Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event? Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th? Oscar's - March 10th? In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US. The IRS just never goes away. Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on). There's always another one. Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California. That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales. Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere. But. The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

I was not surprised that Archie was fair. Meg’s complexion is very light and Harry practically glows in the dark. Skin tone aside, Meg did have more pronounced African features prior to the plastic surgeries. I am most perplexed by the baby’s hair. Despite repeated attempts to convince us that this child has “tufts of red hair” on his head, I see a fine blond peach fuzz. If you recall Harry’s hair texture until he hit puberty, it used to be pretty fine and straight and more of a copper penny color. This is how he looked at nearly 13 walking behind Diana‘s cortège. It seems like only a year or two later H. appeared seeming to have sprouted a head of wiry, curly darker red hair. The change was so sudden, and not just that his hair darkened as many kids do as they age, but it had an entirely different texture. Mini biracial children have light hair, But with two parents possessing nappy textured hair, I would expect to see courser curlier hair on Archie. I suppose there’s still time for that to grow in. Megs natural hair is extremely bushy and curly, and I would consider that a very dominant gene. The baby appears to have Meg’s brown eyes and the strabismus, which can be hereditary. If they tried to pick a baby out to spec, it would have been impossible, not to mention undesirable from M’s view to order a stand-in baby with a turned in eye. Possible, but not in the ballpark of probability. There is no hint at all of even 18% African features on Archie, which is rather unusual.

Please don’t delete the post. I find it utterly believable. MM was born in 1981, not 1941. I can't believe mixed-race couples were rare in CA in the 1980s. I'm from the southern US and they were not rare here (although frankly, the US South is not as uniformly backward compared to the rest of the country as detractors often claim. George Floyd was born here but he didn't die here.) And as a child MM's African-American heritage was clearly evident before her surgeries and hair changes.

Note the quote seems to be about incidents that occurred when Doria and Thomas lived together. That ended when MM was 2. So IF those nanny incidents happened, M would not remember unless somebody (Doria?) told her. She would also not remember teenage Samantha referring to Doria as the maid when they all lived together. (No idea if SM did that. Teenagers have called their fathers' new wives far worse...and done worse than name call. Diana pushed her stepmother down a flight of stairs and Diana was 28 years old at the time!)

What goes for one racial group doesn't necessarily go for another group. In European populations, it seems simple, explicable as a single pair of genes being in control, inherited in a straightforward Mendelian way.
That is, if both parents have curly hair, and each carries a recessive gene for straight hair, the probability is that a child is three times more likely to have curly hair than straight. On that basis, assuming both M & H have the `European' type, for want of a better term, A was more likely than not to have curly hair.
This may, however, is subject to qualification::

Skin colour is controlled by a large number of genes, it all depends on the overall number of genes for melanin production that are inherited from the parents.
White parents, with unknown black ancestry, can produce an African-looking child, with or without dark skin. I’ve shown a group photo from a family wedding (100+ people) to friends and asked them to find the person `who looks African’. Without fail, they’ve picked out my cousin who was convinced she’d been swapped at birth and brought up in the `wrong’ family.
Today, she would be taken as mixed-race, for all that her skin was as pink as mine.
Conversely, black parents can have a white child (I don’t mean albino).
Such `anomalies’ caused families real difficulties in apartheid S.Africa, when children could be classified as racially different form their parents; I’m sure it contributed to my cousin’s psychological problems in Surrey, although I doubt if anyone saw the real cause of her anguish. I’ve only realised it since her death last year.
To summarise, I’ve no idea who `Archie’s’ parents are. On the slender evidence we have, he might be the H$M’s biological child – or someone else’s. There’s nothing conclusive about the child we’ve been shown. The test may come as he grows up, if we are still shown him.
He could be their child, or her child with A,N.Other, born earlier than stated of a surrogate. Or he might be a hired child, the nearest match to what they could get – and Megsy overlooked the question of size. Or there may be a genuine Archie elsewhere, or no genuine M-W child at all.

