Open post: Wimbledon

I'll be away from my desk today, but for those of you who would like to discuss Meg and Kate's appearance at Wimbledon today, here's a place to do that!

Nutty has asked me to act as hall monitor and take names of anyone who misbehaves*. I've already put my own name on the list :) Popcorn and Contemptinis will be served, and I can't wait to dish because this weekend is like a double-feature freakshow with Wimbledon and Lion King. I'm hoping for divorce before Monday.

*not really
Lottie said…
@Elle, Reine des Abeilles
I would offer to be your assistant but i will be too busy eating the 'caramel popcorn' (please) and probably a little tipsy after the contemptinis.
I have a feeling you are gong to be busy ; )
I cannot wait for this weekend!
What stunt is she going to pull, or plural - stunts
First we have Wimbledon
Will she be learning how to be humble and a how to behave like a Royal at Wimbledon with Kate the professional, showing her the ropes & how it's done
Poor Kate, called in for damage control once again, she must be dreading spending time with Meghan, i know i would be
Then bingo!!
The Lion king, that is going to be so interesting.
Her Royal highness Meghan meeting with Queen Bee, you just know that her self importance is going to be raised to a new level, it will be off the charts.

Yes popcorn and copious amounts of contemptinis will be needed to wash down the all of the excitement this weekend is bringing
SwampWoman said…
Oooh! Ooooh! I'm putting in my order for popcorn drizzled with dark and white chocolate, please. I awakened at 4:30 a.m. EST and immediately thought "WHAT TIME IS IT AT WIMBLEDON?" so here I am, sipping my tea, waiting for Meghan to show me how to comport myself at public events had I become royalty (shudder).
Lady Muck said…
Even though it's unlikely, I'm hoping they'll arrive separately, so MM has to curtsey to Kate! That would bring me a disproportionate level of satisfaction.
Maddie said…
Poor Kate has to babysit MM. I cant wait for the photos. This is going to be good. Poor Meg crammed in with the peasants sitting all around her with their cell phones. Bet that poor security guy is happy he was told “No, you don’t have to chase the peasants away this time, just relax and do your normal job. Kate will be there so this will be easy”.

Thank you Nutty for the new post.
Trudy2 said…
I know normal rules of behaviour don't seem to apply to her, but surely, SURELY, even Meghan won't misbehave today?
MaLissa said…
Morning all!! (It's 6 AM EST) Has the shenanigans started yet? I brought the coffee & Glenfiddich for those who don't want G&T's. Let the games begin. ~~Finds a comfortable chair~~
MaLissa said…
I wouldn't hold my breath Trudy2 :)
MaLissa said…
Yeah but Kate met Queen Bee and JayZ a couple three years before when they were in NY at the basketball game.
Unknown said…
Greetings from NZ ladies.....I am so jelly I might miss the fun due to time zones!! In the meantime I am nursing bottles of Shiraz (it's winter here) and checking all media sites for a glimpse of shenanigans. Enjoy, I might have to just relish the replays and highlights! G
SwampWoman said…
I secretly yearn for Kate to call her security over and ask them to hold her jewelry for a bit because she needs to administer an a** kicking. Yes, I know it will never happen, but I can hope.
Mischief Girl said…
Nutty takes good care of us! Love this blog and the community of commentators.
Sooz said…
Kate is already there - no sign of Megain yet, but it is said she will be joining Kate shortly to watch the match. So, arriving separately, check! Kate looks gorgeous, check! Can't wait to see what the day brings!
Kate said…
Yes, I see Kate arrived earlier to meet some if the Junior players. She looks beautiful in green! Just a little thin though, I think the Sussex stress is getting to her or she is pregnant again and feeling sick.
I can’t wait to see what today and tomorrow will bring!
wiezyczkowata said…
@Lady Muck: unfortunately Meghan doesn't need to curtsy to Kate when Kate is alone, only when William is present (at least this is what I understand from all those changes in curtsying) but I would pay money to see that
wiezyczkowata said…
repeat dress to make Meghan's spending look even worse - check!
Lady BreakWind said…
I hear that for today's Wimbledon visit, Meghan will be wearing a bespoke tent exclusively designed for her by Cabela's in a one of a kind duck blind pattern.
BooBigly said…
Loving that Kate showed up solo, and wearing a dress showcasing her slim figure..... You guys think MM's team is in a Wimby locker room helping her squeeze into 5 pairs of spanx and a corset right about now?
Miss_Christina said…
Really? I heard she'd be wearing bespoke LL Bean in a jaunty moose print.
hardyboys said…
I'm willing to put in writing that Meghan will be on her best behaviour looking g as good as she can. She knows her longevity in the BRF is counting on this working out. But God I wish she would come coked out and a hot mess like a cross be Amy Winehouse and whitney Houston.
MaLissa said…
Nah... that would be a bespoke tent by Omar the Tentmaker :)
Lady BreakWind said…
To round out the outfit, Meghan will be wearing one of a kind bespoke summer sandals made of recycled trout scales designed for her by Bass Pro Shops.
Miss_Christina said…
Accessorized with one of a kind bespoke fishing lures earrings by the Compleat Angler.
Kate said…
Smeagle is there sitting between Kate and Pippa. Her outfit is not great. At least her hair is pulled back and not messy. I think the two sisters will keep her in lime today!
Kate said…
Keep her in line I meant to say!
Miss_Christina said…
Why does she insist on wearing pleats? Does nothing for her, although I suppose she at least is wearing the proper kind of outfit.
Bubbles said…
I’m on vacay and having a lazy morning but am going to miss the bulk of the talk today! Obligatory comment so I get my notifications to catch up as i check my phone every so often - my girlfriends and I are keeping them put away!!

