A few thoughts on the Sussexes' week ahead

Prince Harry appeared today in Edinburgh, Scotland, to promote his rather formless "Travalyst" project , ahead of a busy week for the Susssex duo. (And perhaps trio - nobody seems to know whether or not Archie will make an appearance.) Harry is supposed to hit Abbey Road studios tomorrow to record a charity single with Jon Bon Jovi, a single that absolutely no one asked for.  I've got nothing against Bon Jovi, who I think has aged very well, but who wants to hear Harry sing? Probably not the Invictus soldiers the record will supposedly benefit. These are men and women who have made enormous sacrifices for their country, only to see their founder and patron jack the whole thing in to live in luxury someplace else. The Invictus chorus will also perform on the song, and Bon Jovi has an eager fan base among ladies in his age group, but really - who else is going to buy this thing? Or stream it? Probably not patriotic Brits, who have had enough of the Sussexes. And I ...

Prince Harry's new project - Score your vacation's environmental impact!

The Telegraph.co.uk has announced new details about Prince Harry's project Travalyst.  From behind the paywall: "The Duke of Sussex is to launch an online scoring system to show travellers how eco-friendly their flights are, as he embarks on the first major project of his new working life. The Duke, who will return to the UK from Canada next week for the event, will share details of a prototype scheme to “bring more transparency around carbon emissions for individual flights” and make holidays as environmentally-friendly as possible. The Travalyst project, which he unveiled in the summer, will be the first of several engagements in his 12-day visit to the UK, which will include a recording session with musician Jon Bon Jovi. In a social media post yesterday, in which the Sussexes’ team mocked up a text conversation with Bon Jovi, Prince Harry hinted he would be joining in the singing on a single to benefit the Invictus Games Choir on February 28th. The Telegraph h...

Goodbye to Sussex Royal

Has the story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex entered its endgame? Late Tuesday, the Daily Mail was informed  that "as part of their new working arrangements, (the couple) will not be able to use the Sussex Royal name as they had hoped." This makes perfect sense, considering that at some point later this spring, the Sussexes' retreat from the Royal Family will be complete. If you're no longer Royal, you have no right to brand yourself as such. But it puts paid to the enormous amount of time and effort the Sussexes (read: Meghan and her Los Angeles-based team) have spent copyrighting the name and buying associated internet domains. "Dozens of trademark applications were made for everything from bandanas to notebooks," the Daily Mail reports, "although sources have always stressed that these were preventative measures to protect the trademark from others, and never intended for commercial use." Yeah, right. The "Harry and Meghan...

The Sussexes dispose of their UK staff

The news that the Sussexes have disposed of their UK staff - including a few longtime employees who worked with Harry before he met Meghan - has raised questions about whether they will ever again spend significant time in Britain, at least as a couple. It was also raised questions about their commitment to "kindness", since many of their new hires had given up other jobs to sign on with the Sussexes, and the staff have been busy defending Harry and Meghan to the media as recently as this week, according to the Daily Mail . "Meghan up to her old tricks again - getting rid of people no longer of any use to her," Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter. "I've met some ruthless operators in my time but she's something else." Redundancy packages Most of the staff are currently negotiating redundancy packages, including new hires like David Watkins, the social media manager the Sussexes hired away from Burberry. (Watkins produced some truly awful socia...

Open Post: How will Meghan spoil Beatrice's wedding?

It's now been announced that Princess Beatrice will marry her fiancé Edo Mozzi on Friday, May 29 at the Chapel Royal in St. James' palace . The small chapel was the site of Queen Victoria's wedding, and the physical resemblance between Bea and her great-great-great-great grandmother is often remarked upon. (Bea even had a cameo in the movie "Young Victoria.") The Chapel Royal was also the site of Prince George's christening - and Bea's own christening. Bea's wedding ceremony will be followed by a private party at Buckingham Palace. Duchess Meghan ruined Beatrice sister's Eugenie's wedding with an awkwardly-timed pregnancy announcement. What can we expect from Meg on May 29?

Enty's latest podcast about Meghan, with a "secret source": Is this a true story?

Enty's royal sources are hit and miss, but yesterday he announced that he had a new, better source, and dedicated a 27-minute podcast to the Meghan and Harry case. It all sounds a little shaky to me, but you can decide that for yourself. My immediate takeaway is that Enty is a man who not only has no children, but has not much understanding of how the female body works. You may agree once we get to the pregnancy section of the story. In addition, Enty is really committed to his "William and Rose affair" story, although this reliable source - just like his last reliable source - tells him it never happened. Anywhere, here we go. All the text in blue is a transcript of the podcast, which is subscription-only. (I've left out some of Enty's ums and ahs and a few side references.) Transcript Welcome to another episode of the podcast....I got an email today from somebody that I hadn't heard from in many years. This person is an expert in a lot of stuff t...

Open Post: Meg books her first post-royalty job

According to the New York Post, Duchess Meghan has booked her first post-royalty job . The Duchess will make "sporadic appearances" on a Netflix reality show about second weddings called "I Do, Redo," which stars her good friend Jessica Mulroney. No date has been set for Duchess Meghan's first appearance on the show, which is filmed in Canada and released in 30-minute episodes. What do you think of Duchess Meghan's exciting career move?
