A continue on the financial conversation. Perhaps Harry, besides being a hostage, is downtrodden over the change of lifestyle. We know they don’t have surplus financial resources, not even enough to be ‘financially independent’. We also know that Harry is cheap, doesn’t carry cash as a Royal, and expected and was handed freebies across the UK daily as a representative of The Queen. The guy is not used to dipping into his own funds to pay for anything. I’d suspect it’s a family and institutional discussion that is hammered into the Royals, ‘we don’t pay.’ This is what Harry knows and is accustomed too.

They didn’t pay for Canada, they didn’t pay for Tyler Perry’s house, they didn’t pay for Oprah and Tyler’s private jet transportation. They didn’t pay for security.

Enter Meghan and Montecito. Who paid the $3mm down payment on the mansion? The rumored year of funding from Charles? Meghan’s clothing merch deals while in the RF? An *advance* from Netflix? Backers? ...or, since June, has it been Harry and his coveted trust and savings- the only money he knew he’d have for life in the RF?

We know their living expenses for the mortgage are over $1mm per year, this doesn’t include any thing else: staff, nannies, beauty, Harry’s *mud masks*, travel costs, and general upkeep for a family of three.

Is Harry losing his mind over real life expenditure? Or is he still safely tucked away under a line item in the Duchy accounts at Clarence House?

@Maneki Neko,

Thanks for that link... but that article is about the fact that this is PP's 'joint' longest stay in hospital. ie: he was in for 11 days last time, if I recall correctly?

Nowhere in the article does it say that he has an infection in a joint... only that he is in hospital due to an infection.

I think Harry maybe has moments of panic over finances . If he is lucid for a time

Should he question the state of their finances to MM then possibly,
if she is in a good mood when he asks

He is then probably pulled back into the deluded fantasy world that he and his narc wife live in.

He is then reassured of his royal rank, Prince title ,popularity earning capacity and his family money and entitlement .

Then all is well for a brief time .

Any other time he panics or questions finances if she is having a bad day reading reviews

Haz may be scorned mocked derided threatened undermined by his scheming wife
What a way to live

@wbbm. Didn't know that about whisky galore and Gaelic. Will go for the older film, not 2016 version.

I don't know any Gaelic, despite Sturgeon's best efforts to have a Gaelic equivalent for everything. Train station signs, ambulances, police cars... nothing is safe until it has The Gaelic emblazoned on the side of it. Our local dialect would be Doric. My grunnie would have described Megz as a clarty, manky besom who needs the smirk wiped frae her puss and who should be affronted by her blethering. I'm sure you get the picture. Oh, and she and her man need to stop telling us about their visits to the cludgie

Everyone remembers where they were when first they heard of... The Death of Diana Princess of Wales.

I was in the paper shop. A young woman entered and looking at one of the papers (obviously an early edition) observed that it looked grave and then seeing another of the papers announced 'she is in her grave'. Brahahaha. Hey, don't blame me; that was what she said.

I wonder, I ask rhetorically, how any of you good ladies would feel if following the premature death of your former daughter-in-law you were forced to tell the world how wonderful your son's ex was and to lower the flag above your home to half mast. I can't see my Mother doing that. I have often wondered to what extent the caterwauling for what was after all a death caused by a bad driver combined with the non-wearing of a seat belt was manipulated by the then Prime Minister. I mean, the absurd speech by my Lord the Earl of Spencer and that ghastly song by Mr John as well as the flag business and the traipsing behind the coffin of the two royal Princes. It (the song) was perhaps a touching ditty before the lyrical rewrite (although very blue pill) but yuck-inducing when the lyrics changed.

Not everyone likes the Queen. Her attempt two days ago at gaslighting us refuseniks was appalling especially when her own husband has supposedly been in hospital following his bad reaction to the second jab. The sight of the pall-bearers of Captain Sir Tom all wearing masks when he died after having caught the Covid from a mask wearer strikes me as perverse. Will I ever forget that balmy summer's night after having left the club and in the company of my Pupil Master and finding ourselves outside Buckingham Palace he waving his fists at the Palace and uttering abuse that really one should shield a lady's ears from.

I see that Prince Harry has been on a bus; this must be a first for him.

Sylvia,

I think you’re onto something. Meghan is his new handler, afterall. With how many different stories she makes up for the simplest of things, I cannot imagine dealing with someone like that day-to-day. The Schemer Extraordinaire. Harry probably doesn’t remember how they met, how much money he is supposed to have today, or Archie’s first word. Side note: I’m waaaaay in the camp of Archie not being with them or real- parents would be much more protective and realistic when talking about their own child, due to pride. Also, why doesn’t the Queen see Archie? Why is he just running somewhere in the background???

But yes, the web of lies that Harry is now feeding us. We have to question, why? Why are all the lies necessary?

It’s funny, I’ve been trying to recall a celebrity who made up an entire *persona* for the world at large, without a hint of a resume or authenticity, and I haven’t been able to land on one.

Is it possible that Mudslide mansion

Ophrah's estate is so vast in Montecito
Grip & Drip could be living on part of her estate rent free. That is their normal pattern since flowing the UK

The rumour /mention of MM meeting delvery drivers at the gates of Mudslide Mansions is suspicious

The next door proximity to OW .

All other homesthey have lived in are rented or borrowed
If they are not making enough money and are both tight fisted...

After the OW interview they both might find themselves on the move again .

The news that they bought such a huge estate in Montecito was maybe a lie to boast and compete with the RF perhaos?

Is it possible that along with the loss of the patronages, BP has removed significant funding, or Charles has finally found his backbone, and stopped using Duchy funds to fuel Harry's tailspin? Did their accountants just explain to them what they will owe in federal/state taxes for 2020? (California has particularly high tax rate).

Underneath the sickening PR blitz, there does seem to be some desperation showing. Could be the usual narcissistic need for camera time? True.

Oh, and @blondegator, Meghan DOES NOT represent Californians, either. She is her own bad self on her own. One can be shallow without being rude to the Queen of England.

