"The dramatically titled 'Escaping the Palace' follows 2018 and 2019 films about the duke and duchess of Sussex.
The story of Meghan Markle and Britain's Prince Harry, as told through Lifetime movies, is becoming a trilogy.

The cable network has greenlit a third Harry & Meghan movie, following 2018's Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and 2019's Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal. The third movie, set to begin production later this spring, centers on recent events in the couple's life and carries the dramatic title Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace.

The movie is set to premiere later this year. The announcement of the film comes about 2 1/2 weeks after Meghan and Harry's CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey drew nearly 18 million viewers.

Escaping the Palace, per Lifetime, will "reveal what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie." It also promises to delve into feuds between Meghan and Kate, the duchess of Cambridge and between Harry and his brother William and their father, Prince Charles.

Casting is currently underway. The previous two films had different actors playing the title couple: Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henley in A Royal Romance and Charlie Field and Tiffany Smith in Becoming Royal.

Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss, who executive produced the prior two movies, will do the same on Escaping the Palace. Also returning are writer Scarlett Lacey and director Menhaj Huda. A+E Networks will distribute the movie worldwide."

We did say that we wouldn't mention Iceland again - but...

I started to follow Ms Roth's trail - and located a cv mentioning she'd contributed to The Reykjavik Grapevine back in 2005. (that's an arts/what's on free newspaper)

Here's an article referring to her - though I haven't found the article itself:

Why Music Journalists Aren’t the Absolute Lowest Form of Life… at Least, Why Our Music Journalists Aren’t
By BART CAMERON

As I write this editorial, I am waiting for Christian Hoard of Rolling Stone to return from his second round of concerts in the evening. He left here smiling ear to ear, putting a cigarette back into his mouth after having just coughed up a sizeable amount of discharge, his eyes blood red from an infection compounded by lack of sleep. On the way out the door, he said “Thanks again for this.” And he was serious.

Christian, Bart, Genevieve, and Patricia used vacation from prominent publications to fly thousands of miles and work like dogs for absolutely no pay on two-hour deadlines; this is to say nothing about the ungodly hours that our six other full-time festival journalists, and 35 other employees—most of them temporary—worked to put out a daily magazine for a relatively obscure music
festival.

Why did they do it?

Talking with the range of other journalists and industry people at this year’s festival, I heard more than once that Iceland is hip and full of beautiful people. The world, New York and London want Iceland, I’ve been told.

But anybody who would say something like this could never write for The Grapevine. We’re not huge fans of vague stereotypes and generalizations, and the idea that a whole country can become hip suggests that countries might become unhip—say with a natural catastrophe or economic depression.

Our writers spent time covering the music here because it is viable art, and because the art humanizes a people that are easily overlooked. Returning to Christian Hoard, who has now strolled into my office screaming about Þórír, I should point out that he came to my attention because of his work on The Mountain Goats, a band from that bleeding edge cultural hotspot Ames, Iowa.

Hoard had been able to convey the excitement of listening to John Darnielle’s lyrics—breathing in someone else’s culture, while connecting at a basic human level. And Hoard and all of our writers have hopefully shared their excitement about making these connections in the last few days working here.

One final note: Good riddance to Mr. Blasengame. Being the second best writer named Bart for my own damned paper was flat out humiliating.

(2005 was 2 years before the financial crash which Iceland so badly. )

This seems to indicate that `Genevieve Roth' is real. I find the 4th paragraph very ironic - perhaps it should come back to haunt her. I wonder why it was such a brief stint? Did she put up backs in R'vik?

@ConstantGardener33,

right?????? I've worked with C-suite execs for years, decades. Not one was a stupid lazy empty vessel like Harry. They were degreed in sciences, economics, business. Constant learners, restless geniuses really.

ONE had only a high school degree, but he was a. genius. who was of the Mad Men NYC agency world era, when rags to riches was a. thing, an ad success before he started his hugely successful international company. He was bright, curious, nobody's fool, truly a self-made man who elevated everything he touched and everyone around him.

But, the guy behind BaggerUpsyDaisy is no genius. Just another word spitter.

Oh ladies, here is Genevieve Roth's FIELD GUIDE TO MEN:

https://www.glamour.com/story/your-field-guide-to-guys

Aw, no Princes. But, HERE'S ONE TYPE OF MAN FROM HER GUIDE THAT SHE CAN SHARE WITH HARRY:

The Life Coach

Behavior: Like Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, the Life Coach makes it his personal mission to "improve" the woman he's dating.

Mating Habits: He prefers young and impressionable women, and he takes a mate under his wing using a mixture of hints, tips and passive-aggressive suggestions. Whatever you're doing, this guy knows a much better way to do it.

Field Notes: The Life Coach may seem sophisticated (he might even remind you of that college professor you always had a thing for), but the bottom line is that this dude feeds off controlling you. You're too good for that!

GET AHEAD AT WORK TIPS

WE ARE SO OVER......Life Coaches

"Coaches" of various forms have been bossing us around since gymnastics. And yet when our job went stale and our friend (who already had her own life coach) got promoted-again-we gave in and shelled out the $200 bucks a session to a woman whose qualifications topped out at a bachelor's degree in ocean sciences. She told us to write down our dreams in longhand. Then we got our "new life prescription," which told us to wake up earlier, to stop sneaking Domino's, and that if we could just communicate with our boss more effectively, the promotion would come. We thought, really? Two hundred bucks an hour for someone to tell us to stop ordering pizza? There's got to be a better way to get ahead than this. If not, maybe we'll become life coaches ourselves.

.....OR MAYBE YOU WILL WORK FOR THE INSANE WIFE OF A MAN WORKING FOR LIFE COACHES! wow, the 2021 irony!

@Puds

Damning with faint praise indeed.

INCREDIBLE ATTITUDE

Translation: it defies belief What an arrogant lazy prat this guy is. He turned up an hour late for the meeting surrounded by a bunch of hired girls, informed us that he is a “internationally protected person“ and demanded a pot of tea and some spliffs. We had to Google “Spliff”. Proceeded to pout and slouch in his chair for the rest of the time when told that we really couldn’t supply him pot on company premises, and the only tea we had was decaffeinated green. He played with his phone and giggled hysterically at intervals like a girl while we tried to explain the concept behind the Chief Impact Officer position.

FULL OF ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM

Translation: Harry dozed in his chair at one point. He’s not used to all the tech jargon we were throwing around. Someone accidentally dropped a stack of books near his head and that woke him up. At that point he left and went to the toilet and he was gone a while. The girls went with him. When they got back, there was a huge change in Harry’s energy levels. He was literally bouncing on the conference table. There was a bit of a tense moment When he attempted to pull off the turban of a Sikh employee, shouting Are you a towelhead, mate? We were able to distract him with a vegan cookie and a promotional pair of AirPods with the company logo on them. We told him as gently as possible that that was probably not the kind of impact we were looking for. Somebody put the Lion King up on the projection system and the rest of the meeting was a lot calmer.

If we can channel Harry’s youthful high spirits and passionate advocacy for his values, we think his tenure as Chief Impact Officer will set a unique standard for our industry. It will certainly be an interesting journey for us here at ButterUp.

There was no indication of anything he was specifically referring to on her feed but she does have a pinned thread about jewelry gifted to the British royal family from the Saudi RF!

So I wonder if he's doing more research for an updated piece of MM's suspect earrings? I don't think we've found out what happened to them.

