In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US. The IRS just never goes away. Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on). There's always another one.
Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California. That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.
Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere. But. The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

I think hapless is genuinely happy in California. He does not care for and thus does not miss his family and friends, his country nor being a working royal. His only interest in his family, country and the monarchy is how he can profit from using them, and how he can harm them, which simply comes from a spiteful and stupid man.
So, why does he love California? He gets attention and awards and is popular, and he does not have to actually achieve anything, have any talents, nor live by any moral or ethical rules. He can lie, be rude (check out his speech at these awards), and basically live a lazy self-indulgent life and he can get away with it. In America, it does not matter that being the son of a king means nothing (he has no role in the monarchy and is unlikely to inherit much at all from his father - his brother gets it all because that is how the system works). People don't care about what he did to his family nor any of the other appalling things he has done. Although Oprah humiliated the author of the Million Pieces memoir, she does not care about the lies and fabrications in the hapless memoir and in the interviews the duo have given.
Of course, there are Americans who do care about the lies, the pretense, the rewards for doing nothing good or worthwhile, and so on. But in Tinseltown, and various other spots in the country, he can find plenty who do not care, who are as shallow and materialistic and lacking in empathy as he is.
As for her ... why the no-show? I do not believe the story about the sick child. Speculation?
They have been on separate paths for ages now. She only supports him if she can benefit, and she saw no benefit to her for attending. (Although, she is still very much stuck in the 90s, so Costner and Travolta are the permanent A-listers that she wants to be ...).
They are all but officially separated, and we won't see joint public appearances again ... unless it benefits her. She wanted access to Costner so she attended that event with him (it was him the organizers wanted).

you can correct by practicing something called "mewing" which is using your tongue muscle and placing it against the roof of your mouth. there are plenty of videos on youtube about it.

Thanks- I'll look into this more carefully - at first sight I don't quite get it. I'd assumed that the tortoise-poke was more to do with poor posture and allowing the neck muscles to weaken.
I once learned, in a self-defence class that pulling one's chin in as far as possible helps to protect the airways if someone's trying to strangle you - gives you time to grab their little fingers and jerk them back (very painful, especially if you break the bone). Might be useful for him to bear that in mind.

I recall a newlywed couple being livid, c1970, because one of their wedding photos, taken by their appointed photographer, had appeared in the window of a local building society to advertise mortgages for first-time buyers like them. It's a nightmare being 'ethical' or staying true to your values when buying products. I am not influenced by advertising or influencers in what products I buy, and I have blacklisted products because of their advertising or who they are associated with, as well as unethical business practices. The problem is that if you complain to the company they will simply ignore you. Both governments and big business serve the woke and the out-of-touch elite and not their actual customers. No one thinks of getting back to basics: quality, affordability, accessibility. Nail those three and you will have customers for life.
The duo have the same problem. They do not pay attention to staying true to basics. They are now being mocked in America, home of the woke and the completely out-of-touch elite. Since they also have not built or created anything to create wealth for themselves (or even something useful), I don't think the elite are going to be loyal to them, and the woke are going to wane in influence. (The world goes mad and then suddenly people come to their senses - it has happened so often in history.)
I do wonder where she is and why she has not done a pap walk, in a car park. Maybe she has had cosmetic procedures done and is waiting for it to settle!

Let us take something small: freebie gifts. The royal family has very clear guidelines about not accepting gifts. She refused to comply and took them all, giving some away to staff, thus compromising staff and trying to portray herself as kind and generous.
I also disagree that hapless persuaded her to be a working royal. She pushed for the marriage. She gave up her job and moved in with him, without even getting a working visa to stay in the UK. If he had not married her so hastily, she would not have been able to stay in the UK ... unless she got a working visa, and when the royal family offered to help her get acting work and a working visa, the duo were highly insulted.
She knew that being a working royal would be a gold card to the lifestyle she wanted back in California. (And believed she could renew that card, without actually having sachieved anything to warrant having that card.) That is why she married hapless, and so hastily. By the time of the Southern African tour, she was long past ready to bolt, and that is what they did when they got back to the UK.

Yes, she wasn't well prepared but that's because she followed H quickly to the UK without much thinking, it seems - other than to hook a rich husband - and because she had no intention of being a working royal, IMO. She was in too much of a rush. She probably thought being married to H would mean fabulous jewels, couture clothes, beauty and pampering sessions etc. She's shallow and never thinks ahead. She could have been an asset, had she been willing to pull her weight, but she blew her chance. I knew she'd want to go back to California and I think she encouraged H to leave.