The DM sounds over megs in their article on Catherine being beautiful in green. The picture of class.

Make mine a triple, I’m hopping in the pool!
MaLissa said…
@LadyBreakWind LOL :) Wouldn't that be a sight to see !!!! <>

@Miss_Christina LOL ;) <> gold plated of course :)

Priceless!! The snark is alive and well :P
Bubbles said…
The DM said MM is busy for a woman on maternity leave, cracked me up!
Bubbles said…
Wait - you have a life Nutty!? ;) KIDDING!!!! (Had to make that clear!) Thanks for the space! I love all the conversations here, a real wonderful group. Happy Saturday all!
NikNak said…
Putting her between the sisters was a good strategic move. It's almost like she's trapped into behaving.
Love Kate’s messaged with the recycled dress highlighting Meghan’s excessive spending. I’m guess Kate and Pippa originally planned to attend together. Unfortunately MEgain had to be squeezed in for damage control. She looks terrible, the waitress shirt is back. (No offense intended to servers.)
MaLissa said…
Well, outfit wise it's not bad, it's not good either but I'm with you, why pleats? At least she pulled her hair back so it looks neat and tidy.
MaLissa said…
Aye, was going to say that shirt is a rewear although the first time I saw it, it was messy. It still looks messy. Overall its ok but I'd have chosen another shirt/top to wear with that skirt.
NikNak said…
This whole bump think is really freaking me out. Where has it gone now? People will probably disagree with me but the whole plastered back hair does not look good, it looks harsh, like you've gone through a car wash face first. Have a blow out and let it fall naturally. Finally enough with the suit tops MegCon, you are not on set anymore...oh wait.
BooBigly said…
Pleats hide her rolls.
Jen said…
The side view picture of her thatsnon the DM shows a bulge in the tummy and caboose.
Jen said…
@Boo...exactly. its not flattering though.
Kate said…
I am also not a fan of that shirt. She should have worn a cute dress like Kate.
Jen said…
My first thought when I saw her sitting between Kate and Pippa, was this was KP's way of making it look like Kate is actually talking/looking at MM, when she is actually talking to/looking at her sister.
Kate said…
I just looked again at the pictures. The shirt doesn’t really go with that skirt. A dress would suit her better with her body type.
Louise said…
I think that she wears pleats because they are "in" this year.

She would do well to realize that not every "in" fashion item is suitable for everyone.

I think that she actually looks ok today because she has kept it simple, although I believe that the shirt is Givenchy, but worn previously. A little heavy, as usual, on the bronzer.

She probably wanted to define her waist after the mocking of the green dress.
Louise said…
Jen, I believe that your assessment is correct.
Kate said…
I agree! That’s how it looks in the pictures!
MaLissa said…
@Bubbles yeah busy on Insta, shopping online for hideous clothes and jewelry, writing up press releases/thinking up stories for her PR people. Yeah, she's real busy. Oh and breast feeding her child because he's oh so perfect!!
MaLissa said…
That's why she was late coming. She had to put on 10 pairs of Spanx. You know that takes time.

@Kate But the shirt.... it's Givenchy!!
Flangalina said…
Hi all,
Just a quick one as I’ve just popped in,I was wondering Narcs don’t seem to have a sense of identity and are known to copy hence when MM turned into her stylist friend the hair everything just look.
Is she channeling Ajolie as the green tent and sunnies and today’s outfit, hmmmm anybody else think this?
Go check AJ out.
MaLissa said…
I just took a look a those pics again. Trust S'Meagol to keep an eye out for the camera as she turns to talk to Kate or Pippa. Never change Megs, never change.
hildarumpole said…
It's not a great outfit, but more appropriate than her previous Wimbledon get up. She isn't a sloppy mess and appears sober, so there's that. Kate, as always, looks terrific.
Lady BreakWind said…
Looks like we were wrong and that pleated skirt is a bespoke design from the curtain department courtesy of Walmart.
Miss_Christina said…
With hair by Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch of the West.
Bubbles said…
@MaLissa spot on! 😂Hustlers gotta hustle. Better: Grifters gotta grift (as HarryMarke says!)
Bubbles said…
She wears pleats because she was told to so she would be paid. She looks terrible, shirt doesn’t match and hair is doing her no favors. The ponytail itself looks tangled and uncomfortable.

