I'll be away from my desk today, but for those of you who would like to discuss Meg and Kate's appearance at Wimbledon today, here's a place to do that!
Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event? Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th? Oscar's - March 10th? In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US. The IRS just never goes away. Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on). There's always another one. Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California. That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales. Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere. But. The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

*not really
I would offer to be your assistant but i will be too busy eating the 'caramel popcorn' (please) and probably a little tipsy after the contemptinis.
I have a feeling you are gong to be busy ; )
I cannot wait for this weekend!
What stunt is she going to pull, or plural - stunts
First we have Wimbledon
Will she be learning how to be humble and a how to behave like a Royal at Wimbledon with Kate the professional, showing her the ropes & how it's done
Poor Kate, called in for damage control once again, she must be dreading spending time with Meghan, i know i would be
Then bingo!!
The Lion king, that is going to be so interesting.
Her Royal highness Meghan meeting with Queen Bee, you just know that her self importance is going to be raised to a new level, it will be off the charts.
Yes popcorn and copious amounts of contemptinis will be needed to wash down the all of the excitement this weekend is bringing
Thank you Nutty for the new post.
I can’t wait to see what today and tomorrow will bring!
The DM sounds over megs in their article on Catherine being beautiful in green. The picture of class.
Make mine a triple, I’m hopping in the pool!
@Miss_Christina LOL ;) <> gold plated of course :)
Priceless!! The snark is alive and well :P
She would do well to realize that not every "in" fashion item is suitable for everyone.
I think that she actually looks ok today because she has kept it simple, although I believe that the shirt is Givenchy, but worn previously. A little heavy, as usual, on the bronzer.
She probably wanted to define her waist after the mocking of the green dress.
@Kate But the shirt.... it's Givenchy!!
Just a quick one as I’ve just popped in,I was wondering Narcs don’t seem to have a sense of identity and are known to copy hence when MM turned into her stylist friend the hair everything just look.
Is she channeling Ajolie as the green tent and sunnies and today’s outfit, hmmmm anybody else think this?
Go check AJ out.
I’m not going to knock the weight, women come in all sizes and shapes, but the look isn’t doing her body type any favors. I’d look just as bad in the same outfit.
I haven't seen, I must go hunt this down, but it sounds like they really did the megs up for the day. Hair pulled back (Doria, anyone?) and unflattering clothes. At least Pippa is there so that Kate does have someone for chat and who can help hold megs down when it finally breaks loose.
Oh, and awesome or not, I still have to write your names down 😉
Anyway, looking forward to the comments and observations of you all!
My quick observations are
1. Kate looks lovely but is awful thin. It seems this whole debacle is wearing on her.
2. Pippa really has it made. All of the money but no real responsibility like her sister.
3. Meghan looks decent. As someone who also carries extra weight in the stomach area, I have learned skirts are NOT my friend. A nice floral dress would have been a better choice, but Meghan has looked a lot worse.
Cheers to a great weekend!
First round of comments:
Kate: you look lovely, green is one of your best colors, and your RBF is almost imperceptible. Almost. You go, girl!
Pippa: your RBF could use some work, and I love you for it. Also, I do not think it is possible for you to move further away from megs without changing seats, but you've given it a go.
Megster: you know how women ask "do these pants make me look fat?". Well, sometimes it's okay to ask the same about shirts and skirts. Not fat shaming, just sayin' that not everyone can be spanxed into creamy white pleats and avoid looking like Doria if Doria were a slightly mismatched blob of whipped cream from the neck down. (By not everyone, I mean you.) Also, you cannot sit with us at lunch.
1. She could not act her way out of a paper bag.
2. She cannot put together 2 separated pieces of clothing.
Bonus: Face makeup by Sherwin-Williams . Color is Hubris Orange and will be available in all Sherwin-Williams stores in October 2019.
I agree that Kate is too slim. Still think she is classy and beautiful. I would love to blame it on the stress, but she has always seemed to go super slim between kids, so I think this is how she feels good.
And in the photo captioned: "Worse ways to spend an afternoon! Despite rumours of friction between Meghan and Kate, they certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves at the tennis..."