You have all kinds of people going on (virtue signaling) about proudly being anti-racist. By all I mean white, black, brown, Asian, whatever. What anti-racist has turned into is being anti-white. You think white people cannot also be anti-white? That whites do not engage in self-flagellation over racial issues? Wrong! Nutty Genevieve Roth does. Not all the time but half the time.

And Harry, who is from the whitest family on earth is also going to "educate" us. What a hoot!

Among the "perks" of working there are the onsie pajama parties, weekly yoga sessions, hitting punching bags, playing with the office dog "when he's concerned about his wellness", and Harry can bring his two dogs to work with him.

Harry also gets five "inner works" days per year so that he can "focus on personalized growth by hiking in California, reading books or doing volunteer work."
The company also provides games to play for when employees get bored, because the place is designed for both work and play.

ROFL. Well, I do have to wonder about the folks that sit around tables in a restaurant with their friends and significant others, absolutely silent, playing with their phones instead of interacting in the here and now. No situational awareness at all.

I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of my friend's rise to the top(he was C suite at a multi-billion dollar company). We've been buddies since HS. My boss has a spin-off company and I've had a front row seat to that for 10 years now, plus business & strategy lessons from the CEO, I've audited classes at our local top 10 B-school and my dad graduated from Ross. I just can't with those two.

In the larger scheme of this, it’s incredible they don’t realize where they stand on the totem pole of Hollywood.

These companies hire celeb spokespeople. The celeb ‘brand’ and the company brand match up for a mutual beneficial purpose in a period of time. The celeb is normally also promoting something- a film, album, charity, book, or project. What’s the Harkles brand? Then you have to consider that these celebs are picked for 1-3 year contracts. Look at Jenn Anniston and SmartWater, or Oprah and weight watchers. Those partnerships were years long. There aren’t many companies paying millions per year for spokespeople, and there are much more desirable candidates with impeccable personal PR brands that suit the narrative (I.e. NON controversial- thanks Disney!) see George Clooney and Nespresso and Matthew McConnaughey (sp?) with Lincoln. You have all the A-list actors and musicians all the way down to the D- list Jersey Shore/ Geordie Shore people to choose from.

As we are seeing the Harkles don’t have deals with Coke, Doritos, Apple, Facebook, or even basic Celeb promoted Charities.

Tom Bower to write tell all book - will leave no stone unturned

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/14446881/meghan-markle-tell-all-book-biographer-tom-bower/

MEGHAN Markle is to have a tell-all book written about her by Tom Bower, one of the planet's most feared celebrity biographers.

Tom Bower, the man behind Simon Cowell, Philip Green and Bernie Ecclestone's revelatory tomes, has agreed a huge six figure advance.

He will start writing the book next year, spending the next 12 months collating evidence and speaking to the star and husband Prince Harry's friends, foes and associates.

Following several bids, renowned publishers Simon & Schuster, who also published his book on the X Factor mogul, are understood to have bought the rights.

A source said: "This is the book Meghan will be dreading.

"Tom doesn't pull his punches, and is terrifyingly thorough in his research. No stone will be left unturned.

"Tom has previously worked with some of his subjects, and even spent time trailing them, but it has been made perfectly clear to him that this will not be an option with Meghan.

"She wants no part of it. Given the events of recent weeks and months, this book will be dynamite - he reckons this is just the tip of the iceberg, and more will emerge over the next 12 months."

News of the as yet untitled book comes following the controversial publication of their sycophantic "unofficially authorised" biography, Finding Freedom, which was written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand

Gossip cop "debunking" the Globe's article Meghan Brainwashed Harry:
We feel stupid for having to write this, but Prince Harry is not brainwashed. Nor is he alone in California. He was literally just on the Late Late Show with his friend and wedding guest James Corden. In fact, most of the royal couple’s Hollywood friends, like Elton John and George Clooney, knew Prince Harry well before they knew Markle.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1374155/royal-news-meghan-markle-prince-harry-wedding-george-clooney-graham-norton-show-bbc-tv-spt
The writer continued: “She turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan. Ms Johnson explained that Ms Bartholomew was “waiting for the wedding service to start” when she decided to spark conversation with those around her. The writer continued: “She turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan. “‘We don’t’, the Clooneys answered brightly.”

Yeah, Gossip Cop, you should feel stupid! We know you're just another PR rag for the celebrities.

The OW interview is a prime example of what's wrong with the American press. They lied and misrepresented the truth but got no push back from the press here because they weaponized race and hid behind mental illness. They detonating a race bomb and smeared the whole family in the process. By allowing them to make that kind of smear and not name the person, they deny that person the ability to defend themselves and sue them for libel and damages. If there were any integrity in reporting, the person interviewing them should not have aired that part. You don't go there, if you aren't prepared to name the person you allege made the comment. There's nothing funny about what they're getting away with. Facts mean nothing anymore and "debunking" "misinformation" is just more of their propaganda. That Harry is part of an organization meant to counter "misinformation" is positively Orwellian.

Will he be conducting an investigation and would he actually be able to reveal something like the use of a surrogate if that was indeed true? I don't see how any definitive book can be written without addressing that theory as it is such a common belief about her. Just a heads up this is a lengthy read.

Several weeks ago a childhood friend of mine came to our home town to visit. He is an actor. He has studied at Juilliard. He has been on Broadway, movies, and several tv shows. Heck, he has even been nominated for a Tony a couple of years back. I’m going to keep his name anonymous.

I asked him if he has ever met Meghan Markle or know any stories about her.
Well, he has met her and did he have stories.

In 2014 through a connection he had an audition for Suits. He was only going to be on two episodes. He had a reading with several actors. One of them was with MM.
She came off rude, distrustful and any other negative description you can think of. She didn’t like my friend because he was 5’8. And, gave him a hard time. They had a short conversation about his experience. She walked away when he told her that he went to Juilliard. Several days later, he was offered the part. Though the same day he also got offered a part in a Broadway play, which got him a Tony nomination.

His connection he had with Suits was someone who worked with the sound. This gentleman shared many stories with my “friend” about MM.

-What you see from shots from her and the cast members are for the cameras. She treated those who worked behind the cameras with rudeness. Like they were not worthy enough.
-During an interview she talked about how she stood up to the director, producer, and a writer about her skin exposure on screen. Not true. She enjoyed it.
-She does wear hair extensions or/and a wig. For the reasons we all suspect.
-She threw a fit when she wasn’t invited to any award shows.
-She is a regular at SoHo in Malibu and Toronto.
-Any rumor that anyone may have heard about her is more than likely true.
-There were rumors on the set she was pregnant.
Also:
Someone (Meg) tried to buy off/payoff Jess with a Jaguar. A person from Jag said a 105K jag was given to Jess. Jess and Ben denied taking ownership of said car in social media rantings. But, Jaguar stands by its claim.

