The Daily Mail - you know, one of those tabloids the Sussexes promised never to co-operate with again - has released the "exclusive" news that Meg and Harry are now couchsurfing at the Los Angeles home of Tyler Perry.
Perry, for our non-US Nutties who may not be familiar with him, is a great American success story, Once so poor he had to live in his car, he parlayed a single theater play into a media empire based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Perry's best-known works tend toward the popular side, mostly (very) lowbrow film comedies. But he's put thousands of people to work, the majority of them African-American, and helped many Black people become behind-the-camera professionals.
What does Tyler Perry want with Meg?
Being Duchess of Sussex and all, Meg probably thinks herself too good for one of Perry's C-list productions.
There's also the small matter of her not being able to act, particularly in the highly dramatic style Perry favors.
I would not like to see thespian Meg trying to escape from a fictional religious cult.
This is a woman who fluffed a standard "baby on her lap" scene.
There are multiple reasons for this - wildfires, the large homeless population, the fact that the film industry itself has dispersed. In addition, California income taxes have zoomed upward now that state taxes are no longer deductible from Federal income taxes.
I think the reason Perry loaned his house - which is by all accounts little-used, since he's based in Atlanta - was to garner it publicity for a possible sale.
High-end foreign buyers, particularly Middle Eastern and Asian, might be impressed by a (sort of) Royal tenancy.
Those types of buyers read the Mail Online, which is why the Daily Mail got the "exclusive" scoop about the Sussexes' current location.
(They also read the Mail Online as a kind of catalogue of half-dressed yachting ladies in the right column, but that's a story for another day.)

Casting Meg in a production?
Technically, Perry could give Meg an acting job. He's almost constantly working on television series that need a variety of types. (I see his latest is a horror series about a Black woman in a religious cult.)Being Duchess of Sussex and all, Meg probably thinks herself too good for one of Perry's C-list productions.

Can't sell the house
More likely, this is a real estate play. Big houses in California have been difficult to sell recently, not only because there are too many big houses and not enough big house buyers in the market at the moment, but because California in general is losing population. There are multiple reasons for this - wildfires, the large homeless population, the fact that the film industry itself has dispersed. In addition, California income taxes have zoomed upward now that state taxes are no longer deductible from Federal income taxes.