That has always been my contention—Mudslide Towers was still being listed as a “for hire” location for film production as recently as November of 2020 on a company website. An intrepid blogger posed as a production scout interested in renting the home And was sent the application form, fee schedule—$7000 per diem/10 hour minimum—And available dates, which included most of December. This inquiry was made six months after the Harkles supposedly moved in to the mansion in July without any of the neighbors noticing.

Harry and Meg, both individually and jointly have never ever owned any property themselves. It’s all been rentals and freebies from family and other connections. Harry is legendarily too cheap to even buy a round at the pub—Yet we are meant to believe that after an extended period of nearly a year Of couch surfing into millionaire loaners, they suddenly Purchase and furnish a $14 million property in the midst of a pandemic and make this massive move without anyone noticing? This was several months before the announcement of the Netflix deal. It is far more likely, if they are even in Montecito at all, that this property Is being rented in the short term or they are being permitted to stay there ala Tyler Perry’s In exchange for some favors that can only be guessed at. Long time Montecito resident Rob Lowe expressed his dubiousness at the arrangement in a hilarious manner in national television. Let’s just say that I believe the residence of Montecito know the truth. It’s not that big of a place, and the property where the Harkles are allegedly based is very well known. It also was unsellable for over 10 years before they suddenly moved in. They could’ve gotten it cheap I suppose, due to structural concerns that mean that no sensible person with a knowledge of California earthquakes would want to make the investment. It’s a bit odd isn’t it that after Harry and Megan supposedly closed on this house that it was still being advertised as a posh Airbnb for production companies? I suppose we will be given some sort of grand tour during the Oprah interview, But that will prove nothing, even if we get to see “Archie’s room” And the vegan painted gender neutral nursery prepared for the new baby. I mean “new baby”. Harpo productions, Oprah‘s company, has very deep pockets. If they are housing the perfidious pair, maybe Oprah can also assume the costs for answering they are mail since Charles has given that up.

Harry and Meghan’s TV chat with Oprah Winfrey is set to attract money-spinning Super Bowl-style adverts.

The duo’s March 7 interview will net huge sums for slots on US network CBS.

And experts believe coverage on ITV – the favourite channel to win the UK rights – could attract ads worth £100,000 per 30-second slot.

More than 50 million people are due to watch the interview in the US next month, making it as popular as the American Football

I have been trying to work out how the Sussexes' business model works, if they have one, even vaguely.

The business model I used to work with can be reduced to the following: idea, detailed plan of all aspects, approval, development, production, marketing, sales. No sane business person starts on marketing and sales (despite pressure from those departments) until you are sure about what you are going to deliver and when.

The Sussexes have done a lot of marketing and sales but there is no product, no plan for deliverables. Then I realized why ... in their fabulousness beyond anything the world has ever seen, they are the product.

They ambush Zoom meetings (secret), get a gushing response (I can't believe it ..., Oh My God!), and then leave. Planning ahead would enable those organizations to use the 'visit' for marketing (get the message across and attract a much bigger audience and maybe even organize a special marketing/sales event).

The same for their 'volunteer' work ... they turn up for about 20 minutes, get the photos and then use Scobie or one of their many 'staff' to flood media sites with PR. Once again, by parachuting in for a photo op, the organization is deprived of using the visit for marketing and to drive projects.

Netflix and Spotify fell for the scam and are now trying to justify why they gave them so much money when they do not have a product to sell (they are not even promoting other products for them). Disney, and who knows who else, said no thanks and could have seen through the scam.

They think 50 million people will watch unknown Harry and scattered Megs in the US?! 😂 That is absurd. The ‘drama’ of their ‘story’ doesn’t exist for the large portion of the population. I agree with other posters here that Meghan and Harry do not live in Mudslide Manor. That is the only reasonable conclusion considering the facts. Harry didn’t even have James knock on his door (so James couldn’t see where he lived and snoop around.) it was probably rented for that day to different production.

James knows it’s fishy. Why else make a segment about moving into the Fresh Prince house and have Meghan respond ‘we are finished with moving.’ Bringing attention to the issue, really.

With shiny new baby#2, this makes it irresistible, to kick their merching into high gear.

Just my opinion of course.
@jessica, investigative reporting in the US died some time ago. People are too afraid to rock the boat and potentially lose their job and thus put their family's wellbeing at risk. This Oprah interview will be "like" the Super Bowl? 50 Million people that fascinated?

Well, if that many really are that interested enough to watch, it would 15% of the USA population. Whereas the most recent Super Bowl, down trending from a high in 2015 of 114 million, to 96.4 million. USA population is 328.2 million.

I don't remain convinced of the hype.

Jessica - why American reporters don't do an expose?

Probably because they don't think most Americans would care or consider that it would impact them in their daily lives.

The UK seems very far away, the BRF lead lives which the average American citizen won't see as the Queen does not come over and do her garden parties of any of them, and Diana was a long time ago. People have moved on. They are worried about the crime increasing, job losses, covid, work from home or not, are the kids getting the education they will need to succeed, the crazy weather so even a prince (and his wife) over here seen doing "good deeds" isn't something they are thinking about in how they will live their day to day lives. It just isn't on their horizon. Yes it will be for a few who always think fond thoughts of the UK, her stans but for most, they are a non-event.

And why waste time/effort for something with so little payout for the visibility long term to keep or move up in their job?

Jdubya said…

The fact that M is a nobody. Very few ever heard of her before she married H. she wasn't a famous actress and nobody cared.

the fact the H is a Brit and isn't really that known in the US.

They sure are promoting that interview. It'll be a flop compared to what they are promoting it as. some may tune in for a short time, but they'll get bored quickly and change channels.

I have recently read in several articles that it is a 2 hr special? Thought it was 90 minutes.

The Harkles CHANGED their website’s home page pre-Oprah begfest probably hoping viewers will rush to donate.

They replaced the Diana/young Harry image with one of Megsy as Cousin It handing out sandwiches she didn’t pay for. Stellar.