Buckingham Palace staff are already dining out on a tale of how Meghan’s new girl was calling up big brands and asking for freebies, as if her boss was in the cast of Love Island rather than married to the Queen’s grandson.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And here is a solved 2018 CDAN Blind - revealed as Meghan Markle - regarding the Australian tour and what happened with Melissa.
Note Enty says Melissa threatened to sue. I have been seeing talk of her originally considering a lawsuit a lot lately while reading up on the bullying.
The aide being so upset she wanted to sue and considering this is royal family employment, seems to be an indicator of how bad the harassment was.
Blind Items Revealed #2
November 10, 2018
Apparently the diva behavior on a recent trip was nothing compared to the verbally abusive thrashing the employee took on that trip when things were not perfect. The employee threatened to sue because of how bad the abuse was which would have become public. The employee instead was given a check and an apology by the in-laws of the former actress turned abuser.
Does anybody know if Genevieve Roth related in any way to Lindsey Roth, one of MM's old friends who was at Wimbledon with her when MM had all of the seats cleared out?
In a weird turn of events, the two women at Wimbledon with MM that day have names that add up to "Genevieve Roth."
Lindsay ROTH
GENEVIEVE Hillis.
According to the new article in the DM, ButterUp’s former employees have some quite negative things to say about the company and its management.....
They say on Glassdoor that top management lack empathy for staff, and there is high turnover, poor work-life balance, high rate of burn out, management is too inexperienced, and the place is a sinking ship.
Also H is said to be getting a 7 figure salary.
Found a few discrepancies and inaccuracies in Haz's profile as Commissioner on Information Disorder, so I've rewritten it for him.
Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex*
Member, Aspen Commission on Information Disorder
Co-Founder, Archewell
archewell.com
Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex*, virtue signaller; professional victim; son of Diana, Princess of Wales; grandson of Queen Elizabeth II; sixth in line to the British throne.
As co-founder of Archewell, he is focused on raising awareness around the root causes of some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as quashing the inconvenient truths about himself and his wife that are currently circulating in the online world. He is equally dedicated to pursuing collaborative and substantive—though not necessarily honest and truthful—solutions to address these challenges, including but not limited to lawsuits and the public airing of personal family grievances. The mission at Archewell—which confusingly comprises both non-profit and for-profit entities—is the deeply held belief that money and status are far more important than compassion and caring, although it is essential to publicly embrace the latter whilst privately pursuing the former.
The Duke* has dedicated his life’s work to advancing causes that he is passionate about, such as partying—both naked and in Nazi attire—and cashing in on his mother's legacy by inserting her name into his narrative as often as possible. Through the dedicated efforts of his PR team at Sunshine Sachs, he has fostered opposition, indifference and disconnection among his own family, his wife's family, the people of the United Kingdom, and indeed most decent, honest and hardworking people around the world.
PART 2
He spent the first 10 years of his adulthood serving in the British Army, during which he undertook two tours of duty in Afghanistan where, as a forward air controller and an Apache helicopter pilot, he got to bomb people. His thumbs in particular were well-suited for this role due to their previous experience with PlayStation and Xbox.
Since completing his military service, The Duke* founded and created the globally renowned Invictus Games, after stealing the idea from the USA's Warrior Games. As well as being a platform for wounded service personnel to use sport as part of their rehabilitation, the international event offered the Duke* the opportunity to bed numerous hot young volunteers in several major North American cities. Now that he is busy tending chickens at his mansion in California, the Duke* has no time for a hands-on approach to the Invictus Games, although he remains a patron.
The Duke’s* alleged commitment to environmental stewardship is widely ridiculed. He is well-versed in urging the peasants to repent of their own eco-sins, whilst zipping around the world by private jet and pootling around the California suburbs in a luxury SUV. In 2019, he founded Travalyst, which although meant to be a charity—and receiving a £144,901 grant—has never been registered as such. The grant was, however, put to very good use: it was instrumental in creating an online 19-page report full of lots of tasty word salad. (Sadly, word salad does not come cheap.)
The Duke* enjoys getting "back to basics" in his $15 million, 18,671-square-foot, nine bedroom, 13 full bath, six half-bath mansion, with pool, sauna, chicken coop and fully landscaped & irrigated 7.38-acre grounds, in the exclusive neighbourhood of Montecito, California, with his wife, their son Archie, two dogs and several chickens, all of whom are eternally grateful to have been rescued.
* Although Prince Harry considers his family—the British Royal Family—to be cold, uncaring and racist, he has no problem exploiting his royal titles and privileges at every opportunity, to serve as a reminder to the peasants that he is Special, and they are not.
NB. Contrary to previous advice, please refrain from ever calling His Royal Highness "just Harry".
The confusion about the make of cars, with regard to Jaguar or Land Rover, is understandable. Both are made by the same company, Jaguar Land Rover.
Sadly, both great British brands are now made by a subsidiary of Tata Steel which is Indian.
It is said that the majority of Landies ever made are still on the road, somewhere in the world. Here, enthusiasts take them on and do the work on them themselves, such is the affection they inspire.
re Daniela Elser: She was clearly a full member of the Sussex Sycophant School of Journalism who swallowed the lies without applying her brain.
I don't think think she can quite believe it that it was all bunkum - a crack has appeared in the foundations of everything she's written since huMbug appeared on the scene. She's struggling to reconcile M's acceptance that she told a whopper with what she, Daniela, previous believed - M was the BVM, the Light of the World, born without sin, incapable of anything that was not pure, good and truthful. How could she not tell the truth?
The cognitive dissonance is clanging in Daniela's head - does she see her credibility going down the pan?
What a shame (as SwampWoman would say - `grin!')
My current opinion.
Nice profile on Sophie Winkleman, aka Lady Frederick Windsor, who continued to act professionally in Hollywood after her 2009 wedding to Lord Frederick, a Windsor cousin. She costarred for two seasons on 2 1/2 men as Ashton Kutcher’s girlfriend, before Returning to London in 2013 where she is active in charity for vulnerable children. The couple have two daughters.
https://www.insider.com/two-and-a-half-men-sophie-winkleman-nobody-knew-royal-2021-3
The BRF no doubt had Sophie in mind when the Queen offered Meghan the option of continuing her acting career and living a lower profile Royal life. Meg of course had zero interest, seeing as she wouldn’t have been able to get Princess Perks that way. Sophies costars on the at one time type American sitcom had no idea she was part of the Royal family.
Well timed diss to Princess Pushy of Montecito. Of course Harry’s profile in the Firm Was too high for either of their egos to have Meg return to civilian life as an actress after their splashy wedding. But there was precedent for the Queen’s offer. There was just no precedent for a Markle to marry in. The stunning Lady Sophie was spotted walking with Harry at the wedding of another cousin, Lady Gabriella Windsor in May 2019. He attended solo because Meg was at home with newborn Reborn Archie.
Sophie is Claudia's sister - she of the hair.
I am always very irritated by the Head & Shoulders ads she does!
well PH’s new CIO now makes sense as to why MM suddenly came up with her mental health crisis at the palace and shockingly, not knowing what to do or who to turn to in her hour of need.
With the app , she ws pre-promoting it, it could have saved her!!
the BG blind said they had approached lots of tech firms that last few months. CDAN also had that bling months ago. So if they have been grabbing for quick easy nearly free money from SV the last few months, their Netflix and podcast deals must be terrible. They mut not think they can get their multi millions/ billions from them. or that it will tak to long and they would actually have to work?
Also thats why MM has now moved onto the Dem Donor tour, quick easy money.
