Perfection in Daily Life Or Not

Decades ago, trying emulate Martha Stewart was all the thing.  It was a lifestyle of just the right furniture, linens, towels, bedding.  I learned about furniture restoration and peonies.  Everything was always just so.  It was always the perfect never a crumb showing or drop of blueberry pie filling falling on the table cloth.  It was silver, not stainless.  It was about using cloth napkins with rings instead of paper ones.  It was how to do something, make something and be some one who lived a refined life far above the hoi polloi of being common.  I did find cutting paper to the size of each picture really did make it easier to figure out where to hang it.

Didn't have kids so it was much easier to create a series of perfect moments.  With kids, they need food and now so dainty, crafted small portions with just so moments tended to go out the window.  A lot of things became more about real daily life with little or no resemblance to polished photos once poured over.

Since then the world has essentially had a major flip flop of how similar information is now released.  We have social media (Insta, youtube and X to name a few).  People are pitching their knowledge which can reach someone at any moment of day or night.  No more waiting for a tv show, magazine or staged gossip mag.  Nope.  Instant gratification available any where, any time.  And comment away in an echo chamber instead of a soap box in the city park in hopes someone from the local tv channel happens by.

Another major plot twist is the designation of job as now Influencer (or the people who support the Influencer, content creator kind of thing).  That's supposed to be really big money ... providing you find the right deal.  Even though, on average, people may make $65K a year, there are still a vast number who counter balance the ones who make the big big bucks like a million.  Each day new people are entering the field in hopes they will make it big.

Translation: there are a lot of people who are also in competition with you to get deals and new ones entering the crowded field hourly.  In some ways, being an influencer is like being sent on go-see for a model or try-out for an actor.  But now you in competition all day long and with people you won't meet or get to know in the waiting room.  And, with the internet, it is really hard to have something disappear if you say/show/do something not good.

This leads us to the latest - shop offerings - clothing, jewelry and links where she can be paid some commission.  The accountant in me is wondering just what their mark up is to be profitable if they can afford to pay her a commission and still have have profit to cover all their costs (the making, packing, storing, shipping).

A lot of ink about how profitable this will be for her/them but we've read that before with other ventures of theirs.  Just even the leaving had people making all kinds of forecasts of their profitability.  But that didn't work out after covid struck.  Since then there have not been a lot of sustained effort in any one direction so it's kind of hard to tease out if covid was really that much of THE show stopper or just a speed bump in what became a pattern of start, stop, start something else, promote it and then start something else.

And, now there are a lot of critics who are using their platforms to point out problems and what not.  They are getting louder and gaining ink or video as well.  Not everyone does well with criticism even if it is trying to be helpful (or not helpful).  I had no idea that hate watching is apparently a thing now.

Dealing with criticism.  Not easy.  Not easy at all.  And yet, if you look at people who waited it out,  say Camilla, Catherine or Sophie, they all walked through sustained fire, held their head up and kept moving/doing what they were doing.  They didn't wallow in victimhood as if they were the first person ever to be criticized.

Now that I think about it, I think back to Spare where he cannot wrap his head around the idea of people in his own family trying to tell him to blow it off nor get invested in trying to control it.

I suspect that, as part of managing him as a kid, his image of the whole of him being the joker, the happy-go-lucky doesn't have the forbidding future of the UK on his shoulders, there may have been a focus on the more positive spin to the behaviors instead of how he was sometimes less than sunny, nice to be around, thoughtful and certainly not spiteful.  Looking back to his own description of the playing ball in the hallways meant there was no consideration of any other people other than we are here and we are here to have fun.  Or the nasty stories about his teachers or the staff.  He told us that - not them.

So when the criticism started flying at her, maybe the family's response of no big deal, we all have had this ... that this happens to us suddenly became very real.  And now personal.  And now not something anyone could ever wave a magic wand to make go away.  And if neither of them had much experience is learning to navigate criticism, then it is the blind leading the blind, both getting more mad with it all getting very cyclical in how they responded to it as each less than perfect about how they are piece dropped.

