The new September issue of Vogue UK - without Meghan

Could it have been only a year ago that Meghan guest-edited the vaunted September issue of Vogue UK?

Yup - it was the September 2019 issue of Vogue, Meg's "Forces for Change" issue. She was so pleased with the issue that she handed out notebooks embossed with the Forces for Change message, accompanied by handwritten notes in her trademark dreadful calligraphy.

Fast forward twelve months - past a messy departure from the UK and a festival of lawsuits against the media.

Today the September 2020 issue of Vogue UK hit the stands. It focuses on Black activism, with a fold-out cover featuring 18 faces of influential Black celebrities.

Meghan, apparently, is not among them.

Ed Enninful used to love Meg

Has Meg fallen out with Vogue UK editor Edward Enninful? This time last year, Enninful was calling his co-operation with the Duchess "a special time in his editorship."

In a video clip that accompanied the 2019 issue, Ghana-born Enninful emotes, "I remember walking into Kensington Palace and I was so excited. And I was like, 'Lovely to meet you, duchess." And you were like "Call me Meghan."

Enninful doesn't seem so star-struck any more. In fact, he was recently quoted busting up Meghan's favorite narrative by saying that he doesn't feel that criticism of her was due to racism

"She did get a very unfair treatment, I thought," Enninful told SkyNews last week. "It was harsh, it was harsh. But I wouldn't just blame it on racism."

That's rather unhelpful, at least from Meg's point of view, because the idea that Britain rejected her solely because she is (a little bit) Black flavors all of Meghan's multiple lawsuits and much of her publicity.

Portraying herself as a victim of racism is also Meg's best hope for US-based celebrity in a time when racial tensions have proven very profitable for the media.

Not really an activist

Anyway, Meg's apparent absence from the new September Vogue does make sense, because she isn't really a Black activist.

Arguably, she's not an activist at all, just a follower of the cause of the week. (Speaking of which, there have still been no arrests in the Althea Bernstein case, and apparently no new information over the past three weeks either.)

But it raises a bigger question - now that Enninful appears to have moved on, precisely who is still in Meghan's corner?

Bad news for celebrities who back Meghan

A year ago, Meg still had the support of celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Jessica Mulroney, both of whom have had their own falls from grace since then.

Serena Williams, who is currently preparing for the US Open tournament beginning August 24, wasn't pleased with Meg's stoned-looking appearance at the 2019 Open, which included an incident in which Meg apparently showed her panties to Serena's husband.

It's a good bet that Meg won't be welcome in Serena's box at this year's open.

Even Oprah, who has been in the news recently talking about racism, doesn't seem to be in Meghan's corner any more. The last statement Oprah made about the Sussexes - defending their decision to leave the Royal Family - was in January.

Are there any powerful people still backing the Duchess of Sussex?

@ Aquagirl 100% I agree JCMH is probably being used here and being readied for the final discard, unfortunately. "Not his style" sounds completely ungrateful and we are to believe it's him, not her. Right.

FF books sources - pretty obvious it’s MM as the primary source and JCMH as. an afterthought with 100 other staff/ straff clerks/ MM-friends//Scooby thrown in for timeline purposes as ‘authentication’.

But the main prose seems directly from MM’s curly-cue penmenship.

Anyone remember the rumored “diary” MM was keeping that she accidently left out one day for staff to see? maybe it was the Nite Nanny looking for reading material LOL.
but seriously, the way Soocby has parsed his words on sourcing and explained that their were no ‘interviews’, and wouldn’t directly comment on the ‘off the record’ conversations? makes me think MM gave him her ‘diary’, perhaps other papers/romance novella, or even email excerpts of the diary and that was his source, so not an interview per say, but material written by her.

So if she handed over her diary/ papers, and he used them as the source, a- wouldnt that be copyright infringement ( unless she authorized it which the Harkles deny or at least plagarism?). b- as a writer, wouldn’t he have to footnote the source?

MM always has these grandiose plans, but they always fall apart due to her ineptness. so as stupid as it is, i can absolutely see her doing the above.

and if anything was done via email/digitally, nothing stays private in email due to hackers so that truth would come out as well eventually.

We’ve had several stories about Harry and Meghan looking at homes in the greater LA area, which I assume were PR to make them look rich and important and a hint to Charles to buy it for them. This was before we learned they were in Tyler Perry’s house. I’m not sure if this story is true, but if it is, it is a step down (smaller house, smaller price, no privacy, public roads).