I had never even heard of Tyler Perry until today also... lol
She would be perfect in Tyler Perry's Madea movies. Since she can't act, she could portray a "sexy maid character" - one that tries too hard and really isn't sexy. Just ridiculously funny.
Oprah is godmother to Tyler Perry's son Amal, to whom he is a single father.
For those who don't follow Tyler Perry, he is generally assumed to be gay. However, he is deeply religious and so is much of his audience, so officially he "just hasn't found the right girl yet." He is 50 years old.
@Aviendha, is your name inspired by the WoT series? That's one of my favourite book series' of all time, I'm gearing up to re-read the whole series yet again once I've finished the book I'm currently reading :D
Replying to your post of yesterday -
Yes, that's my impression too, although, to be fair, I should add that video-baby's eye colour, as far as I can make out, is not inconsistent with the possibility of him coming from a Meghan ovum.
I suspect the gene often called b' (`b dash') is involved. This, depending on what the other gene is (ie B for dark brown, b for blue, or another b') gives a light, more golden, or hazel, or ?green/?grey. Sorry, can't remember which combination gives what. I couldn't get clarity from Google.
It's called `incomplete dominance': B isn't totally dominant over b', nor b' over b. Harry can contribute only the recessive gene b, as he has blue eyes. MM's father seems to have these lighter eyes so he may have given MM the b' gene.
I wouldn't push it much further than that, except if that child had had blue eyes we could have been certain he wasn't Meghan's child. As it is, on eye colour, he may or not be
Inheritance of eye colour is probably even more complicated than how I've described it.
(FWIW my dad had light brown eyes, Mum's were blue, mine are hazel. I was once a `subject' for a Physical Anthropology researcher investigating whether there was any mathematically-demonstrable connection between hair, skin & eye colour. He matched eyes to a set of glass ones but couldn't match mine - he declared he'd never seen such spotty eyes! Yes, the irises have really black spots in them. Weird or what? Perhaps they go with my freckles, using that term in the traditional English sense of flecks of brown colouration in a paler skin.)
How different, how very different, from the home life of Our Dear Queen.
Although I must say I think Charlotte is HM's mini-me!!!
Auto correct is insisting on the capital g , I do apologize
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-8296829/Author-accused-racism-comments-Meghan-Markle.html
Bestselling author is accused of 'racism' after branding Meghan Markle 'unmaternal' and 'phony' in video of her reading to Archie for his first birthday
Emily Giffin, 48, the author of the 2005 international bestseller Something Borrowed, made the comments on her Instagram account on Wednesday
The self-described 'anglophile' shared a screenshot of a text conversation she had with a friend, in which the two of them slammed the Duchess of Sussex, 38
The video of Meghan and her son was shared on Wednesday in honor of Archie's first birthday; it was filmed by Prince Harry
While many gushed over the video, Emily branded it 'phony' and 'unmaternal' while her friend accused Meghan of trying to get 'attention'
Emily was slammed over the comments, and was even accused of racism
She issued an apology, admitting that she could 'see how some of my posts may have felt mean-spirited, and could be construed as having racial undertones'
In 2019, Emily posted a video to her Instagram account in which she criticized Archie's name and its lack of royal heritage
PoW/DoC looked very flushed and not over the virus yet. Camilla looked fantastic, forest-green coat, ladies' plaid over shoulder, fabulous Scottish bonnet.
That's Real Royalty.
Thats pretty common out there in Hollyweird to crash in a ‘friends’ guest house while you look for an impressive McMansion to buy/rent.
And that could explain the more utitlitarian common fixtures and asylum beige/white walls.
She is punching above her weight big time though if she goes after the Goop crowd. Jennifer Meyer, I am sure, has not forgotten how she was Markled, and she has more clout in LA.
It's telling how no one from the UK has recently defended their actions. At some point it becomes clear they really are just grifters.
There may be some quid pro quo happening as nothing in Hollywood is what it seems.
Not that MM is Hollywood lol. I think it's clear she is trying to rebrand and present herself as a hippy-nature mum. Her outfit and Archie's were very much in the vein of that new image. No/very little hair make-up and no designer clothing. Very unroyal, image wise. She wants to be the anti-royal Royal.
I've never heard of Tyler but as others have mentioned the Oprah connection. Oprah is in deep with MM It seems. I really don't know that much about Oprah as she really isn't well known in the UK/EU. Oprah must be invested in MM though for whatever reason.
By the way - what happened to Just Harry's work with Oprah? I forgot was it a documentary? Or has present day events out that on hold as well.
Another thought why are her sibling/father/family so quiet? They blow not and cold and I can't quite shake the feeling that everything is not as it seems with them either.
Unfortunately, there are connections upon connections in Hollywood.
Jennifer Meyer was married to Tobey Maguire (and still calls him her best friend), who is a good friend and high-stakes poker buddy of Ben Affleck, who was married to Jennifer Garner (they are still often papped together with their children). All of them are friends.
Jennifer Meyer--->Tobey Maguire--->Ben Affleck---->Jennifer Garner.
I understand he wants privacy hotels can't provide. But how humiliating is to depend on some billionair's gesture? Doesn't he see this? His dignity is completely gone.
They never thought anything through, never planned anything through, never thought of consequences.
"I find it embarrassing and off putting that the grandson of the Queen of England lives off other people."
I do, too. It's especially ironic given the couple's tantrum about financial independence. But there are reports that Harry (and to a lesser extent, Will) always expected others to pay (and by others, I mean people not within the RF; of course Charles always paid.) Using private planes that belong to others, hunting on estates that belong to others, staying in vacation homes that belong to others, even depending on others to buy a round at the pub. The difference is that Harry is now doing it on the world stage, he's depending on the kindness of others he's never met, and he's depending on others to provide longer-term shelter, not a vacation house for a week or two.
The more I think of it the more I think that Archie video was a giant FU to the Queen and BRF. Basically saying 'I control your great-grandson and - see - I can do what I like with him, no matter how unsuitable or undignified'.
M/H made the mistake of not having British advisors who might have talked them down from their fantasy of being allowed to profit off their titles and use their titles to head up grand foundations. But Megs didn't want British advisors who she felt would feed back to the BRF. Isn't Sara Latham now employed by the BRF?
MM has to play nice now I think since JG is also repped by SS. And JG will not let herself get Markled, as she is also very controlling of her image.
It will be interesting to see what happens. MM can't smear JG or leak negative stories about others in Hollywood without it seriously catching up to her. This ain't the UK.
I had not read that about Will. I have read he was unusually tight at times and expected others to be forthcoming. I can't find a link now because when I search, all I get are hits for the budget flight the whole family took to Balmoral last summer. (Hope they stop traveling together pretty soon.) But regardless, I agree Harry's reputation in that arena is stronger (and that's why I had said "to a lesser extent, Will.")
Finding "Freedom": Ex-Royals Discover the Meaning of Quid Pro Quo in Hollywood
Synopsis: Fed up with the Queen's rules, two royals ditch the palace to find freedom and fortune in Hollywood, but their ill-thought plans are disrupted by a lockdown, a lack of money, a lack of housing and a lack of clothing. Can they succeed when they discover the cost of "freedom" in Hollywood?
Also last Tyler Perry financed the Miss Universe pageant. I can totally see MM as a jury of next year pageant with her word salad about women empowerment, after all that's the new guideline of the show
I can very easily see Meg as a beauty pageant judge.
Such an eco friendly couple. Can't wait for them to preach to us plebs about global warming from their 24-hour heated and 24-hour air conditioned, borrowed estate.
1 - it's a "look, we're just like you" relatable ploy
2 - to the RF, "we're happy in LA, we don't need your stuffy rules"
3- telegraph to Charles, "we're poor, you meanie look how we are suffering," however if true
then the leaked story about Tyler Perry's house doesn't make sense. But would it be the first time MM said something and then acted in the exact opposite way?
I believe the H&M ad from the SA visit was an attempt by MM to merch Archie. Because it was taken down right away and never talked about (except for here) I think the palace put an end to those plans, and this was part of their motive to "step back" from the family. MM left the UK before the talks were even over, as I suspect she didn't want to be confronted about anything, and we had a succession of photos by Splash/Backgrid.
It will be interesting to see how much we see of Archie in the next months, as we barely saw him during his "first year" which is when parents are usually sharing lots of pictures. I will say he did not look happy the way he was sitting with MM. He looked like he was literally being held back.
Yes, the Man FNAP and his wife are, squatters, with invitation. They are not "borrowing a time share for a week's vaca", like some people do. They are living the high life for the time being on someone else's property while they "make up their minds".
I wonder if Tyler Perry had them sign a rental agreement - hope so or the Harkles may be in residence longer than the Russian hose stay.
I see her angle with the white onesie, but for the love of God why not empty the diaper. Ew.
Per the freebies article that I didnt read- my guess is it was someone trying to tarnish Will's reputation. The RF had better stay on top of this. Have we had one day lately without MM in the news? They left the RF to join the plastic royals of HW, who seemingly, at the risk of their own reputations, have fully embraced them. They who cruelly discarded their own families who gave them so much. Says a lot about the Hollywood set. Don't forget how rude this set, who all run together, was to PW and DC at Bafta. Don't be fooled by their big fake smiles.
I find it perplexing that 'this royalty' is willing to covertly and sometimes overtly throw shade at the most powerful woman in the world. I have always felt that they are using PH to push their continuing racism propaganda (big moneymaker) and his willingness to scapegoat his own family. It is worrisome that PH is willing to sacrifice his own family to further promote this narrative in the US with our media fully on board. Do we have racists here? Yes. Is it widespread, no. Whenever I hear this no matter the media I switch off the outlet.
Ive said this before but regarding the narrative our country/global elite are ramming down our throats it bears repeating. Im a white southern girl married to an ethnic minority and have been on the receiving end of blatant racism more than once. Would these elitests promoting this agenda, only applying to POC and not white ppl, defend me from being discriminated against by POC? I think we all know the answer to this question. This nasty narrative needs to be called out for this in our faces hypocrisy. All of us, of all colors, need to point this out. This is why I find these two so disgusting and the ppl they surround themselves with. This and their treatment of their elderly family members.
"Don't forget how rude this set, who all run together, was to PW and DC at Bafta"
I must have missed this one (or forgotten it, as you say not to do! : )
What year was this? What happened? Thanks!
is all this hopping around truth orjust a way to stay in headlines?
if Archie is with them, and I personally feel at best he is in same home with nanny. I think it is really gross the thought of him crawling, walking, running around smearing his body along and suckling objects not of his own house. it may be germaphobe in me but he needs his own stuff and his own home
they need to quit being selfish, find a modest house they can call their own until they can put their superstar plan in to action and purchase 30 million 3 person home..
they really come off as horrible parents. it is not just about them anymore
'Unlike other royals who seldom if ever paid for anything, William made a point of buying rounds of drinks for the house. “He was always generous, sometimes walking in the pub with a tray of twenty shots for everybody,” said Knight. “But he wasn’t flashy. He didn’t make a great big deal out of it. It wasn’t in his character. He was just a young guy who wanted to have fun.”'
While looking for this I found this quote from Diana:
"I put it to William, particularly, that if you find someone you love in life, you must hang on to that love and look after it. . . . You must protect it."
Diana may have instilled in her sons her rather adversarial view of life which has come out more strongly in Harry, maybe because less attention was paid to his upbringing than William as heir to the throne and he was also less blessed in the brains department. Diana could be very stubborn and if challenged I bet she doubled down on whatever she had chosen even if it defied logic.
Harry doesn't seem to remember his mother much, but he could still have inherited some of her character traits. He found Meghan (or rather he thinks he did) and he's hanging on to that whole disaster she has brought to his life, in the belief he is protecting her. He IS protecting Archie to some extent, as anyone would. No one would want to leave a baby with Meghan.
I was thinking about that this morning. If I was Harry and Meghan threatened to take Archie and go (which I'm sure she did as we saw her displaying her lack of wedding and engagement rings on the day she visited the National Theatre and Archie had remained overseas), I would have been equally trapped. I would put my baby above everything else. I would put A baby above everything else, even if not mine, if I cared for it and it was supposed to be mine. Rather than leave it with Meghan. For the moment I would conclude my life was totally wrecked and there was no way out. Later on, when the baby was a little older, I would try to get out. With the child.
I still have no sympathy for Harry BTW. He made his bed. He's paying the penalty for a shiftless and selfish life. The only problem is that Archie is paying too. Even if he has good carers, that woman is still in his world.
Thanks!
The dominant feature of Prince Albert’s life was undoubtedly the invidious comparison between his elder brother and himself drawn by all but the very few people who knew him intimately. Although he came to accept it as a fact of life, he minded it deeply; it had an enormous effect upon him, giving him an inferiority complex vis-à-vis his brother which even the love of his wife and family and the admiration of a nation would never quite succeed in eradicating. Years later, only a few weeks after he had become King, George VI confessed to Mrs Baldwin, the homely wife of his Prime Minister, how all his life he had been outshone by his brilliant brother and ‘there had been times when as a boy he had felt envious that eighteen months should make so much difference’.