That was a rabbit hole.  Back to her shop.

Not reading a lot about independent eaters talking about how they like the fruit spread.  Seems that a lot were expecting more and didn't like what they did try.

As for the clothing, not a lot of options which might be expected when starting out.  One of the problems with clothing is that there is no longer any definite season start date.  I forget why but it means that there really new stuff arriving each week instead of a whole reset one day each season.

What this means is no resting the laurels at any time.  New deals will always need to be in motion and how the sales are progressing may indicate future or not involvement with her for the current vendors or the need to go out and find new partners.

Actually everything is like that - always needing to be working on the next thing to be added whether it be clothing, jewelry, jam (fruit spread) or a pod cast.

We don't know, goodness knows there hasn't been a lot of ink about the clothing, but it isn't always easy to get this product made in America so the tariffs may factor into what happens long term there.  And the spread or the honey, are those segments going to be enough to keep the rest of the company all that profitable?

Well well well look who we have here. The unclothed woman who Prince Harry run away from is his Sussex Squad supporter and the same woman who gets VIP treatment at The Invictus Games. This was 100% staged and a big PR stun

The woman shouting in court today has been identified and has been photographed often with Hairy, including at the Invictus games where she was seated in the VIP section.

I don't think *'s new venture/s will be profitable in any meaningful way. She can't stick at anything, she does not have the discipline required to produce a sustained effort. * tries to have a finger in every pie instead of concentrating on one or two items. This is what happens when you have no ideas of your own and try to steal ideas here and there. * is also trying to do too much, a lifestyle blog with poor ideas and presentation, as well as now a podcast. Plus I think people are now sick of *&H and she's not attracting the right kind of attention.

I don't know what you call a business operation where you take the customers money and then refuse to send them the goods?

And I do wonder if there will be any more jam/preserve/spread on sale after the great launch and hype of mrs sussex.

I mean what if she lost all interest and is now just rebranching herself again?

After all though we all know (we have been told) that "jam is her jam" no one has seen any jam, have they?

Mr Wild Boar has just exclaimed `Dear God...' in response to photo of H cosplaying his ma in an operating theatre. `It's enough to drive you to drink!'

I don't know what he's poured himself but he's making me a cup of char.

The BRF, of which sadly M and Mrs Sussex are still part of, are supposed to be neutral and apolitical. Yet 'Harry and Meghan's Archewell handed almost £25,000 to Muslim group whose boss branded Israel 'apartheid state'

'The Archewell Foundation gave almost $30,000 (£23,000) to the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition [MMWC] in 2023, with a further donation the following year.

Its founder, Janan Najeeb, has repeated the slogan, ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,’ which is interpreted by some as calling for the total eradication of Israel.'

Of course, H&M are privately entitled to their own views but shouldn't they have done due diligence, assuming they're interested in Archewell, and checked where the money went? They can donate to whatever cause as private individuals but need to be very careful where the Archewell money goes. Always courting controversy

That's disgraceful, yet par for the course.
Enduring the Sussexes feels like a life sentence - I predict they'll still be at it when I'm on my death bed. I once thought I might outlive them but now I doubt it.
I do hope that mrs sussex did not feel uncomfortable today when Daily Fail wrote about her disgusting behaviour against her staff throughout the years (oh, I mean her ALLEGED behaviour)- AND on the same page as they wrote of the great happiness of Her Late Majesty The Queen on the wedding day of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales (then, of course The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).

Yes so different memories for us all, so different.

My daughter always tells me that people who are born without proper cognitive abilities are not to be belittled (if that is a word) and I accept that she is right.

So if Harry had been intelligent enough to understand what he was giving up in 2020 he would not be shocked at all over the things he has lost.

He could understand that, okei I lost that and that but I GAINED THIS! I am a free man to do what I want and I am extremely happy. (?)

But no, I'm so sorry. In his mind it is the mission of the taxpaying British subjects of his father to see and understand his rights and pay for him to live a life of luxury and status he thinks he has his birthright to enjoy.

I understand that the quality education of Eton missed teaching him the story of his great-great-great aunt Alexandra Feodorovna The Empress of Russia.