And, they replaced the petulant “I am my mother’s son” statement with some laughable garbage about their compassion, charitable works and .....”creative activation” (I suppose, money for merching cocktail rings and dresses, oat milk and sobbing biographies, peeing on the Corden show, etc.)...with see DM where commenters are vomming.

A sneak preview, my dears, with my comments:

COMPASSION IN ACTION <— new headline has typo! It is spelled “con-passion” I believe?

“Driving systemic cultural change” <— like, raising plastic dolls as children?

“One act of of compassion at a time”. <— did they mean to say “per year, with photoshop?”

“Through our non-profit work, as well as creative activations...”. <— your warning that they are mixing a lot of something else in their harity drink......like 5% handing out ten sandwiches for ten minutes, 30% cosmetic refreshments, 65% mansion rental/RRover/jets. Give big!

Jdubya nailed it. No American reporter is going to do an expose on H&M because they're not newsworthy. Third-rate celebrities, doing everything possible to stay in the public eye such as paying for a James Corden skit, calling paparazzi to photograph them doing something "nice" but fake--handing out sandwiches, standing solemnly at a cemetery.

I don't pretend to understand the in-breeding with Hollywood PR, but with Corden on CBS (is that right? I don't have TV), Oprah on CBS, shared PR agencies between celebs who say nice things about each other...it's all too pat and cozy to be valid.

On the Diana topic: My cousins all live in England and I remember one was absolutely livid at the waste of money spent on the flowers for her. Acres and acres of cut flowers. My cousin said something along the lines of "just imagine how much a charity could have benefited if everyone had spent their pounds and pence on a donation, instead of a floral tribute."

I've never forgotten that sentiment, as well as her anger at the waste of money. Since then I've been sure to memorialize someone with a donation to an appropriate charity in lieu of flowers that are already dying the split second they are cut.

IMO it's very possible the BP PR doesn't want to divulge PPs diagnosis as a UTI which we know can be quite dangerous for elderly folks, especially the frail. I read PP walked into the hospital unaided. Since he had surgery on his hip and it's infected, I don't know how he could walk safely into hospital. This may also possibly be just PR. He does have a recent history of bladder infections but I suppose BP PR may consider that undignified.

RE: Lady Colin Campbell

I think her sources are impeccable. She has a history of such as a Royal biographer and she is diligent to not say anything that would create a legal hoo haw. I agree her vids are too long but that last one where she rips Megan to shreds was so fun to watch I didn't feel the burn on the length.

I too think something is going on with her hosts. Leo was fabulous! Gorgeous, Princely, fashionable, and very in tune to her wants on camera. Her son is not in the same league ( more the Rugby type!) but was doing fantastic. I have seen her clips from Get me Out of Here and her reno of Castle Goring. She can be very difficult but since I don't have to live with her, I find her a real badass vs. a pain in the ass. No one can disembowel someone like LCC. She is the master and as I've said before, the Queen of Analogies. I love how she chameleons in and out of decorum and bawdry. She's quite a character. No offense by this but she too is a Leo and though I don't think she's a narc, I think she may have picked up some tendencies in her childhood environment.

The narc rage woman I worked with, which I mentioned in the last thread is a Leo. She's just like La Markle. That's easy to spot but covert narc behavior not so much. I have never met a Leo woman to date that is not powerful in some way. Leo's are amazing people but need lots of attention. Perhaps LCC felt Leo, her original host, was getting too much attention away from her. Misha her son may just feel he needs a break from mum. Very natural for a young man his age. Especially for one as high maintenance as LCC.

I think the last thing she wants is to permanently offend the RF. I have a suspicion that they use her on occasion to put info out there but that's just my opinion. Especially now with the Haz$Hag debacle. I think she's considered an ally by BP insiders.

At 99 yrs old PP can still order Charles to his bedside. And make him feel like crying. I feel the topics were mostly regarding the traitor grandson & grifter wife. I also feel PP was making it clear neither were to attend his funeral. Or anything officially royal or public events. Like Andrew the markles have been fired.

Wouldn't it be uplifting to see Will's wearing "that" awesome scarf again? And the awesomeness of Camilla's remark hit the bullseye.

Does "good king harry" think Uncle David was successful after leaving RF? Do they think they should get money for life like he received? Do they think he should have come to America?

American's love their sports and cannot wait to get back to the social gatherings. Get together to watch and tail gate parties, attending games in person have been put on hold for long time. Watching major sport game or watching a has been talk showhost with boring unknown wanna be's.

We expected that they would pull a big stunt for Commonwealth. Is Oprah ok with the timing? Is she paying them back for wedding invite & then cutting her future ties? Does Oprah see they are poisonous at this point? Or is this Oprah getting revenge for Charles refusing to a interview & Fergie not dishing of RD? Wow let's get Charles son & his wife who have no problem dishing. Narc revenge for all.
@ Mischief Girl commented about `flowers that are already dying the split second they are cut.'

Art history again - in a sense, that was the point about cut flowers for funerals. They've been symbols of mortality for centuries. Flower paintings began as reminders that we `blossom and flourish like leaves on trees, then wither and perish...' It's `vanity' as in `emptiness'. Look at all the little creepy crawlies in Dutch flower paintings, symbols of Death and Resurrection.

In Britain, we aren't great buyers of cut flowers so florists depend on Valentine's Day and Mothering Sunday to keep them solvent - they must have thought that both had come at once! Other sections of the retail economy suffered that week because so many stayed at home feeling miserable. My friends who take cut flowers from their gardens to the Country Market said that the Market as whole did badly that week and they had to take their unsold flowers home, which is unheard of.

Diana's flowers themselves went to a good cause - composted along with the Household Cavalry dung to maintain fertility at Kew Gardens!

What irritated me was the amount of cellophane that such tributes carry these days, especially when people leave them in memory of the departed at makeshift roadside shrines. They are also the bane of the lives of Park Rangers who have to clear them up from the wild places, the mountains and moors, or along the Coastal Paths, where they are nothing but unsightly litter, dangerous plastic for the animals that roam such places.

I suppose it helps people in their own grieving in that it's something they can do; I just wish they'd take the miserable remains away themselves, not leave them for someone else to clear up.