I’m not going to knock the weight, women come in all sizes and shapes, but the look isn’t doing her body type any favors. I’d look just as bad in the same outfit.

You guys are awesome! I've literally had one sip of coffee and had to quit because I was laughing so hard I almost spilled on my bespoke jaunty moose print cat!

I haven't seen, I must go hunt this down, but it sounds like they really did the megs up for the day. Hair pulled back (Doria, anyone?) and unflattering clothes. At least Pippa is there so that Kate does have someone for chat and who can help hold megs down when it finally breaks loose.

Oh, and awesome or not, I still have to write your names down 😉
EFarrell said…
I am embarrassed to admit that I woke up this morning so excited for the photos from Wimbledon. I am afraid I’m quite addicted to this royal reality show! In this episode the long suffering DOC and her sister have to do their duty to the Crown by pretending to enjoy their time with the American interloper.
Anyway, looking forward to the comments and observations of you all!
My quick observations are
1. Kate looks lovely but is awful thin. It seems this whole debacle is wearing on her.
2. Pippa really has it made. All of the money but no real responsibility like her sister.
3. Meghan looks decent. As someone who also carries extra weight in the stomach area, I have learned skirts are NOT my friend. A nice floral dress would have been a better choice, but Meghan has looked a lot worse.
Cheers to a great weekend!
NikNak said…
@MaLissa Good luck Meg wearing that in this humidity.

Who writes this dribble: "Royally good fun! Kate and Meghan seemed to be in fits of laughter as they enjoyed a convivial afternoon out in the Royal Box with the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister Pippa"? I'd like to see them in my office *now*

First round of comments:

Kate: you look lovely, green is one of your best colors, and your RBF is almost imperceptible. Almost. You go, girl!

Pippa: your RBF could use some work, and I love you for it. Also, I do not think it is possible for you to move further away from megs without changing seats, but you've given it a go.

Megster: you know how women ask "do these pants make me look fat?". Well, sometimes it's okay to ask the same about shirts and skirts. Not fat shaming, just sayin' that not everyone can be spanxed into creamy white pleats and avoid looking like Doria if Doria were a slightly mismatched blob of whipped cream from the neck down. (By not everyone, I mean you.) Also, you cannot sit with us at lunch.
NikNak said…
She keeps trying to define her waist. Now, I'm 8 stone with no natural curvature as well but I work with my positive bits. Legs and boobs. Meg needs to stop shoving shirts into skirts and put on a dress. The lavender dress when abroad was lovely.
Jen said…
Bit too slim, IMO.
Jen said…
@Bubbles...exactly! I could care less about her weight..she "just had a baby" hahahaha....anyway, there are more flattering outfits that could have been worn.
NikNak said…
Kate looks awfully thin, I noted that as well. But she is tall so take that as you will.
Lady BreakWind said…
Two things we know about Meghan:
1. She could not act her way out of a paper bag.
2. She cannot put together 2 separated pieces of clothing.

Bonus: Face makeup by Sherwin-Williams . Color is Hubris Orange and will be available in all Sherwin-Williams stores in October 2019.
Jen said…
😂😂😂

I agree that Kate is too slim. Still think she is classy and beautiful. I would love to blame it on the stress, but she has always seemed to go super slim between kids, so I think this is how she feels good.
NikNak said…
Absolutely love Pippas' dress. Kate looks amazing too.
Jen said…
Is the DM being paid for each ridiculously glowing word about how the two are getting along? The write up is a disgustingly saccharine and over the top. I dont usually read the DM, so may be its normal.

"Royally good friends! Kate and Meghan were joined in the Royal Box by Pippa Middleton, to watch the Women's Ladies Singles Final at Wimbledon" What a caption and wow on megs in full body shot. Sorry, megs, but large mammal is not the look you want. I suffer from the same figure flaws you do. As @NikNak said: legs and boobs.

And in the photo captioned: "Worse ways to spend an afternoon! Despite rumours of friction between Meghan and Kate, they certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves at the tennis..."

Yeah, no. I'm hoping that megs was body searched before she was allowed in. Those are 'get back, bish, I'll meet you in the yard' smiles in that photo.

All other smiles are brought to you from the set of the movie, FROZEN, another movie in megs wasn't in.

EF, RBF is 'resting bitch face'.

I use it here in reference to how the true emotions slip through the veneer of fun and happy. In RBF, the contempt & disgust ratio is higher than normal, particularly so with Pippa who is giving the WTF laugh and WTF do I smell? intermittently.

Good morning from the MidWest in the "States" as they are known over the Pond...
Love the comments - you all are spot on with the observations.
My two cents .....
WHAT was MM thinking when she chose her outfit this morning? Everyone with common fashion sense knows you do not "highlight" the areas you wish to conceal - the belt and skirt scream "Look at my 8 week post partum body". MM would have done better to wear the green dress from the polo outing with the belt it comes with. Did MM make herself look dowdy because she knew she would be sitting between two fashion plates?

Kate and Pippa - momma taught them well.