There has never been royal rights that can't be taken from you if you are an idiot.

Her complete inability to come up with original ideas, her refusal to commit to anything for the long haul, and being unable to keep good staff around her factors in to all the failures, but the bottom line is that she is extremely unlikeable.
She comes across as fake, pretentious, unrelatable.
She isn't stylish, she isn't cool, she has no special talents or amazing abilities....and while she isn't ugly by any means, she lacks the beauty or striking looks that can overcome all the negatives. She is just very average. She wouldn't stand out anywhere as plain ol' Rachel Markle. If she had moved to my very rural, stereotypically "backwards" hillbilly area and tried to set herself up as someone to emulate with her green waffles and fruit spread and weird pasta, people around here would be blessing her heart and driving 50 miles out of the way to avoid her.
I think she gives off a Mean Girl/passive aggressive vibe, too, but that might just be because we know so much about her.

I know, it's getting ridiculous now. Last week it was post partum pre-eclampsia, same as the woman she was interviewing. First we'd heard of it, I think. Now she's reminiscing.

'In the new episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, the Montecito-based Duchess of Sussex, 43, spoke about the loss of her child in conversation with friend and Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, who has also suffered miscarriages.'.

I've been fortunate not to have suffered a miscarriage but I don't think I'd describe the experience the way Mrs Sussex did: 'The 43-year-old likened miscarriage to letting go of a business and stepping down from a company.' Her assertions are not believable or interesting.
@Maneki Neko - Thanks, I didn't think of that - still seems `against Nature 'to me though, like strawberries or asparagus, at Christmas.
re Rory, Hmm. I doubt if she'd spend any `hectic ' time with a bloke on benefit...
Is The Royal Family going to react at long last to mrs sussex's shenanigans now? She has started making money for herself using The Wales children instead of her own selling kids clothing on her shopmy page. That woman is such a class act of discreet sophistication, I say.

Allegedly, 'Meghan Markle tried to heal the royal rift by sending King Charles an As Ever gift box, according to US media.
. . .
Speaking to Fox News Digital the royal correspondent Neil Sean claimed 'a very well-placed source' said a 'sample box of delights from As Ever has been delivered to Clarence House with a note.'

Sean added: 'This was a gifted idea from the Duchess of Sussex.'

Meanwhile royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that this would be Meghan's way of 'building bridges with the royal family' after herself and Prince Harry stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.'

If this is true, it shows *'s serious lack of intelligence. First of all, Higrove's products are infinitely superior, Charles should be insulted. Secondly, I think it would take a bit more than *'s box of tat to build bridges.

And i have to laugh at * sending KCIII a gift box. She truly is d*mned if she does, d*mned if she doesn't with that "fruit spread". I cannot laugh at the merching of her niece and nephew - a line crossed that is bigger than the Rubicon.

If the sussexes are losing their nerves because of looming financial catastrophe what are they demanding of The Royal Family as their terms to accept to come back to England and let The Family to enjoy of Their Popularity and Star Power. I mean they were the greatest stars during their stay five years ago (according to them).

To put the true feelings as they are: both sussexes give clear signs of mental instability that seem to border some kind of hysteria with their stories in the cheap papers. Harry must know that his wife is making money by selling out his nephews and niece and his numerous sick stories about the reasons why they moved to California have lost all sense by now. Poor diddums.

How is it that King Charles can have joyful messages about Ramadan and eid without any mention of Jesus Christ but is not capable to cherish our Easter holidays without words about Muhammed?

Harry was so in love with the word "accountability". Is he truly is SO stupid that he cannot understand that William has as much right to accountability as the next man.

If Harry thinks he has RIGHT to demand acceptance from his brother after all he has done he truly is a very, very low IQ case. Entitled moron.

Right on cue, * announced she's excited to get home to California from the TIME100 Summit in New York City on April 23 as Archie 'is about to lose his first tooth.' Normally, children start losing their milk teeth at around the age of six but as with first teeth, this can vary and some children can lose their teeth at the age of five. I think, however, that this is too much of a coincidence.

