The dress is too tight and too expensive. (It is also riding up in the back, creating an uneven looking hem)

As the expression goes, buy for the body that you have and not the body that you wish to have.

For the love of god, why do these $5000 dresses never fit her?

here are the first 3 paragraphs. I have a subscription to The Times.

In the end, it was a Strong Businesswoman look that she went for. White shirt, patterned skirt, hair scraped back into a penitential ponytail. The Duchess of Sussex paid her second visit to Wimbledon in just over a week yesterday, only this time she had the correct look — not jeans. But as she made her chastened way to her seat in her sub-Gilead straitjacket, I felt for all the world that the life had gone out of her. She’s not a tennis fan; she clearly doesn’t like or understand the game; it’s been the worst week of her royalling life. So why did Meghan even want to come back?

Officially, she was there to watch as her friend Serena Williams fought in the ladies’ final. Unofficially, she was there as part of a PR mission to salvage her reputation, after an appalling week of broken optics in which she’d revealed what she thought of the pesky, snappy, panting, royal-sniffing plebs at the tennis tournament. Arriving 10 days ago as part of a spontaneous “private” visit — alarm bells already — she’d thrown on the wrong clothes and brought the wrong people. She started giving the wrong orders: getting her protection officers to tell everyone to BACK RIGHT OFF and stop taking pictures. It was a diva fit reminiscent of the time she seemed to tell her minders to get her away from the throng at that market in Fiji — only this time no one even knew she was there.

One woman, a former Wimbledon player, said she hadn’t even been trying to get a snap of Meghan when someone tapped on her shoulder and told her to stop taking pictures. Another tennis fan, an Azerbaijani oil engineer, said he had “no idea” she was there when a minder asked him to “please give them privacy”. Even if they had been photographing the duchess, didn’t she know it was a public place surrounded by cameras?

---Who is vetting these important decisions? Surely it's not just a signature on the dotted line. Yikes.

Whew. Answers found at Charlatan Duchess tumbler. She was channeling Diana. Dress *is* way too tight and left a red mark on her neck (I guess there's no spanx for necks?) plus garment string hanging down under her right arm. From the back the dress is bursting. I feel better now and can get on with it.

I'm starting to think that Harry is spoiled and obnoxious and allowing MM to pull these stunts as a big FU for whatever reason, maybe another spare heir rebellion stunt like Las Vegas or the Nazi uniform. On some of the photos, he has a real smile when he looks at her. Maybe he is dim.

Elle: re Lion King ensemble critique.....
You are right - there appears to be two holes in the sheer fabric- one on her left shoulder and one on her left upper arm. They did not appear to be pulls - I hope it is just the photography. $3K for the dress - it had better fit!
Aside from nit picking, honestly - MM looks great. yes, the dress is tight across the upper chest, otherwise it looks like it was made to fit a post partum woman. EVerything looks good - her shoes fit! MM looks better than Beyonce. Even Harry looks happy.

I can hear the seams of that dress screaming and I live on one of the 13 colonies.
It is a mystery to me why the designers team could not have altered the dress 5 or 6 days ago. Unless Schmuckle was too vain to have another fitting.

Liz Smith... the woman who tried to impregnate herself with sperm from a used condom? She should turn in whatever fashionista credentials she has. Smeg's shirt and skirt were 2 different colors of white... well, stark white shirt and off white skirt. Looks tacky.

On the "up" side: I see that Harry put on a smile and some dress shoes to go to the premiere. Perhaps there is hope yet...

Re: Harry, I noticed that also - Other then the initial showing of the baby to the press, Harry doesn't really interact. I think the polo day was a really bad idea for both sparkles and Haz, because not only was it weird about their interactions with the "baby" but there is also the comparison with how Kate interacts with her kids. Granted, she has been a parent for a lot longer, but you can just see they are a family - and it really throws the whole Meg/Haz debacle to the forefront.

Elle I agree - her blatant contradictions and desire to be the focus of everything gets on my boobs. I think she thought her life was going to be about wealth and status and not having to work, and realizing that this isn't the case has her off guard.

My thoughts are she seems to think if she misbehaves enough she will either be "exiled" or taken off the high profile tier and be able to just enjoy the wealth and status without the responsibility - it wont work that way, she is a minor royal and everything she is enjoying is tied to the realm.

This dress is one or two sizes too small.

@Mischi/Jen I get what you're saying, but in fact there are many wealthy people who have a LOT more money than the BRF. I agree that it's gauche for them to take freebies, but some people seem to think the BRF are the 1% of the 1% and they are most definitely not.

Yeah, I can't go with the looks great bit. It's not just tomato/tomatoh on this one - it's stuffed sausage with hanging string down her back. And sorry @HumorMe, and I am not a Beyhiver, but there is IMO literally nothing about MM that came close to Bey today. I got claustrophobic just looking at her rolled into that dress and the rolls of fabric all around the top and the back fat. Not body shaming, just sayin', 30 lbs ago, maybe, but just not now.

I think that some other posters have had a similar problem: My comments are not posting today.

Sunshiny, maybe he is just so happy to be at the movie premiere. It is his favorite of all time, so maybe MM hasn't even managed to spoil it. Yet. Or maybe he just made a side bet on how long those seams on her dress would hold and he's thinking about that every time he smiles at her.
Blackbird said…
Ugh, there she goes again, thinking if she wears her hair pulled tightly her face will look slimmer, ala 'Croydon Facelift' ... but fails miserably. She needs to invest in a glamour team who don't loathe her.

No excuses for her wearing clothes that don't fit properly ... we all come in different shapes and sizes and I can think of several larger women who always look beautifully turned out. She's a disgrace.