While I agree that Kate is quite thin, I probably would be, too, if I knew I were going to be photographed from every angle. Seriously, can you imagine people taking photos of your hips and thighs and stomach on an almost daily basis? I would die, or at the very least, lunge at them and break their cameras. Alas, Kate can't do that, so she stays ultra-thin. Also, she has always been quite athletic, so she may just feel better that way. My weight varies, and I loved the super thin/no body fat feel and ability to put on anything and have it look okay. However, I also love the feel of yellow cake with chocolate icing and can, at the moment, wear tents in a variety of colors, so that feels good, too :)

Why does megs insist on doing the bend-forward-laughing-so-hard thing? Is it her need to faux the life out of any situation? Something she learned on the set of Suits? Or is it more of a suitcase girl move? Or was she injured during the BJ scene on 90210 and she just can't laugh vertically? --- Asking for a friend whose name is EveryLastOneOfUsWhoSeeThis Fraud.

Oh dear, the DM are not being kind (close ups of her face etc) I personally think this was so scripted even my own mother could see through the smoke and mirrors. Meghan if you're reading this STOP.WEARING.SHIRTS. Do that on your own time. This woman is supposed to be representing the Royal family. As a UK citizen and Tax payer you did not inspire anything aside loathing.
NikNak said…
My personally opinion is that she is still rebelling from the normal Royal protocol and not listening to advisers.

There is nothing about this woman that is natural it is ALL orchestrated. Don't worry, British people smell it too. Basically dress for the occasion sit the eff down and shut the eff up. You want privacy? 'sure' but then you calculatedly come out in public postpartum. This woman.

I think this may be where I leave you all. I have become deceased upon seeing our beloved Pippa, She of the Magnificent Derriere, Supportive Always of her Sister Catharine, sitting on the OTHER SIDE of Rachel and away from her sister. I bid you all adieu, remember me fondly as a curious bystander and wonderer of the truth. Why is Rachel in the middle? Why is she being flanked by two of the most enduring sisters in the royal family? Why is she dressed like that? Why does her hair match Pippa's? Why did i, too, wake in the middle of the night wondering if Wimbledon was happening yet? This is a very clear message and we must assume it's from the Queen herself; Rachel Meghan is one of us now and forever, no matter how horrible she may have shown herself to be. Fond farewell, friends. (I'll be back every 15 minutes to check on comments here, I'm not really going anywhere teehee.)

Beautiful shade:

"Harry's wife"

"The Duchess looked glamorous in a bespoke green D&G midi dress....Meanwhile, Meghan ..."

"However, as the royals are there in an official capacity, they must appear netural and give equal support to both players."
"A source told Femail that Meghan did not appear to be clapping when Simona Halep won impressive points, instead staying 'loyal to her friend'."

I'll bet on at least one "Bloody Hell" from HMTQ today. Megster cannot/will not learn. Ticky tacky. Staying "loyal to her friend" and "modernizing" the BRF via deplorable manners and an utter lack of grace.

It's 5 pm in London. Cheers, Kate!

Pleats definitely look better on petite women with a long slender frame because if you have a girth & larger backside then pleats accentuate them
Maybe last year before the pregnancy MM could of pulled this look off
The shirt is so boring and basic it would look better with jeans or trousers...not a silk pleated skirt
Time she invested in a really good stylist

And i can understand why MM is not Kate's cuppa tea

BigFanUSA, haaa haaa! Fun to see how someone ghosts themselves. Loved that Pippa showed up to be her sister's wing girl. By putting Rachel between them was super smart as that way when Kate and Pip chatted it would be over Megs. If they'd have sat next to each other it would have looked like they were excluding Megs. Control and appearance matters. Plus, Kate and Pip would be talking all about the match.

I noticed how when Meghan was with her friends to watch Wimbledon, she was walking ahead of them first, but made her friend sit first so she could stay in the middle. But with Kate, she didn’t seem to mind not having to sit in the middle and be the center of attention.

I am not a fan of the DOS. And I don't like her outfit. But at least she tried today, most likely by edict, which is, I am sure, why the DOC and her sister flanked her. However, regarding the DOCs dress today- I love the color but am not a fan. I dont like the puckering it did at the breast area- it is like a bad Madonna inspired detailing (zoom in close). Also, I thought she had a little bump at her tummy, as skinny as she is (and boy, she is skinny), there is a slight bump. Maybe DOc is pregnant. But she is so thin otherwise if you zoom in you can see the outline of her belly button. I know- I am saying she is too thin and also maybe pregnant. Just observations.

She's listening to someone on at least one front: for three - THREE - official-ish occassions, she's kept her hair neat and tidy. Trooping of the Colours, Archie's christening and now today with her future Queen. No dumb loose messy tendrils.

Now, she still wears her hair in that instagram "I woke up like this" messy on purpose look for her off-duty moments, but the complete 180 with her hair on important occassions should be noted. Someone had a word!

Well, what can we say with sincerity about Meg's outfit at the tennis today?