I don't know what she was doing at the TIME100 Summit in New York City, apart from trying to insert herself in the news again as 'the event is designed to 'spotlight solutions and encourage action toward a better world.' My thoughts - how dare the BBC use licence-payers' money to make a `donation to Archewell'/ how much did they have to pay themselves for the privilege of unveiling the whatever it was (I had no stomach to listen/read on.)
Also, that piece fromLainey is vomit-worthy.

I admire Martha Stewart's resilience and business acumen. When her husband ran off with her business partner, she came back bigger, better and richer than ever!

I am less impressed by her "act". He "life" was well curated, but lonely and loveless-at least the part she shared with the world.

My "dream life" isn't swanning around several gorgeous mansions by myself pretending to be perfect!

Decades of the perfect homemaker in an empty home ....then munchies with snoop dogg! I assume he is in the " friend zone" but don't really care.

I would rather have love, joy, and genuine friends than perfectly organized linen closets. (That set of red satin sheets I bought at Target on a whim slide off the shelves no matter what I do...maybe I should email Martha for advise) I put them in the satin bag then came in and put them in the drawer with my personal massagers.

If I had a lifestyle show, I would have to begin some episodes with a warning ...mildly titillating adult content , viewer discretion advised.

Girl With a Hat, is it terrible that my first thought after reading about Virginia's suicide was it is a suicide suicide or an Epstein style suicide. Especially since the press was starting to try to vilify her and "redeem" Andrew.

The royal kitchen should keep Andrew well stocked with high cholesterol "manly" meals with generous portions and plenty of his favorite topple and party favors. Killing him with kindness....

My poor karma, I didn't djy used to have such snarky thoughts.

New Yorkers don't give a honk about those two faux royal Hollywood wannabe phonies. The city is full of real stars and vips! Truly successful people are gracious and discreet, in my limited experience (handed to under a stall to Jackie O, sat next to Kissenger and Johnnie Cash on airplanes...the NYC thing is to pretend not to notice celebrities...at least it was in my time before the age of selfies...thank goodness)

These two are just temporary annoyances when they cause traffic jams.

MM should go to Bergoffs and ask for a personal shopper. If I were a billionaire, that is what I would do. Then go to the Arden spa...MM doesn't know how to live!
I second Magatha's point in reponse to what @GWAH has said,
I too want to see the downfall of the Sussexes, not our Constitution.

The invitation to POTUS was issued in good faith, before circumstances changed. His Majesty has been put in an impossible position and protocol may prevent the invitation being withdrawn. In fact, withdrawing it could have even more serious consequences for the UK, way beyond difficult trading arrangements, far worse in fact.
While Harry uses his title in spite of the fact that he has lost 100% of his dignity I think I will call him baron Harry the spare of the baroness after his role in New York for that is what he has become.

Charles is my king as well, but I am sadly disappointed in him. He is not up to his mother's standards. He is entitled and impatient, but most of all woke. He would sell his country to feel included at the WEF.
abbyh said…
Um, people have different opinions of the King. Being a subject of his tends to give greater weight to an opinion on his actions. I'm not and I made a mistake about this. I apologize.

From where I sit, he has a difficult life trying to appease diverse interests and as we all know, appeasement does not work long term. But it doesn't as the goal posts can keep moving as the appeasement is never enough and then someone else is all upset about something so there is a new fire needing immediate putting out. Truly a thankless job no matter how you slice or dice it.

One last comment about the King and then let's move on back to the duo. I saw a cute video of Gregory Doran who was with the BBC where he had some control in the 2016 Remembering Shakespeare 400 years after his death. The video is about the quote To be or not to be.

I saw the clip of the Lillibet actress interacting with * making "jam". I think * spoke to her rather coldly, or maybe that's her idea of a loving mother.
I like this post:

Apparently the Sugars get wound up when H is referred to by his proper name and so the OP suggests that `Sinners' use that handle. I'd add
` 'Enery ' in as well , as in 'Henery the Eighth I am, I am'.