Yes, they could have given the money to a charity that Diana supported, though I do wonder what those who contributed to her memorial fund now think.

Thanks for the historical information re: cut flowers. I didn't know any of that and it makes sense. I have a black thumb and so I avoid anything plant-based as a home or yard decoration as much as I can. You're right about the cellophane being nothing more than litter and a danger to the animals.

I wonder what did happen to the funds donated to the Princess Diana Memorial Fund? Have they ever been distributed? Is it an on-going organization that William (and used-to-be Harry) oversee, or is the money gone and the charity nothing more than a memory? I can look it up easily enough, but if someone knows of the top of their head, feel free to chime in!

@Mischief Girl,

The Diana Memorial Fund was closed in 2012 and remaining funds turned over to the Royal Foundation that now owns the name. When the Royal Foundation was split that money was split between the Royal Foundation and Sussex Royal/Travalyst. There was an investigation launched because of possible improprieties. Travalyst isn't a charity, for example.) Nothing else heard about that so far as I know. Will said appropriate things about letting the process play out; Harry blew up along the lines of "how dare anyone question me." That's it in a nutshell as far as I can recall.

My son is *very* bad at picking women. He has this rescue complex about galloping in and saving women from the consequences of their bad decisions. I try to stay out of his crash and burn relationships except to occasionally remark that renting a companion would be ever so much less expensive than giving his fallen princess all of his household goods every couple years. Prince Charming can't save Gutterella no matter how hard he tries.

With that being said, if (really a matter of when) son's current/soon to be ex-wife dies, I'd not be invited to the funeral because I'd stand up and start singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!" with witch being spelled with a b. It would be hard for me not to grab her out of her coffin, drag her decaying body around by her hair, and maybe kick her a few times before lighting her on fire. Then I'd bless her heart because she always did like to light up a room.

I am, however, on very good terms with his first ex-wife and her husband and kids.

I hate drug addicts, I hate liars who lie about everything, and I hate child abusers who physically and mentally abuse children. I hate lying child-abusing drug addicts most of all. Her (current wife's) children have begged son not to make them go with Momma and not to let Momma take them. I don't know what will happen to them when the divorce goes through, though, poor kids.

The old Routemasters were withdrawn from regular service in December 2005. Harry must have been on a new one if he imitated the driver within earshot of him as the drivers, as you said, were separated from the passengers. Although Diana was curious, Harry carried on. There are very few old Routemasters left in London and it's always a pleasure to ride on one.

DM says:

The Duke of Wellington's youngest son Lord Frederick Wellesley is set to marry a bomb disposal expert who served in Iraq with the Royal Engineers.

Lord Frederick, 28, who is the godson of Prince Charles and a direct descendant of the 'Iron Duke' who masterminded victory over Napoleon at Waterloo, is engaged to fellow soldier Katie Lambert, 28.

Their engagement was confirmed by a notice in the Telegraph on Thursday.

Maybe Lord Frederick can work with Anne, or whoever picks up Harry's former military titles? Help a little? Seems solid.

@xxxxx,

I agree with you -- they are doubling down on their game, and will continue to be a problem.

But I tend to think they are sinking in terms of mattering, and even if the Oprah program gives them a quick publicity kick, they are really too good at sinking their own ships. They failed to land a winning punch and are just popping up with little slaps. William will scarf them off. Charles, who knows. I feel sometimes like Charles is wandering in a sort of Lala land at this point. They let Charles enjoy the books and the garden, and William takes care of business.
WBBM. So Harry was a little sh** even then. What was it the Jesuits said about the boy at seven?? I have not seen the BBC Gaelic programmes and you haven't really sold them to me either!

One more lapse into Scots vernacular and then I'll revert to the Queen's English.I heard of a primary school teacher in a Glasgow school who had a very hard time convincing her primary 1 class that the words to sing in the nativity play were actually "away in a manger" rather than "a wean in a manger".

Ah yes, Maneki Neko - thanks for the date. The old Routemaster, sigh! The EU regs. did for them because of the open platform - it gave essential ventilation though. Where I live now, the locals won't open windows, preferring to be like frogs being brought to the boil in warm water. I've nearly been thumped a couple of times for daring to open a window.

Actually, tell your pesky locals that it is absolutely recommended that one opens windows --

https://elemental.medium.com/the-germ-cleaning-power-of-an-open-window-a0ea832934ce

This article says in part:

In the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, public health officials in the U.S. are increasingly trumpeting the benefits of open windows and fresh air. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends opening windows to reduce the spread of coronaviruses, and state health departments are encouraging the same measures to slow the transmission of Covid-19, specifically.

“Changing the room air is a widely used measure for infection prevention and control,” says Stephen Morse, an infectious disease researcher and professor of epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. “It replaces any virus-contaminated air with clean air.” Opening windows is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to encourage this type of air turnover, he says.

@AnT - I haven't been on a bus for well over a year. 4 trips to nearest city by car (10 miles) for hospital appointments and 1 x 13 miles, before the current lock-down, to a local orchard for a box of apples and some excellent dry cider that I'm drinking now to accompany a slice of fruit cake with Cheddar cheese - a bit of weekend naughtiness. @Wild Boar Battle-maid,

mmmmmmm your dry cider, fruit cake and Cheddar treat sounds absolutely delightful! I am about to start baking some simple fruit tarts for Mr AnT, as the rain falls here. I have turned into quite a "what do we have to work with" baker over the last year, hit or miss, making it up sometimes, and it's fun.

Haven't been on a bus, plane or in a taxi for a year. I can drive for errands, but we are also near a square with small family grocer, baker, fish and meat shops, book shop etc and I decided to keep walking there to support them with most of our shopping during all this.