"It was the best she's looked all week." Truth. She vaulted over that low bar today by recycling her "I'm here to take your order" white shirt from the Endeavour Awards & a bespoke pleated, print shower curtain by Michael Kors for Target.

Silly, of course it was a *very expensive* pleated print shower curtain.

Meg does not know how to dress her body type. The pleated midi skirt is so long on her she's got it hiked up under her boobs, which of course highlights her problem areas a treat. That is a column skirt which I think wouldn't look good on anyone, but it was designed for a tall person with a figure like a column. (ie, Catherine) On Catherine it would probably be the correct length and hit at the natural waist. This is the exact same blunder she made with the waiter outfit while she was 'hugely pregnant'.

Not that she should wear it. It would make a lovely shower curtain, though.

Pippa looked the best. Her dress was light, summery . . just the thing for a day of tennis. Also, the blue floral pattern was distinctly reminiscent of Meg's Oscar de la Renta disaster from last year. Slight shade throwing by P. perhaps, though I am certain that i've seen her in that dress before, so it wasn't bought especially to mock Meg or anything. Pippa looks happy, even though her sister-bonding time was spoiled by the brash annoyance sitting between them.

Meg did try, under duress. She's looked better but she's looked far worse. At the polo she looked like the Madwoman of Chaillot. At least today she looked fit to be out in human society. So much happier, not to be saddled with 'Archie'.

Grade: C

At least she left the hat at home this time. Maybe it will 'accidentally' disappear into a shredder or backyard bonfire at Fraudmore.

OK, since this is kind of a free-wheeling room today . . . this is not on-topic to today's Wimbledon visit. I was scrolling through the Charlatan Duchess blog and came across this photo of Smeaghan's ex, Toronto-based chef Cory Vitiello. This picture was taken in 2014 for the Tig, back when Cory was still useful to her and providing her with a home and gourmet meals cooked by himself.

Look at who Meg threw away in her relentless quest to 'bag a royal'. His parents were shocked when he told them she'd left him, because they thought the couple was heading toward an engagement. Well, one of them was, just not to Cory.

Cory, you've had a lucky escape, mate. She 'upgraded' to a Prince, and more fool him, we say.

That would have been a treat, Mischi! Probably best she didn't; it wouldn't have been pretty watching Megs climb over the seats in that pleated skirt to start a brawl with Harry's ex. But it would have been so much entertainment.

She always does the bending down laughing thing just to show how much fun she is having and how funny the comment was. It's so fake she did it also to dimwits bad joke about the baby being his during that interview and at the baseball game. I think it's ironic that they have to do what they are told to do to stay on the dole as they have no true source of income. That's the sad part of their role. If they dont please the public they can lose their position. That's what happens with antiquated unnecessary Monarchies. Also Chris rock said it best "those with the most get to say the least". Hello Hikari and everyone else!

I noticed immediately that the white of Smirkle's shirt didn't match the white in the pleated skirt. That sort of detail gets on my nerves.

Sigh.

My sense is she tried, but as others have said, the incessant focus on her waist isn't doing her any favors right now. She at least brushed her hair, but I'm so over the monochrome look. She seems to love black and white, yet she looked simply stunning in Tonga with the blue dress that matched their national flag color. Smirks can pull off color, if only she would wear it!

Hi everyone! Just stopping by after a busy day. Thanks to Elle and everyone else for keeping such a good tone in my absence.

My take on the Wimbledon outfit: once again, Meg is insisting on doing things herself when she doesn't have to. The white shirt doesn't match the cream colors in the skirt or the ecru bag.

That's fine for the average citizen going to a work event or wedding - "close enough" - but not for someone who knows she's going to be photographed and televised all over the world representing the British Royal Family.

When you're in that position, you need to have a professional dress you. Doria does this. She's a licensed social worker - I'm sure she doesn't have a closet full of perfectly matched Oscar de La Renta formal day wear and hats and appropriate jewelry. Someone clearly shows up with a fully-matched outfit for her, she puts it on and has her photo taken (and possibly cashes a check) and then her work is done.

Watching Meghan, the people at Vogue UK must be having conniption fits. Their September cover probably calls her "Duchess Meghan, 21st century fashion icon" or something similar, and meanwhile she's walking around in amateurish outfit after amateurish outfit.

And I'm sure she doesn't have to. Somebody would be happy to dress her properly. She just has to be willing to listen to that person.
NikNak said…
I've noticed her bobbing whilst laughing too. What is that? IT'S.NOT.THAT.FUN.
Hikari said…
Agreed on the blue dress in Tonga. Even though it was slightly marred by her insistence on wearing a visible baby bump, I call that my favorite of all of her looks. A tiara would have been way over the top for that simple, stunning dress, but of course she wanted one and threw a fit when denied. Couldn't tell from the pictures . . she was posing as the 'sweet pregnant newlywed on her first international tour just thrilled to be Part of It All!"