Yeah, no. I'm hoping that megs was body searched before she was allowed in. Those are 'get back, bish, I'll meet you in the yard' smiles in that photo.
All other smiles are brought to you from the set of the movie, FROZEN, another movie in megs wasn't in.
I use it here in reference to how the true emotions slip through the veneer of fun and happy. In RBF, the contempt & disgust ratio is higher than normal, particularly so with Pippa who is giving the WTF laugh and WTF do I smell? intermittently.
Love the comments - you all are spot on with the observations.
My two cents .....
WHAT was MM thinking when she chose her outfit this morning? Everyone with common fashion sense knows you do not "highlight" the areas you wish to conceal - the belt and skirt scream "Look at my 8 week post partum body". MM would have done better to wear the green dress from the polo outing with the belt it comes with. Did MM make herself look dowdy because she knew she would be sitting between two fashion plates?
Kate and Pippa - momma taught them well.
There is nothing about this woman that is natural it is ALL orchestrated. Don't worry, British people smell it too. Basically dress for the occasion sit the eff down and shut the eff up. You want privacy? 'sure' but then you calculatedly come out in public postpartum. This woman.
"Harry's wife"
"The Duchess looked glamorous in a bespoke green D&G midi dress....Meanwhile, Meghan ..."
"However, as the royals are there in an official capacity, they must appear netural and give equal support to both players."
"A source told Femail that Meghan did not appear to be clapping when Simona Halep won impressive points, instead staying 'loyal to her friend'."
I'll bet on at least one "Bloody Hell" from HMTQ today. Megster cannot/will not learn. Ticky tacky. Staying "loyal to her friend" and "modernizing" the BRF via deplorable manners and an utter lack of grace.
It's 5 pm in London. Cheers, Kate!
Maybe last year before the pregnancy MM could of pulled this look off
The shirt is so boring and basic it would look better with jeans or trousers...not a silk pleated skirt
Time she invested in a really good stylist
That forced, fake smile & laughing will be the end of her.
She still manages to get in a few snide looks though, so all is good
Why all of the 'united' buffoonery, we all know they don't like each other
And i can understand why MM is not Kate's cuppa tea
Edited, adding: "or at least until the divorce when we can all say "we tried our best to include that horror"
The DM's first photo says it all re Pippa

Now, she still wears her hair in that instagram "I woke up like this" messy on purpose look for her off-duty moments, but the complete 180 with her hair on important occassions should be noted. Someone had a word!
But the site still insists that it has no relation to $mirkle.
"It was the best she's looked all week." Truth. She vaulted over that low bar today by recycling her "I'm here to take your order" white shirt from the Endeavour Awards & a bespoke pleated, print shower curtain by Michael Kors for Target.
Silly, of course it was a *very expensive* pleated print shower curtain.
Meg does not know how to dress her body type. The pleated midi skirt is so long on her she's got it hiked up under her boobs, which of course highlights her problem areas a treat. That is a column skirt which I think wouldn't look good on anyone, but it was designed for a tall person with a figure like a column. (ie, Catherine) On Catherine it would probably be the correct length and hit at the natural waist. This is the exact same blunder she made with the waiter outfit while she was 'hugely pregnant'.
Not that she should wear it. It would make a lovely shower curtain, though.
Pippa looked the best. Her dress was light, summery . . just the thing for a day of tennis. Also, the blue floral pattern was distinctly reminiscent of Meg's Oscar de la Renta disaster from last year. Slight shade throwing by P. perhaps, though I am certain that i've seen her in that dress before, so it wasn't bought especially to mock Meg or anything. Pippa looks happy, even though her sister-bonding time was spoiled by the brash annoyance sitting between them.
Meg did try, under duress. She's looked better but she's looked far worse. At the polo she looked like the Madwoman of Chaillot. At least today she looked fit to be out in human society. So much happier, not to be saddled with 'Archie'.
Grade: C
OK, since this is kind of a free-wheeling room today . . . this is not on-topic to today's Wimbledon visit. I was scrolling through the Charlatan Duchess blog and came across this photo of Smeaghan's ex, Toronto-based chef Cory Vitiello. This picture was taken in 2014 for the Tig, back when Cory was still useful to her and providing her with a home and gourmet meals cooked by himself.