Also intersting/ not surprising, that the SV’ers weren’t interested in MM at all, just in PH. After finding out she’s still a B-lister/nothing without PH, there is no way she letting that claw out of him.
1. Tom announced over 2yrs ago that he planned to write a book about Meghan, but that he was then occupied with finishing a book on someone else.
Cue: Meghan PR that she was rather upset at this development.
I've been waiting ever since for him to announce a definitive date for his Meghan book.
As you know, he is unafraid of publishing the warys and all of his subjects and backs up everything with meticulous, verifiable research.
Hopefully we will finally get the unvarnished truth about this charlatan and i hope his book gets the kind of PR push that FF received.
2. After the immediate shock of that interview, it occurred to me that it was actually a brilliantly laid out manifesto in a future divorce because regardless of the accusations and disappointments lobbied at the family, she'd actually laid bare what a useless, callous husband Harry was.
A man with infinite resources who couldn't or wouldn't help his wife prepare, navigate or calibrate her new life. Couldn't even help her with the national anthem!!!
She was at pains to list her disappointments and hurts, and yet she kept pointing out that Harry was right there with her. Being useless.
I was particularly struck by 2 statements wherein she laid the blame on him AND clarified his callousness.
The first was his reaction to being suicidal whereby he took her out to a work event and forced her to sit through it despite copious weeping when the lights dimmed.
The second is at the very end when she says he rescued her and all of them except she says it in a way that the viewer is left in no doubt that it is all his fault.
Harry is therefore to blame for the hell she feels she and Archie suffered, and if her California dream disappoints her, it's still Harry's fault because he took them away from the safety of the family without sufficient resources to protect them and her life is still hell because of him.
Alot of conservative US media have been writing op-eds about this very point too.
I must be missing the obvious - who or what is SV, please?
* she had so much poise and she still had so much class, (referring to her demeanour in the interview after going through such a major ordeal)
* a 'selfless friend' who 'teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble'
*sigh* I fell asleep at my desk last night reading Nutty Flavor Blog, then couldn't fall back asleep in bed. What's up with that? I ended up back in a lazy chair and turned on According2Taz about a possible Catherine pregnancy. I have to say that I watched the video of her in that white coat dress posted here yesterday and I wondered, since she was keeping her hands (and purse) *very* close to her waist as though she were a bit self-conscious of said waist and wanted to keep it hidden (it would be early days). But, alternative explanation, maybe it was cold in there.
I also couldn't believe that I was looking for signs of another Cambridge (but they are so darned cute). How did I turn into this sad person? I blame COVID! Perhaps I should get Harry's App and look into my mental health but then I would have to actually speak to somebody peddling aphorisms as therapy. They would probably tell me something like if I act enthusiastic then I'll be enthusiastic. I would ask them how it felt to work for a boss that wears a onesie like a giant toddler and whether he is, in fact, potty trained, and how valid would mental health advice be from a person with no self respect that worked for somebody with obvious mental health problems, and it would probably deteriorate from there. Hmmmmm. Sounds like my idea of fun. (Must restrain myself.)
Anyway, that is my sad confession. Sorry about the invasion of privacy, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It was kindly meant with only good wishes sent your way for your family's well being.
I shall try to confine my late-night viewing to things like travel videos.
I caught up on Taz last night, too. Here's the link where Taz discusses the Oprah interview travesty and also provides some photos of Catherine that definitely support Taz's theory that C. is expecting Cambridge #4. It was quite noticable, as C. never looks that puffy in her coats or wears them unbelted, except when she's pregnant. I wouldn't expect any official announcement, if there is one, until after Easter. Zara has just had her baby and Charles and Camilla are on tour in Greece.
If C. is pregnant, that is the best possible weapon to deflate Montecito Mugs and her Handbag's latest PR onslaught. A Cambridge baby will neutralize any and everything the Suxxits can devise, including the birth of Meg's next doll.
Serena Williams praises her friend Meghan Markle for handling Oprah interview with 'class' and 'poise' saying she's the 'epitome of strength and confidence' and 'the strongest person she knows'
I'm going to preface this with an acknowledgement that mental health battles are real and for people who struggle with depression and anxiety and other conditions, just getting through a regular day is a feat of inner strength, even when one is supported by medication and therapy--the sufferer is still doing the hard daily work of living. Anybody who's been severely depressed knows that managing daily life with it is like running a marathon on a broken leg. It takes courage not to give into despair.
But this 'epitome of strength and confidence' gave a wobbly-lip interview to Tom Bradby in one of the poorest countries in the world, where out of the range of the cameras, women and children where dying of starvation and disease. She'd been feted all over the country, flown first class and stayed in the most lavish accommodation that could be offered. She was wearing an expensive designer safari-chic dress when she bit her wobbly lip and told Tom that nobody had asked if she was OK.
Where was the courage and confidence then?
Then she sits on a multimillionaire's patio in one of the most exclusive, wealthy cities of the whole country, in more expensive couture fashion and told a global audience of millions that she was too suicidal to be left by herself on the very evening that she preened and bump clutched in another designer frock at the Royal Albert Hall. Harry was the one that looked suicidal that night--after he was audibly booed by the well-heeled crowd.
What tripe! All the Hollywood Narcs are sticking together.
According to the Blind Gossip blind, the Harkles and their team approached multiple companies to pitch themselves as a twosome, but prior to BetterUp, the only place that they were in discussions with wasn’t interested in Meghan, only Harry, which must have been quite a blow to the Duchess, and Harry’s team wanted a whopping ten percent equity in this company, which is preparing to go public, and the only marketable thing he has is his royal title.
The biggest chuckle I had is that after initially demanding the ten percent, his negotiators eventually dropped to one percent, which still could amount to a large chunk of money, but there was no deal.
The people running that unnamed company are miles ahead of the execs at BetterUp, who look incredibly foolish hiring a diminished royal who has more baggage than a 747.
BetterUp hiring Harry is akin to Chase or Coutts hiring Bernie Madoff as their public face for wealth management services.
Hikari - i have to look but i seem to recall when Megs was wearing that sparkly blue dress at Royal Albert, there were boos and as the lights went down they were fighting over holding hands he didnt want to and she kept persisting. We all know she reads here and other places and looks for times she was slighted to give her version but I think the video showed and angry megs I would imagine if you are sobbing (real sobbing not hollywood acting sobbing) you wouldnt be fighting with your husband to get him to hold you hand.
Agree with another poster, she does set up well for a divorce - i went through this, he didnt make it right til i had to insist on leaving and moving to california and it still wasnt enough I was home alone pregnant with a toddler (advanced toddler who is learning latin) and hes off having onesie pj parties at the office with 20 somethings ;-)
SwampWoman - yeah, we are all getting pathetic like that. I was all in a glee over Eugenie's baby pics again yesterday and was hoping we get some Lucas Philip pics too. I fully expect her to out do the Brangelina divorce.
Even the Depp court case.
Harry doesn't have the self-awareness or control to keep it out of the media unless the BRF rides to his rescue. He also won't think to hire the shark-iest of lawyers, but she will.
Inside Prince Harry's happy clappy headquarters: His new firm boasts yoga classes,
punch bags and onesie parties... just don't mention the worker who complained
about 'very inexperienced leaders'
by Barbara Davies for the Daily Mail
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9399487/Inside-Prince-Harrys-happy-clappy-headquarters.html