1. If tabloids/paparazzi were filming with drones, where are the photos? The only we have seen was of Harry playing with a dog by the pool (the narrative that emerged a while later that Meghan, Archie and Harry were by the pool is false IMO, and is intended to give a sense of family and to imply that Meghan and Archie are in danger).

If drones operated by some mysterious person or group that is trying to get information in order to do harm to one or all of the Harkles (kidnap seems the most likely but murder by a looney may also be on the list), then it would not be made public. Hair sometimes changes at puberty—texture from fine to course and straight to wavy or curly. My kids’ hair became wavy and no longer fine (but has lots of body). Also, ditto for their friends. My hair was always wavy. It just varies so much. I’m beginning to think simple Mendelian isn’t so simple. (Don’t even get me started on eye color; it can be extremely complicated.)
I would expect Archie’s Hair to change at puberty as apparently Harry’s did. Archie has so little hair, I think we’ll have to wait awhile before the color is obvious.
Whatever rubbish Markle will be speaking at Oprah's show I bet the only question never asked will be "Why did you lighten your skin, straightened your hair and done your nose".
And yet this is the question any person with a brain is asking now when Markle suddenly became proud and talkative about her heritage.
You are either proud of your heritage or you are not. It doesn't work both ways. She may try to bleat about racism in Hollywood, but I always think of Whoopi Goldberg, who is very far from a celluloid beauty and yet she is a great actress. She was superb in the "Ghost" and "Sister act".

Previously, I mentioned extremists - just so you know who I mean, banners have been displayed with Socialist Workers Party slogans & logo - a clenched fist, in red or black. They are closest to, or actually are, Trotskyists, I believe, not wanting gradual democratic change but violent revolution.
From 1968-70 (covering the time of the student uprising in Paris), I had to try and get a class of 14-16 year-olds through O-level biology. Almost all, apart from a few who wanted to pass the exam and those who were terminally lazy, were communists of all persuasions, the progeny of revolutionary parents. I had marxists, leninists, trotskyists and Maoists, plus anarchists, all determined to start the revolution in my lab, three times a week.
The only quiet lesson I remember was the day after the Grosvenor Square Riot, an anti-Vietnam-war demonstration outside the old American Embassy, Sun. 17th March 1968. The troublemakers were either absent, licking their wounds, or too exhausted to disrupt the lesson for those who wanted to learn. Vanessa Redgrave, stalwart of the SWP, was prominent in Grosvenor Sq. that day.
I think most of them scraped through the exam - they were bright, after all. The lad who most wanted to be a doctor did very well, went on to medical school, qualified as a psychiatrist and ended up practising in California. He must be near retirement now, I'd love to know what he makes of MM!

Yes, Andrew was required to step down clouded in scandal and unanswered questions. However, there needs to be some kind of fair and rational standards applied. Perhaps that is what the Queen is trying to do. His needs are less because he has now been forced into retirement as a working royal (although perhaps like the Duchess of Kent he will continue private charity work). He should also be entitled to less as he retired at a very early age for a royal (other royals have stepped back for a while but I think Prince Phillip was the first to retire). However, it seems a bit mean and spiteful to condemn him and deny him any kind of retirement benefits. The same people who are making those demands would protest strongly if the same standards and principles were applied to them (and there is always someone less well off than you).
Meghan was a 'working royal' for an instant (she arrived with much fuss, made some appearances, acquired some patronages, spent a lot of money, went on maternity leave after just over a year of all of the former, and then left). She is not entitled to taxpayer-funded anything, and has already been given more than her share of a one-off payout (security was extended for about 6 months as was a whole lot of other perks for which the taxpayer paid).
For Harry, retiring from being a working royal (albeit being forced to as his part-time but full pay proposal was rejected, even though he offered to forego his share of the Sovereign Grant once he had achieved financial independence, whenever that wold be and however that would be determined) happened at a very young age of mid-30s. It is unreasonable for him to have expected to have full-on taxpayer funded security for him and Meghan and Archie and shows just how out of touch he is with the real world.
If Harry's position alone (sixth in line of succession), and that of Archie (seventh in line of succession) and that of Meghan (as wife and mother for royals in the line of succession) warrants that they should have full-time fully taxpayer-funded security, then there are a lot of other royals that are going to join the queue. Meghan's claim that they have special status as international whatever is nonsense and that was summarily dismissed. That Harry and his family are vulnerable because he served in Afghanistan is rather strange. Prince Andrew also served in a war and I am sure we can dig up the names of other royals and non-royals who might be a target for terrorists because they are royal or high profile people (I immediately think of war correspondents). If there isn't a clear and fair policy, then it is time to create one.