And I still want to know what happened at Wimbledon yesterday. The photos the DM threw in later show something was going down between the BFF SILs

She looks lovely in the Lion King premier. As to the dress.... sigh. The dress is very pretty, unforturnately, it doesn't fit her. It's tight in all the wrong places. Couldn't she find a tailor/seamstress to properly fit the dress to her? Seriously!! I don't know if she's merching this outfit or what. No words. As Elle said "rolled in a whole pile of merde".

I'm sorry, @MomMobile, I didn't see this before. The blog is eating comments now. I think Nutty is going to have to issue hall passes lol.

Oh, and don't miss the photos from the match yesterday afternoon. Kate took her sunglasses off and looked quite testy. I posted the link somewhere above.

Exactly. It's not her size/shape. It's that she is trying to squeeze that size/shape into inappropriate, unflattering, poorly tailored, too small, doesn't work/match outfits and it's just sad and too often trashy (the hooker jeans from her Wimbledon debacle are a case in point.)

Of course, in her defense, can she find a glamour team that won't loathe her soon enough?

Her Lion King outfit wasnt hideous...Beyonce's however, was atrocious. SMH.

MM looked put together, but the dress looked tight. She didnt look comfortable. I have to wonder if she just has no idea how to dress this new body of hers. She's always been slim and now she's not. I think she's still trying to wear the same type of clothes that she wore when she was super thin and it doesn't work for her. She had some very nice outfits during her first few engagements after marriage, so she's not a total loser in the fashion department.

I always want to cry when there is a link to the Times, the articles sound so good but unless you subscribe you can never read them

Meghan looks horrible! What the hell us that outfit that she’s wearing?
Aquagirl said…
@Nutty: MM will no longer be associated with the September issue of British Vogue. It’s being said that she ‘turned it down’ (ha, ha!), but we all know that’s not what really happened.
Aquagirl said…
Harry ignores the ‘baby’ because he is not the father.

Everything MM does is calculated. The too small black dress bodice may have been to make her look more well endowed and reveal more bust - just like her idol Bouncy always has everything hanging out. But my question is how an allegedly nursing new mother can smash and push up her breasts like that for a several hours long series of events without pads, and discomfort? From door to carpet, meet & greet, watch film, after party, as rep. of the Royal Foundation. Opinion: Not nursing.

I wasn't crazy for Bey's but at least it fit and had a theme (gold lion mane). I already thought MMs was bad. Now that I've seen what MMs dress should have looked like and what it did look like and the dandruff and snags have been confirmed, I'm sorry, but I just cannot. MM couldn't even get LBD right. Just sad. But the clips of "the claw" on Charlatan Duchess are worth a watch. No, not *THE CLAW* but yes, the claw, and before I even realized others were calling it that, I was calling it that because it is so obviously *THE CLAW*.

And as a DM reader wrote: "She better not bump into any sharp corners, she'll pop open like a roll of biscuit dough."

Sorry, I'll take Bey's questionable but well-earned-thru-talent taste over Markle's delusional multi-thousand-pound-sausage-roll-funded-by-taxpayers faux pas any day.

My take on Mm’s outfit: This was her attempt to copy Kate’s amazing white dress, that she wore to Wimbledon earlier this week, and that had garnered all the praise, bc she looked amazingly chic.

Wow, sorry if this is a repost, but I didn’t see it on first perusal:

“Though the new dad smiled at his eight-week-old son while taking some time out off the field, “[he] appeared uptight and looked upon his wife with disdain”, an onlooker noted.”

Beyond tacky for a "royal" to grab swag.
Anonymous said…
I agree @Catty. I know that the swag is there for everyone. I know that the gifters would love for royals to be seen with their products (and therein lies part of the problem). And I know that there's nothing prohibiting the swag bags from being grabbed by royals. But I think these swag bags fall into the "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" category. In fact, a whole lot of what MM does falls into that category.

I just saw that article too!! I wonder if he was with Chelsy - is she still in London? Her bizarre appearance at the Polo match looked like it wasn’t planned, so maybe she went when she heard Chelsy was there!

A Quiet Interlude

Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event?   Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th?  Oscar's - March 10th?   In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US.  The IRS just never goes away.  Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on).  There's always another one.  Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California.   That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.   Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere.  But.  The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

As Time Passes and We Get Older

I started thinking about how time passes when reading some of the articles about the birthday.  It was interesting to think about it from the different points of view.  Besides, it kind of fits as a follow up the last post (the whole saga of can the two brothers reunite). So there is the requisite article about how he will be getting all kinds of money willed to him from his great-grandmother.  There were stories about Princess Anne as trustee (and not allowing earliest access to it all).  Whether or not any or all of this is true (there was money for him and/or other kids) has been debated with claims she actually died owing money with the Queen paying the debts to avoid scandal.  Don't know but I seem to remember that royal estates are shrouded from the public so we may not (ever) know. However, strange things like assisting in a book after repeated denials have popped up in legal papers so nothing is ever really predicable.   We are also seein...

The Opening Act of New Adventures in Retail

I keep thinking things will settle down to the lazy days of spring where the weather is gorgeous and there is a certain sense of peacefulness.  New flowers are coming out. increasing daylight so people can be outside/play and thinking gardening thoughts.  And life is quiet.  Calm. And then something happens like a comet shooting across the sky.  (Out of nowhere it arrives and then leaves almost as quickly.)   An update to a law suit.  Video of the website is released (but doesn't actually promote any specific product which can be purchased from the website).  A delay and then jam is given out (but to whom and possible more importantly - who did not make the list?).  Trophies almost fall (oops).  Information slips out like when the official date of beginning USA residency.  (now, isn't that interesting?) With them, it's always something in play or simmering just below the surface.  The diversity of the endeavors is really ...