Only when they “own” a house (that Charles bought for them) will Meghan divorce him. Without a house, they have no assets for her to claim in the divorce. She would leave with very little to show for her stint in the royal family. She needs a house that she can claim in the divorce, and then quickly sell for the cash. I bet she will make Charles pay all her lawyer fees too, since in her mind all that horrible stuff happened to her as a result of her joining the royal family. She will probably come out of this better than Sarah, but worse than Diana.
Have the Dubious Duo had a go at Ben & Jerry's?

It is reported that B&Js have signalled their virtue by criticising Priti Patel, Home Secretary , a WoC but not the `right kind of WoC' presumably, over her approach to the illegal Channel crossings from France to Dover.

They assert that `the migrants `have no choice' That is not true.

They can and should apply for asylum in France, under the terms of the Dublin Regulation at

She bought a place on Middle Road. That is completely nuts. Beyond stupid.

I used to live just around the corner. For someone who says they wants privacy and security the Lower Village is a terrible location. People who want privacy and security live above East Valley Road not down on the flats. Which is very built up. Or else over in Hope Ranch. Or else in Birhnam Woods. Very easy to secure property in those areas. Which is where all the "famous" people generally live.

The neighbors on Middle are just going to love the Harkles. Well now Oprah will no longer be the most hated person in Montecito. And thats just for starters. The Harkles will discover the hard way that you cannot build so much as a paddling pool in Montecito unless everyone signs-off on it. Just ask CalTrans how picking a fight with the locals works out.

And if she thinks she can swan into Pierre Lafonds and have everyone swoon over her she is in for a very rude shock. The locals pride themselves on totally ignoring celebrities etc and when outsiders i.e LA People wander around do their "LA Thing" the locals just snigger and tell very unflattering stories about the idiots who try it. To be "LA" is just about the worst possible putdown. And Meghan is about as fake phony LA as they come.

They should have to stuck to somewhere like Pacific Palisades. Just about in their price range. Although they are more Bell Air nasty rich trash by inclination they just dont have that kind of money, do they.

Coming out of lurking to say the house in Montecito looks like your typical American AirBnB for wannabe well heeled types. The exterior is very nice, the interior looks like something from Boogie Nights...

I can see how JH would feel drawn to it since it has that hybrid Cali/Old English look. I don't think she would feel it's grand enough but since everything in her rattled narc brain is a project at least she can shut everyone up from saying they are "squatting"

In any event, it's perfect to hang out in for awhile until she divorces JH (which we knew long ago is why she took Archie to Cali in the first place) and she bags another wealthy man. One with more prospects than a member of the BRF!

Someone mentioned Tom Cruise. That would be a match. The CHURCH gets a Duchess with the blackmail money and secrets from the RF, she gets a movie star top echelon of a very evil, powerful "Church". Maybe Dan Brown can write the screenplay.

What more could Malignant Meg want?

true about the divorce and her getting half, especially in california.

if Charles had any sense at all, he’d buy the house for himself or a “company” of his so as not to get too involved in US/CA tax issues, and not put the house in the Harkles name.
much like Frogmore, it was a lovely ‘cottage’ the Queen allowed them to live a, but it’s still in the Crown’s name.

as soon as something goes the the harkles name, she basically gets half in the divorce. it’s hard to believe that JCMH on a lease is so stupid.

Just a comment about FF and Megs' cooperation. At some point (after Diana and Charles divorced or after Diana died), IIRC, it was revealed that for Andrew Morton's "Diana, Her True Story", Diana actually recorded on cassette tapes her thoughts and answered specific questions provided by AM. Those tapes were passed on to AM either directly or through an intermediary. I believe this is exactly what Megs did. She basically wrote this book and passed e-gallies to OS and Durand via an attorney or third party, MA? Megs' writing style is obvious as it is so infantile in its romanticism and the abundance adjectives and false praise.

Regards to the new house in Montecito. We have absolutely no proof or evidence that Prince Charles has purchased the house, or whether it’s been purchased at all or if it’s even true the Duo are even living there. Clarence House hasn’t issued a statement and it’s unlikely they will.

It’s all very subjective and all anyone has is circumstantial evidence (regarding the purchase etc). It could be just another PR driven story by the Duo to put Charles in a bad light and cause ill feeling within the royal family etc.

Charles paid for it. Meghan clearly only cares about Charles in all of this. 2nd dad, blah blah, she's a gold digger after all. She probably could care less about Harry, let's be honest. Harry has no money. Charles overspent on the wedding. She was smart. She knew he'd pay for them in the US too, regardless if his kid worked or not.