While I was looking up this event, I came across a website that has probably been mentioned here before called What Meghan Wore - perhaps it's a spelling mistake and the last word should be with an H? No. Without photos or video, this “Marcus” they’re talking about is Markus Anderson of SoHo House, with whom Meghan’s been friends for years. He and Meghan used to travel together quite a bit before Harry came along.
By the way, y’all. I just looked up Soho House and guess where they’ve got a beach club resort: in Canouan, an island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It opened in March 2022, and in October 2023, not only were Harry and Meghan were papped in Canouan, it’s been reported they stayed at the Soho House Beach Club. Since there were no other sightings of them, it’s pretty plausible that they used Soho House.

As someone who has been in Jamaica for over a week, and as someone with high connections in the country and lucky to be visiting high end places here… Meghan has been here since before Friday and the story about a child or children being unwell is bogus, as she has been spotted partying, drinking excessively and is enjoying herself - without her husband or her children, but she does have an older guy with her, and she couldn’t get enough of him at a restaurant on Sunday where I saw her again … I’m very certain that she is divorcing him and she has no intention whatsoever in keeping the children either. I am not sure who the guy was but he looked in his 40/50s if not older. She is using the movie premiere as a way to get away with this man undercover it seems.

My amateur psychology: hapless does not know this consciously, but if Mummy and Papa had not divorced, Mummy would still be alive and his life would have worked out perfectly. But also, toxicity in marriage is normal, as is having affairs and mostly living apart (even if this is in a big house you share). Mummy crying and throwing tantrums ... all normal. Just do not get divorced because something bad will happen to Mummy. (and unlike Papa, he would lose his children).
Consciously, I think he would have no qualms about leaving her. He does not get papped unless he goes to the gym or a walk on the beach. But I think he does go out a lot, without her. Perhaps he doesn't get papped when doing so because she does not know where he is going. That they are both having affairs is feasible. Remember Meryl Streep turning up with her husband to Hollywood events with no sign that they were actually separated? The wife is just not a good actor like Meryl, and doesn't have many years of a good marriage as a foundation. The 'happy and in love' act wss always over the top.

Agreed. The whole thing is so odd. I’ve read some interesting tidbits concerning the premiere and venue as follows, gleaned primarily from X, Reddit and even Trip Advisor:
- the Carib 5 theatre complex has various sized movie theatres, and at least some of them have box seats and/or balcony or upper levels.
- some posters believe that in the video where Harkle is sitting, gesticulating, and instructing Harkle Jr. to do something at which point he jumps up from his seat and heads to back of theatre trailed immediately (and ludicrously) by his bodyguard, they conjecture that Harkle was disgruntled with their seating location and suspect she told Harkle Jr. to ask that they be moved into the VIP grouping rather than being in ground level seats. I can believe that. Re the seating it was said:
1. The true VIPs were in the box seats (or some said balcony) above the floor level seats where the duo found themselves, the VIPs being Prime Minister and wife, Paramount head Brian Robbins and designer wife (I LOVED her casual but ladylike and perfect for occasion cream outfit), Bob Marley’s family, any filmmakers etc… One person who seemed to have insider knowledge said that there are very few box seats at the theatre and simply no space for Harkle and her Plus One, hence their placement in middle of ground floor.
1a. Comment from me: some people wondered why the Harkles weren’t put smack dab in row #1, and assumed the VIPs were in row #1. I say no way would the VIPs be placed right up front next to the screen: being too close cricks one’s neck, the sound is blastingly loud, and those are worst seats in house. Kids love to be in row #1. Therefore I say the Harkles should have been placed in the sticky front row. They are so stupid they would’ve thought that was premium placement.
2. Another poster said she heard that the VIPs may have been ushered into another of the Carib 5 theatres for private quiet screening of the movie while enjoying VIP tasty treats and beverages, while the others in main theatre raucously enjoyed the movie with their sodas, popcorn, Milk Duds etc.
3. In any case, I am certain Harkle and Harkle Jr were stung by their placement for the show.
4. One wag on Reddit mentioned that she was enjoying the whole thing and how everyone was parsing the video of Carib 5 seating placement which called to mind the Zapruder film being picked part over and over and over again. I laughed at that until my sides hurt.