This shows the sheer strength of conflicting feelings and resentment that can exist between royal brothers, even if they care for each other and even if the younger doesn't want to be King at all. We all know how much George VI dreaded becoming King. In this passage there is also envy and resentment about the difference in natural gifts. That the older brother was (superficially) more able. Harry has grown up knowing William was more intelligent. Many also think him more handsome. The blond, male Diana. Of undisputed parentage. His hair may have suffered, but he's still an alpha male.
Harry WOULD like to be a future king I'm sure, even though in childhood he taunted William that he had to be king and he (Harry) could do anything he wanted. We see now how much status really means to Harry. The Sussexes want all the Cambridges have AND total freedom to do and get whatever they want.
Why isn't Harry coughing up $5 million for a house of their own? Surely they can find something suitable in that price range.
It seems like Markle's got a bowl of pasta, and is throwing it at anything to see what sticks. So far, no editor job, no clothing empire, no Goop-like products, no further voice overs, no part in a super hero movie. Reading the book to Archie seemed more like an audition or something to put in her CV for future acting roles, rather than a mother-son interaction.
Rustiee
Some have noted Archie could say a few words when he dropped the book. Maybe in an alternative take he actually turned around and actually looked at Meghan and asked "Who are you?"
My all time favourite anecdote is of the writer Nancy Mitford talking to her nephew, who is now the 12th Duke of Devonshire. When he was two she asked him "Can you talk?" and he replied " Not yet."
I do want to bring up what I consider a complex issue. How do you balance the expectation of royalty and yet not get tarred with the “Marie Antoinette” brush? They must remain untouchable to maintain the fiction that they are chosen by divine intervention, and yet relatable enough so that the populace is willing to keep up an institution that almost has no function other than a ceremonial one.
We know that Markle doesn’t have a subtle bone in her body. I MO, Markle scorns ceremony for obvious reasons; she does what she wants and damn everyone else. She really doesn’t get ANY of what makes the BRF tick. She wears insanely expensive gowns and can’t understand why she’s being criticized. She appears in torn jeans and can’t understand why she’s being criticized. She tried to be relatable by holding a child in a diaper because all mothers hold their kids in diapers and onesies, except that she expects to be called a duchess while doing so.
It’s a title that is so much bigger than her, that has history, and to a woman who has manipulated her history to the point where she actually has no history, she’s either scrubbed it from the Internet or lied about it, such a concept is completely foreign to her. For her, IMO, history is something to manipulate. It is, in short, what the PR gurus (or her, obviously) decide. She’s living here, no, wait, she’s living there, oops, sorry, she’s living THERE. She is literally someone who thinks history is something to manipulate to her advantage or eliminate when it doesn’t suit her purpose. Her “amazing” Proctor and Gamble letter that changed the entire nature of P&G. Um, no, it was a school project. Her amazing speech at the U.N. Where everyone gave her a standing ovation. Um, no, she wasn’t even on the program and no one was standing and clapping at the end of her speech. There were merely clapping politely. It’s ALL illusion to her.
Of course, I think it’s valid argument that the BRF is a lot of illusion as well, but I honestly do not believe that Elizabeth II treats her role as queen as anything but as a subject to Britain as a whole. This is her duty, and this is why we are so moved by her speeches. Because she sees herself as serving Britain and not the other way around (which is obviously what Markle expected; her comments about the church smelling musty is a prime example of her epic distain for history).
IWho is bringing the BRF into the modern world? The Cambs.
I can think of one example where you have the Cambs showing how it’s done. We have them recycling George’s clothes for Louis and all three children wearing hand knit sweaters. My Irish grandmother knit sweaters like that for me when I was a child, and dare I say that Her Majesty also knit these for her grandkids, which have been passed down to her great-granckids? It wouldn’t surprise me. It’s that melding between granny and grandeur—her sitting in a room that’s over 400 years old with a pair of knitting needles while she watches Coronation Street on the telly. THAT is what Markle never gets. She thinks its about snapping one’s fingers and having people hop to it. She saw the Brits as her servants not her subjects. And she wonders why she’s despised in the U.K.
In short, she doesn’t get it because she is incapable of getting it, and this is why she continuously makes unforced errors. It has always been about the $$$. ALWAYS.
[...] Whether we’ll see a new photo of Archie marking his first birthday on Wednesday remains to be seen. It is a tradition for other members of the Royal family - we saw adorable new photos of Princess Charlotte marking her fifth birthday last week. But now that Meghan and Harry have carved a life as independent citizens, they are not obligated to do so.
Meghan and Harry could have chosen to dress Archie in baby clothes by any designer from around the world during his first year of life. But instead of swaddling him in Stella McCartney kidswear, or taking cues from celebrity new-parent friends such as Serena Williams (who dresses her two-year-old in bespoke designer sportswear and mini diva sunglasses), the couple has decided to stick with high street brands that anyone could shop with. That, perhaps, makes an even bigger statement in these times than if they had spent a small fortune on a flash designer onesie.
Bet they were surprised they decided to just go with his underwear!
Yep my username is definately WOT inspired :) :) Very interested to see the series.
Megan as a Pagent judge... I can actually see it but it makes me laugh because that is so the opposite of 'womens empowerment'. Hahahhaa.
At the Baftas this year. Brad Pitt and Rebel Wilson made crude jokes and some others I can't remember and while the Cambridges laughed it off it was in very poor taste by the actors who held a captive audience to get up and blather on like they are wont to do at every such event.
I just looked it up:
Brad Pitt wasn't at the British Academy Film Awards to accept his trophy for Best Supporting Actor in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." But his speech, as delivered by his co-star Margot Robbie in front of the royals, was one of the most memorable moments of the night. He said he would name the award Harry because “he is really excited about bringing it back to the states.” The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were good sports and laughed off the joke.
Seems like it could have been a lot worse.
Just as I never even think of the cost of the Queen's vast number of clothes (usually not couture but lavish materials and detailing) as she is the Queen. They do their duties. They do what we expect them to do. They follow the traditional royal year, marking the seasons, as they always have done. As Queen Victoria did. They provide continuity, stability, tradition and cohesion. The Cambridges are the same, and I loved your analysis of them.
All this never-ending chaos and chopping and changing we see with the Harkles is so low-rent and tacky. It's the worst kind of soap opera. Will they, won't they? Where are they? Why did they do that? Oh, they didn't do that they did this. If the rest of the Windsors are an exquisite drawing-room play (let's forget about Prince Andrew), the Harkles are the farce at the end of a seaside pier. Everything Meghan knows about how to stay in the public eye is, for royal life, wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
I just saw someone on tumblr say Harry must be under some kind of mind control cult thing...probably not far from the truth.
I also agree with Nutty that this Tyler Perry thing is for publicity to sell that ugly house*...good luck with that as it’s a monstrosity. I do think they are there or somewhere similar as the aralia plant behind MM in the video was clearly being maintained by a ‘plant service’...someone comes once a week, waters, clips the brown tips off and sprays the leaves with a polishing solution...I know because, in another life, I used to have a ‘plant service’. My point being, it may be an ugly room but they aren’t living in some ‘extended stay’ hotel/motel (although that house does look like a Best Western along I-40)
*their publicity value as ‘house sitters’ will certainly diminish over time...I mean how many times can they do this before no one cares where they live...we’re getting close to that now IMO.
As far as Tyler Perry's house, seems that H & M are just house hopping at this point. Yes, probably an Oprah connection there. Reminds me a bit of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, both extreme narcissists. While Kim has better family ties and loyalties, she and Kanye spent the better part of their marriage house hopping. Kim staying with her Mom, Kim and Kanye buying different homes and then ditching them. There is something there with narcissists. It's as if they cannot settle, they are always looking for the next big break, or big thing to come their way. In H & M's case, they have financial uncertainty so they probably are waiting to see how they make out...if Meghan can secure big jobs with acting and yes, judging pageants. The bottom line though is that these narcs never SETTLE and just be together. It's a case of life in turmoil, always moving, always jockeying for position. Frankly, it seems an exhausting way of life!
"I saw the Archie video as a kind of audition but yet again Meghan mystifies me. She'd made no effort at all. Yes I know LA is more casual but not like THAT. She just looked unkempt, messy and sweaty."
I agree. And I'm still astounded Archie didn't at least have on a clean diaper with a romper style diaper cover over it. But I just read a few posts over on Quora and those folks are convinced those things plus her grey, less processed looking hair means she's pregnant.
Excellent posts as always. I think MM "had her say" at a very impressionable age and now can't stifle the impulse. Why else would a middle-aged woman who should know better disparage her blood family and her husband's family in the press? Whose crimes were that, after telling her yes hundreds of times, told her no every now and then?
At a time when millions are out of work and thousands have perished from a deadly virus she can't stop talking about...herself.
The humanitarian angle appears to be something she saw in others and thinks she can imitate it. I don't buy it, because at the end of the day she doesn't care enough to provide a stable home and environment for her infant son, allegedly.
How Oprah Winfrey’s inner circle has become a ring of steel for Harry and Meghan
The Sussexes have reportedly been staying in the Los Angeles mansion of Tyler Perry, a friend of the US chat show host
PART ONE
The Sussexes have seemingly stepped out of one rather archaic power structure - the British Royal family - and into a more modern one.
It’s been dubbed the “Oprah connection”: a byword for the thread that supposedly ties the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to a web of famous and wealthy Americans, whose support has helped ease the way into their new life in North America. Now it seems the inner circle of chat show host Oprah Winfrey is fast becoming a ring of steel for Harry and Meghan.
Since moving to Los Angeles at the end of March, the Queen’s grandson and his wife and baby son have reportedly been living in a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion belonging to Tyler Perry, a highly paid American actor. The house, situated amid 22 acres in a guard-gated community, is said to be worth $18 million, boasting eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Ariel images show a very decent-sized outdoor pool to boot.
The link between Perry and the Sussexes? Their mutual friend Winfrey, apparently.
Sussexologists live for details such as this. For what could be more compelling a narrative than that of the Royals cast out of the stuffy British Firm and into the welcoming arms of America’s soft power tycoons?
There is certainly evidence in favour of such a twist in this modern day fairytale-gone-weird. A glamorous phalanx of overseas A-listers has well-established links to Harry and Meghan: not only Winfrey, with whom Harry is collaborating on an Apple TV mental health documentary series, but also George and Amal Clooney, Ellen DeGeneres and Serena Williams, among others.
Gayle King, an American television host and friend of Winfrey, is also understood to be close to Meghan and attended her star-studded baby shower last year.
Surrounded by figures like these, the Sussexes have seemingly stepped out of one rather archaic power structure - the British Royal family - and into a more modern one, from within which they look unassailable. It also comes with its own code of honour. Several of its members have intervened to defend the Sussexes against their anti-Megxit accusers. Winfrey, who attended their wedding in 2018, has insisted they “do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them,” amid claims she helped influence their decision to distance themselves from Harry’s family.
But the 66-year-old billionaire has also loyally asserted that she supported their move “1,000 per cent”, adding, for the avoidance of any doubt, “[Harry] did what he needed to do for his family. I don’t think anybody has any right to say anything.”
Obviously this won’t stop people saying things. Let’s face it: it’s too juicy a drama. But interventions from the likes of Winfrey do help to build up an invisible armour around a couple who have felt under siege, and they do so far more effectively than any number of lawyers’ letters to uncooperative sections of the media. It seems you cannot put a price on the cultural cache of having on your side the closest thing America has to royalty.
With great cultural power, of course, comes the ability to make lots of money. In January, James Henderson, a public relations adviser to the Duchess of York, alluded to this link when speaking to the Telegraph about how the Sussexes were likely to use their newfound freedom to make millions in the US, while turning their brand into a global empire. “The Duchess will have received offers worth tens of millions of pounds over the last year,” he said. “There are books, beauty products, clothing. She definitely has huge revenue potential. She could front a television interview show in the states. She has the Oprah connection.”
The backlash to the Perry mansion story is already taking place on social media. The main source of ire appears to be the fact that the couple still don’t seem to actually be paying their way. (It is not known whether they are renting or staying in Perry’s house as guests, leaving plenty of room for speculation either way.)
Plus the fact they have somewhere nice to live. And that they have self-determination, and refuse to wander penniless through the streets, in some form of medieval penance for crimes we would struggle to define.
But for every snipe of this nature, there will also be thousands - millions - cooing over Winfrey’s recent gift of a book for baby Archie’s first birthday. The public image battle rages on, but having the likes of Winfrey on your side can prove a highly potent weapon.