The crowd attacked police and their horses using motorbikes, a woman police officer ended in the hospital in serious condition. Horse was seriously wounded too. All this without any provocation from police or law abiding citizens.
I don't care what color the person is, I care how the person behaves. After watching this anarchy in London and other cities I do not want to do anything with this "movement". During this outbreak it takes just one person with the virus for it to spread like a wildfire again in the crowds. And it will. You watch.

I agree that MM is less than 50% black and that Doria is not 100% black. I don't really have any explanation for what I suspect other than Archie does not appear to have any African American ancestry at all - indeed he seems to be especially pale and what little hair he has is very fine.
@Unknown: For the sake of a starting point, let’s say that Doria is between 70 to 75% African ancestry. That would put Meghan at 35-37.5% African ancestry at the most. Archie would be somewhere in the range of 17.5 to 18.75% African ancestry. It could be more. It could be less. These are just ballpark percentages.
Just read the DM article that she AND Harry are prepping their thoughts on BLM. Looks like it's going to happen!
Why does their media friend always paint them as extremely out of touch? It makes them come off as lunatics with a false air of importance. They should change the way he releases things on their behalf.
In addition, Archie still has baby hair which, often can change in the next years or so. Even Harry's change in hair texture could have changed due to hormones at puberty as often happens. The whole issue is complicated and no should begin to draw conclusions based ion arm chair science.
I have seen very white looking children from African American parents and yes the hair was not kinky. Even blue-eyed, hazel-eyed blond babies with an African American parent. Genetics is a beautiful thing not something to be used to castigate a parent with or make them the subject of suspicion. I find Archie's provenance more of a question because Meghan did not look genuinely pregnent at times.
To the poster wondering about interracial couple existing in the 1980's, yes they were an everyday occurrence where I lived in So. California then.
To put things in prospective Andrews's personal net worth is about £40 million. He is firmly within the royal network of fortified palaces, armed vehicles, private train coaches, helicopters, trusted servants and mansions. The risk of his abduction or assassination is not high in this cocoon.
Tax funded protection due to Phillip is more honorary than practical. He rarely goes outside of his house and (if I am to believe what I read) has limited mobility. His public appearances now are practically non existent. I can live with a bill for his protection.
Andrew, on other hand, is an active individual who has no intention of sitting quietly looking at the window. He moves around, travels, meets people. All this continues on private basis. The bill for his security is pretty significant. His armed guard costs what? £ 300 000 a year? I suspect the bill is hire because I have difficulty believing he has just one person with him 24/7.
If the Queen is concerned for his safety she can pay for favorite son out of her substantial private wealth. Estimated Queen's worth is well over £500 000 000. She can pay for Harry too.
Sorry for the rant but I am quickly losing respect for the institution and for the Queen. There are times when being a figurehead saying very little while sparkling diamonds around is not enough.

If you watch the footage of her from the International Women's discussion in 2019, she is actually not very articulate compared to the other women there. Those women have accomplished much, much more than MM and could speak concretely about their work and ideas. MM kept repeating "education" and it was apparent that she was ill equipped beyond making this suggestion.