You're right, the white shirt was not the same shade as the skirt. I have nothing against a classic white shirt, but when Farkle wears even classic pieces, they come off looking bad. That oversized white shirt was meant for trousers, unless Farkle thinks she's channeling Diane Keaton, who wears a BWS with everything. The effect was too casual and sloppy on the top, owing to the crappy half-assed way she rolled the sleeves. The skirt called for a more fitted top in a dark color that echoed the print on the skirt, black or peacock blue, was it? That skirt might have been the height of elegance on a tall, thin woman known for her avante garde style. Cate Blanchett could have rocked it out . . on a red carpet event, with the appropriate styling and jewelry. Setting aside the fact that it was too much skirt for Meghan, sizewise, it was just Too Much for an afternoon of outdoor tennis. Definitely more Met Gala/cocktail party kind of vibe. Probably was very uncomfortable to be sitting in the stands in.

This is a Smeaghan trait, though . . never judging the aesthetics of an occasion properly. Consistently she turns up with her clothes pitched to the wrong level of formality, and she veers wildly between extremes. It's either ratty jeans with holes or bedazzled Givenchy with very few happy mediums in between. Take Pippa's dress . . perfect! It was fresh and light, lady-like without being fussy. The dress code for Wimbledon is 'summer church outfit'. Ie., slightly dressy but not ostentatious. Despite having attended Catholic school, Smeaghan struggles mightily with the idea of 'summer church outfit', since it's so far out of her purview. Oh, she can do 'church clothes' if it means a plumed hat and Givenchy for a formal portrait. It's the few notches down from that she struggles with. Haute couture or 'throw on any old thing whether or not it fits' . . those are her two states of being. Today's outfit looked like the former on the bottom and the latter on the top.

I don't know what she has against color, either . . black and white (and brown and muddy green, etc.) do not flatter her, especially since she insists on using so much bronzer. That's going to be hell to get out of that white shirt.

Hi Nutty! I tried to keep everyone in line today, but they ended up behaving almost as badly as I have done :)

I agree w/everyone re the white/cream. A well-done ensemble can use the two together (the suit worn by Belloq (Paul Freeman) in Raiders of the Lost Ark is IMO a fine example), but it must be done well and with intention. In megster's case, it looks like she didn't notice. And then the crisp blouse with silky pleated skirt. Sigh. I love a nice white cotton blouse and own a number of them, so it's not a diss to the blouse per se, but with that shower curtain* skirt... one or the other, but not both together.

Megster's got fashion schizophrenia of the worst sort. She seems torn between Hollywood and Sloane Ranger and Royal and Forever 21 (those split up the side ho jeans she wore, FGS), and just none of it works for her, and all together? She's just tossed fashion salad.

Unless she's charged with bringing tacky back, this whole week/month/year was a fashion fail. Maybe she can do a What Not To Wear column?

*Thank you, @Hikari for identifying the designer ;)

Veena, this perfectly sums up this entire spectacle. Your quote may become my screensaver. Awesome.

You're right about what the skirt needed and who could've worn it. Problem with a fitted top in a dark color is that it would cut her right in half visually and she just doesn't have the body for it. Kate, yes. Cate, yes. Nicole Kidman, yes. Reese Witherspoon (my body type), no way in hell. Megster, just not. Maybe she does have a stylist and a royal advisor and they just hate her so much that they dress her like this because???

Oooooooh, and this from Charlatan Duchess: "mm was removed after her “friends” match, now it’s just Kate and Pippa sat for the men’s match starting around 4PM 🇬🇧 time." and there are photos of her being walked out by the men in grey. IDC how much anyone tries to play up the friendship angle, we see what we see and Kate and Pippa deserve cheers and cocktails after their pro-performances today.

Damage control, nothing more.

Smeg is swamped in her clothing again. Why does she insist on wearing everything too big?

Not in love with Kate's dress, but very well tailored.

Anyone else thinking Kate & Pippa had plans to attend together and Megs was wedged in as damage control? Who's idea? I predict we will be seeing the 2 together in the coming weeks and months. Doubt we will see Wills & Smeg together on an outing though.

Catherine is a professional, and played her professional PR role to perfection today. A person who is professional, mature and innately kind will make the effort to be sociable and inclusive toward even a person she does not like, especially when she has been told that she must do for the good of her firm, and she knows pictures will be taken. Well done also to Pippa, who is not professionally obligated by any tie of marriage to be nice to Smeaghan, the irritant who was inserted to ruin her girls day out with her sister.

Yes, they were getting along for the pictures. That is all down to Kate and Pippa. Smeaghan does not get along with anyone without a lot of help and propping up. I imagine it was an uncomfortable couple of hours for the Middleton sisters.
Hikari said…
Smeaghan could not be trusted to stay all day long with the grownups without having a meltdown. She behaved as well as she is capable today, though still showed through childish partiality gestures at Serena's play that she will never grasp the concept that the royals are supposed to be impartial and cheer all competitors equally.

I'm sure that the Middleton sisters had planned a nice day out together (their first public joint appearance since 2012) to enjoy the tennis and Kate was forced to have Meghan along for the first half. Once again, the Cambridges' integrity, wholesomeness and popularity is being exploited and leveraged to make Smeaghan more palatable. It's quite shameful and is such a burden on Kate and William. Harry is not carrying his ball and chain alone; the entire family has to carry her now.