That is a significant aspect of the duo's behaviour... they do not grow and learn. Meghan Markle is being offered a massive “dream role” deal to return to TV in a blockbuster spinoff of her hit show Suits, senior network executives have revealed.
The Duchess of Sussex is also understood to have been offered the opportunity to make her debut as a Hollywood director on at least one episode of the legal drama’s new series.
It has been greenlit by studio giant NBCUniversal under the working title “Suits: Los Angeles” and several episodes have already been written by Meghan’s friend Aaron Korsch, who created the original show that ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019.
A senior production source yesterday said contract talks between the network and powerhouse talent agency WME, which represents the duchess, are continuing and added: “This is shaping up to be one of the biggest TV deals of the year.
“Meghan is in a commanding position. They want to expand a successful franchise in which she has a ready-made fan base of millions worldwide. They want her back and they are prepared to pay what it takes to get her.”
The source suggested an official announcement could follow as early as next month, with production starting on the new show soon after as studio bosses seek to cash in on massive renewed interest in Suits.

This news is all over social media. But rumours of her writing her autobiography and having a third written has been doing the rounds for years now. Is that title something someone made up in jest or does the wife think it is cool? Here is what her thinking she could be:
comparative darkness and coolness caused by shelter from direct sunlight. (the royal family wanted to hide her light; they did not want her to shine)
a colour, especially with regard to how light or dark it is or as distinguished from one nearly like it. (she is of mixed race)
But, the slang or urban definitions:
a subtle, sneering expression of contempt for or disgust with someone (does she think this is some kind of virtue?)
"to talk trash about a friend or acquaintance, to publicly denounce or disrespect,” (again, does she think this is clever and something positive?)
I'm getting tired of the Harkles, but have always enjoyed the posters on this blog.
Wasn't too perturbed by the Jamaica trip, regardless of how it transpired. They did look like out-of-place last minute additions, but who knows what really happened? It's up to the UK Foreign Office to determine if the visit did any harm to Britain. Perhaps it's just a tempest in a teapot.

@GWAH, I looked at the DM article you mentioned, the author seems to be a Bryony Gordon type, who projects her own issues on to the wife, so she sympathizes with her. Confessional 'journalism' has become a thing in media these days. Reporters, like the rest of us, have always had personal problems, but they used to be expected to keep them to themselves & retain a position of unbiased emotional detachment. Those days are long gone, apparently. The wife may have also 'reached out' to that writer & claimed emotional distress. She's done it before.

My doctor discovered abnormal heart sounds on my annual physical and sent me for an echocardiogram 3 days later. I was diagnosed and notified (within an hour) that I had a congenital bicuspid aortic valve that was severely narrowed and calcified. A cardiac catheterization revealed narrowing of 2 vessels, which led to two bypasses along with the valve replacement. I am now 15 weeks post-op and in the middle of a 12 week Intensive Cardiac Rehab program. Along with diet and stress management lectures, cardiac nurses monitor my heart while I do cardio exercise 3 times weekly. I am back at my gym, too. I feel great and everyone says I am doing really well. I am very grateful for all of the excellent medical care I received. If any of you ever face the need for a similar procedure, don’t hesitate. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I imagined. The first 36 hours are a blur, but I felt better each day and came home on the 5th day after surgery.

I think Wallis II is deteriorating, based on her appearance and desperation. She looked like a clown trying to walk in that long black skirt. She held it up in front, then gave up on that and began shuffling. Her makeup was atrocious and those Groucho Marx eyebrows she’s sporting are not flattering. She was deliberately not using her infamous rictus grin and I can’t help wondering why.
I find it difficult to believe that she will be directing an episode of a Suits spin-off, unless it’s one of those Hollywood favors to compensate for cleaning up a murder scene.
David 2.0 seems to be holding his own. He was appropriate during their parade to the edge of the red carpet and inside of the theatre. I still think he is in over his head. I bet he has repressed his memory of William’s attempts to warn him.
It strikes me that we little people have got so used to the NHS chucking us out of hospital at the earliest possible safe moment, because they need the bed for the next patient, that we've forgotten that being anaesthetised & operated on is an exhausting business. Rest is the best post-operative medicine, even when there are staff to help.
Not every procedure can be done via a keyhole, or under local numbing and sedation. and so something like a 6" incision in the body wall, allowing the surgeon to have a good rummage around (sorry, moving other organs aside) is a major wound which itself needs time and rest to heal properly, regardless of what else may have to be removed.

Survival International is a NGO and non-profit organization that advocates for indigenous and tribal people. The org said it informed Africa Parks of the violence against the Baka people living near the Odzala-Kokoua National Park by AP rangers over a decade ago.