Look at who Meg threw away in her relentless quest to 'bag a royal'. His parents were shocked when he told them she'd left him, because they thought the couple was heading toward an engagement. Well, one of them was, just not to Cory.
Cory, you've had a lucky escape, mate. She 'upgraded' to a Prince, and more fool him, we say.

Congratulations to Wimbledon Ladies' Champion 2019 Simona Halep, and congratulations to the Middleton sisters for their poise and grace in their chaparoning duties today.
I noticed immediately that the white of Smirkle's shirt didn't match the white in the pleated skirt. That sort of detail gets on my nerves.
Sigh.
My sense is she tried, but as others have said, the incessant focus on her waist isn't doing her any favors right now. She at least brushed her hair, but I'm so over the monochrome look. She seems to love black and white, yet she looked simply stunning in Tonga with the blue dress that matched their national flag color. Smirks can pull off color, if only she would wear it!
My take on the Wimbledon outfit: once again, Meg is insisting on doing things herself when she doesn't have to. The white shirt doesn't match the cream colors in the skirt or the ecru bag.
That's fine for the average citizen going to a work event or wedding - "close enough" - but not for someone who knows she's going to be photographed and televised all over the world representing the British Royal Family.
When you're in that position, you need to have a professional dress you. Doria does this. She's a licensed social worker - I'm sure she doesn't have a closet full of perfectly matched Oscar de La Renta formal day wear and hats and appropriate jewelry. Someone clearly shows up with a fully-matched outfit for her, she puts it on and has her photo taken (and possibly cashes a check) and then her work is done.
Watching Meghan, the people at Vogue UK must be having conniption fits. Their September cover probably calls her "Duchess Meghan, 21st century fashion icon" or something similar, and meanwhile she's walking around in amateurish outfit after amateurish outfit.
And I'm sure she doesn't have to. Somebody would be happy to dress her properly. She just has to be willing to listen to that person.
You're right, the white shirt was not the same shade as the skirt. I have nothing against a classic white shirt, but when Farkle wears even classic pieces, they come off looking bad. That oversized white shirt was meant for trousers, unless Farkle thinks she's channeling Diane Keaton, who wears a BWS with everything. The effect was too casual and sloppy on the top, owing to the crappy half-assed way she rolled the sleeves. The skirt called for a more fitted top in a dark color that echoed the print on the skirt, black or peacock blue, was it? That skirt might have been the height of elegance on a tall, thin woman known for her avante garde style. Cate Blanchett could have rocked it out . . on a red carpet event, with the appropriate styling and jewelry. Setting aside the fact that it was too much skirt for Meghan, sizewise, it was just Too Much for an afternoon of outdoor tennis. Definitely more Met Gala/cocktail party kind of vibe. Probably was very uncomfortable to be sitting in the stands in.
This is a Smeaghan trait, though . . never judging the aesthetics of an occasion properly. Consistently she turns up with her clothes pitched to the wrong level of formality, and she veers wildly between extremes. It's either ratty jeans with holes or bedazzled Givenchy with very few happy mediums in between. Take Pippa's dress . . perfect! It was fresh and light, lady-like without being fussy. The dress code for Wimbledon is 'summer church outfit'. Ie., slightly dressy but not ostentatious. Despite having attended Catholic school, Smeaghan struggles mightily with the idea of 'summer church outfit', since it's so far out of her purview. Oh, she can do 'church clothes' if it means a plumed hat and Givenchy for a formal portrait. It's the few notches down from that she struggles with. Haute couture or 'throw on any old thing whether or not it fits' . . those are her two states of being. Today's outfit looked like the former on the bottom and the latter on the top.
I don't know what she has against color, either . . black and white (and brown and muddy green, etc.) do not flatter her, especially since she insists on using so much bronzer. That's going to be hell to get out of that white shirt.
I agree w/everyone re the white/cream. A well-done ensemble can use the two together (the suit worn by Belloq (Paul Freeman) in Raiders of the Lost Ark is IMO a fine example), but it must be done well and with intention. In megster's case, it looks like she didn't notice. And then the crisp blouse with silky pleated skirt. Sigh. I love a nice white cotton blouse and own a number of them, so it's not a diss to the blouse per se, but with that shower curtain* skirt... one or the other, but not both together.