It's amazing they, as grown adults, are able to get a parent to provide a luxurious home and expenses. Disgusting if it came from the Duchy. Charles is going to catch a lot of flack for this move.

I've been around some very very rich people. Not a single one pays their kids and kids families way. Their kids also do not have mental issues, and have adequate self-esteem.

New Idea article 10th August 2020
Meghan's fury over secret Diana tapes 'She feels ripped off!'
It’s no secret that the Duchess of Sussex was a long-time fan of the late Princess Diana before marrying her youngest son, Prince Harry – and she has recently spent hours poring over old media reports about the mother-in-law she will never get to meet. However, New Idea is told Meghan has uncovered a 2013 report in US magazine The Globe that reveals Diana, who had a premonition of her own death, made an audio tape for Prince William’s future wife.In the recording, Diana advises her eldest on how to avoid the same marriage mistakes she herself made, and also states that William’s future bride is likely to be “beautiful, smart and independent”.She says: “I know I’d adore you and we’d be fast friends. You’d have to be someone truly special. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t be my William’s wife.”It’s believed Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has heard the tape. Now, sources say that Meghan is demanding to hear it too.“(Meghan) feels ripped off that Diana didn’t do the same for Harry – she’d have loved a message from beyond the grave and says that, as Diana’s other daughter-in-law, she deserves to hear the message as well,” says a source.“Of course, she doesn’t seem to understand that the whole point of the tape was to advise and support William’s choice of the future queen – which Meghan is not. Kate and William hold those tapes close and won’t let anyone have them.”

Megain must be fit to be tied; eaten up with jealousy at this newly discovered information. She must never be allowed anywhere near that tape she would probably destroy it

More local info about probable locations. Middle Road makes no sense but both Cold Springs and Park Lane are far better for security, privacy, etc. Both are above East Valley Rd.

Now where this gets interesting is that both locations were very very lucky not to get burned out during the Thomas Fire in 2017. If it had not been for the truly exceptional work done by the Santa Barbara County Fire Chief and the fire crews that fire should have burned at least down to East Valley Rd. Its the only time I know of where a full blown wildfire front several miles wide was beaten down and contained despite 60 mph plus wind and it being nighttime. When people went to bed that night they were expecting a rerun of the Painted Cave Fire in 1991 which almost burned all the way to the ocean, jumping the freeway. Instead, only a few houses were lost. Although one of them was the house of the best friend of one of my oldest friends.

A few months later the burn area above Montecito has a once in 30 year cloudburst that dumped inches of rain in a less than an hour causing floods that killed 23 people. The house on Cold Springs is on the crest of hill above one of the creeks that flooded and washed houses away. No flood risk but landslip risk.

Both houses are in very high risk wildfire zones and neither houses seemed to have much defensible space around them for wildfires. So high risk properties. When a wildfire rolls though the neighborhood the fire crews put most effort into saving properties with defensible spaces. All but two of the properties lost in 2017 did not have defensible space around them. The last two guys were just very unlucky.

So the property tax for the new house will be $80K plus per year and the property insurance cost will probably be even more. Maybe $40K just for wildfire insurance alone.

"Only when they “own” a house (that Charles bought for them) will Meghan divorce him. Without a house, they have no assets for her to claim in the divorce."

If the money was from Charles as a gift to his son, then it is Harry's separate property and Meghan cannot claim 1/2 as community property in a divorce.

I doubt there would be a mortgage on the property because they do not have a visible means of income unless they are relying on a regular infusion of cash from PC that can be established or maybe Harry getting payouts from a trust fund. There is always a slim chance the former owners would allow a private mortgage and thus the terms could be easily met (I had a mortgage whereupon the private lender did not even met me personally to quality me). If the home was jointly bought and Meghan contributed financially then her portion of investment would be recognized in the event of a divorce and typically she would get repaid proportionately .

If Charles bought the house outright with his name on the title, then again Meghan cannot claim it as community property in the event of a divorce.

I have a hard time believing they would pick a house so close to Hwy 101 as the sound of cars would be irritating IMO. In addition it is so close to many homes and lacks privacy and to me, seems quite small for a Prince and his Demanding Duchess who thought she should live in Windsor Castle no less. Looking at the extensive landscaping with many shrubs being cut into rounded shapes requiring constant upkeep, they will be ensuring gardeners are kept busy. I echo the sentiments of other posters regarding the interior design; Megs will most likely redecorate to capture the look of SoHo house, thus ensuring more money will go down the drain (the miniature elephant head on the wall is laughable and probably enraged Harry). At least the grounds offers a play space for Archie and in a corner it looked like there was a sandpit for kids to play at; however the pool does not look to have a fence around it and some jurisdictions require it so I find that a safety hazard for the little one.