I bet that was one heck of a collision and fall. The Sun says she's got broken ribs & a collapsed lung. Had the horse trampled a protester, the police would be blamed.
Could have been serious head injuries - even with a hard hat. A friend fell from her horse and was out cold for quite a time, despite a helmet. She hit the back of her head and it disrupted her sight - presumably because that's the region where vision is processed, IIRC.

Yes. Floyd's murder is the murder that must be investigated. There may be criminal structure responsible for it. Looks like the guy who killed him had been determined to kill. May be he wanted to silence Floyd because of the fake bill. If indeed there is a criminal operation there, Floyd speaking about the origins of the bill could have seriously endangered it. And may be there is a chain of corrupt police behind the operation shielding it too.
That is why investigation is crucial.
Violence undermines legitimate demands for justice. People of all colors who suffered as result had nothing to do with the murder of Floyd. They are victims too. Peaceful protesters must distance themselves from any violence, otherwise the whole case is tainted irreversibly.
On my father's side, I am pure European ancestry.
On my mother's side, an African ancestor was revealed by DNA testing. Mt DNA gets passed along the female line so there must have been a female in every generation passing it on. (When I say African Ancestry I mean one step away from Eve ... it really is 'ancient' Mt DNA that I have.)

When we got the results of the DNA test, everyone in the family looked at me and said 'that explains your hair' then took out the family photos and said 'that explains ...'.
Someone here posted how in South Africa, a couple classified as white (and looking very European) with white parents and other relatives would suddenly have a child who looked distinctly of mixed race. You never know when a trait is going to pop up and what is it going to be. However, Meghan is very fair and it is unusual for someone with her parents to be so fair.
Meghan lived with both parents until she was about 2, then with her mother until she was about 11. There are lots of photos of her with her mother's family (all black). I find it odd that she did not acquire a black identity in those formative years. She only pretends to be black when it suits her (and we can all bring up a story about racism or sexism). It's definitely possible for H&M's genetic child to be completely white passing. In fact, H&M's genetic child technically is white with black admixture. DNA is weird. I had a test done by one of the big American companies. It showed me to be 67% England/Wales, 12% Italian and the rest was all other European. I thought this was weird because my maternal grandfather was full blooded Italian. I had my mom do a test. 53% Italian. It matched her to me as my mother. However, I do not have 25%ish Italian DNA. I also had my brother test. 23% Italian DNA and also matched him to our mother. The best I can understand from what I read is that DNA can “express” like traits, i.e dominant/recessive. My understanding may be completely inadequate. LOL! That means my father’s DNA stampeded my mother’s.
I fully believe there is something fishy about Archie’s birth. However, I don’t think we can assume he would necessarily exhibit African traits. I think he looks enough like the MM and Harry that he’s theirs. I just don’t think she carried him.

Today’s discussion has run the gamut. All the talk about genetics got me thinking about what a miracle each life is. How millions of people are born and each and everyone is unique. How is that possible? Incredible!
Next we talk about H&M and other celebrities, which gets me to thinking about the way in which our society often elevates people for superficial reasons, rather than goodness and worth. Why is that possible? Infuriating!
Finally, the discussion turns to heartbreaking tragedies. Murders. How is it possible that such evil exists? Inexplicable? Intolerable.
I thank you all for your thought provoking comments. They’ve led me to ponder deep subjects today. The world in 2020 certainly seems upside down! I appreciate this blog and the opportunity that it provides me to air my thoughts.
I don’t understand CatEyes’ comments at all! I know some “attackers””(?) are cited, but I find it tiresome to scroll past what may have been otherwise interesting.