Smegs' bad behavior gets her rewards like a day at Centre Court with the patroness of the All-England Club in the box with former champions and living tennis legends. By rights, really, if Catherine's comfort or any notion of 'fairness' was in play, Smegs should not be permitted anywhere near Catherine or these high profile posh events she lives for. She'll be getting another traipsing the red carpet at Lion King later.

All the royals who buck up and smile and do their jobs impeccably must be boiling angry right now. Kate is bearing the brunt. I hope for her sake that Smeaghan's tenure in the family will be brief because every family event and future Wimbledon from now on will be ruined for Kate otherwise.

Agree, @Hikari. Catherine and Pippa both know how to behave impeccably when the situation and HMTQ require it. This was quite like TTC when all of the "positive" body language analysis came out about the carriage and there was no feud, but then, within hours, the truth began unfolding as others who had been there started releasing the "Turn TF Around" videos. Is there something that requires the British press to print the talking points until the talking points are so wildly off that they can then print the rest of the story?

Regardless of it all, it just warms the cockles of my cold, cold heart to see megster dismissed after an hour and walked out by 4 or 5 men in grey.
She’s channeling Diana. She did that. It was even a line in the eulogy her brother delivered. Paraphrasing, but it was close to -she had a laugh that bent her double.

Love reading your observations Elle and Hikari and others on here about her style choices. My take on her horrible ongoing style choices is because she is too shallow and hollow. Narcissists are great at poaching other's sense of style, but can't do it for themselves on their own merit from their own sense of imagination or creativity. Think "Single White Female."
Can you imagine being her stylist and trying to tell her what works or doesn't for her? How about being the midwife who is trying to make her understand how to properly hold a baby?
She gives me the impression that she thinks the whole world is wrong and she's right about everything all the time. And God help anyone who has the cheek to challenge her, guide her or upbraid.

No, not a robot, but she could be gracious and not show favoritism. Most attorneys I know are keen to remain objective and neutral whenever possible, so I applaud your emotional point of view. Many I know do not approach things from that perspective.

As for the reasons MM is angry and rebelling, well, that's a book that could be written. Regardless of what is "causing" it, Meghan chose this role and her rude entitlement is also her own behavior, not some external force "making" her behave badly. Kate manages nicely, after all. Circumstances are what happen to us and where we find ourselves; how we respond to those circumstances is a reflection of our character and integrity. IMO, Meghan's responses speak directly to her lack of both.

Also, @Veena, I think that there's one additional difference.

We can't equate MM's cheering equally for the other teams during play to William's happiness when his team won. It is during the play that MM would have been expected to be magnanimous and applaud the worthy performance of both players instead of showing favoritism for her friend. She did not do that. That is the issue.

If Serena had won, then I do not think anyone would have expected MM to behave like a robot. She could have been as happy for her friend as William was for his team when they won. I see the key difference being the behavior during the play as opposed to after. We can't know what MM would have done if Serena won, because Serena did not win. But during play, I believe that MM should have been more gracious and recognized the performance of both players equally.

Megs isn't capable of "normal" in any situation. Her masks are falling off and shattering because without a script that she can rehearse, she's a shambles. Her mental instability is bleeding through and only getting worse as she is running out of people to shoulder the blame, pity her, enable her. Her desperate arrival with the baby, sans baby gear is a major tell that she is incapable of handling even the shortest public appearance spontaneously. She's desperate because she is clearly losing Harry affection. Harry has become obtuse and aloof when she's around him. I do not think she sees him very much anymore either. After seeing his contempt for her at TOC, that's just the tip of what's going on. In private, I think he's much harsher in word and deed to her and isn't buying into her crazy anymore. It's creepy. I also think he's been drinking and self medicating, which, if she's as controlling of him as she'd like to be, he's avoiding her so he can get high. If I was Harry, I'd be getting high a lot too.
At the polo, Harry didn't so much as look at the baby. As much as Harry loves babies, it was very odd that he didn't give the baby a little tickle or pat his head, or some other little bit of affection, sweaty or not. Something is way, way way off about the baby.
Also, notice that George and Charlotte didn't go near Archie at all or look towards him or anything. How weird is that? When a baby is around, kids trip all over themselves to see it, want to kiss it and ask a lot of questions. And Megs didn't make a single move to invite the kids to see him either. It's like there was an invisible no go near her and baby zone. I felt sorry for Kate at the polo as well as at Wimbledon. Nice that Pippa had her sister's back. It would have been as awkward as last year if not more so for Kate.

Thank you Elle. Sometimes I think I'm projecting from my own experiences with a narcissist close to me (now deceased). Megs is far more advanced than mine was. It's very hard for those who haven't survived navigating through a lifetime of it. That's why she has so many naïve supporters and enablers. Unless one has lived it, experienced the tribulations such as gas lighting and love bombing, alienating family and friends and... oh there's so much more to it, it's impossible for people to understand; let alone accept that the person they thought they knew doesn't exist. People are waking up about NPD, but it takes awhile; and it's very hard to overcome the blackmail along with Stockholm Syndrome that sets in when there's a child involved.