I have always felt that duty is the hallmark of this family, and I’m glad to see PC/C and W&K picking up that baton, and understanding that with great privilege comes with great responsibility.
This is why I am coming to despise Harry. It’s not that he walked away from that privilege. He certainly had the right to do so. What he didn’t have was the right to except all those perks for doing shit all. For insulting his family and their legacy. He could have just walked away, quietly, but he didn’t. That arrogant sod flipped them the bird and marched out like he was god almighty. I have never understood his appeal. I had relatives who survived the Blitz, and his Nazi cosplay made me sick to my stomach. Now we see the real Harry minus his handlers. A man who chose a soulless grifter as his wife. Who is, obviously, as shallow as he is.

Blind Item #2
The world's biggest tabloid is not doing themselves any favors in regards to trustworthiness when they can't even decide as a collective whether the alliterate former actress and her family bought or are renting and who from and what area of town.

Not being able to use his position for kickbacks any longer is putting a crimp on the lifestyle of the sex assaulting royal who also turned a blind eye when a family member was paid for involving yet another family member. Our royal won't ever go bankrupt, but he will need to get money from mom.

I do wonder about the part - turning a blind eye. any idea's?
when a family member was paid for involving yet another family member.
And he needed to do this why? Because of the rampant racism in Britain? For privacy? We damn sure know it's not for privacy. So racism it is. According to Oprah and Gayle and a whole slew of other luvvies in their circle, racism is out of control in the US as well. So they traded one racist country for another and also moved to the most papped city probably in the world.
They should just be honest and say we are pushing this narrative for our followers and we came here for fame and fortune and because we don't like walking behind the Cambridges. Most everyone knows this anyway. All these luvvies seemed to love the Queen and RF before all this but now that they've all been dubbed racist how is that going to play out going forward?
PW and DC had to be hurting about all the shenanigans HAMS pulled. The jokes were crass and lowbrow. The Cambridges of course laughed. What ever else could they do on the world stage?
During the Queen's speech I was thinking of my relatives who died in air-raids, a great uncle and aunt in the same city on the same night but not together. Their brother (my paternal grandfather) kept working regardless, moving buses to safety. My father's four schoolfriends who died in the same raid. My mother's evacuation aged two. My grandmother having her second baby in a corridor during yet another raid. Most of all my maternal grandfather smuggling Jewish children out of Czechoslovakia. The families entrusted their youngest children, knowing they would never see them again. I met some of those survivors myself at my grandfather's 90th birthday. They came from across the world with their own children and grandchildren, saying these families are only here because of you.
The Queen encompassed everything we should be thinking of this evening and spoke to the heart, as she did earlier in the pandemic. Prince Charles and Camilla were also note-perfect. A great comfort. Watching Prince Charles this morning you would never know his younger son had proved to be such a disappointment to his father, his family and his country.

PART ONE
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have played 'We'll Meet Again' every day so children can learn lyrics
William and Kate videocall veterans in a care home to hear VE Day memories – and plans for 'Victory over Coronavirus Day'
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been playing Dame Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" every day at home so their children can learn the words ahead of the national VE Day singalong, they have told veterans.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been set a "challenge" by their school to become word-perfect for VE Day, the Duchess said, adding that it had been "really lovely" to hear the song playing each day.
"We'll Meet Again", referenced by the Queen during an address to the nation about the coronavirus crisis, was an anthem of the Second World War and the focus of commemorations on the 75th anniversary of victory in Europe last night.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dialled in to a care home via video link to hear first hand the stories of veterans who served in the Second World War and remember VE Day vividly.
The Duke told them that, despite the anniversary happening in lockdown conditions, "everyone's still thinking of you all and are very proud of everything you've achieved".
The couple appeared on a laptop screen during a party at Mais House, a Royal British Legion Care Home in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. where residents drank champagne to mark VE Day.
They spoke to four veterans including 101-year-old Charles Ward, who served in the Special Operations Executive and passed on encrypted messages from Winston Churchill, as well as staff.
Explaining how he ended the war as a sergeant stationed in Greece, Mr Ward said: "VE Day was very good – I had to go round and give all the men a drink of rum."
"I bet you were the hero of the time there," the Duke told him, laughing.
Asking after the residents' well-being and how they were coping in lockdown, the Duchess said: "It must be really hard not being able to see your families."
Speaking of her own grandmother, who served at Bletchley Park, she said: "It's so sad that she's not here today – I'd love to speak to her more about it."
Saying that Prince George has just started learning about the Second World War and would be "honoured" to hear the veterans' stories, the Duchess added of her own children: "The school has set all the children a challenge, and they're currently trying to learn the lyrics and the song to 'We'll Meet Again', hopefully putting that all together.
"So it's been really lovely having that playing every day."
Describing the conversation, James Pyett, 95, said: "When William and Kate were talking to us, they asked about the end of this period we said we'd celebrate it like VE Day, but we'll call it VC Day – Victory over Coronavirus."
"Exactly James, I quite agree," the Duke told him.

Thanks for sharing your stories, your family stories and stories of real struggle in the face of adversity, people who overcome. So inspiring! unlike stories of people who are victims of slights and perceived injustice.
They remind me of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The Duke had a generous allowance from the royal family, but it wasn't enough for the extravagant lifestyle the couple felt they deserved. The Duke was constantly asking his brother to increase his allowance (I wouldn't be surprised if Harry was pestering his father for more money) and complained bitterly that he wasn't allowed to cash in on his royal status. The end result was that the couple became big-time moochers and freeloaders, attaching themselves to very rich nouveau-riche types who were happy to pay their way in exchange for the status of being friends with 'royalty'.
Another parallel? The duke also kept begging his brother to give Wallis a HRH title. He became the Duke of Windsor when he abdicated and she automatically became the Duchess of Windsor upon their marriage, but the HRH could only be conferred on her by the King, who refused to do so despite numerous requests from the duke. That didn't stop the duke from insisting that she be addressed as Your Royal Highness by their staff and friends. According to CDAN, MM insists that she be known by her title instead of her name.
Oh, apart that is, from publicising his secret trip in a millionaire's jet to take up residence in that millionaire's mansion.
No message of remembrance from the Quisling Prince, no support for his countrymen, nothing except timing a press release to deliberately try to blow the rest of his family off the front pages.
I totally forgot to introduce myself yesterday because I was so disgusted by the unscrupulous flaunting of a small child.
Very longtime lurker, second time poster. Thank you very much, Nutty, for providing this platform to us. I can‘t put in words how much I appreciate your handling of (and running the risk of exposing yourself to) such a complex topic. At some points it must have been difficult for you to maintain a thoughtful presence, but you simply manage to do so, graciously and patiently.
Concerning those housing ideas flaunted in the media - true or untrue (as usual in Meghan Markle‘s world) - aren‘t they terribly bad taste? Would a young family of three, two adults and a toddler, really want to live in one of these? Keeping in mind that no matter of how many rooms you own you are only able to be present in one at a time? Are you going to develop a time sheet to keep up to the all those rooms you live in?
But most important is upkeep and I think that is why they will infinitely be restricted to couch surfing. Take a thorough look-around of where you live. One bathroom? Two of those? Multiply this with - what was the number? - six? Who is going to clean those on a weekly basis? Have a look at where they are supposed to be living. Who is going to do all the cleaning of all of that? Hoovering all that living space, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining the gardens, looking after the pools and sprinklers? Security? A lot of staff is needed for this kind of accommodation, it quite is a very very expensive kind of life style. Buying the place, even for 15 millions, is just the beginning.
Who is going to pay for that? I assume that Harry has never spent a thought on these topics. He has never had to deal with anything like this. School fees and travel costs were paid for, houses where renovated, lackeys and limousines, even coaches and flowers appeared, security was on tab, gardens were kept immaculately, state dinners were served, jewelry was provided for.
I am quite sure that Harry‘s naive idea of „providing for himself“ was the occasional take-away and some clothes (shoes obvs they werent‘t). He has no idea of what life would be like outside of his of doorstep, the doorstep being a palace. Meeting real life there until now would always have been a lackey to help him along - being paid by someone else then himself of course.
So why - at the moment - headlines are that the Markles are staying at Tyler Perry‘s real estate? They are connected via Oprah, one of them has a horrible house to let that needs to be advertised. The other party has a horrible reputation and desperately needs to stay in the public eye.
I also think I am lucky in the sense that my parents emigrated in 1955 to escape the rationing that was still going on, so while I don’t understand everything that comes along with being British, I have a foot in both camps in a way. My father was a Glaswegian, and the Germans bombed the hell out of it because it was a huge ship-building port. He had rickets from malnutrition. When I think about Harry, I think of my father’s rickets. Sod him!
There is an essay that should be written about the individualistic culture that has been the touchstone of American ethos since the landing of the Mayflower, which is the antithesis of what I see as British culture, where history is such a huge ethos of English culture. I do think that this cult of the individual is part of Markle’s pathology (to say that she’s not a team player is stating the obvious), but that’s not for nutty’s space!
Given American culture, I would have more sympathy for Markle if she weren’t so vindictive and greedy. Had she stumbled along making mistakes that any rube in a foreign country would make (and laugh at herself for it), then I think she could have generated a lot of sympathy. Her narc self CANNOT laugh at herself. And her greed was so OBVIOUS that I cannot understand anyone supporting her; I find the sugars baffling. It’s one thing to say, oh, who cares who Harry marries. What does it matter? That stance I can understand, and there are times when I ask myself, why do I care what Markle wears and her PR gaffes? What I cannot understand is this lionizing of an ordinary woman who couldn’t make in acting because she has almost zero talent but who is seen to be on par with the Queen! This to me is inexplicable.
@ Longview I agree completely. So much for those crocodile tears about wanting to be back in the service.
back story of him).
To me it just keeps proving to me the Unremarkable Duo can’t afford anything they’d want to make public. They are now coming off far worse than the free-loading York’s, they have no shame or pride, none whatsoever.
I’m still reeling from that truly ghastly video for Save The Children charity, of which The Princess Royal is its patron. What a slap in the face and insult to her, not forgetting the terrible PR for the charity! It was all about Megsy, she was more interested in the camera/audience than Archie. She was as interested in him as he was her. She couldn’t even bother to dress him! Horrid and oh so tacky! Plus did the Duo ask permission from The Princess Royal? I don’t think they did, Catherine did when she did something for the charity with Charlotte?
My two cents and three dollars regarding the wealth of anybody printed in papers or the Internet:
Many people look at Forbes magazine list of wealthy people, and think that what is written must be the truth. Well, Forbes is owned by a Chinese company, to be begin with, so take what is written with a silo of grain, not a grain of salt. Nobody is worth what is written in Forbes, or the DM, or whatever. I know that for a fact. M worth $5 milllion, according to news articles? Scamming. Oprah worth billions? Laughable. I have friends and family that are amused about any known wealth of any other person, as I and they know personally what they are worth, and nobody has ever heard of them; these extremely wealthy people keep their identities locked up on purpose.
Tyler Perry worth $600 million plus? Who gives out fantasy earth numbers - their PR? It is excruciating to read comments from people who think the Queen is worth billions or trillions of pounds. Frankly, 95% of the British Royal Family wealth is owned by the government/taxpayers. Why did Charles have to ask the Queen for a loan to pay off Diana, and the Queen was still not “rich” at the time, due to her father paying his brother David, Duke f Windsor, for Sandringham and Balmoral. If the Queen had billions, why is Andrew in debt for a Swiss villa? Does anybody ever question preposterous and outright silly incomes and wealth? I could say “Nutty” is really a billionaire, and many people would say it was true, I read it somewhere! (I hope you are, Nutty! Please share if you can!)
The HAMS are too stupid to ever think about anything but what they did yesterday. They are incapable of seeing the big picture.
Does this article answer your question about the Clydebank bombings? What a terrible tragedy.