We also live by a large park and public garden, so have being doing a lot of walking too, while working from home. Really seem to notice the birds, plant life, trees more than I used to...have you noticed this yourself?
World is smaller, but maybe we are also finding ways to enjoy the simpler things a little more. We have a few deer that live in the woods in the large-acreage parks by us, and two have been coming to our garden the last couple of years to nap, drink from our birdbaths and shelter from the noise. The neighborhood welcomes them as we have a tiny park hidden among our houses and everyone outfits a winter food table for them. Our lively old 18 yr old Maine Coon was friends with one doe for her last three years.....she would see it from a window or her nap spot in our flower beds, and eagerly go to it it would walk up to her with a fawn or two in tow. The doe would lower its head and they would touch noses and then, the two old friends would go lie down together under a tree or in the sun. The doe and her newest fawns still show up for winter apples and nuts and to say hello daily. Things like this have meant even more now.

AndI agree -- Nutty's international forum here has been a saving grace and source of fun during this strange and difficult year!

Blind Item #6
As part of a side deal, the ginger haired one had to agree to not exploit images of family members for any for profit ventures or ventures that appeared to be for profit.
@AnT-

Thank you so much for the link to the film about becoming a clippie - that's exactly as it would have been for Mum. She was with the green London Country buses out of St Albans garage, mainly going to Hertford, past de Havilland's at Hatfield, hence getting strafed by Jerry.

She volunteered for that work so she wasn't `directed' into munitions.

I disgraced myself, aged about 18 months- 2yrs, on the no 84, coming back from my aunt's in Muswell Hill. I should have been sitting quietly on Mum's lap but there was a woman in a fur coat in the seat in front, and I started stroking her, saying `Nice Pussy, nice Pussy.' I then got my fingers entangled in the veiling on her hat and, once freed, began to climb up the vertical pole joining back of seat to roof. I don't remember any more than that.

Just think, ladies in fur coats and hats with veils, riding on a double-decker bus... She must have taken it in good heart though.

A few years ago, we were visiting some chilly show caves so I wore my dark brown, soft kid-leather gloves. Standing listening to the guide, I felt my hand being stroked. There was child behind me, looking at my gloved hand , then with intense puzzlement at my very pink-and-white face, then back at my hand. Poor little soul, she was very confused.

I think the cider's got to me, so I'll take a break.

PLEASE tell me you’ve read the funny and poignant books of Barbra Pym? Her wartime memories that lace her stories, the styles, the coats and hats, the cityscapes of a service in a half-bombed London church? Anonymoushouseplantfan & one of her posters apparently think the Oprah interview might be a disaster for the Harkles, based on past performance. I haven't watched Oprah enough to assess her personality or interview methods, but from what little I know about her, she'll do an interview which primarily helps Oprah.

(sic)Anonymous asked:

I see sugars romanticizing their departure and now the upcoming Oprah interview. They think Harry and MM are bound for billionaire status and all I want to tell them is the best predictor of the future is history. The situation would have looked more promising if they’d both been incredibly successful outside of TRF; say if MM was a top talented box office actor and established philanthropist or if Harry had managed to stay in the army and grow further up the ranks on his own merit, but man, they’re neither. I’ll also just add that when Oprah says this is her “best one yet,” I feel like it’s a death sentence. She said the same thing about MJ and Whitney Houston’s interviews.

Has there ever been a “big” Oprah interview that ended well for the interviewees? I’m reading this list the Independent did, and I think the Obama one was the only one that wasn’t a complete train wreck for the subject.

You too? I love it! Finding a fellow a Pym fan delights me! Yes, I agree wholeheartedly—Pym absolutely was the modern-day Austen, another of my favorite writers. Pym’s wry humor, turn of phrase and ability to go into her characters were stunning. My favorites are Excellent Women, Jane and Prudence, and Less Than Angels. Which are yours?

Viola on No Fiond Return of Love is probably the most Megs-like of her characters, in a way, but without the emotional potential for Viola’s happier end. I would have loved to know what Austen would have made of Megs!

My copies are worse for wear at this point, having been through mother and aunts, friends and me, so anytime I see one available on Amazon or by a private seller, I try to grab it. I love her work that much.

Megs does deserve a satirist, though, even though she herself seems to have no sense of humor whatsoever.

@Ant, sorry didn't reply to your question on my favorite Pyms, (Pimm's is a favorite of mine as well, LOL.) I have a fondness for Jane & Prudence, A Few Green Leaves & A Glass of Blessings. I spent my late teens & early twenties in Hawaii, which was/is a gay haven, & had lots of male gay friends. I was amused that the heroine of A Glass of Blessings was so oblivious to her young male friend's orientation. A much, much more innocent age, unlike our present one, in which, apparently, a royal & his spouse attach words with obscene undertones to their young child in public interviews. Unbelievable. I hope it's not true, but then we all recall Megs & her bananas, & the Harkle obsession with elimination of bodily fluids. I don't care what people do in private, as long as it's legal & doesn't involve abuse of another being, but even I know the meaning of TMI. Quit oversharing, millennials! Grow up Harkles! I also really cannot believe how ridiculous the Harkles are at this point, with their crude word references to mock the public, and childishly self-obsessed lifestyle. Having to be told not to life off his mother’s images, and Royal imagery in general.... These two are zeros with else nothing to offer.

My hair has been mostly short as an adult and now that I can put it in a decent pony tail, I found my hair is the same shape and has the same loose waves in the same places as I had when I was 5 years old. It surprised me. Different color, of course.

Anyway, thanks to everyone, again.

At first I thought she was heading for a Kim K look. Then I thought is she trying to go for Hedi Fliess look. Thought wow, that business was a fountain of money, contacts & power in HW. With her yatching background it would be possible to work. And of course SoHo house works with this business.

Heidi was major madam with a black book of clients who shook in their boots in fear when she was arrested. I can see this as emergency backup business plan.

I thought what if the big reveal is admitting Archie's not real? Of course it was because it wasn't safe to have a baby in "toxicity" of the UK. Or the other crap they repeat non stop. Maybe the IVF finally worked. It does look like she's repeating the pregnancy crap again. Different bellies, using clothes to hide etc. I doubt anyone would perform plastic work on a real pregnant woman.

Well I need my nausea meds after seeing one promo. If I can remember, I will watch so others who don't have nausea meds can be spared.