It kind of looks like MM waited till she was seated and she had Kate trapped and then she started in true narcissist style.
Anonymous said…
I totally understand on many levels, and you are strong and wise to have escaped it. It's why it's maddening when someone makes an excuse for her behavior or feels pity for her because those are just the kind of people she needs to play for her behavior to continue.

As I said above, for whatever excuses can be made about MM's anger and rebellion, she is a 38 year old woman and regardless of what the "causes" are, Meghan chose this role and she needs to be held responsible for her own behavior. It is not some external force "making" her behave badly. Circumstances are what happen to us and where we find ourselves; how we respond to those circumstances is a reflection of our character and integrity, and reiterating from above, Meghan's responses speak directly to her lack of both. When excuses are made for horrid behaviors that happen consistently, as they do in MMs case, the excuses and blame of others, it's analogous to the "he wouldn't have hit her if she hadn't made him angry" mindset, and I've zero tolerance for it. And I've zero tolerance because I've seen the impact of that dysfunction on all those who are taught to put up with it. So I really respect your clarity and honesty. The force will be with you.

Blackbird said…
Her make-up and hair is rubbish. I work in the industry and can turn many a moth into a butterfly ... much like the Suits MUAs did for Meghan when she was on the show. I haven't worked with/on Meghan, but I have worked on many ladies of full and part-colour. The main problem with her make-up that I can see (in photos that haven't been 'shopped), is congestion ... she uses far too many products on what looks like an uncared-for base. She needs to invest in some great skincare and products that enhance her features. Less is more. As for her hair ... I don't think she wears a wig, but I do think she wears pieces for volume. Nothing wrong with that, but she just seems clueless about what styles suit her.

Another observation, have you noticed that MM has a nervous habit of plying with her left earlobe? It may actually be intentional, to covey coyness and innocence, of which she is neither.

My apologies for posting Lion King on Wimbledon, but I have some dress questions:

The Lion King dress- other than the too tight and cutting the boob line, better than anything else she's worn this week. However, it looks like there are two tiny holes and a pull already on the left shoulder. Is that just a photo flaw or is the fabric pulling? It looks like a tight fit, but I'm not a fashionista by any stretch (no pun intended), so asking sincerely if that is how it should fit?

On another Lion King note, Harry at least has a genuine smile in one photo. I'm sure he's excited to see this and (hopefully) even MM can't ruin it for him.

I have nothing against her outfit (though it looked to me as though that skirt waistband was sitting higher than her natural waist). Her textures and colors didn't match, but it was adequate for the occasion.

I have to say that I am puzzled by MM. I can ascribe some of her fashion faux pas to being raised by her father (and not in the south). She appears to have put a great deal of effort into trolling for and hooking PH and reeling him in; did she not give any thought to what would happen afterwards? She married into a public relations position/dynasty, yet she has no public relations skills and evidently no desire to acquire any. She does not appear to have gainfully spent her time in an obscure television series picking up tips from the MUA and the dressers about how to present herself well. Apparently the BRF has provided people to help her appear more the thing, yet she (reportedly) does not take their advice. She SAYS that she wants/wanted children, but we have photographic evidence that she has no idea how to even hold a baby that has allegedly been cared for by her for two months. Is she just a living embodiment of the Peter Principle? Is being paid to leave her retirement plan so she is deliberately acting as unpleasantly as possible? (Are her acting skills that good?) Can it all be ascribed to mental illness? What does offend me is that our overseas sisters may think that her behavior is normal for an American woman. It is not.

Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here in the shade on the porch with my gourmet sweet tea and in my bespoke feed store hat with my feet up reading this blog and waiting for the outcome of the train wreck. (Sadly, my feet do not sport any designer bunions. I feel bereft.) I need to bestir myself, pull on my work boots covered with organic clay, and unload a half ton of vegan feed from my custom F150 before the thunderstorms arrive. Keep up the good work, ladies!

Or tax season is about to begin in the US.  The IRS just never goes away.  Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on).  There's always another one.  Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California.   That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.   Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere.  But.  The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

Christmas is Coming

The recent post which does mention that the information is speculative and the response got me thinking. It was the one about having them be present at Christmas but must produce the kids. Interesting thought, isn't it? Would they show?  What would we see?  Would there now be photos from the rota?   We often hear of just some rando meeting of rando strangers.  It's odd, isn't it that random strangers just happen to recognize her/them and they have a whole conversation.  Most recently it was from some stranger who raved in some video (link not supplied in the article) that they met and talked and listened to HW talk about her daughter.  There was the requisite comment about HW of how she is/was so kind).  If people are kind, does the world need strangers to tell us (are we that kind of stupid?) or can we come to that conclusion by seeing their kindness in action?  Service. They seem to always be talking about their kids, parenthood and yet, they never seem to have the kids