Megster's got fashion schizophrenia of the worst sort. She seems torn between Hollywood and Sloane Ranger and Royal and Forever 21 (those split up the side ho jeans she wore, FGS), and just none of it works for her, and all together? She's just tossed fashion salad.
Unless she's charged with bringing tacky back, this whole week/month/year was a fashion fail. Maybe she can do a What Not To Wear column?
*Thank you, @Hikari for identifying the designer ;)
Smeg is swamped in her clothing again. Why does she insist on wearing everything too big?
Not in love with Kate's dress, but very well tailored.
Anyone else thinking Kate & Pippa had plans to attend together and Megs was wedged in as damage control? Who's idea? I predict we will be seeing the 2 together in the coming weeks and months. Doubt we will see Wills & Smeg together on an outing though.
Yes, they were getting along for the pictures. That is all down to Kate and Pippa. Smeaghan does not get along with anyone without a lot of help and propping up. I imagine it was an uncomfortable couple of hours for the Middleton sisters.
I'm sure that the Middleton sisters had planned a nice day out together (their first public joint appearance since 2012) to enjoy the tennis and Kate was forced to have Meghan along for the first half. Once again, the Cambridges' integrity, wholesomeness and popularity is being exploited and leveraged to make Smeaghan more palatable. It's quite shameful and is such a burden on Kate and William. Harry is not carrying his ball and chain alone; the entire family has to carry her now.
Smegs' bad behavior gets her rewards like a day at Centre Court with the patroness of the All-England Club in the box with former champions and living tennis legends. By rights, really, if Catherine's comfort or any notion of 'fairness' was in play, Smegs should not be permitted anywhere near Catherine or these high profile posh events she lives for. She'll be getting another traipsing the red carpet at Lion King later.
All the royals who buck up and smile and do their jobs impeccably must be boiling angry right now. Kate is bearing the brunt. I hope for her sake that Smeaghan's tenure in the family will be brief because every family event and future Wimbledon from now on will be ruined for Kate otherwise.
Regardless of it all, it just warms the cockles of my cold, cold heart to see megster dismissed after an hour and walked out by 4 or 5 men in grey.
Can you imagine being her stylist and trying to tell her what works or doesn't for her? How about being the midwife who is trying to make her understand how to properly hold a baby?
She gives me the impression that she thinks the whole world is wrong and she's right about everything all the time. And God help anyone who has the cheek to challenge her, guide her or upbraid.
😂
I still can’t get over her outfit, it was horrid and mismatched!
And several kilos of high beam highlighter.
As for the reasons MM is angry and rebelling, well, that's a book that could be written. Regardless of what is "causing" it, Meghan chose this role and her rude entitlement is also her own behavior, not some external force "making" her behave badly. Kate manages nicely, after all. Circumstances are what happen to us and where we find ourselves; how we respond to those circumstances is a reflection of our character and integrity. IMO, Meghan's responses speak directly to her lack of both.
Of course, if that had happened, it would at least have drawn attention away from the polo match and the previous Wimbledon appearance.
We can't equate MM's cheering equally for the other teams during play to William's happiness when his team won. It is during the play that MM would have been expected to be magnanimous and applaud the worthy performance of both players instead of showing favoritism for her friend. She did not do that. That is the issue.
If Serena had won, then I do not think anyone would have expected MM to behave like a robot. She could have been as happy for her friend as William was for his team when they won. I see the key difference being the behavior during the play as opposed to after. We can't know what MM would have done if Serena won, because Serena did not win. But during play, I believe that MM should have been more gracious and recognized the performance of both players equally.
At the polo, Harry didn't so much as look at the baby. As much as Harry loves babies, it was very odd that he didn't give the baby a little tickle or pat his head, or some other little bit of affection, sweaty or not. Something is way, way way off about the baby.
Also, notice that George and Charlotte didn't go near Archie at all or look towards him or anything. How weird is that? When a baby is around, kids trip all over themselves to see it, want to kiss it and ask a lot of questions. And Megs didn't make a single move to invite the kids to see him either. It's like there was an invisible no go near her and baby zone. I felt sorry for Kate at the polo as well as at Wimbledon. Nice that Pippa had her sister's back. It would have been as awkward as last year if not more so for Kate.