Re The Video, at the 2:15 mark, when Archie drops his chosen book the second time, he says, “can’t get it,” as she restrains him from picking it up again. STRINGING WORDS TO FORM SENTENCES DOESNT HAPPEN BY ONE YEAR OLD. EVER. That is a 19m - 2y milestone. Archie also has too many teeth for one year. There are glimpses of four up and four or more down, and he’s teething towards the back as he gnaws on the book. Meghan also told a little girl the first week of November 2019 he was crawling and had two bottom teeth. The earliest those happen are 6m - 1y. That baby is 18m or older for sure. He’s got Harry’s face shape, but absolutely not his eyes. Those are Thomas’s eyes, lips and Dorias nose for sure. He looks like Thomas more than anyone.
@Longview
I am also very surprised that Harry didn’t bother to make a statement of some kind to mark VE Day. Especially after his whining about having his life turned upside-down and missing his military patronages so desperately. Maybe M has him locked up in a room with no phone or computer.
What was the press release?
Wonder if that 150 million private jet met with Travelyst standards
Good one!
The jet, a E-190 can (according to wikipedia) carry up to 100 passengers in a two-class configuration or up to 124 in the single-class high-density configuration
So, that very large plane flew from its base in Atlanta (empty I presume) to Victoria, to fly a family of three + their staff (how many, maybe 5?) to L.A.
The private jet trips to Elton's place (in a mere 12-seater aircraft) and their much-needed vacation in Ibiza pale in comparison.
Did Harry purchase carbon offsets for the equivalent of 100 passengers?
I believe someone high up at Us Magazine said they got lots of insider stories after MM came on the scene. Prior to this they did not have any source at the palace, according to them.
The whole thing was offensive and insulting - the poor Cambridges just had to sit there and let it wash over them.
Eye colour: I wonder if there has been some misreading of what wrote. I used a double negative.
I said that the eye colour evidence, as far as I could make out, was not inconsistent with the baby being MM's child. In other words, he might be her baby, he might not. It neither proves nor disproves anything.
H's military service: from what we've heard about the reality of his time in the Army, I can only imagine that the military greet his recent comments with a hollow laugh.
VE day: We had what is best described as `street cocktail party' - a few flags, BYO glass of something, with good conversation. I wore my father's medals from 1st & 2nd wars, always a good talking point. Dad was an RAF radio operator. He never spoke of being on sorties but I suspect he did go. He only talked about thwarting the Knickebein navigation system in order to fool the enemy bombers into dropping their load early, onto open country rather than the cities they were aiming at.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Beams
3 of my cousins died in the War, 2, brothers, were RAF and died in crashes, 1 was a merchant seaman who died during a convoy. Previous husband's brother was incinerated alive in his tank in Normandy. Of course, I never knew them.
HM was magnificent this evening.
I joined in my mums street party by phone, cheers!
The Queen was magnificent. I choked up at Dame Vera/Katherine Jenkins
“We’ll meet again” Wonderful