I have been thinking they were forced out of the RF too.
The story and behavior doesn’t make sense the other way around, as if they voluntarily left and then their lack of planning screwed them over. Who quits a situation like that without a huge plan in place?
I'm leaning that way, too, that they were forced out in some way.
I think the break in November December was them being told take some time off figure out what you want, in or out. Or maybe they crossed a line and were told to take some time off and think about if they wanted to be royals or not.
Or maybe they were told they were done being royals, take some time as a grace period to sort yourselves out before we announce that you're out.
And then they had to go and get cute with the manifesto, trying to force the Queen's hand. Like that was going to work.
My theory is that after the Africa interview in September, HMTQ or reps had strong words with the two rogue Royals.
Being unable to correct themselves, nor issue a public apology as they are Narc, while continuing to play victim Megs then called up Katherine McPhee for an unassociated place to stay and told the RF they were taking a private holiday as it would 'be best' for a cooling-off period between parties, plus, No Work! Yay!
The RF had probably asked them to take time away, as they were a state on that interview, anyway.
The RF was obviously making plans to demote them, and Megs thought she one-upped the Queen with her 'Royal Branding Genius' LOL. Why else release such desperation?
Clearly, the RF wasn't going to play ball and iterated they were serious, no more games. In or Out, commit or leave.
This is why you see Harry taking it so hard in that speech sans-megs. He's never been serious in his life. He thought he had a lot of negotiations and time to get to the 'leave' outcome. It happened suddenly because of his stupid wife and the RF's smarts. Harry is not a confrontational person, so it hit him like a ton of bricks.
If you all notice, Meghan is not confrontational either. She cannot handle anyone, not even the Queen disagreeing with her. This is why she 'talks through friends'. So she can lie, deny, throw under the bus, fake her way, manipulate and deceive, and most importantly AVOID criticism of her crazy while STILL till her DYING breath be the next.....well....what? Oprah/Bezos/Gwyenth ...
The sad part is, it's so obvious she absolutely hates herself. I don't know what happened to her as a child, but she clearly hates herself and is incredibly uncomfortable in her life. For that, I hope she gets help. No one deserves to live with torment. But she also, cannot torment others, as she does.

If so why the one year grace period? Is that just for H? I would think this constant drip drip drip from MM whilst still under the one year grace period is quite damaging to the RF. MM is attacking everyone, especially the Cambridges, and I doubt it will stop.
@Unknown Thanks for reminding me about Book Depository. I completely forgot about it because I stopped buying physical books. Book Depository was my go-to for UK editions of Agatha Christie. In general, I prefer U.K. editions to U.S. editions.
re: DNA testing
@Unknown @Rut In no way am I an expert but when I considered taking them myself, I passed. The reason being identical twins end up with different results when they have identical DNA. The ethnicity percentages they derive are based on the pool-sets of collected DNA they have. The results they give are saying that your DNA matches a percentage of people living in specific locations. I haven't looked into it recently, so my info could be wrong but here's a good article on the subject;

Your guess is as good as mine. I have a guess.
1) The RF knows Harry is broke. They couldn't just dump him outside of Buckingham Palace and call it a day.
As another reader stated, in aristocratic families the wealth is put into trusts, and the beneficiaries only live off of the interest.
Which means a 20MM net worth placed in a trust, Harry would see ONLY about 400k per year in income (a generous 2% withdrawal rate). His personal income from his trust funds must float around that number. It's then past to Archie when he comes of age.
2) Meghan stated the public purse only contributed about 5% of their annual costs as a family. If I remember correctly, that amount is 250k, which puts their yearly outgoings at around 5MM. Charles contributed 4.75MM per year from the Duchy (his private funds) to support them while they were working Royals. - This is where her wardrobe came from.
At the time of the manifesto, the RF realized the duo were in financial freefall. They stepped in to save face for the entire RF and not look like they kicked them to the curb.

I also don't think he cares. I think he's fine and will eventually go back to his granny. I know of a few women who pushed men into marriage when their own source of income was drying up, and that's what happened here. It's always been about the money for Megs.

I agree she will divorce him not the other way around. MM & H are living off Charles' funding and still squatting here, there and everywhere. They really have squandered any goodwill they might have had. Hollywood is not going to be a moneyspinner even if projects start post Covid.
I would like to think that they will divorce soon but within the next year or two? I'm not sure. But then who knows with MM & H? I wonder if they are really living together in that TP house now. I always think whatever MM is spouting the opposite to be true.