The two organizations seem not to agree with what the actual story is. From this article, it seems haplesss did nothing wrong and him and African Parks acted appropriately when they got the allegations. The media ignore almost all house break-ins, unless it is a celebrity...and then they use old photographs. It is not actually a story about crime or conditions that foster crime. The break-in had nothing to do with the duo. And not everyone in Montecito has the high level of security that they have.

There are so many awards that I conclude the duo are used to draw attention. Who benefits from this awards industry? It used to be the hard working and talented people in the industry but now it seems to be the fashion and influencer industry.
They are bandwaggoning the Senate hearing about online child safety. If they are as important as they imply they are, why are they not at the Senate hearing, or even presenting?
I do agree that online bullying is almost impossible to control. If kids are ruthlessly and nastily bullying your kid in the playground or at school, you can do something about it. But you can't stop the bullying online, and parents are saying they cannot stop their children going online and engaging in social media sites where the bullying happens.

So these claimants, including Harold, are on the hook for £2M. The judge is unlikely to award costs despite the small victory of the dragon slayer and his co-claimants because MGN had offered more money to settle ahead of the trial which they all turned down. They are all stuck with £2M legal costs between them and unlike Harold, the other co-claimants don’t have deep pockets.
Sherborne then asked for MGN to post a sum of £2M for costs on the basis of indemnity which is not something the UK court grants.
His argument for this request is based upon MGN’s willingness to settle cases to avoid trial, but unfortunately for him, this has gone too far as far as MGN is concerned and the fact that the 115 articles he now wants tested in a new lawsuit are the weakest of the 148 articles he originally wanted tested in trial and therefore unlikely to win the lawsuit.
IMO, he wants that £2M because it’s the most likely way his costs can be paid because his clients don’t have the money to pay the bills he has already ran up for the lawsuit.

This is the video they made when they got the Ripple of Hope award. These are people who work one hour a week and go around the country giving speeches and accepting awards. They got the perfect opportunity to stand up for women's and human rights in Africa and they simply passed on the message, and nothing was done. The least hapless could have done was get on a plane, go to the park and speak to people on the ground, and put together a credible team to investigate.
KCs are overrated. The advantage of an undergraduate is that the undergrad will be up to date with the law, the KC not so much.

Film: Netflix bought the book rights and will be producing the film. The duo will be credited as executive producers. So, script still being written.
Series: There was talk of that pre Wuthering Heights novel. It seems they have picked up this one themselves. So, script still being written.
Documentaries/unscripted things: They have a lot of footage that did not make it into their mockumentary series about themselves. So, they will try to make some money with that. They have inserted themselves into the online bullying of children issue so they may be filming when they meet parents (media have not been allowed to stay after the initial photo op and they claim that there have been many other meetings). Are they going to profit from parents' grief and guilt and anger? Netflix will take the mockumentary about themselves, but I doubt they will produce any other kind of money spinner for Netflix. (Note that the best documentaries are usually not unscripted.)

They have hardly done any 'charity' appearances or promotions since then, but have picked up a lot of self-aggrandizing awards!
Idea: they can put together all the footage of them receiving awards interspersed with vignettes of them praising themselves using a lot of word salad. I bet they have enough (8 or more) to stretch that out to a three-part series.

She had some pretty good merching and advertising deals and did the occasional Hallmark movie, plus managed to have a lot of exotic holidays and did some great networking at Soho houses around the globe. He had staff to manage everything for him, plenty of properties for free weekends and holidays, plus it was easy to get free overseas holidays, he had friend and family, plenty of money in the bank with security and the costs of appearances all taken care of, and the tabloids loved him ...

This is exactly how I feel, I do find them very boring and unexciting most of the time and then they'll show their greed/stupidity/arrogance for us to dissect. Really, they're just a bunch of losers.