I'll ask my husband too - he was telling me what he could remembers about raids on Edinburgh & attempts to destroy the Forth Bridge. He may know more about it from closer to the time, although the Great Cultural Divide in Scotland is between East & West Coasts. Am not sure how well events in England were reported in Scotland, or how much attention was given to them. Nationalist sentiments were had been stirring even before the War - SNP was founded in 1934 from 2 earlier parties.
Interesting project though.
Thanks to everyone who shared their family's experience s during WWII. It's incredibly generous of you, and so inspiring. I'm humbled. I love the way you celebrate your history. Together.
I suspect Haplesses' failure to acknowledge the anniversary of VE day will be, like his failure to attend the military event in order to network for his wife, a failure that will dog him the rest of his life. It won't be forgotten. Just like the Eternal Lady of Racist Victimhood forgetting Black History month. Although I believe she is incapable of regret.
We have been hearing about Harry's series on mental health for a very long time now. Although a long-running time in Harkle-years is actually only about a year. When are we going to have the pleasure of a tour through Harry's psyche? Or at least be spared more chatter regarding the project.
Of the many things that amaze (appall?)Me about the Harkle drama, there are a couple that I just can't believe the whole world doesn't see and condemn. I can't believe that anyone would look at this couple, and be able to defend them.
The first of course, is the race-baiting. Why isn't every journalist, particularly those of color, howling at the absolute absurdity of these claims?
And the second is the bold-faced hypocrisy of the pair. In every aspect of their lives, but especially concerning their "woke" credentials. The list is added to every single day it seems:their environmental causes, her feminism, their desire for privacy, and simplicity, their desire to be financially independent. And their cruelty while spouting kindness.
Their entire life is an exercise in gaslighting.
And equally startling is again, the supporters!!
I honestly don't know how either can look in a mirror.
Maybe that explains the slovenly appearance.
Thank you all, especially @Nutty for giving us a place where we can do a sanity check, and perhaps vent a little.
Also, this may have been shared by someone else but I thought it was hilarious. Some commenters on DM said their book title should be 'Finding Freebies'. Cracked me up.
🙂
It probably should be Our Lady of Perpetual Victimhood
So Lifetime is doing yet another ghastly movie entitled: Meghan and Harry: Escaping the Palace.
Yes, really.
I guess we can look forward to a Von Trapp Family escape over the mountains of southern England. While wearing matching outfits. And singing.
https://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/movies/a32416450/megan-markle-prince-harry-escaping-palace-lifetime-movie/
Regarding the bombing of the Glasgow shipyards. I think it was a similar mentality. That they didn’t want to broadcast the damage because it would have severely affected morale. Same with the bombing of Coventry (which FLATTENED Coventry). They had already broken the German codes, but Churchill made the decision to sacrifice Coventry so that they could keep on getting coded information from the Germans.
There is also enough evidence to say with confidence that Roosevelt knew the Japanese were going to bomb Pearl Harbor. The American congress was violently isolationist at the time, and he knew that no matter what horrors were happening in Europe, that Congress would authorize war with Germany or Japan unless American soil was attacked, The Japanese needed oil, and if the Americans entered the war on the Asian front, then it was severely hamstring them. Of course, it totally backfired on them, and Americans met the challenge as much as the Brits did with the invasion of Poland.
And I fuss over making a decision on what to wear in the morning!
Harry? SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!
"Harckle-years"--ROFLMAO!
To all who shared their VE celebrations. Thank you. My father served in WWII. I miss him
Random thoughts:
1. couch surfing. I always thought that was screaming "broke" and embarrassing
2. Hollywood is shut down. When it opens up every single actor/actress will be cut throat to get work. every single one. with talent. why does MeMe think she can command a huge salary? she has no talent
3. Anyone in Hollywood who hires her (like for a movie) is shooting themselves. The Harkles are poison in the UK, not liked in Canada (soaked the Canadians for security costs knowing full well they weren't staying), and probably not going highly received in other common wealth countries so .... not a lot of overseas marketing options.
4. Oprah has been trying to buddy up to the Royal family for decades. This isn't it,\
5. A broken clock is right twice a day. I worry that sooner or later The Harkles will land something.
6. I feel for "Archie" I don't think e]ither parent is capable of being a true parent.
7. Always felt the appeal of MeMe for Harry was that she also liked and seemed, allegedly, to partake in his hobbies. Perfect match for him in that respect actually.
Thats it. Have at it.
Re: The Blitz on Glasgow and Clydebank.
We don't hear about it because it's not London-centric. Neither were Belfast, Peterhead, Gourock, Newcastle, Greenock, etc, etc...
As far as the embarrassing relations go, they are still relations, so you invite them to family things (we all have them) but these two tools need to be firmly sat at the back with Louise and Gabriella, and the Duke of Kent. No processions, minimal focus, adjacent-pomp only.
They poison everything they come in contact with. Social-distancing heavily required here. IMO
“Our lady of perpetual victim hood” hahaha perfect.
“Finding Fault” with anything British...
Could they become Governors General of Necker Island (during this transition period whilst it's collateral)?? Lololoo
What a pair of utter planks! They're so embarrassingly oily. It's like watching "The Office" but switching the channel before David goes there, and yelling "Nooo! Don't!"
I think I finally hit my harkle limit. I do not intermingle with such characters in my real life so why I do in my free time is rather questionable to me especially since they irritate heck out of me.
one saving Grace is Archie looks well cared for. someone is doing nice job but what a psychological nightmare he is headed for. I hope they get it together for his sake
As MM remakes herself into a WOC, I expect her to star in a Perry Oprah Roots re boot or I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. Heck, she could even dump H for Tyler. He's worth millions and millions, Smegs would not care if he is gay--as long as he pays the bills and puts her in front of the camera.
On a happier note, besides singing songs, what special foods or drink did you partake of, for VE Day celebrations [sorry it is still Friday for me]?
She thinks she has made it in Hollywood. I used to live in Marina del Rey in Cali, she is right up the alley of the people there. The hangers on are real....anyone who might bring up their star is revered. It’s truly an alternate reality.
Thank you
G G (gross ghosters) of Fecker Island...
Re- The Office UK, I’m loving Ricky Gervais “Afterlife”
@Crumpet
I’m in Oz but celebrated VE Day on the phone to my mum in UK
with a couple of cheeky G & T’s 😉 mum drank tea ☕️
Don’t think she did ? Could be waiting until Sunday, Mother’s Day?
She’s probably too busy washing onesies’ & changing nappies!
As for Archie...
To add to my post above:
8. I think they're holding out for really big $$$ post pandemic for a pap of the three of them. Don't think they'll get really big $$, only small $$ because people no longer care.
Question about one of your earlier observations about JH and M having hobbies they share? What.would those be?
I think by "hobbies", @Musty means drug consumption hobbies.
Harry's fondness for cocaine has been commented on in the British media for some time, and Meg openly enjoys smokeables, which she gave away as party favors at her first (second?) wedding.
You touched on what I believe is Oprah's life goal- to be honored and thought of as highly as Maya Angelou. Yes, Oprah is blindingly wealthy, but she lacks the cache of being a world-renowned author, poet, activist and professor. Maya was internationally respected in literary circles, and the beloved guru of not only the African American community, but of the world. I greatly admired her work and studied her writings in college.
No matter what Oprah does, she will never reach those heights of respect, but she has been cultivating a crowd around her to attempt to rise to Maya's heights. She stuck to Maya like glue, hoping that once Maya passed on, that she would replace her in the eyes of the world. It never happened for Oprah, no matter how hard she tried. She never attained that international respect.
In what was called "the mother of all birthday parties," Oprah put on an over-the-top party for Maya, described below. When asked if she flew in 50 waiters from from New York, Oprah replied, "No, 52!" Ugh! There's nothing innately gracious about Oprah, and that's another reason why she will never be as revered as Maya.
There are photos of Oprah literally bowing at Maya's feet, and she once chastised a fan who called the author Maya, with Oprah telling the fan that "You have no license to call her Maya. She will always be Ms. Angelou." Actually, Maya would be addressed as Dr. Angelou. I believe that Oprah took advantage of Maya in her later years.
Megs is as close to the royal family as Oprah will ever get as a former US talk show hostess. So, now she is latching onto The Harkles. She will continue to help them and cultivate their relationship, hoping that this will elevate her in the eyes of the world. I think she wants Megs to bow to her as she once did to Maya, and I think she is also looking for a replacement for herself when she passes and may have chosen Megs. She was looking at Gayle for this, but the world-wide respect never happened for the morning news host, who got that job through Oprah.
Oprah began to give Maya extremely lavish birthday parties every five years, with the world's elite attending- not for Oprah, but to honor Maya. Most of the photos of the 85th birthday party, the most lavish of all, have been scrubbed from the internet, but here's a bit about it:
https://www.questia.com/magazine/1G1-13923152/oprah-throws-a-party-biggest-birthday-bash-honors
1. The need for 'privacy'. I think it's not privacy as we understand it but 'privacy' from the BRF, being able to do as they please without anyone asking questions. They needed to be liberated from the 'yoke' of the BRF.
2. The constant conflicting info re housing: they were in the big mansion in Vancouver, they were not (no more security), they were buying a house in Malibu, now they're in Beverly Hills etc is to keep in the news. Never mind if the info is wrong as long as their names (well, hers) is in the paper. Where will they be next? It can't all be due to journalists making things up.
I dread the 'wedding anniversary' coming up. More rehash of the ghastly wedding? It never stops.
I didn’t know that Oprah calls her home “The Promised Land”
That distant land, “The Promised Land”
Is where our Megs was heading
She set her sights on Oprah’s Heights
And began her desperate begging
Have no fear cos Tyler’s here
Willing to do her bidding
Be careful mate, and do not wait
To set about her ridding
https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1279075/Royal-feud-Prince-William-stole-Prince-Harry-limelight-Royal-Family-outing-Britannia
That is an absolutely ridiculous article. What more can I say?
I kept reading and it was like wait what and then it ended . embarrassing
I too dread the “wedding anniversary”
Multi rehashed shots of the vile veiled bride.
I don’t think it’s just privacy from the RF,
the RF will be fully aware of anything/everything they do....
They/she wants to control the narrative of
Wonderful, marvellous Megs, not going to happen.
The 'vile veiled bride'!!! Ha ha! So shy and retiring. This could be another post for Nutty, how do you think the Harkles will celebrate their second wedding anniversary? Anything for publicity, sorry, meant 'privacy'.
I love your posts and your way with words, also Jocelyns Bellini's and Wild Boar Battle-maid. Thanks for the laughs :).
Oh, for crying out loud!
Also, about H not making an appearance (video) for VE does strike me as odd.
Looks like Oprah is heavily invested in these two and it will be interesting to watch how things unfold with the trio and the timeframe. It will be tricky until C19 is under control and even then economies will be in shambles in many countries.
Thanks, not always sure people “get me”
You need a publisher. Your poems are gold. The book would probably be a best seller in Britain.
If Megs and Haplesss had any brains they would have stayed in the UK, lived in Frogmore and lived very quietly. Carried out Royal Duties with a minimum of fanfare, with Megs dressing modestly and restraining her forward behavior. But swollen egos prevailed. And Hollywood beckoned, with tales of tens of millions of dollars to be easily made. With the American Megsy making millions off a British Royal title she had for a grand total of 18 months. No wonder the BRF put an end to that! Then Covid made their profiteering even more difficult.
Second, the Perry mansion ploy seems to mirror what she tried to do with the Balmoral birthday party nonsense. She puts it out there to force someone's hand. In this case, I think she is gunning for accommodations and ain't no way the girl is gonna settle for a $5 mill homestead. She wants into the big leagues. The added benefit of this strategy is dragging JH's reputation through the mud with her. Imagine a prince of the realm freeloading.
It is quid pro quo for Perry in free advertising. God knows if it's even remotely true. We really don't know where any of them are. Smoke and mirrors.
Re. Keeping up Appearances (no, not H&M, the sitcom), remember it was 'Richard, dear'.
Perhaps you could write a little poem or limerick to mark the upcoming wedding anniversary (another epic bore-fest).
When the phone rings at the DE & someone says "Hello DE, it's me The Bottom of the Barrel, would you like to scrape me?" the DE jumps on it before the Barrel can finish it's sentence.
Considering the article reads like more of the "planted PR" we've come to associate with that pair, my mind read the "Hello DE" sentence in Meghan's voice lol
As a blot on the life of us all
Whatever he married
We soon saw she carried
The sign of the devils spawn
Thank you. Your little poem is for everyone! I'm not in the same league as you but have been inspired! Not the best but I tried 😉
What a two years this has been
Breaching etiquette
But lining her pocket
Is this the worst we’ve seen?
This sh!t will continue unabated
But I'm not sure all will be revealed

What a life?
@maneki, I think you are right about the need for privacy. Of course they want everyone staring at them, and "envying" them (as if) but Kim Jong Harry and Meg Yo Jong absolutely, definately, and finally will not be questioned. Not by the BRF, not by her own family, not by the press. They are suing the British press today, but soon it'll be the U.S. PREss.
What they really want is to stop the commenters. Do any of the papers they are working with allow comments? Have you noticed the DM has moderation on more often now? Now that they are/aren't working with them. And why no Instagram or twitter? They can't take the free comments.
That's going to work against them since most of those clicks come from people who want to comment negatively.
So much for a free press. They are total autocrats and their woke sycophants don't see it or care.
Tyler Perry will probably soon be Markled. And eventually Oprah as well.
More damage from Sid and Nancy. I honestly think the world will be a better place when they are the Duke and Duchess of Obscurity.
To end on a funnier note. Did you see someone laid a large pile of dung on the steps of the London GOOP? I like to think Megs is responsible. Or even better, next.