She's totally going for the Diana Panorama look, with the heavy black eyeliner stuff, and the black and white clothing. Diana wore a white shirt w/black jacket for the interview, and now MM is wearing a black dress with white bird sh-t down the shoulder. She even tries to match the facial expressions, like with her eyes. Unbelievable. What a psychopath. The 7th is going to be a field day. When is someone actually going to challenge her lying bs to her face?

Thanks for the info on Gwenyth P and Goop blowing off Markle. I wonder how rejection works with her type of Narc? I think she is an extremely vain person who does not have any problems with low self-esteem. So does she just get angry and angrier? At what point will she finally admit after constant rejection that the fault must LIE WITH HER?? When will she GO AWAY?🤣

@ JennS: Narcs generally do not handle rejection very well. Yes, she is extremely vain, which often partners up with low self esteem. Narcissists are usually very occupied with maintaining their appearance. It is part of the facade they create to hide the emptiness inside them.

They combine the shiny outer shell with whichever personality they happen to need at the moment. They are very practiced chameleons who morph into whatever personality they need to advance their agenda, much the way Meghan portrayed herself to Harry as the reincarnation of his mother. The personalities they create, often called masks, are only temporary, as the narc is eventually unmasked and their true nature, which reveals an angry, shallow, vindictive, thin-skinned, greedy, mean, materialistic con artist who refuse to take responsibility for the wreckage left in their wake, instead preferring to play the victim.

@NeutralObserver & all Barbara Pym fans on this blog.

I'm a big fan also of Barbara Pym Have ead all her books too.
Sourced them all from everywhere but unfortunately have now passed them all on .
Went to an exhibition of her life in Oxford BodleianLibary in 2013

Also visited (stalked ) her homes in Oxford & London

There is (as you all may well know) a Barbara Pym society

https://barbara-pym.org/

We are an international literary society devoted to the 20th century English novelist Barbara Pym, shrewd observer of a certain kind of middle-class Englishwoman, no longer young and not quite beautiful, whom society finds it easy to overlook. She is just as shrewd an observer of the people that these women, vigilant and perceptive, themselves observe.

The spinster heroine of Excellent Women, Pym’s most famous novel, says, “I suppose an unmarried woman just over 30, who lives alone and has no apparent ties, must expect to find herself involved or interested in other people’s business, and if she is a clergyman’s daughter then one might really say that there is no hope for her.”

The Society holds its Annual General Meeting at St. Hilda's College, Oxford University, every summer and also holds a conference in Boston, MA every spring, a spring meeting in London, and other events. Our newsletter, Green Leaves, is published

Barbara Pym and the Bodleian

A display at the Bodleian Library, 9 November - 8 December 2013

The novelist Barbara Pym (1913-1980) wrote 'the finest examples of high comedy to have appeared in England during the past 75 years' (Lord David Cecil, 1977). As a student at St Hilda's College in the 1930s, she studied and socialized in the Bodleian, which features in many of her early works and in later correspondence with the poet Philip Larkin. After her death her sister, Hilary Walton, donated her literary papers to the Bodleian. This display celebrates Pym's involvement with the Library and the richness of the Pym papers held by it.

@glumdalclitch,

Yes! Harry's white shirt. It looks like he's pregnant, too. I'd been reading about MM's dress looking like a seagull pooped on her shoulder, and when I finally saw the clip, that's exactly what it looks like.

Oprah is using reverse psychology by dressing down for the interview. The Harkles attempted to dress up, but Oprah is as casual as can be. That's a silent sign that she's the leader there, not the Harkles. It's an "I'm not impressed with you. I'm in charge, and you're not worth my time getting dressed up' move.

@JocelynsBellinis
I can believe that.
I thought it weird that the interviewer and the interviewees' wardrobes seemed so opposite. Markle is way too overdressed in her $4700 designer number.
But Oprah is too underdressed for what she called her best interview EVA!
It's weird that MM is dressed royal-Duchess-style while complaining about being in the royal family. They are sitting outdoors. She should have dialed it down a notch or two.
I wonder if there has been less editing than expected?

Suggestion: if it's on ITV here, it may be broken up by commercials - although they usually show big Royal events without them. Otherwise, reruns of old dramas such as `Foyles Law' on ITV3 extend the prog. by 5mins per hour. 30mins on 90mins does sound excessive though.

I was already wondering if it would be broken up by ads, in which case, look for the choice of ads and see if there's a message there - apart from learning who's prepared to pay big bucks for a place.

------

Yes, that dress looks as if she's been hiding out in St Ives. Daphne Du Maurier called the gulls `Cornish assassins'. Could she have been lurking anywhere other than California? Without the wig, bronzer or bump, would she be recognised?

-------

My husband reckons H's eyes are getting closer to together - says H reminds him of a raccoon now. I can see what he means, too. We'll record it and watch later.

Thank you, Happy Days. This is the very best description of how narcissists conceal their inner void that I've ever come across. They seem to become the person their target needs. All false, of course.
Well, the interview isn't going to get the reception they are wanting.

First off, we have a grown, extremely privileged man whining in America. Americans do not like this.

Secondly, he is not whining about anything real. He's whining about his perceived paranoia (mental issues) caused by bad press, while having moved to a paparazzi hotspot as his solution? And going on Oprah to do a worldwide exclusive interview? Surely anyone with an IQ above 10 can understand the lack of integrity here.

Third, if enough people in the comments bash their sob story narrative I really don't understand how they expect to turn public opinion. They must have been low on cash and publicity.

Fourth, I barely see any coverage of them at all nowadays. Must be really harmful to Megs ego.

Fifth, we have to remember, in their manifesto the only thing they craved was 'financial independence'.
Their overdressing for a garden chat looks socially inept.

That may be part of it. But also the snippets are likely part of the international marketing scheme and a reaction to the CW program occurring in the same day as the eventual broadcast.
As for coverage on the day of the broadcast- The NBA All-Star Game is on at the same time. Luka Doncic and Lebron James will be playing together, along with James Harden. Arguably the best basketball players of this generation. There is a lot of buzz around Luka (21 years old) being and becoming one of the all-time greats.