And there's a video on Charlatan Duchess showing MM being rude and stupid (quelle surprise)
As I said above, for whatever excuses can be made about MM's anger and rebellion, she is a 38 year old woman and regardless of what the "causes" are, Meghan chose this role and she needs to be held responsible for her own behavior. It is not some external force "making" her behave badly. Circumstances are what happen to us and where we find ourselves; how we respond to those circumstances is a reflection of our character and integrity, and reiterating from above, Meghan's responses speak directly to her lack of both. When excuses are made for horrid behaviors that happen consistently, as they do in MMs case, the excuses and blame of others, it's analogous to the "he wouldn't have hit her if she hadn't made him angry" mindset, and I've zero tolerance for it. And I've zero tolerance because I've seen the impact of that dysfunction on all those who are taught to put up with it. So I really respect your clarity and honesty. The force will be with you.
I have noticed several shots where Martina Navratilova, seated behind MM and Kate, looks annoyed, as if she wants to smack the back of MM’s head.
Another observation, have you noticed that MM has a nervous habit of plying with her left earlobe? It may actually be intentional, to covey coyness and innocence, of which she is neither.
Scroll down just a bit and you'll see. Also, the one where Kate has her hand on MMs arm, that's not really a friendly look IMO
"Humanitarian campaigners criticise Prince Harry's Invictus Games for being sponsored by Britain's biggest arms dealer" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7244781/Prince-Harrys-Invictus-Games-blood-money-row-sponsored-British-arms-dealer.html
The comments continued - some other sourcing. Most were waiting Bey, she arrived, yellow dress and some comment about how she may be preg.
Find the whole thing very amusing. MM big moment back and to be upstaged by Bey.
The Lion King dress- other than the too tight and cutting the boob line, better than anything else she's worn this week. However, it looks like there are two tiny holes and a pull already on the left shoulder. Is that just a photo flaw or is the fabric pulling? It looks like a tight fit, but I'm not a fashionista by any stretch (no pun intended), so asking sincerely if that is how it should fit?
On another Lion King note, Harry at least has a genuine smile in one photo. I'm sure he's excited to see this and (hopefully) even MM can't ruin it for him.
I have to say that I am puzzled by MM. I can ascribe some of her fashion faux pas to being raised by her father (and not in the south). She appears to have put a great deal of effort into trolling for and hooking PH and reeling him in; did she not give any thought to what would happen afterwards? She married into a public relations position/dynasty, yet she has no public relations skills and evidently no desire to acquire any. She does not appear to have gainfully spent her time in an obscure television series picking up tips from the MUA and the dressers about how to present herself well. Apparently the BRF has provided people to help her appear more the thing, yet she (reportedly) does not take their advice. She SAYS that she wants/wanted children, but we have photographic evidence that she has no idea how to even hold a baby that has allegedly been cared for by her for two months. Is she just a living embodiment of the Peter Principle? Is being paid to leave her retirement plan so she is deliberately acting as unpleasantly as possible? (Are her acting skills that good?) Can it all be ascribed to mental illness? What does offend me is that our overseas sisters may think that her behavior is normal for an American woman. It is not.
Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here in the shade on the porch with my gourmet sweet tea and in my bespoke feed store hat with my feet up reading this blog and waiting for the outcome of the train wreck. (Sadly, my feet do not sport any designer bunions. I feel bereft.) I need to bestir myself, pull on my work boots covered with organic clay, and unload a half ton of vegan feed from my custom F150 before the thunderstorms arrive. Keep up the good work, ladies!
>>"What does offend me is that our overseas sisters may think that her behavior is normal for an American woman. It is not." So very true. And all the rest, well said.
I am so offended by her. She is just such a liar. I hate liars. I hate posers. I hate her pretension and condescension. MM has rolled in that whole pile of merde. And I hate how the BRF and media think that the revulsion many feel towards her is racism because that minimizes an important issue, dismisses the actual issues we have with her and the BRFs enabling of her (the list is long and you know what's on it), and rewards heinous behavior.