Thanks so much for the link.
The Queen modernized the Monarchy. What a great Lady. Timeless. Loves her country, her people, her church. There are often times I think the US would have been better off
had we remained with Britain, especially what we are left with today as rulers. God save the Queen and long May she reign.
@gerberdaisy you are welcome🙂
Part 1
Thinking & reading about Clydebank ( not to be confused with Clydeside), I first heard of its destruction when I was 13 or 14. We were going to Scotland for our holiday, travelling overnight by train. The seats were cheap enough to be affordable but it meant trying to sleep in an ordinary railway carriage.
Alas, we were assailed by a woman determined to tell us about the awful time she’d had when Clydebank was bombed. She would not stop talking. Once we’d arrived at Glasgow St Enoch’s, and escaped, Mum muttered something like `We know Clydebank caught it badly – did she think we’d never heard of it?’ (in 14 she was in Hertfordshire, Dad was at RAF Lossiemouth)
I suspect that Clydebank was no more `hushed up’ than any other place that was flattened. Radio and papers were censored, raids were mentioned only vaguely - `a town in the south’ (Plymouth? Southampton? Portsmouth?). A devastated city can’t be concealed indefinitely – news eventually seeps out, despite exhortations that `Careless talk costs lives’ and `Walls have Ears’. I can recall the image of ruined Plymouth, as I saw it from a train, in 1949.
To me, it's doubtful if many working-class Scots had contacts telling them about events down south in England.
Here’s what Angus Calder, a Socialist Scot, wrote in 1969 in his book The People’s War:
`There was still, in March 1941, much grumbling about wartime inconveniences, which now in the south were taken for granted... only one Glasgow resident in eight expected heavy raids in the future; Clydesiders had all sorts of wishful theories, political or “scientific” as to why the Luftwaffe would never bomb them. “The blitz? What’s that, lass?” asked one Dumbarton woman…’
(All this is drawn from Mass Observation reports.)
For the people, the effects of the raid were worsened by the lack of proper air-raid shelters and the German bombs falling on dwellings rather than the factories and shipyards. Furthermore, many people lived in tenements, or blocks of flats. Try searching `Dunn St Clydebank’ on Google Earth, the StreetView – there’s a surviving block, plus former bomb-site beside it – it‘s on the map of `Bomb hits on Jellicoe St….’, at:
https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/research/learning/features/the-clydebank-blitz-13-15-march-1941
The damage to housing was profound `35,000 of its 47,000 inhabitants were made homeless. It had `the honour of suffering the most nearly universal damage of any British town’ (Calder).
The human statistics of war, however, were kept quiet after any incident, mainly for the sake of public morale. There were no day-by-day updates on injury and death. Today, the relentless daily publication of Covid deaths has been criticised as affecting our mental health – which is the better decision?
There was enough to do as it was – rubble searched for the injured and dead, the injured cared for, buildings shored up, water- and gas -pipes & electricity cables repaired, and holes in the road filled in.
It might be worth looking at the disaster at Bethnal Green Underground station, on March 3, 1943. Here, there were suddenly 173 deaths, thanks to a panic at the surface affecting those already calmly descending the staircase. One person tripped on the stairs, panicked people were shoving from above, producing a crush below. Think Hillsborough but worse.
Nobody in particular was to blame, apart from the original designer of the station who could not possibly have foreseen this. Churchill was blamed for the `cover-up’ but my mother, a very ordinary woman, 20 miles away, knew about it.
`The dead were quickly loaded onto lorries to be taken away, while the injured were taken to hospital. By the following morning there was no evidence of the shocking events which had occurred.’
(My comment - Unlike the destruction of a city, where the evidence was obvious, from a train window, four years after the War.)
https://www.unilad.co.uk/news/britains-biggest-tube-disaster-
It was certainly the biggest Tube disaster; it may have been the biggest civilian death toll in a single incident, (Clydebank was 2 nights of bombing) where all bodies were recovered and confirmed dead, but the largest, at a stroke, may have been the collapse of Hallsville Junior School, Canning Town;
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/blitz-bomb-killed-600-in-school-248302
The number of confirmed dead, ie bodies found, was 77 but there is good reason to think the true number was 600 or so, most of whom could not be dug out in time.
At Clydebank, `Official estimates… record that 528 civilians perished, though it's suspected that the true death toll is thought to have risen above 1,200.'
At:
https://www.scotsman.com/whats-on/arts-and-entertainment/recalling-clydebank-blitz-76-years-1454123
Are these cases of `cover up’ or is it that they just weren’t publicised at the time? Or is it that the difference between `estimated' and `confirmed' deaths isn't appreciated?
What would have been gained by telling the world, including the Enemy, that it was thought that hundreds of people had been buried alive? What would have been the effect on the rest of the population?
As was so often sarcastically said `Don’t you know there’s a war on?
I did not know about the Clydebank bombings, and am grateful for the lesson.
I lived in England during the Hillsborough incident. Was so horrified and devastated that I literally could barely accomplish anything for a week. The children of Clydebank … well. I don't think I'll ever find any words.
Your post was a privilege to read.
The thought of Harry, the so-called Captain General, thumbing his nose at the Royal Marines in favor of some musical, where he pimped his wife out to Disney, and saying not a single word about VE Day at all, burns me to no end, more than anything else he's done.
I'll never be a "hater" of anyone, but he keeps pushing my buttons.
Charity Commission intervened over £350,000 of payments to Duke of York’s private secretary ...
https://www.ft.com/content/03d8400b-38a1-433e-9729-c264857d11e0
I assume that Prince Andrew used donations to the charity pay the salary for his private secretary (who was also a trustee for the charity). The Harkles have registered their charity in a state in the USA where they can use most of the donations to pay salaries, including for themselves, and pay for all sorts of 'expenses', but it is an international world and I can see the two of them getting themselves into a huge amount of trouble in record time.
Thank you, Lucy, I understand now because I didn't before. I had to go back & check my post. The 'epic bore fest' related to H&M's upcoming wedding anniversary (i.e., probably a rehash of old photos etc), certainly not to a future poem by Magatha. I can see how this looks, and offending is never my intention.
Magatha, I am truly sorry if my wording was ambiguous. I would never insult or offend anyone. I do enjoy your posts so would not write anything offending. I'll be a lot more careful when I write in future. I am absolutely mortified. Please accept my apology.
Some years ago, Tesco was building stores that looked like the entrance to Auschwitz.
Is there any meaning to this, beyond there being some damn' stupid architects about? As well as idiotic clients?
H&M announce they are stepping back and post their "manifesto". Why the need for the distinction? They had already been on "break" and so who would notice if they simply worked less?
It appears they didn't gain anything from their "exit" except the option to make money and they were not formally stripped of their titles. Why would they agree to these terms? (Harry really; since MM was not there and was not conferenced in on the phone). It makes me think the RF has something on the two of them (Archie?) that for some reason, they agreed to walk away without anything (except PC still likely pays the bills).
MM’s ego is such that sooner or later she attempts to out-diva everyone: Her Majesty the Queen; Serena at the U.S. Open; Michelle O. at her book signing; etc.
It’s at that point the relationships break down. The thing is, NO ONE out-divas Oprah, so it is going to be epic when MM crosses that boundary. And she will!
Thank you. I have tears in my eyes.
And @LT Uhura is right. A perfect compliment to VE Day
I also suspect that they are occupying a guest wing, plus 'servants' quarters'. I just hope Archie and his nanny are making full use of the grounds and he is getting a lot of exercise and having a lot of fun.
It is probably a house the owner does not use but keeps because it has so much land and is in a good spot, it is a good investment (i.e. he did not spend more n decorating for his own tastes).
Is there a reason for this furtive secrecy that ends up with them publishing videos that look tacky and cheap? The Cambridges don't take much care with background either so maybe this is a mindset created during The Royal Foundation days (staff member responsible, put your hand up). However, we know the Cambridges are on some kind of 'royal' property and what we see of the walls, the fireplace, a print on the wall, has some connection to them being upper class/aristocracy/royalty. I think the cheap tackiness of the Sussex videos (along with everything else) is cheapening their brand almost to the extent of trashing it (people are not going to take them seriously). Did the Kardashians (tackiest of celebs) ever do 'secret' videos in what looks like a broom closet?
They really have exposed that 'dog walk' plus the 'delivering food to the vulnerable' walks as pap walks, haven't they? So tacky!
Odd talking head!
I recognise the paint technique on the walls as being very fashionable in the 1990s.
@Those That Do, re: Henrietta and Mulligan. What an astute observation. You’re absolutely correct!
Meghan is all about where she’s going — She ignores the past to the point of erasing it and the present is merely a stepping stone to her glorious future.
So, while the answer to “Is Harry embarrassed by his present situation?” should be a resounding, “Yes! And, he’s ready to run back home to the RF.” I have a feeling Meghan has him so snowed, he isn’t thinking about his situation — at least, not yet.
Meghan is furiously whispering in Harry’s ear, “Just wait until the book drops. Just wait until our project with Oprah hits! Etc. Etc. We will build the palace — oops, home — of our dreams.” And, Harry is still buying into that version of reality.
For some reason, my thoughts keep turning to William, Kate and Charles and how they are feeling about their brother’s/son’s latest escapades. I can imagine they are very worried for him — and Archie.
I was thinking that usually when there is a piece from BP, an alternative release comes from the JH&M camp.
I kept waiting to see what would be released. Sure we have the video but what about photos we haven't seen yet?
If the Tyler house is up for sale, it will be for the land only. That house, even from the outside, screams tear down, and/ or divide the land for more atrocious mock palaces. However, even the very rich are fleeing California, and other crazily taxed states like New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Connecticut. Most people are taking losses on their homes, too. It figures the HAMS are scamming their way through the place, staying at homes for a week or two to give the house what Harry used to have - royal luster, but now more like tarnish - to sell the white elephants that are tacky and vulgar. The Tyler Perry home looks like a home for unwed mothers/nursing home/elementary school with a hazard pool/alcohol and drug rehab center (although the latter places have taken over Malibu - there must be 100 former mansions that are now dry-out residency living quarters.)
The more I look back at what happened in January, the more questions I have.
H&M announce they are stepping back and post their "manifesto". Why the need for the distinction? They had already been on "break" and so who would notice if they simply worked less?
They cannot work less if they are living in America. And Megsy wanted out of the UK. She was paranoid that the rest of the BRF could see right through her, and I am sure they did. She was very uncomfortable around them.
Megsy also saw the British people were onto her and were sick of her. So she grabbed Harry's hand and went off to Canada, then LA.
They had no choice but leave with little. The BRF lawyers explained to them that they would not allowed to merch their Royal titles for millions on or use them to set up foundations. Especially no foundations when you are not even working Royals. The same lawyers explained to them that they would thwart them legally even in America. (In the UK it would be easy.)
Damp Sponges
Meghan and Harry couch surf in L.A. while Andy and Fergie are deadbeats in the Alps
BY STUART HERITAGE
Part I:
In times as uncertain as these, there is much comfort to be taken from empirical uniformities. Rivers continue to flow. Day still follows night. And just when you think he’s reached the pinnacle of human stupidity, Prince Andrew will always manage to out-stupid your wildest imagination.
Sacked from his own family and effectively living in hiding from a public that has utterly disowned him, Andrew now finds himself saddled with fresh indignities. On Friday, the Financial Times reported that after a regulatory commission found irregularities, Andrew was obliged to repay his charity, the Prince Andrew Charitable Trust, more than $380,000. That was the sum his fund had improperly paid Amanda Thirsk, a trustee of the charity and Andrew’s longtime private secretary. (Thirsk resigned after Andrew’s calamitous BBC interview about Jeffrey Epstein last November.)
And that’s just the start. Andrew is also being sued for failing to keep up payments on his luxury Swiss chalet.
In 2014, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson spent $22.5 million on a Verbier holiday home. Another $6 million was due to be paid at the end of last year. But the payment deadline was reportedly missed and now the former owners want their money. The crux of the lawsuit seems to be exactly as you’d imagine. The vendor, a former friend of the couple’s, is said to expect the outstanding balance to be readily available because Andrew and Sarah live a billionaire lifestyle and are directly related to the Queen of England. And yet the couple lost much of their income when Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein was underlined hard last year.
Andrew and Sarah have reportedly claimed that they are actually planning to sell the home, and were always going to settle their account with money made from the sale. That might be easier said than done, though. Not only has the outbreak effectively halted the global housing market, but selling property in Verbier—a coronavirus hot spot so pronounced that 80 percent of patients at one medical practice had tested positive by early April—seems like an impossible task.
At this stage, it looks like Andrew has three options left: fight the case, sell the chalet at a loss, or hope that one of Sarah Ferguson’s harebrained get-rich-quick schemes—be it her book deal, her $2,000-fountain-pen line, or the bangles she wants to sell on QVC—suddenly pays off. Given his reputation, you can only assume that none of them will.
But this is how the British royal family tends to operate, glomming on to much richer friends to give their lives a billionaire sheen.
Andrew’s news broke just as it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved into an $18 million Tuscan-style mansion owned by Tyler Perry in the gated Beverly Ridge Estates community (previous residents of which include Paris Hilton and a woman who was fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), possibly thanks to their mutual friend Oprah Winfrey. If they’re paying rent, and it isn’t clear whether they are or not, it’s estimated to set them back between $20,000 and $40,000 a month.
It’s a wonderful system while it lasts—Harry and Meghan get to brush up against the Hollywood establishment they clearly idolize, while Perry gets to bask in the glow of knowing that he’s housing royalty—but all it would take is a few missed payments and it could all come crashing down around them. If they aren’t careful, they could also find themselves at the mercy of an Andrew-style lawsuit. Or worse. If we see Meghan cringing her way through an extended cameo in Boo 3! Madea’s Halloween in Space, we’ll know something has gone drastically wrong.
I was looking at the beautiful gowns and saw this one from 2003. It doesn't seem all that long ago and yet, on another level, it seems a lifetime. Either way, it shows that they did periodic photos of the line of succession for everyone to look at (#35 if it starts at 1).