All in all it just seems like a terrible pick for the gruesome duo and I wonder how long they will be satisfied with it. Yes, there is a stigma attached if you are from LA as I experienced that when moving to central Calif.; I soon learned not to mention that fact. It seems people thought LA people were somehow ruining their communities. I don;t want to offend any Californians but they are not as laid back as it seems and not very friendly (of course I'm not used to that as I came from Texas *and now returned thank goodness). But the people don't want to be bothered and boy the residents definitely won't like an influx of paparazzies hanging around (it would seem a cramped street to have media folks staged on the road there) not to mention if drones are launched to catch a glimpse of the inhabitants.

I find it funny if the Harkles were kicked out of Tyler Perry's home. Maybe Mr. Perry didn't like the ugly privacy screens, neighbors complaining and notoriety that erupted over the gruesome duo's stay there since everything Meghan touches turns to sh*t (like Harry did).

We are all armchair shrinks where the Duchess of Deceit is concerned, but Meg does seem to me that Meg meets the indicators for NPD. HG Tudor, of the Narcsite has written a 13-part series on her, gleefully deconstructing her behavior since before the wedding. He claims to be a Narcissist himself, presumably Top-Grade level, as he demonstrates an exhaustively thorough self-awareness of his condition. Or, alternatively, he could also be a clinically-trained mental health therapist who has memorized the diagnostic manual of mental disorders and has a flair and enjoyment of creative writing. He claims this website is a form of court-ordered 'therapy', but he's also turned it into a really nice little earner. Whether or not he is truly a Narc--I think of them like I do the magician fraternity--not keen to spill all their insider secrets to the uninitiated--he offers very specific insights into Markle and how she's using (up) her 'fuel supply' . . primarily, Harry, who is looking really used-up these days.

NPD is a sociopathic disorder by default, as I understand it. Any person unable to genuinely feel empathy for other living creatures besides the self qualifies. I think we can all agree that MM feels her *own* pain, injustice and suffering very acutely. It's all other people or animals she doesn't give a toss about. Sociopaths are forced to 'ape' human emotions which they do not genuinely experience, which are normally the positive ones--happiness (especially for others); compassion, concern, etc. With rage, envy and spite they are well familiar. I call it 'passing for human'. Such individuals can be superficially charming and engaging at first, when they want something from a person. Apparently MM is able to do this, though we only have anecdotal evidence to support this. I have yet to witness any filmed interaction or photo in which I found Meg 'charming'.

Hikari said…
Thanks to HG Tudor, I now understand that there are differing degrees/stages of Narcissism. I figured it was more a 'You are or you aren't' proposition. Apparently there are levels. What always amazed (and continues to) me about Meg is her spectacular *ineptitude* at the details of her various schemes and cons. She schemed and plotted for *years* to snag Harry, going so far as to hire PR firms to stage fauxmanitarian fashion shoots of her enacting various poses from the late Diana's 'charitable' outings, in nearly identical outfits. As a Royal bride she continued to channel Diana though fashion . .there are dozens of examples of this. Such a stealthy nefarious plan requires commitment, time and attention to detail. She pulled that off, too. So why, after getting her heart's desire . .a berth as a Royal, against all odds and any modicum of better judgement from anyone concerned, did she allow it to go t!ts-up in a matter of weeks? Even months before the wedding there was already tension among the Cambridges and Palace staff over her 'demanding & difficult' ways.

Meg is a great 'big picture' thinker, but she's got no follow through. She also contradicts herself constantly because I do not believe she's got the intelligence or focus to keep all her lies straight even in her own mind. She's told so many whoppers, to so many different people and publications, it would take a Field Marshall mind on the calibre of a General Patton to keep the machinery of her falsehoods oiled and running.

I personally think Megsie is also dealing with AD/HD, possibly substance-originated rather than biological, but I'm not ruling out an organic cause as well; also bipolar disorder based on her apparent spurts of manic behavior/appearance, alternating with periods in which she appears to be unbathed, high and slovenly in her grooming. 'Friends' from her early actress days relate how she'd spend days in bed with wine bottles after an unsuccessful audition. Her narcissism seems to be of the more fragile, passive-aggressive variety than the Teflon self-confidence I would associate with this condition. The overweening ego and arrogance are covers for a yawning inner insecurity.