Having flung himself headlong into the frenetic world of Silicon Valley start-ups, Prince Harry could be forgiven for taking one of the five 'inner work days' allotted to staff by his generous new employer and enjoying some time out to 'completely unplug' and 'self-reflect'.
For the past couple of months, the Prince has been working as 'Chief Impact Officer' at BetterUp, a US-based professional coaching and mental health app.
And while the 36-year-old's brand-new fancy job title and rumoured seven-figure salary have been 'specially crafted' for him by the company's CEO, the fast-paced, cut-throat profession he has entered is not for the faint-hearted.
Fortunately for Harry, when the going gets tough at BetterUp's California HQ, its employees have access to a host of perks and benefits to brighten up their working day.
There's the office dog, Gordo, who hangs around the firm's open-plan, industrial-chic offices in San Francisco, waiting to be petted.
Filled with plants and brightly coloured furniture, the light-filled office features a library kitted out with armchairs and a studio for yoga sessions.
And while naked billiards for which Harry once showed such enthusiasm may not be on offer, there are plenty of board games to help staff unwind.
Now and then, the BetterUp employees even like to dress up and lark around, although Harry would be ill-advised even to think of resurrecting the Nazi uniform he once hired for a party from Maud's Cotswold Costumes in Gloucestershire.
At BetterUp, unicorn onesies are more the order of the day for its super-woke staff. But if all of this fails to put a smile on Harry's face, there's always the office punch bag, which can be used to let out any pent-up tension he may accumulate in the course of his duties.
However so far, according to his new boss, so good. BetterUp co-founder and CEO Alexi Robichaux said this week that he has been 'impressed' with his new recruit's 'incredible attitude' and 'energised' by Harry's 'model of inspiration and impact through action'.
AnT said…
PART TWO
Luckily for Harry, there was no stressful interview process when it came to getting his first job since giving up his royal duties and leaving the UK. He and Robichaux 'crafted' the Prince's new role together after an introduction by an unnamed mutual friend.
The American businessman said this week that Harry is 'helping to change the dialogue around mental health'.
'Bigger than commercial success, this is about global impact,' Robichaux enthused.
'So as we crafted the role together, those four buckets of opportunities, we came to the title "chief impact officer", really denoting that he's focused on our mission and he's focused on ensuring we're doing everything we can to achieve our mission on a larger and grander scale to impact the lives of more people.'
The Prince certainly appears to have happily settled into his role at the company, which claims to use artificial intelligence to deliver personalised coaching sessions designed to nourish 'the whole person'.
The app – dubbed 'life coaching Tinder for millennials' (Tinder being a global online dating forum) – focuses on performance and wellbeing at work and is designed primarily for corporate use as an employee benefit.
Previously, it only sold its services to companies with more than 10,000 employees, although it now allows individuals to sign up, giving them one free coaching session before they are matched with a coach and asked to subscribe.
'Self-optimisation is not about fixing something that's broken,' Harry said in a statement about his new job. 'It's about becoming the best version of ourselves'.
Despite the fact that the company has trumpeted his arrival on its website by describing him as Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, he has humbly requested that his new colleagues address him only by his first name.
AnT said…
PART THREE
And while the company, which has been valued at $1.73billion (£1.2billion) following a $125million investment round, has been accused of wanting to harness his royal profile to promote its product, the Prince has also, apparently, even helped make a business decision.
At a recent strategy meeting to discuss the BetterUp app, Harry is said to have 'recommended that executives frame the tool in terms of resilience and overcoming adversity and setbacks in challenging times'.
A flying professional start, then, for the Eton-educated Duke, who left school at 18 with two A-levels in art and geography and took a gap year before attending Sandhurst then joining the Armed Forces.
Reflecting on his high-flying and lucrative executive business role this week, he said: 'What I've learned in my own life is the power of transforming pain into purpose.' He added that his time in the British military had also taught him that 'we don't just need to build physical resilience but also mental resilience'.
How to achieve that is, without a doubt, becoming the billion-dollar question of the day for every Forbes-listed, Fortune 500 company.
Employee coaching is one of the fastest growing trends in business thanks to a highly demanding generation of millennial workers who now insist on finding meaning, fulfilment and happiness in the workplace.
BetterUp, founded in 2013, provides professional coaching, counselling and mentorship to your mobile phone, and is one of a handful of apps which promise to improve employee happiness, retention and – all importantly – productivity, through counselling and behavioural psychology.
Its 35-year-old co-founder and CEO Robichaux, a former Walt Disney employee and University of Southern California graduate, says he is on a mission to turn self-improvement into a science and 'improve human existence'.
Its network of over 2,000 coaches serves more than 100,000 members and offers coaching services to its own staff, including talks on 'how to beat burnout' and 'build mental fitness'. There are sessions on 'taking bold action for inclusive leadership' and what to do if you want to 'be you at your best'.
According to its own outcome surveys, its confidential, on-demand coaching sessions can reduce stress by 24 per cent. Some companies, says BetterUp, reported increases of performance of up to 26 per cent and a reduction in burnout of 15 per cent.
AnT said…
PART FOUR
All of this comes at a hefty price for companies, including Facebook, Google, NASA, Hilton, Snapchat owner Snap and oil firm Chevron, all of whom use BetterUp's services for their employees.
Corporate access to the app, including virtual classes and coaching sessions, costs around £2,600 per person for 12 months' membership. Those who subscribe can browse options via a Tinder-style swipeable interface and can get access to several specialists dealing with topics such as diversity, inclusion, sleep, nutrition and 'navigating uncertainty'.
New app users are asked to fill out an initial 157-part 'whole person model assessment' with questions ranging from feelings towards colleagues to out-of-work friendships and sleeping habits.
One even asks: 'How much attention do you pay to the ingredients in your food?' Workplace Personality scores are given for qualities such as 'growth mindset', empathy and 'cognitive ability'.
But the app has drawn criticism, too, for not explicitly addressing disabilities such as ADHD and autism and referring more generally instead to 'health and wellness', 'mindfulness' and 'stress'.
Harry himself, however, has given the app his royal seal of approval, describing how he has found working with a 'truly awesome coach' to be 'invaluable'.
He said his coach had given him 'sound advice' and 'a fresh perspective' and, explaining why he was joining BetterUp this week, added that 'focusing on and prioritising our mental fitness unlocks potential and opportunity we never knew we had inside of us'.
AnT said…
PART FIVE
(THE JUICY PART)
But BetterUp is not without its critics. While reviews of the company by current and former employees are generally positive, there is also a significant amount of internal criticism of its workplace ethos, ironically, much of it centring on overwork and burn-out.
Dozens have left anonymous reviews on glassdoor.com, which publishes company ratings and reviews by employees with the aim of increasing workplace transparency.
There are complaints about 'too much ego at the top' and the appointment of 'very inexperienced leaders from a business perspective'. One former unnamed staff member, who spent three years at BetterUp, wrote last month: 'Talks the talk, does NOT walk the walk'.
The employee went on to cite: 'Terrible work-life balance, leadership suffered from a general lack of empathy making it hard to ask for help when you need it. You are encouraged to support the mission and push forward, despite the toll it may have on your mental health. Most people are overworked, burnt out.'
Another former account executive, writing in December, criticised BetterUp for 'favouritism', labelling it the 'CEO Friends Club'.
In a section headed 'advice to management', the ex-employee wrote: 'Reduce favouritism, eliminate people from positions that don't deserve to be there.'
Yet another employee, writing in July, described the company as 'a sinking ship in a blue ocean'.
