S'pose that's why he's not in it very much?
*************
I saw that PW was also dressed by that same tailor. The person was asking if PW was the original target. Hmmm....
I may watch.
Lady C was extremely careful to not accuse MM of being involved with this for legal reasons, but she did bring the subject up.
I think Lady C would love to get a call from Scoobie. Just imagine what kind of info she could get from the brain-dead little weasel without him even knowing it.
What if that's Meg? Frankly she looks so bizarre. She isnot well . In past we have possible dog attack, knife giving, those eyes! What she is doing to her face. The Sybil pr rant. FAKE BABY. Pulling this while PP 99 in hospital. Queen is 94. That teapot story is coming.
Will she be resting comfortably somewhere for a few days?
Remember Harry expressing his dismay about the photos taken of Diana in the car during that 20th anniversary documentary? Well guess who hosted the US show that put those pics up?
Gayle King.
And the producer of that show is apparently the producer of this interview.
What a stupid tool Harry is.
Harry, Harry what a tool he us, lol.
My recommendations for those of you crazy enough to subject yourself to The Interview (in addition to wine or alcohol of your choice).
Wear a tiara.
You know the ones you can buy at the dollar store. I am sure Megs showed up for the interview wearing one, but Oprah made her take it off.
Myself, I will be watching my new favorite youtuber, Nicolas Fairford go visit his neighbor Tracey in Edinburgh and get a house tour of her beautiful Georgian house.
Don't think I can bear to listen to them whine on and on again for 5 mins, much less 2 hours.
Will eagerly look forward to reading about the highlights a few hours later after the broadcast.
Andrew
@swampwoman,
I love chilean reds, but never had chilean white wine. Is it dry? i like my wines quite dry.
I don't know; I *assume* that it is! I love Chilean reds, too, and decided to try a Chilean white. I'll preserve my decorum by indulging in a wine glass. If I actually had to *view" the program, I'd be sucking down rum from the bottle and yelling things like "Arrrrrr, it's the Sussex ship on the horizon. Hoist the red flag!"

“Candace Owens tweets she knew Markle and Harry would bolt to LA”
Philip knows all this and I hope he survives a few more years in peace with HM
“I have neither a psychology degree nor a working crystal ball but Meghan Markle is a type. I could see her coming from some distance. And that’s because I’m an American — and she is the dreaded Hollywood-kind.”
Her comments are scathing. She anticipates what will go on in the interview and explains why she won’t watch.

More at the link! A great takedown, with some brutal questions for MM at the end.
"Repeatedly, Tinseltown rejected her. Tonight’s two-hour appearance on US TV and its replay to millions worldwide is her revenge.
Not only against some of the studio bosses who dismissed her as another second-rate actress, but also against everyone else who failed to appreciate her immense talents.
Fixed firmly in her sights tonight is the Queen, the Royal Family and Britain’s establishment.
Like everyone else in Meghan’s self-centred world, their sin is to have rejected her wishes.
Like a Hollywood diva, she has cursed those who don’t understand that being the Duchess of Sussex was not enough."
My heart goes out to you and I hope you're well.
Queen won’t watch the program, will ignore it, and spend the upcoming week focused on work and scheduling more appearances.
Meanwhile the article also says:
A”friend of the couple” says it is mean of the Palace to say mean things about Megs because — here it comes, the big “excuse for all things” we have been waiting for: the source says Meghan was “in poor mental health for a lot of it” (while in the U.K.) and so says this friend, “it is incredibly dangerous for the palace to attack in this way” — Totally ignoring the fact it is Megs who has been attacking, Megs who set up this interview, and Megs who was horrible to staff and ruined lives and careers.
But now laughing partying merching grabbing Megs, Screaming and teapot-throwing Megs, Private jetting and $500,000 baby shower Megs, and Serena tennis trip and Misha Italian wedding and Vogue suck up Megs, and plotting plotting batting as eyes at William Megs and steel deathray eyes at Kate Megs, and glaring strong feminist Megs, and father-trashing Megs, and Decorating Megs, was just a weak fainting Megs with poor mental health who still managed to destroy a family and get a prince to turn his back on them.
Well, we knew she would just triple down on her usual poor-me pity party and whining.
It occurs to me again that she may use this opportunity to try to thoroughly destroy her dad once and for all, along with Harry’s. Thatvway, only the two Saint Mothers are left standing to share the stage : deceased Diana, and equally invisible, habit-hazy, “graceful” Doria.
And the funny part is, there is actually only one “silenced” woman in all this drama isn’t there?
The much-sold, endlessly-conjured Diana.
Labels them “the shy couple”
And offers a way to turn the front page into a free vomit bag with their photo.

Whew! This is getting dicey.
Well, I guess we will see more damaging information then...as it is too late to do any more video edits now...
https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/prince-harry-meghan-have-a-great-relationship-with-the-queen/
The article shows further efforts to increase chaos and dissension in ever-wider circles. Scobie reporting that Meghan has a good relationship with the Queen (breakfast time here and I'm choking over my cornflakes) and her criticisms are of 'the Firm'. Scobie focus on developing that distinction at some length. Meghan is not criticising the family. It's the people who serve them.
So is the plan to chip the royals away from their households? Why not? She's broken everything else. I suppose it's easy to trash individuals, but if it's a monolithic institution like our monarchy, she needs to break it into smaller pieces first. Like self-help books say for managing your work. "Chunk it". Good luck with that one.
The other article I'd flag today is this one, about fears Meghan will target Kate in the interview:
https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1406589/meghan-markle-news-oprah-interview-kate-middleton-royal-family-latest-the-firm
Simply because it re-runs a photo that is too seldom seen. The one of Kate and Meghan on that one occasion when the "Fab Four" appeared together on stage for their Foundation. Meghan's mask has dropped and there is the ultimate mean girl, right in front of you, directed straight at Kate.
Kate, unaware, looks like the stronger person but troubled, off her guard and unequipped to deal with the threat. She was pregnant then of course and her pregnancies are difficult. Not that she goes on about that. Or anything else deeply personal. She doesn't need to. There's the difference.
The premise, outlined by Dodds (played by the splendid Jason Watkins), was that villains may try to conceal the truth by putting out a mixture of truth and lies, thereby making it impossible for investigators to work out which is which. Hence creating `A Wilderness of Mirrors'.
I see that the phrase comes from DC Martin's book:
`Wilderness of Mirrors: Intrigue, Deception, and the Secrets That Destroyed Two of the Cold War's Most Important Agents'.
My fear is that Negsie will dump a load of fresh fabrications (eg X sexually assaulted me), mixed with a few truths. Or perhaps she'll just dump another load of lies and distortions we haven't heard yet.
I’m guessing the black is her ‘take me seriously’ look, but how can we with the ill fitting and the poop on her shoulder.
@jessica: Remember the brown beret-style hat she wore at Christmas 2017 with the RF? It looked like a fresh, steaming cow pie had been plopped on her head. Not that she needs to, but perhaps Meghan is just reminding the world that she is a non-stop, traveling sh!t show.
My mother said it quite well: “Honey, some people have all their taste in their mouth.”
I'm thinking there are going to be loads of comments and a running commentary keeping us all updated as this plays out.
Cheers in advance