HG Tudor pegs MM thusly:

The “A Very Royal Narcissist” Series is an extremely useful high profile example of the behaviours of a Mid Range Narcissist who has ensnared an empathic victim as the Intimate Partner Primary Source. It also demonstrates the interaction with other individuals in the narcissists fuel matrix. The subject has been determined to be a narcissist based on extensive information over a prolonged period of time

The subject is a Mid Range Narcissist, this means she does not know what she is, does not see anything wrong with what she does, operates purely by instinct and will not change (see Is it Planning? to understand more and search “Mid Range” in the search bar above to increase your understanding.et al the indicators for NPD.

I agree that if they bought a house, it’s probably one of fhe 8mil ones. I believe HAMS said they wanted a view of the ocean. I do really like the first one mentioned for 6 mil, but it seems very impractical for security and protection officers. The other two make much more sense.

Meghan Markle made sure her father was told when he became a grandfather, but didn’t want to hear what he thought, a new book has revealed.

According to Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the making of a modern royal family, Meghan asked her mother, Doria Ragland, to send a text message to Thomas Markle to let him know Archie had been born.

But while she wanted to make sure he heard the news from her, and not the press, the book says “she didn’t want to know whether her father replied to her mother’s text

I read the book. There are no security risks in my opinion of what was said. For instance, the terrorism training didn’t go into detail other than she learned how to drive, evade and make a connection with a kidnapper. Etc.

Regarding any house purchase in the US, PC would never provide a mortgage to the nit-wits. In the US a "mortgage" requires two legal documents sometimes combined today. A blanket Promissory Note encumbering the borrower and a Mortgage that is recorded in the County records and encumbers the property. The Mortgage (and Note) would trigger interest payments. The IRS does not "believe in" interest free borrowing, even among family members. If no interest is paid, the IRS can impute interest income on the Lender. Charles would never put himself in a position to have to file a US 1040, and the California equivalent, to declare receipt of interest income in the US/California. That could be the ultimate "can of worms."

Also, I doubt PC would be a co-signer on a jumbo mortgage with a US bank either. And it would be a jumbo, because the maximum limit for a conventional or conforming mortgage in Santa Barbara County would be $765,600.

I've compared the ratings on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com for Scobie's literary masterpiece.

On Amazon UK, 53% gave it 5*, 0 4*, 5% 3*, 5% 2* and 36% 1* - 47reviews

On Amazon US, 73% 5*, 4% 4*, 4% 3*, 4% 2* and 13% 1* - 31 reviews

Some of the reviews on amazon.com were scathing but the 5* ones were gushing and nauseating. So H&M appear to have fooled some Americans. Of course the samples were small and the % might change but probably not a lot.

Just a thought: how can H&M have been living in Santa Barbara for 6 weeks when Archie was supposedly photographed with Doria at Tyler Perry's house towards the end of July? I did research the photo and it does look like TP's house near the round fountain. Oh well, what's one more lie with these two!

> I have a hard time believing they would pick a house so close to Hwy 101 as the sound of cars would be irritating IMO

If its the house on Middle Rd, near the top, you would not hear any noise from 101. The cutting for 101 from before San Ysidro to beyond Olive Mill overpasses ends by the time you get to where Middle Rd ends on Coast Village Rd but the commercial development along Coast Village acts as a very good noise insulation wall for 101. Even in the parking lot of Vons noise from 101 is not that noticeable. Plus there is a noticeable grade on Middle Rd to give just a good bit more elevation by the time you get to the end of the street.

If its one of the houses on Cold Spring or Park Lane its totally quiet up there. Very serene.

@Maneki Neko,

I agree. But regardless, we don't know for sure when the pictures that appeared in mid-July were taken. Could have been late June and it took awhile to find a buyer. But as I wrote before, it did surprise me that the John Doe lawsuit (which IMO may not have been about the Doria plastic car pics we've seen) filed on July 23 stated both Harry and Meghan "reside in the County of Los Angeles" and if the new house story is true, they didn't live in that county past very early July. Even if they met with the attorney before actually moving, obviously they knew they were moving... Playing games with the press about where they live is one thing but putting false information in a legal filing?

Of course, the new house story may be BS. And if the BuzzFeed story @tatty posted is true, they were still at TP's July 6. None of it makes much sense to me though. How could those Doria pics look like a Malibu "outing?"