For the time being, however, Harry is clearly excited about his new job. 'My goal is to lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations,' he said, without explaining how this highfalutin jargon will translate into real-life concrete action.
'We can and will elevate the global conversation around our mental health. What we're doing is equipping people to thrive.'
Thriving is something that is clearly of the utmost importance to the Duke and his wife, who famously said during their 2019 tour of Africa: 'It's not enough to just survive something… you've got to thrive.'
In addition to his new job at BetterUp, it emerged yesterday that Prince Harry has also joined the Aspen Institute, a think tank looking into information and disinformation in the US media. Whether or not both these new roles will bring Harry the fulfilment he has been searching for remains to be seen.
The Sussexes do tend go for TransAtlantic shopping for their lawsuits. I don't know enough about the two countries to judge, but my guess is ...
For divorce and custody, Harry would get a better deal in the UK?
For suing for libel, the US is favourable (e.g. Depp case)?
For copyright, privacy and libel, the UK is the place to go for celebrities as they would get an easy win there?
Serena's a great tennis player, a GOAT and without a doubt Meghan's biggest GET but "grace" and "poise" isn't Serena's brand as witnessed by her courtside behavior when she loses. Oprah, Michelle, Serena...love 'em or hate 'em, they've proven themselves over the decades and are therefore legit power players. Meghan hasn't proven anything and cashed her chips with the Royal Family way too soon. Race politics are now their brand but race politics in the US are extremely divisive and won't garner her more support beyond the 20% of Wokies here, and that's being generous. If Meghan were smart, she would have maneuvered things far differently. They could have left The Family as soon as they wanted with grace and leveraged The Firm's power to promote themselves in the US. It could have been handled so differently and would have possibly put much higher ambitions within their reach. But Meghan is reactive, narcissistic, petty and not half as smart as she thinks she is. The scorched earth policy is counter productive and the public's attention span is very short.
Not just for the future divorce, but for any/all criticism of them. If they were trying to get on to these mental health gigs 3-4 months before the interview, and they wanted H, but not M, she would be holding definite grudges.
so what does she do? Show that she was having mental health issues and H did not help her at all. Left her abandoned. He was too embarassed etc. So now the companies that hired HIM are seeing him in a different light.
Duchess of Sussex donates £10,000 to project tackling poverty and racism
Josh Payne, PA
Thu, 25 March 2021, 4:20 pm
The Duchess of Sussex has donated £10,000 to a community project tackling poverty, racism and social exclusion.
Meghan gave the money to Nottingham charity Himmah with funds from The Royal Foundation.
The community project, based in Gamble Street in the Hyson Green area of the city, provides more than 650 emergency food parcels every month to people across the city, as well as serving more than 60 hot meals every week.
Reacting to the donation, Himmah’s director Sajid Mohammed joked: “For ages I thought the whole thing was a hoax.
“They kept emailing me and ringing me about the donation saying it was from the Duchess of Sussex and I just couldn’t believe it – I was utterly gobsmacked and hugely humbled that Meghan knew about our charity and wanted to support us.
“It’s an absolutely incredible sum and we’re so very grateful.”
The charity said the money from Meghan’s foundation has been put towards stocking the food bank, purchasing equipment and providing vital funds for the Salaam Shalom Kitchen – the only joint Muslim and Jewish community kitchen in the UK.
Karen Worth, co-chair and trustee Salaam Shalom Kitchen, said: “We are so delighted and pleased that Salaam Shalom Kitchen has been noticed and chosen by the Duchess of Sussex.
“The money given to us by her foundation will help to continue our important work in Hyson Green area of Nottingham, which is one the most deprived areas of the city.”
The donation came from funds raised for The Royal Foundation from the sale of Together: Our Community Cookbook and the duchess gifted the money so the charity can “continue transforming lives through the power of cooking and food”.
Ms Worth continued: “Post initial Covid lockdown period we have managed to re-open since start of August.
“Even though our usual venue The Bridge centre remains closed, we are committed to continuing to assist those experiencing food poverty, for whatever reason.
“Every Wednesday, we are outside The Bridge centre, whatever the weather, giving out a hot meal, supermarket donations and a friendly hello to anyone who needs this.
“Initially we were giving out 60 meals each week, this has now increased to 90+ each week.”
Reflecting on the past year for the charity, Mr Mohammed said: “This year has been incredibly tough for a lot of people, we’ve seen a huge increase in uptake for our services since the start of the pandemic.”
It's on Yahoo news.
So, Harry the Invisible had nothing whatsoever to do with it, then?
Lady Bountiful is very selective in her `generosity':
Nottingham 's demographics and religions - from `Wikipedia':
65.4% are White British, 13.1% Asian, 8.2% of West Indian origins, 6.1% are European/North American, 4.3% African, 1.6% Middle Eastern and 1.1% South/Central American. The city's population also has the largest proportion of any UK city identifying as mixed race, at 6.7% with 4% being mixed white and black Caribbean
By religion:
Nottingham has 80,000 Christians, 30,000 Muslims, 15,000 Sikhs, 8,000 Hindus and 2,000 Jews.
Ulterior motive?
Harry the Invisible is being shoved off into 9-to-5 gigs and picking up the groceries and scrubbing the toilets, whilst HRH Megs sits on her throne as Queen of Mudslidelandia in her $6000 frocks, tossing out small coins from the balcony to the poors. The foundation funds are hers, all hers, because she is Meghan
As one of Scobie’s dreadful white males (apart from his ex BF Markus who is white goodness), Harry must learn to suffer for popping out if his English Rose mommy. Just as Thomas Markle Sr must suffer. And Trevor and Corey had to suffer. And Rory McIlroy and Piers too... No wonder Harry was snotty to James Corden actually. That man is so white!
Well, Alexi Robichaux is white too, but, like, that’s different.
And Jeff Bezos was actually Jeff Jorgensen, son of Ted Jorgensen, before being adopted by his stepfather, Miguel Bezos, but, that’s different too.
And Ken Sunshine of Long Island.
And Bob Iger.
All different.
But, you know, Scobie is gonna head punch them all, so they don’t disturb the unbiased good works of Our Lady of Fad-ima.
I wonder why her acts of generosity on this side of the Pond make me feel uneasy?
Is it because she's spending other people's cash to build herself a support base in one particular demographic group in the UK?
Or because somehow she's cocking a snook at the rest of us?
Or both?
Re: the recent donation from the cookbook:
Given that it always appeared to me Meghan kind of hijacked the book from the women in the UK who wrote it, and given the scrutiny the Sussex Royal/Archwell foundation is getting, I think the donation was a defensive move. There may have also been some small print in the book deal the Royal Foundation hammered out (because it was the Royal Foundation at that point) so the money has to go to UK causes.
Certainly it may be M is still determined to "succeed" in the UK and both M&H want people there to be sorry they are gone (like children who fantasize about making their parents sorry if they run away or die). But I think the donation was made primarily for other reasons.
@D1,
Good questions. I suspect the way the partnership agreement was written the income from the book had to stay with the Royal Foundation. It sounds like boundaries re: money transfers were already stretched when Sussex Royal was established and then shut down pretty immediately.
Why M can donate from the Royal Foundation I don't know. And we don't really know when the donation was made, just when it was publicized. I do know if I had been involved in putting the book together (not just stepping in and writing a forward) I'd be pretty pissed if the book's proceeds went to some US-based charity.
snarkyatherbest said…
I wonder if the cookbook funds funnel into the royal foundation and then need to be committed. Perhaps the organizations were predetermined and this was a scheduled donation that Megs glommed onto or perhaps moneys were taken out and someone highlighted that those funds were suppose to stay and be used by the foundation so one one had to write a check to make good on funds improperly used. (I keep focusing on March 31)
It does make one wonder how she ended up taking control of funds from a cookbook she really had nothing to do with.