The point is Meghan will be competing for screen attention against bonafide celebrities putting their skill to use, live. This game will dominate Twitter chat.

WTF indeed! Meghan took every opportunity to push Harry aside and give a speech, and being married to him and with the status the BRF gave her, she had a global audience.

As for that comment about Diana being alone! It's crazy! Separation and divorce are usually difficult and that of his parents was so public, but Diana was never alone.

The Harkles chose separation and divorce and chose to make it a toxic war.

Diana did not ghost her family, friends and the British people. She had relationships with lovers. She was active in going out and continued public service (the real thing). Besides, Charles has always been a busy man so I doubt that him and Diana were joined at the hip during their marriage.

Harry is isolated and alone because his wife engineered this. His mother was never in that position.

Thanks for that Sandie.

Death is inevitable, of course, none of us `gets out of here alive'. I hope, though, from a `political' viewpoint point, that he doesn't die before the 7th, or the interview will only be postponed, here - if not elsewhere. If he is critical, let's hope he can survive another week and confound the b*ggers in LA - I'm sure he has the determination to do it. I think we can assume he'd want to be by HM's side when the Sharkles come in for the kill, assuming that it was him that was released.

Whenever he dies, I imagine it could be the most difficult thing the Queen has ever had to cope with.

So, Prince Philip, sir, just keep b*ggering on! We're all behind you!

(btw, my 1st husband died 6 years ago, aged 74, from aggressive prostate cancer, and was allowed home for the end because there was nothing else the hospital could do to help. He survived a while and it gave his family precious time with him. It was a very gracious thing to do. So it's possible that it was PP who was discharged - let's keep everything crossed.

And I gather `The Crown' did well at the Golden Globes - pity)

I realised I was quite possibly mistaken as to the bus and so it was. How I loved the old route masters for from the age of five and for some years thereafter I went to school on them. This is what I did: as the bus was approaching the stop I would hang on to the pole with one leg dangling in the air out over the road. The Conductor never stopped me even though I was certainly doing that from my earliest schooling. Then aged five I would walk the not inconsiderable distance to my home - alone. Years later I represented a bereaved husband in Coroner's Court whose wife had died when she had fallen from the said platform of a routemaster on to the road. There is still - at least very recently - an open door Number 9 routemaster which runs from the Albert Hall up to St Paul's - and back. I love taking that bus - in either direction from Charing X.

My Mother always insisted that small boy that I was if the bus was full I had to give up my seat for any woman. Men still do that on the train, I observe. What do my American cousins think of that piece of rampant chauvinistic sexism! What I liked best about the bus was the conductor and the coloured tickets he gave out which he would clip with a ping. Loved that. I was recently watching one of the old 'Doctor' films where there is a scene with Bogarde on the bus and the conductor 'clings' a ticket. Bruce Montgomery (the composer) has the triangle give a beat in the score at the very moment of the cling. If one is not looking for it one naturally assumes it is the ticket machine. There are I suppose many pleasure in life that come from not being a Royal Prince.

@swamp woman

You have my sympathy. Like your son I and so many other men always choose the wrong woman. As my Mother told me: 'Women have always caused you trouble - AND THEY ALWAYS WILL'. Thanks Mum (for the vote of confidence).

Barts is the oldest hospital in London, founded 1123 by Rahere, who seems to have been quite a character, certainly a monk, said to have been a court jester. Nice one.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Bartholomew%27s_Hospital

See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Bartholomew-the-Great , for the story of the founding of the Priory of which the hospital was part.

The church was founded in 1123 by Rahere, a prebendary of St Paul's Cathedral and an Augustinian canon regular. While in Italy, he had a dream that a winged beast came and transported him to a high place, then relayed a message from "the High Trinity and...the court of Heaven" that he was to erect a church in the London suburb of Smithfield.[4] Rahere travelled to London and was informed that the area in his vision—then a small cemetery—was royal property, and that nothing could be built upon it. Henry I, however, granted the title of the land to Rahere after he explained his divine message.

So, the hospital has almost 900 years of history, another reminder of how deep our recorded history runs.

The Royal Family has always been silent on their personal matters. Harry knew of the family's never complain never explain motto. Surely he has shared this with Meghan while they were dating. It's not as if the Royal Family created this special set of rules specifically for Meghan to silence her and make her life unsurvivable. The media intrusion or pressures Markle is complaining about is not just reserved for her. Camilla and Kate were also treated harshly by the press. In fact, they were treated worse than how Meghan was treated. Meghan was initially warmly welcomed by the British press and people. That is until she started showing her real personality disrespecting the Royal Family and acting all important.
Opus - the secret of jumping off a moving bus is to the face the way the bus is going and start running as you hit the ground, slowing gradually. Facing the pavement or even backwards, as you have seen, can be fatal.

Funny how we've arrived at talking about `hitting the ground running' in a literal sensed. Perhaps MM should have been taken at her word and asked to demonstrate it from a Routemaster!

It's not so long since I boarded a Tube train with a flying leap (well, the doors were about to close) much to the astonishment of the passengers. OAPs don't usually do that sort of thing (I was only 70, after all)

It's not just kids who behave badly on buses. Stop me if I've told this story: I was on the `pew seat' just inside the door, riding down Tottenham Court Rd once. The Corny Corden And Hooey Harry Show

lizzie said…
I know Sussex fans are often nuts. Given who they worship, I guess that's unavoidable. But out of curiosity I looked at Omid's twitter and I was shocked. Tons of comments that the PP story was put out just to distract from H&M's positive press and their twitter trending. Some think PP is not even sick, others think he might be but much of it is to distract and he'll be moved again closer to the O show just to distract further. A few even think if it comes down to "pulling the plug" it will be done right before Oprah.

You'd think Harry would be more bothered by that sort of thing (along with fans wanting to kill his brother's entire family) than criticism of his wife's clothes. Heck, you'd think even Scobie would be a little nervous to have such delusional followers.
Menki Neko:

In St.Albans, coming through Fleetville, there was joker who always called out `Dead Centre!' as the bus approached the cemetery.