I guess I understand why HAMS have crap video backgrounds, but I do wish the Wills and Kate would do up there video backgrounds a bit. The door is so distracting, I get it, they really want privacy, whereas the Malibu Dukes want secrecy and to stir up PR. Now that Charles and Camilla and even Sophie and Annie has given us a peek into their homes with some interesting decor, I wish Wills and Kate would have something else besides the door.
Yes, now that Prince Charles and Amal are BFFs [there is now the Amal Clooney Award for Young Women in the UK, some sort of joint venture with PC], I am sure Amal has told George to keep his big mouth shut in re Smegs, plus she is a lawyer, and I am sure she does not want to be in anyway associated with Smegs while the massively interesting press court case is ongoing. I am sure both George and Amal both want gongs for something too.
Thanks for posting. This almost makes me feel sorry for Prince Andrew, or a least his family. Andrew looks Royally screwed on his Verbier, Switzerland (Covid hotspot) ski chalet investment, unless he can get a large loan (4-6 million) to pay it off. He might get foreclosed on and lose all the millions he has put into in. He claims elsewhere that he bought this chalet as an inheritance for his two daughters which is very nice. His family skied there a lot so I believe this.
If Andrew can get a loan, I can see Verbier bouncing back in a few years. Right now its reputation is in the dumpster. The DM had some Ibiza photos today and this playground for the wealthy is deserted.
He chose to say nothing on May 8, true. Unforgivable faux pas.
And media ignored his video today. Something to do with Invictus I believe.
That is what needed to be done a long time ago. Harkles wanted freedom from the media, they can't expect to get the coverage when they need how they need.
Papers had their day with private jet flight and freebie mansion but didn't report Harry's bleating about Invictus.

I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but with all of the other deductions Perry's accountants will find, it would help to offset what monies he brings in annually. Every little deduction helps.
I agree that it looks like a house from the late-80s-early 90s, especially with the walls that are sponged on with paint and the gaudy architecture and decor. It looks like a house that a Russian or Middle Eastern oligarch would love or a Dynasty TV series house. Can't you see Alexis Carrington swanning around in her peignoir sets, making grand entrances from those staircases? She can even have a cat fight in the pool!
The IRS is going to be all over The Harkles slinking out in the middle of the night moves, whether they received any money for their "philanthropic" work, and whether she gets a kickback for things such as Meghan's Mirror, the Elephant movie, etc. It doesn't pay to diss the President of the US and then decide to move to his country, especially when your financial ventures are already in question. Plus, he so admires HMTQ.
OT,
@Wild Boar,
Thanks for the history lesson. I learned something new today because of you.
@ Magatha,
Chin chin!
Impulsive Daddy! I hope he's not going to drive at speeds incompatible with my cut glass condiment set!
Have you watched Kath and Kim? It's another comedy series, from Australia, that's a hoot! The dance scenes between Kath and her husband are worth it alone! Not to mention Typhaanniii's!
How would Tyler P get a tax break from letting H&M couch surf? In the US I didn't think giving somebody something was deductible unless the somebody was a recognized charity. And I know there is such a thing as a gift tax paid by the donor when the gift exceeds certain limits and isn't a charitable gift. I'm confused.
You can gift $15,000 a year to any person without any tax implications. Older parents often use this to slowly transfer their assets to their children to avoid in inheritance taxes, but the gifting does have to be a to relative.
For the unscrupulous, it can also be a way of hiding assets.
I am not an accountant but I've been been to a few parties with real estate people (some of whole were quite full of themselves). What little I know is that if they are charged rent, then the house takes on a whole different tax complication (rent is income, different house insurance and most importantly: a legal lease to allow the landlord to collect for damage, ease of eviction and so on). They did have some good eviction stories.
Sadly DM decided to give him coverage. I suspect this is only because he looks absolutely dreadful. People caught it immediately and say he looks like a hostage.
Right, and Tyler doesn't need what income this house would bring in through rent (no rent is a gift). He needs deductions or a gifting plan to avoid more taxes that he would have to pay if he rented it to The Harkles.
If they move on to another squatter's palace, he can simply stop gifting the rent to them.
This does present a problem in case of fire or other damages to the house. I wonder if a contract can be written up to cover those things, but is not a lease agreement? Who would be the primary insurer of the house, since the rent is gifted, and not the house? It looks like it would be Tyler to me, to make sure that he is covered. Also, under this arrangement, the Harkles would not use renter's insurance, but would insure their private property.
Laywers and accountants here, please chime in.