Veteran Sussex watchers were ¬yesterday in their power-showers, trying to scrub clean after the latest hosing of treacle from Meghan and Harry.
The couple had issued another of their press statements, this time about child safety on the internet.
Such announcements have become a regular part of the Sussexes’ modus operandi, linking them to a topical issue on which they can parade their empathy.
Their statement, not for the first time, was peppered with American emotionalism, tear-stained platitude mixed with a certain self-serving preachiness. Florid, banal, breathy, reeking of opportunism, it is an art form the exiled royals are fast making their own.
Commenting on a US Senate hearing into dreadful instances of internet child abuse, the duo applauded the ‘bravery and determination’ (one noun alone will never do) of parents whose children had suffered.
As they clawed their way into the circle of virtue – outta the way, people, this is about us –the Sussexes boasted that ‘over the past few years we have spent time with many of these families, listening to their heartache and their hopes for the urgent change that is needed’.
This was ‘an issue that transcends division and party lines’. They also disclosed that one father had told them ‘if love could have saved them, all of our children would still be here’.
Journalistic scepticism may seem harsh given the sensitivity of the issue at hand; yet when an issue is this delicate, would it not be seemly for minor royals to keep their self-promotional psycho-babble to themselves?
This is not the first time that Prince Harry and his actress wife have contributed their unremarkable thoughts on a raw area of public debate.
If they did so spontaneously after, for example, having a microphone thrust into their faces at some public event, it might feel all right.
But the Sussexes come out with sentimental saws on the level of low-grade greetings cards, and they do so by placing them under the ‘news’ section of their personal website. Sorry, but this is pure PR puffery. ‘Turn pain into purpose,’ said Harry at a World Mental Health Day event in New York in October. As it happens, he was talking about how those who suffer misfortune can sometimes become stronger as a result.
‘Days are long but years are short,’ added his consort at the same event.
Eh? It’s the sort of inscrutable gibberish guru Master Po used to say to Grasshopper in the 1970s TV show Kung Fu.
Or take this corker. ‘I’m confident,’ said Meghan, again on mental health, ‘that with more ears and awareness and visibility of what is really happening, we can make some significant change together.’ More ears? Are two not enough for anyone?
As part of her payback to Netflix, from which she and her husband received millions of dollars, the Duchess disclosed that in her wedding speech she spoke of ‘the everlasting knowing that, above all, love wins’.
If you said that at most English county weddings there would be a ripple of mirth and a teasing forest of fingers down throats. Heaven knows what Harry’s old muckers made of his bride’s claim.
Guy Pelly must have almost done the nose trick.
But Meghan appears impervious to British taste. She is immune to the most diabetic-high levels of rhetorical saccharine.

If British politicians issued the sort of emetic press releases that Harry and Meghan do, they would be swiftly denounced for gross misjudgement and for trying to surf on other people’s misery. Again, you may think this a harsh comment.

I am afraid I would disagree with you. They are behaving in an intensely political manner, beating their breasts for public consumption. Note, too, the repeated calls for ‘change’. These smack of political campaigning.
The Sussexes may think that their press releases are powerful and poetic. To British tastes they will, possibly, more likely look manipulative and opportunistic.
Merely as literary ventures, they are cloyingly mawkish, viscous in their sentimentality.

Writing in Elle magazine, Meghan said that women should ‘focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings’. And then there was ‘a ripple of hope can turn into a wave of change’ – a phrase the couple pinched off the late Robert Kennedy and used at some humanitarian awards in 2022.
There is much ‘focusing on wellbeing’ and ‘relating to shared experiences and challenges’ and ‘discovering of opportunities for growth’.
‘Mentoring’ is a must-have, both for mentors and, dreadful word, ‘mentees’. And ‘hearts’ are invariably ‘heavy’.
Other people’s disaster and grief are ridden like trams.

I don’t want to be THAT guy (I love Lady C) but her news about something “revealed” about Harkles she got from us from mid-2022. I mentioned 2 ongoing investigations within the Palace; the contents of one, sealed and the other pertains to their Royal association & LoS matters.

Recently last year I updated to say we likely will not see the result of online monitoring and activity but that intelligence shows what we found: they have a misleading online support network. The other item mentioned, stalled. We likely won’t know more until this year unfolds.

I truly believe this is what she refers to. Do you really think this is the Year they will be quietly taken out of the LoS? Their gifted titles would remain very likely and of course his born-into Princely title. But the thought is they would effectively be taken out of LoS.

I’ve often mentioned too, that the contents of the sealed investigation into their shady online infantry, may lend itself to help with the second matter; which is, keeping them (or not) in the LoS.

Much of what is in Seward's book seems to be unverified gossip (e.g. she cannot personally know what William and hapless said to each other in private). But the gossip about what Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth thought of TBW comes from a lady in waiting of the late Queen (so, a close companion). Phillip never trusted TBW and thought she would be trouble. The Queen thought the wedding dress was too white, the long sermon at the wedding annoyed both Phillip and Elizabeth (who were also bemused that the preacher did not actually know the couple), and Charles walking her half way down the aisle was considered odd.