A different thought. I just saw pictures of Princess Leonor of Spain, aged 15, on her first, official solo event. If the BRF were take a cue from this and similarly send out Prince George, say when he's 10, imagine the shrieks in Harkle mansion. Nothing will compare when gen next begins to take on duties and truly thrive. What Uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan found so crushing, burdensome, confining, silencing, dehumasing being carried out by young a young prince, some time later a princess, with professional poise will show that couple a thing or two. That will be the day.
Collins has been Markle's agent from her years as an actress on Suits, stuck with her even after she vowed to quit show business when she got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, and helped her plan 'Megxit'.
But sources told DailyMail.com that the Duchess is no longer using Collins as her agent, after a giant $100 million Netflix deal, multi-million dollar podcast signing with Spotify and other lucrative business ventures allowed her to hire a new in-house team.
Collins, a partner at leading Tinseltown deal makers The Gersh Agency which represented the former Suits actress for several years, will remain as a 'consultant'.
Separately, I think she picked the cirque du soleil event as the day to highlight her mental health struggles maybe because she was booed. Perhaps she calculated that if post-interview analysis were to look back at the event and find the booing, it will be a spectacular evidence for Meghan's persecution by racist UK. PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey may have cost them a spot in the Hollywood elite, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess, who have set up home in California, have been linked to A-listers including George Clooney and the Obamas.
Writing in the Guardian, Barbara Ellen said that the couple's chances of being accepted into Hollywood's elite have diminished since airing their grievances about the Palace to Oprah.
Ellen wrote: "Considering where Meghan and Prince Harry wish to end up, are they blowing it up big-time?
"Put it this way: has Michelle Obama ever sat on a TV sofa b****ing about her sister-in-law?"
Ellen pointed out that "such behaviour" is the "antithesis of how the mega-rich, uber-influential, notoriously private elite conduct themselves.”'
Corey. She was engaged to marry Corey while she was seeing Harry (in fact, allegedly Meghan met Harry during a dinner Corey was catering for). Once she had Harry in the sack, she broke up with Corey. That is why they changed the timeline of when they met from May to I think June or so.
In May of that year, Meghan was still with Corey.
Enough about the cheating, Enty. I want to know more about Markus Anderson and how he fits in with Meghan and Harry. In Finding Freedom, Meghan stated Markus was the one that helped arrange dates between Meghan and Harry.
When they ran off to Canada after Megxit, according to a People's article, Markus Anderson was staying at that Russian house with Meghan and Harry. There was rumors again saying Doria and Markus stayed with Meghan and Harry when they were at Tyler Perry's house.
Another rumor has it Meghan has been throwing parties and someone who fits Markus Anderson's description was seen at Meghan and Harry's current location. Is Markus some kind of pimp or handler?
I do understand how you feeling like that about the faithful horses. I didn't watch the cartoon version either, for that reason. Couldn’t face `Warhorse’ either.
I was upset by poor Ginger's end in Black Beauty - she was my inspiration when, aged 7 or 8, I fought the dentist and his assistant when they tried to put the mask on me for an extraction when they hadn't said so much as `hello', let alone looked in my mouth.
I was so angry that I thought of the mare fighting the bearing rein and that gave me the strength to kick and struggle, until Mum appeared at the surgery door and cried `How dare you treat a child like that!'
She grabbed my hand and took me home. The gas made me sick on the bus but I didn't care - I'd won!
And sadly we are being dragged into the world of Newspeak, to say nothing of Big Sister’s gaze boring through the TV screen at E’s wedding.
Variety reported the dropped agent detail 2wks ago in their article about DM complaining to CBS about the doctored news articles used in the Oprah interview.
The paragraph in Variety was stark ie no details except to say they were surprised to learn that Meghan had ditched her agent and agency and the entire thing kept very quiet because agency changes in hollywood are bread and butter gossip that everyone is always talking about.
Variety said they'd just stumbled on the information.
DM article today has more details which are very interesting.
Both parties are at pains to claim friendship and no hard feelings - isn't this the same statement meghan's PR put out about her fleeing royal staff?
However, embedded within the article are 3 revealing comments:
1. Bewilderment and astonishment that Meghan has dropped NicK and the Gersh agency as all her deals and Megxit, Archewell setups came through them. The Gersh Agency has access to other types of divisions that might be helpful to her.
2. Meghan doesn't want to pay the agency their 20% commission anymore after using them to set up her own team at Archewell.
3. Archewell is described as *her* vehicle. Not her and Harry. Just her. Assets already divided?!
I think She's confident that she's set up everything she needs and so Nick and The Gersh agency have outlived their usefulness.
Sayonara Nick.
Well they have to say the split that they remain friends Megs can afford another person leaving because of unreasonable expectations or awful behavior. I dont doubt she used them and ditched them question is did she pay them or not When she makes it out like its her decision it usually means its opposite day and it probably they left her.
@SirStinxAlot - my thoughts too! I think her agent may have ditched HER. Very interesting that the Sussexes reportedly did the rounds, job hunting as a twosome, but only Harry was sufficiently palatable. This coming on the heels of that report pointing out the obvious - that the elite Meghan so longs to join wouldn't dream of behaving as she does. Yes Meghan is banging the drum every day and dominating our newsfeeds, but as Lady C says, this won't end well for her. We just have to be patient and get in a good supply of blood-pressure medication.
@SwampWoman - Maybe I just don't speak "crazy" fluently enough. Sums it up perfectly. So hard trying to work out the Sussexes and the folks who think and talk as she does. Though I don't want to understand or speak word salad either. Reminds me of one of my favourite writers, Jerome K. Jerome on learning German. "I don't understand German myself. I learned it at school, but forgot every word of it two years after I had left, and have felt much better ever since." (No insults intended to any German nutties!)
Supposedly, this app is B2B only. For every client (like Walmart or Waitrose) they attain they charge the client $3800 per employee, per year. That is an enormous subscription rate! Executive management can be expensive. LSE’s executive MBA is $100k, for example. I can understand a good product bringing results, but the fact it’s used for all employees has me side-eyeing the situation. Young guys, check. Platform, check. Subscription revenue, check. I haven’t read about this app in detail or from people who have used it.
One client of 1,000 employees would command a $3mm bill. Their revenue is probably calculated at a 20x multiple for the 1.7bb valuation (the go big or go home model) They have a lot of investors who normally have interest in the companies they are able to do deals with. I’d guess their revenue is between $60mm- $120mm. A couple of huge clients (some companies have 100s of thousands employees) and a lot of medium sized business. They’ll also be expecting international businesses to sign up (insert Harry).
You can easily get to a billion dollar valuation if you get to $100mm in revenue.
For example I know a couple guys that are in a niche market with a subscription product who make $5mm a year and their valuation is at $80mm after an investment round.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk on BetterUps financial situation. No Harry would not get 1% after series D (this would piss investors off). He will have a package that they convinced him will grow and grow. Doesn’t mean it will. Also, was probably pretty easy to do considering the BG item about how ignorant he and Meghan are.
I'm thinking that finances (despite Harry having two "jobs") are tight. They run up a lot of monthly expenses. Therefore, an in house team is probably much cheaper than 20% to the agent et al.
Or as you said, once she had what she wanted, she dropped them.
I'm still betting on the money angle.
Sorry AnT just caught your article on BetterUp.