I very much agree with your psychological analysis of MM. You posted at August 12, 2020 at 7:39 PM

Her bipolar manifests as delusions of grandeur, that she can take on The Queen, that the BRF will allow them to merch their Sussex titles and perform minimal Royal duties, that The Duo can make tens of millions in Los Angeles, that Hollywood will be begging her to produce shows. All her great ideas are born during Megsy's manic phases, but then they all fall to earth (fail) when things calm down or when she cycles into her depressive phase.
The DM has a story about why the Harkles left Tyler Perry's mansion - apparently, TP's mega mansion 'wasn't Harry's style' and he prefers houses 'with more character'.

What an ungrateful brat. This is the 18-bedroom mansion that he has been squatting in for FREE for the last five months, and it doesn't quite live up to his lofty standards? He reminds me of the husband of a cousin we invited out to dinner once - he ordered the most expensive items on the menu at an expensive restaurant, and then after the meal said that, while the food was good, but that he'd had better.

Anyone want to bet that TP kicked the freeloaders out?

Also, they are scattershot and flail. I believe in LCC's book there is a reference to a clinician who mentions sociopathy owing to Megs' overarching need for attention. The "Why don't people ask how am I doing?" comment while visiting the poorest of the poor indicated sociopathic tendencies to him, a trained professional.

@Fairy Croc Amazon has done that before. Maybe a decade ago, Under the Banner of Heaven created three types of reviews: people who read the book, Mormons writing pro Mormon things, anti and ex Mormons writing anti Mormon things. Amazon did the same.

In truth, one should only write a review for a book one has read. Serializations aren’t the same thing.

@Fairy Crocodile,

Interesting about the Amazon reviews. I would be ok with that if Amazon did that across the board but so far as I know, they don't. And recently they've been screening reviews to the point that at least one verified purchaser (me!) can't post a negative review about a product. (Mine wasn't about the FF book.) Amazon said I should complain to the seller even though the item was "fulfilled by Amazon." All in all though, book reviews and rankings have become essentially worthless.
@Tatty

Yes, but how would people who bought the book elsewhere leave their opinion? A Walmart copy, for instance? Or bought from any bookstore?

As things stand Amazon doesn't let them a say.

Hello All:

Thank you, thank you guys for all the links and great posts. I've been terribly busy at work and I wanted to wade through some of the bs that they have been posting lately. A couple stand out thoughts:

So they bought a house. I am an American but if I were British I would seriously be getting pissed off badly about this situation. The English are in a unique situation with the Royal Family where they run in favor and grace of the public. The Duchy of Cornwall paying all these ridiculous bills of H&M's is getting sickening! If H&M gave two sh**s about public opinion, they would post publicly that they have paid back the costs for Frogmore. Charles needs to get over whatever childhood blackmail that Harry holds over him. It's getting to the point where I am wondering if Harry found his father in bed with Camilla or something.

The Daily Mail is giving H&M the complete middle finger by leaking all of the snippets from Finding Freedom in such a way. By removing the narritive Meghan put the stories in and randomly popping out such jewels as "Meghan's classmates thought she was just too perfect", H&M sound utterly ridiculous. So even if all these stories are annoying, I think it's worthwhile for DM to see the clicks and comments on them. This way of releasing Finding Freedom book is causing their reputations even further damage. The book was a HORRIBLE idea.

@ Lizzie

True, a lot of reviews are fake, we all came across examples of this. But as things stand Amazon is trying to limit the reviews to Amazon buyers. The book is available from many places and people should be able to leave their opinions on it to inform other potential buyers.

@Fairy Crocodile,

I don't necessarily disagree with your position. But I can also argue that Amazon is within its rights to limit reviews to their own customers. They are a business, not a public service. What I can't argue is acceptable is what is happening with the FF book. That for some products like that book, only Amazon purchasers can post reviews. For other things, bots from wherever can flood the reviews. And for yet other products (like my case) a verified purchaser can't post a negative review-- a review that contained info I certainly wished I'd known before ordering the item from Amazon.

So the property tax for the new house will be $80K plus per year and the property insurance cost will probably be even more. Maybe $40K just for wildfire insurance alone.

Yikes! You can buy very nice houses in neighborhoods with good schools for double that- $240,000 - In the Mid West and other states.

So Megs and H can buy this house but can they afford the yearly and monthly bills? These nitwits (as someone above called them) will be in a state of shock when the bills come in. Add in gardeners, landscaping, house maintenance, roof, water and electric. Of course no one knows the details of this house purchase made with Charles' help. Not even the exact address in Montecito or Santa Barbara. The Paps will discover it or Meghan will phone them.