--------

Mum's driver used to complain at the end of shift if it had been a slow journey, picking up or setting at every stop,

`Well, Girl, it was like a being a dog tonight, wasn't it? Stopping at every bleedin' lamp post.'

.....

And going to my grammar school in another town, one conductor shouted `Glamour School' as we approached. Bit obvious really.

That's how ordinary people lived. H didn't realise that humour was best left to the conductor.
Eventually Meghan and Harry will have to speak out against their 100 hateful manipulated stan group, one way or another. Otherwise, it will backfire.

It would be easy to go through and calculate their Sussex follower bot groups, paid followers, and write a tidbit on how they feed the system they condemn. Once someone does this, all bets are off for a persona revival.

Their actual followers in the human form are a really nasty character-less group of people. They've found their dear leaders in Meghan and Harry. Try having an educated discussion with any of them. You can't.

@Sylvia,

I too love Barbara Pym. Her gentle, unassuming novels offer wonderful vignettes of women whom mainstream novelists often overlook. Her writing is uniquely English especially in its settings, but her themes are universal: the lonliness of single women, unrequited love, men taking the sacrifices women make for granted. Pym could also be very modern at times like the way she wrote about a gay man with matter-of-fact awareness and zero judgment. Excellent Women, Jane and Prudence and A Glass of Blessings are ones I re-read but the book that touched me was Autumn Quartet, a unsparing look into the darker side of being single and sliding into old age. It was shortlisted for the Booker Prize.

Thanks for the info about the Barbara Pym Society.

Surely they can afford some new light gray socks and at least black shoes, if not gray ones? And a shirt that fits. Brown shoes with a light gray suit is just a no. Stylish this man is not.

Not what one expects from a prince, to look so shabby. He reminds me of a soot covered Cinderella. Or a hobo. He's only missing the bag of belongings on a stick slung over his shoulder.

She is looking much older than her years. Apparently a whole new face. Looks nothing like the face we just saw in the lemon dress video from a few weeks ago.

She is wearing an expensive black and white dress that does nothing for her. It ages her by decades. Of course she cups her pregnancy throughout.

She is sitting all regal-like, back straight, neck elongated. She looks like an elderly dowager. Somebody's aunt.

Harry looks like a poor dude who can't afford clothes that fit, has outgrown his clothes but can't afford new ones. She looks like his elderly aunt who is having gas pains. Or maybe a gallbladder attack.

We've seen that kind of vibe before , where he looks like a teenager/young adult and she looks like his mom or much older sister. I wonder why they do that when what they're trying to sell is young star-crossed lovers.

Below are some quotes from Anonymoushousplantfan, which is a site that seems to have a lot of posters in the Harkles' age bracket, not necessarily British, or even English speaking, but who have experience in pr, branding, advertising, media, etc. A lot of the posts are pretty neutral, but view the Harkles in terms of how successful they think are in branding themselves. Apparently, many aren't impressed. If reposting these quotes are a problem for this website, please delete this comment.

So no new shoes for Harry

Hey, eyeliner ain’t cheap. You gotta cut corners somewhere.

Oprah is really a piece of work

This is her job. She puts on a pleasant front, but she wouldn’t be where she is without a healthy streak of ruthlessness.

The Kardashians have never turned on each other, warts and all. Kim rode Kanye to mainstream fame but she never isolated him from his friends or stopped him from doing what he likes. If Kim had been the one marrying Harry, she would have made a giant show out of getting a fat father fitter for the wedding and wheeling the disabled sister around London. It would have been Jerry Springer but not The Truman Show that Meg dragged Harry into with her fake friends.

Not caught up on the interview yet (and not watching to give it ratings) BUT...Can we talk about how Harry and OW at least look like they showed up to the same event...while MM looks like she was univited from the Golden Globes but decided to wear her black silk nightgown in an interview set in a GARDEN?

It looks so out of place. I hope she switches outfits at some point.
Oprah is going for the 'professor grandma intellectual I-know-things' look.

It's interesting that a big part of Oprah's history had many admitted co-dependent relationships. She used to find her worth through men. She's very open and honest about how bad it was for her. Maybe she does have empathy for Harry and sees this in him, too. It goes along with the theory that she is trying to 'Save Harry' to get into forever good graces with the BRF.

Is This the REAL THING THIS TIME? or is this just stringing people along?

Recently there was (yet another) post somewhere out in the world about how they will soon divorce.  And my first thought was: Haven't I heard this before?  which moved quickly to: how many times have I heard this (through the years)? There were a number of questions raised which ... I don't know.  I'm not a lawyer.  One of the points which has been raised is that KC would somehow be shelling out beaucoup money to get her to go "away".  That he has all this money stashed away and can pull it out at a moment's notice.  But does he? He inherited a lot of "stuff" from his mother but ... isn't it a lot of tangible stuff like properties? and with that staff to maintain it and insurance.  Inside said properties is art, antique furniture and other "old stuff" which may be valuable" but ... that kind of thing is subject to the whims and bank accounts of the rarified people who may be interested in it (which is not most of us in terms of bei

A Quiet Interlude

Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event?   Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th?  Oscar's - March 10th?   In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US.  The IRS just never goes away.  Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on).  There's always another one.  Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California.   That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.   Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere.  But.  The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.

Christmas is Coming

The recent post which does mention that the information is speculative and the response got me thinking. It was the one about having them be present at Christmas but must produce the kids. Interesting thought, isn't it? Would they show?  What would we see?  Would there now be photos from the rota?   We often hear of just some rando meeting of rando strangers.  It's odd, isn't it that random strangers just happen to recognize her/them and they have a whole conversation.  Most recently it was from some stranger who raved in some video (link not supplied in the article) that they met and talked and listened to HW talk about her daughter.  There was the requisite comment about HW of how she is/was so kind).  If people are kind, does the world need strangers to tell us (are we that kind of stupid?) or can we come to that conclusion by seeing their kindness in action?  Service. They seem to always be talking about their kids, parenthood and yet, they never seem to have the kids