BREAKING: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle criticized President Trump's mass deportation plan, stating that they are "ready to leave the U.S."

https://x.com/JDVanceNewsX/status/1916182371017363460
I consider the children to be off the limits because they are small and utterly innocent but it is horrible to listen their little voices when answering their mother's cold barks. There is nothing of the loving and warm interaction the Princess of Wales has with her small ones and neither is there the Wales children's enthusiasm when doing things with their mother. I know something about icy and violent narcissist mothers, by god I do, and I am very worried for baron Harry's children.

Summer is hurricane season. I don't know when to plant sweet pea seeds or when they would grow here, if they grow here. Maybe I'll try some in a pot on the patio and find out.

Meghan Markle breaks down in tears and appears to make thinly-veiled dig at the Royal Family in podcast with billionaire friend (DM)

'Elsewhere in today's podcast, Meghan spoke of how she hoped her children would grow up to appreciate that 'no one has ever loved someone more than the way our mom loved us'.

While sharing how she's putting together a set of 'tools' to help on her journey as a mother, Meghan said she was inspired by one of her 'mom friends' who set up 'secret emails' for her children to send them pictures and letters when they're older.

'I thought it was such a great time capsule to create for them,' she continued, 'and so I created for the kids these email addresses...that I will give them at some point.

'Before I go to bed, every night, I email them,' she added, explaining the emails contain pictures 'you're not going to frame', such as report cards.

Meghan said she hopes that when Archie and Lili open these emails, 'maybe when they're 16, maybe when they're 18, they will feel 'she has loved us so much'. '
...........
Nauseating. May I suggest that when Archie and Lili are 18 and 16, certainly a lot sooner, they might well wonder why they have no contact with their maternal grandfather, if he's still alive, and their cousins in England. Yes, mommy dearest is so loving.

Few of the celebrities threatening to leave the US actually leave. Very disappointing.

H&M are welcome to leave anytime they want. Since no country seems to want them, they could buy a yacht and be firmer royals without a country.
Yes, when the children are 18 their main duty is to think and dream about their mother, of course.

"Without her make-up" she looks shockingly masculine.

Ha! I remember the `Nobody loves you like I do line' from my narc ex.
I suppose It's true in a way, in that I'd never known anyone with such a distorted view of what constitutes `love'.

`Both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex agreed to stop using their HRH styles when they stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, but a source close to the couple insisted that was only for commercial purposes and that they did not use them publicly.'

`...only for commercial purposes...' ???!!!!
WTF? Ye Gods, some people are thick.
Then there's drawing a comparison between being in the BRF, in palaces and an expensively - renovated `cottage', on the one hand and `the Trenches', rats, mud, dead comrades, whizz-bangs, makeshift latrines - poison gas and the likelihood of being shot if one went `over the top', on the other.
A gross insult to the memory of both Tommy Atkins and the PBI (poor bloody infantry) and to our Royal Family.

from a comment over at CDAN, don't know if it's true or not:

Old Meg has so many worries at the moment. Nothing is going right.
Harry had to be escorted out of the Legends of Aviation event last Friday after only 11 minutes. He was barely able to stay upright and the organisers were worried that he was going to collapse with alcohol poisoning. The prince was completely blootered - as drunk as a skunk.

The story's changed:
`The Duchess of Sussex used her HRH style privately but not for commercial purposes, sources close to Meghan have said.' according to Yahoo.

If it really was `private' why was it published on the internet?

I've just watched this again and :
Our late Queen is brought to Westminster Hall to lie in state
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqm3iJKHpH4
I wonder, how can anyone witness this and not be moved by the solemn dignity and sadness of the proceedings? Of course, we know the answer to that...
I do not believe that mrs sussex understands that the more she speaks the more she gives the world undeniable proof that she constantly lies. I mean lies, lies, lies, lies, lies etc.

I wonder if baron Harry the spare of the baroness has intelligence enough to understand that.

Maybe not.