@ xxxxx: If you're right, this means that MM has thrown JH under the bus - again. I've been reading the comments on FF (extracts as well, although there is only so much sugar I can take before I feel nauseous) and commentators who have read the book say it portrays MM as an absolutely perfect human being, a saint, but JH is portrayed as a real mess with mental-health problems and anger issues. This and the purple prose - people are wondering whether MM wrote the book (or portions of the book) herself.

This is the part of HG Tudor's analysis I found most instructive:

The subject is a Mid Range Narcissist, this means she does not know what she is, does not see anything wrong with what she does, operates purely by instinct and will not change.

Meghan wouldn't like to read this about herself. 'Mid Range' sounds mediocre, like a mid-range automobile, and we know Megsie likes to think she is the best at everything going.

I read a lot of psychological suspense fiction and cunning sociopathic killers usually feature heavily in this genre. The stock 'evil mastermind', if you will, who devises and carries out intricate plans to stalk/maim/murder their prey or else just completely destroy their reputations. If you say "Narcissist" to me, I immediately think of one of these types--the smooth, chameleonlike killer who walks among ordinary mortals, passing as one of us, often brilliantly, for years, decades, becoming pillars of industry, the community, the church . . all the while nursing elaborate plans to bring somebody(ies) down and leave no fingerprints. A famous literary example of what I suppose HG Tudor would call a Top-Level Narcissist is the Marquise de Mertuil from Les Liaisons Dangerouses. As played so impeccably by Glenn Close in the 1988 film, she is the doyenne of Parisian society. Impeccably dressed and coiffed at all times, she is at the vanguard of fashion. She cultivates everyone, and everyone wishes to be cultivated by her in her salons. Her friendship is a great honor and advances one's social standing immeasurably. She is using everyone she meets for her own ends--which is mainly for her own amusement and that of her lapdog, the Vicomte de Valmont, her beta narc. When her feminine vanity is threatened by two younger, more beautiful rivals, she sets wheels in motion to utterly destroy their lives, using Valmont as her henchman in both cases. He does her bidding because he is secretly in love with her himself and is (almost) her equal in depravity, but he's still got a glimmer of humanity and bitterly regrets his actions. He unmasks her role in the plot before he dies; had he not, her fingerprints would have been absolutely nowhere near the scene of the crimes.

The Marquise has deep-seated Narc rage and loves nobody nearly so much as she loves herself, but she has an essential quality Meghan lacks . . actually, two: She has complete, iron-clad self-control, and can delay her gratification, which leads into the second: She takes her time, never rushing, waiting for the most opportune moments to strike. According to our Narc expert, MM is a purely instinctual creature. She does not have a Master Plan, really, beyond what is going to gratify her whims of the moment. She knew she wanted to be bigger, richer, more famous than Catherine, the woman who will be Queen--she is constitutionally incapable of taking a backseat to anyone, not even the Queen, despite lacking any sort of talent or couth to validate her own self-regard.

All sociopaths may be narcissists . . .so it follows that all narcissists are sociopaths. Not all sociopaths are *violent* . . Meg is not normally the physically confrontational sort of Narc, but there have been enough incidents to not rule out that she's capable of it. A Narcissist must preserve their vision of Self at all costs.
AnyaAmasova said…
@Hikari,
All psychopaths and sociopaths are narcissists, but not all narcissists are sociopaths or psychopaths.
Hikari said…
Anya,

It's a really fine line. I see qualities of both in MM, who definitely targets specific people to cause harm to (Kate) and is well aware that her intent is to wound. She has also exhibited violence toward staffers and I think could certainly do so to Harry or Archie, if he exists. Behind closed doors, though, as her facade management is so important to her.

Sociopaths and narcissists: what they have in common

“Both sociopaths and narcissists have personality disorders, meaning that certain personality traits are so extreme that it causes harm to themselves or others, or causes multiple losses and failures in life, such as losing jobs or important relationships, or failing in school,” Aimee Daramus, PsyD, a Chicago-based licensed clinical psychologist, tells Health.

People with both disorders value themselves above others, can't step outside their awareness of what they want and need, and consider others' feelings as secondary or a non-issue for them. They can also be charismatic and charming. But those traits are coming from different psychological places, and for different reasons.

Hikari said…
Traits all narcissists share

“A narcissist is essentially somebody who is self-obsessed to an extreme degree,” Darrel Turner, PhD, a forensic psychologist in Louisiana, tells Health. “This is someone who has a high level of confidence and belief in themselves, but to a very unhealthy and harmful extent—to the point at which it actually distorts their sense of reality about themselves, other people, and the world around them. It can also lead them into manipulative and exploitative behavior, because they will prioritize their own needs above anyone else’s.”

That definition can seem broad, especially with the #selfie generation and in today’s cutthroat work culture. But people frequently misuse the term narcissist. “Just because someone is ‘full of herself’ or takes advantage of others doesn’t necessarily mean they are a full-blown narcissist,” says Turner.

To be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders V, someone would have an exaggerated sense of self-appraisal, set goals based on gaining the approval of others, set unreasonable high personal standards, lack empathy, be antagonistic, demonstrate feelings of entitlement, make excessive attempts to attract and be the focus of the attention of others, and firmly hold to the belief that they are better than others. It’s not a phase or a mood; it’s a lifelong disorder.

Above all is the narcissist’s need to be the most important, Daramus says. “That usually comes out of insecurity, but occasionally you get it coming out of a place of privilege, from someone who has genuinely never been exposed to the idea that other people matter,” she says. (cf. Harry seems to have been raised thusly. He is a Beta Narc.)

What drives a sociopath

Sociopaths—people who are actually diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder—have many narcissistic characteristics, but this psychological disorder is typically much more dangerous. “Whereas a narcissist may occasionally harm people as a consequence of their self-prioritization, the harm they cause to others is usually unintentional,” explains Turner. “More often than not, it’s a consequence of their self-obsession rather than the motivator which drives them. A sociopath, on the other hand, essentially ‘gets off’ by hurting other people.”( . . .Kate? . . .)

That doesn’t mean every sociopath is a serial killer. “It’s actually more common for a sociopath to be driven by a need to control and manipulate other people, to damage them in some way, and to gain money and power,” Turner says. “They are more likely to be in a parasitic or controlling/abusive relationship with a romantic partner; to engage in risky activities like drugs, problematic gambling, and promiscuous sex; to backstab and sabotage their colleagues at work; and to carry out financial fraud schemes.”

Someone with APD, according to the DSM-V, is egocentric, acts based on personal gratification, lacks empathy, is incapable of intimacy, and is manipulative, deceitful, callous, risk-taking, and impulsive. “A sociopath is someone who, on a biological level, is lacking awareness of others’ feelings, and isn’t all that interested in anybody else’s rules,” says Daramus. “They’re far more charming and exciting than most narcissists, whose charm is more superficial. Because of the lack of empathy, sociopaths feel little or nothing when they hurt or take advantage of others.”

Sociopaths are especially dangerous because they often go to great efforts to hide their true personality and appear likable, adds Turner. A true narcissist, on the other hand, often doesn’t—and couldn’t—try to hide what they are.

Given their psychological makeups, it’s unlikely that someone diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder of antisocial personality disorder would think they need or ever seek help.

Is This the REAL THING THIS TIME? or is this just stringing people along?

Recently there was (yet another) post somewhere out in the world about how they will soon divorce.  And my first thought was: Haven't I heard this before?  which moved quickly to: how many times have I heard this (through the years)? There were a number of questions raised which ... I don't know.  I'm not a lawyer.  One of the points which has been raised is that KC would somehow be shelling out beaucoup money to get her to go "away".  That he has all this money stashed away and can pull it out at a moment's notice.  But does he? He inherited a lot of "stuff" from his mother but ... isn't it a lot of tangible stuff like properties? and with that staff to maintain it and insurance.  Inside said properties is art, antique furniture and other "old stuff" which may be valuable" but ... that kind of thing is subject to the whims and bank accounts of the rarified people who may be interested in it (which is not most of us in terms of bei

A Quiet Interlude

Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event?   Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th?  Oscar's - March 10th?   In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US.  The IRS just never goes away.  Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on).  There's always another one.  Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California.   That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.   Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere.  But.  The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

Christmas is Coming

The recent post which does mention that the information is speculative and the response got me thinking. It was the one about having them be present at Christmas but must produce the kids. Interesting thought, isn't it? Would they show?  What would we see?  Would there now be photos from the rota?   We often hear of just some rando meeting of rando strangers.  It's odd, isn't it that random strangers just happen to recognize her/them and they have a whole conversation.  Most recently it was from some stranger who raved in some video (link not supplied in the article) that they met and talked and listened to HW talk about her daughter.  There was the requisite comment about HW of how she is/was so kind).  If people are kind, does the world need strangers to tell us (are we that kind of stupid?) or can we come to that conclusion by seeing their kindness in action?  Service. They seem to always be talking about their kids, parenthood and yet, they never seem to have the kids