'Prince Harry LOSES appeal in his battle for full taxpayer-funded police protection when visiting the UK leaving him facing £1.5m legal bill'

'But Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls said in his ruling this afternoon in London that Ravec's decision 'were taken as an understandable, and perhaps predictable, reaction to the claimant having stepped back from royal duties and having left the UK to live principally overseas'.

'These were powerful and moving arguments and that it was plain the Duke of Sussex felt badly treated by the system', he said.'

'But I concluded, having studied the detail, I could not say that the Duke's sense of grievance translated into a legal argument to challenge RAVEC's decision'.

That was predictable. I don't know if * pushed him to sue in a bid to get more money but it has seriously backfired. They never learn. I hope this is the last time he tries to sue. I hope this means * never sets foot in the UK again, it's too dangerous.

'And now 'He [Charles] won't speak to me because of this security stuff,' the prince said, adding he didn't know how long the King had left to live.'
... he wants 'reconciliation' with the royal family but was at present cut off from his father.
You will be gratified, however, to know that Harry has 'now 'forgiven' them.' Probably so that he can then ask for money or plead for police protection.

Harry, like his wife, doesn't have a realistic grasp on the situation. 'Saying that he felt 'let down' and looking upset, he described his court defeat as a 'good old-fashioned establishment stitch up' and blamed the Royal Household for influencing the decision to reduce his security.' Here we go again, woe is me. Does he realise how very boring his and his wife's whingeing are?

New post up!

(seemed like a good time to start a new one)
If baron Harry the spare of the baroness does not try to continue his battle in the Supreme Court I think we can deduce that his resources are vanishing. It will be interesting to see what he will try to do to get his family to support him and his family without saying "I'm TRULY sorry!". Because I don't believe he is capable to admit that he has been wrong all the time since meeting that woman.

His entitlement will tell him that he has every right to family money but the true world does not function as Harry expects. Poor diddums.

Gosh It Is Quiet In Here

There just hasn't been a lot from really either of them together or individually lately, has there? But why? Have they blown all their bridges, connections and are down to toss the proverbial kitchen sink for attention? I don't know.  We've heard that moving vans showed up at the house.  And nothing more like pictures from a neighbor happy to see the back of them. We've heard they bought a house on Portugal.   But the wording was kind of funny.  Multiple sources of the same thing - yes but that isn't a guarantee of proof as it could all be from the same source.  It was more along the lines of "We've been told that...".  It came off as a we really don't know if we believe this to be true or not so we are putting it out there but hedging our bets.  Or at least it did to me. And nothing more like exactly when, where or for how much or when they might visit it again.  Or pictures of the awesome inside.  Or outside.  Or requisite ...

As Time Passes and We Get Older

I started thinking about how time passes when reading some of the articles about the birthday.  It was interesting to think about it from the different points of view.  Besides, it kind of fits as a follow up the last post (the whole saga of can the two brothers reunite). So there is the requisite article about how he will be getting all kinds of money willed to him from his great-grandmother.  There were stories about Princess Anne as trustee (and not allowing earliest access to it all).  Whether or not any or all of this is true (there was money for him and/or other kids) has been debated with claims she actually died owing money with the Queen paying the debts to avoid scandal.  Don't know but I seem to remember that royal estates are shrouded from the public so we may not (ever) know. However, strange things like assisting in a book after repeated denials have popped up in legal papers so nothing is ever really predicable.   We are also seein...

Will She or Won't She?

I am talking about Catherine and Trooping the Color. It's barely over a week away and will she/won't she decision is leaning toward not in public media. The ceremony is almost three and a half hours beginning really at 10, parade starting 10:30 and flyover at 1.   That's a long time even if you are sitting.  Especially if you have not been out in public in a long time plus you have or feel you have to be the face of being the parent while your spouse is busy being officially second to His Majesty.  And He won't be on a horse this time (uproar over tradition). Yeah but, but ... what if she showed up for just part of it, like the flyover? OH, that would be heartwarming after worrying about her as she has been coping with her disease.   But ... eh, my guess is not.  Just because if she showed up, it would become the Catherine's back show instead of the celebration of the King's birthday.  And Catherine is known for being able to  be in the...