Ok so their changing from B2B to B2C under the guise of the big trend in biz for the last 5 years- ‘upskilling’, and ‘mental health’. I just signed up and it won’t let me see what they plan to charge me after one session, so I emailed to get information. Something tells me that the lack of transparency means it’s $$$. I’ll let you guys know what they come back with. The flashy hire of Harry makes sense. There’s a lot of competition in this market - Google and Linkedin(Microsoft) are just two that are entering this space in a big way.
Ok I found this in The Telegraph:
“The price was eye-watering: $499 (£364) per month, reduced with a discount for my "early interest" to $249 per month until the end of 2021.”
Steep.
I just had my husband look at it and he says it’s aimed at Yoga CEOs (California tech), basically rich kids with dads money who have little businesses (funny- that’s like the founders!). He doesn’t see how they will have traction at the mid range price point. He laughed when he looked through it and said ‘oh, life coaching’ with a further giggle. He laughed further when he saw Prince Harry splashed all over the front page. ‘Prince Harry?!’ (I didn’t give him context). If they plan to reach new customers why do they think Prince Harry will do that job for them? He thinks Prince Harry is all wrong for this company and he thinks the site sucks.
Musty,
I agree it looks like they are tight for money. You don’t fire and drop people if they are providing you a lot of value. Also, I think these people quit and it’s Meghan’s spin. Why would an agent stay with her, if they are unable to get lucrative deals and it’s been 18 months of effort? Based on the BG, an agent would look at what’s happening and realize the market for Royal Rejects in America is quite small. I also think she came back a different person, used to the Royal treatment and expected all her ‘staff’ to curtesy to her and obey all her orders. I’m such that’s fantastic to deal with on a daily basis!!! Lol.
Moneys tight, alright.
But sources told DailyMail.com that the Duchess is no longer using Collins as her agent, after a giant $100 million Netflix deal, multi-million dollar podcast signing with Spotify and other lucrative business ventures allowed her to hire a new in-house team.
Collins got 20% of the Netflix and Spotify deals which sent Megs into orbit. So they got rid of Collins and will take what he does "in house". This was the description. Megs will be her own agent though she will have a sock puppet talk to interested parties. Gotta keep some distance.
Maybe Collins quit after the Orpah lies. They were tarnishing his reputation. Less possible but maybe.
snarkyatherbest said…
maybe there was no $100MM deals and so 20% of nothing is nothing. No content no cash no 20%
Interesting on the Cnn debunking thing. kinda real journalism; now do Washington DC ;-)
Oprah will need another big interview to walk away from H&M or she is at risk of being markled.
@JennS,
Superb tea! Thank you for compiling all those stories.
When will it all come out in public. If does, Will there be retribution? Or will she continue to glide through everything?
This next bit may seem O/T at first, but it is not:
I had a long workday and decided to relax tonight, and just watched the restored version of 1964’s My Fair Lady, on the Turner Classic Movies. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially because I have nice memories of first seeing it with my mother, aunt and grandmother as a child. So the movie ends, the credits roll as the music plays, and they go to the three smirking hosts who unload on the film, blasting it for being a misogynistic nightmare of a cruel man beIng horribly abuse to this poor girl and nearly destroying her and how disappointing it was she seemed strong but came back to him in the end.
The gloating smirking panel of hosts saying this had the most bizarre smiles on their faces as they bashed the film. It was as eerie to watch them jabber their little speeches as it was to hear their unexamined nonsense. We just saw the film, the story, and they are trying to convince us she was basically a beaten kidnapping victim, ignoring her desire to learn, the lessons and accommodations she received, her freedom to come or go, her development AND what happened to her father, and the mocking if silly Freddie, and her firm telling off of Professor Huggins while in the palatial home of his strong mother — well, you know the story. They make the assumption that she returned for romance when perhaps she returned to teach with him, as was my childhood assumption since she told him she wanted not kisses from him, but kindness, and wanted to teach .....but what’s more more, original playwright Shaw did not them get together at the end romantically, but a director Named Tree did on stage, telling Shaw, “my way makes money.” So these critics ignore all of that and gleefully pound the film to pulp as a misogynist film of abuse.
Now, I feel a certain chill that My Fair Lady will not be broadcast again, in our new woke world — even though these same three woke critics will certainly drool over and celebrate Markle, the from-nothing Eliza of our day who crawled out of nothingness to beguile and marry a Prince who is noted by his girlfriends for not being a nice person....how is that a strong woman’s ending, hmm? All to get to the palace and its pots of money, but unlike film Eliza, Megs-Doolittle has failed to absorb any lessons about anything, about being a more elevated, mannered, well-spoken Duchess. She simply gave up and raced back into the grifting life from which she sprang, abusing others and treating them poorly like true gutter trash, throwing tea, turning her husband into a broken shadow. Megs’ Eliza would have attended the ball in dirty shoes, sloppy dress, hair flying, insulted the other guests, and asked for money from her dance partners before blowing it all with a flipped wig and her hyena screeching laugh.
.
Are you still there? I have another tea post coming up and it's very good...
I think you may have to purchase a copy of My Fair Lady until the pendulum swings back again to less extreme times. I need to get a copy of the movie Gone with the Wind - I have had the book for decades but want to be able to still view the movie.
@JennS,
Still here, catching up on email.
Yes, have a copy of My Fair Lady, thank goodness. But Mr AnT found this on old-style cable tv for me so I just curled up and enjoyed it.
More tea! Excellent. Pour! πŸ˜ƒ
@Jenn,
This is getting so close to burning books. People are going way overboard to be politically correct, and it's ruining our heritage. It's Orwellian. Yes, we have some things in our country's history that we are not proud of, but if they completely destroy certain books or movies, we will never be given the chance to slowly and sanely correct them.
MM wants to change the world overnight. Good luck with that.
Don’t know if someone posted this already, but acc to an article in the Mirror, Harry won’t have an office at BetterUp, per Robichaux. Harry will work from home, just coming up for meetings now and then after restrictions are lifted. This info was used as an excuse to show more photos of “their” mansion and describe it many features again. I still doubt they live there. Maybe they rent it now and then for videos.
It is becoming more and more frightening. I feel as if people have been *infected* with some kind of mentally imbalanced form of extremism that they can't shake and are unable to see anything clearly anymore. And whatever measures they are taking to woke-the-world is not helping racial tensions - it's making it worse.
Wow, Jenn, incredible work finding that story! I have seen it referenced a few times but no one still had it around. It is like the unicorn of MM stories. Well done. Your research is the best.
But god, I feel terrible for the poor girl who was targeted by Megs — to the point Megs tried to make her look guilty of a drug violation. That is far beyond the usual awfulness off teen bullying. And in a Catholic girl’s’ academy! It shows her ability to plot, to calmly access those illegal substances from family, and carry out something awful. Think how awful it must have been for the girl being accused (and her sister) then watching Megs “charm” her way out of trouble. How sick, at a young age —- yet, it’s fits with the sulky snotty young Megs we saw in the soap video, when her expression reminded me more of a sort of dead-eyed mafia-type killer-for-hire, than a preteen girl.
She is so sick. I hope the physician who told the tale is right, that she will unravel.
Extract from my projected `screen play' for any upcoming Meghan biopic called `The Life of Meghan':
`She's not the Messiah - she's a very deluded woman!'
@JennS and @Jocelyn’sBellinis,
Agreed....it is like brains have been infected or mass-hypnotized. Or are we seen a bullying handful saying things and others are afraid to sY pout loud that what they say is ridiculous, or that other opinions exist.... it is cultural genocide and people just look away to avoid trouble. This is why I think the Harkles are part of something bigger and more awful. Too much coincidence Ago think that they would just happen start speaking their gibberish and trying to smother free press and free speech at exactly this sad time in history.
@Wild Boar Battle-maid,
@Ant,
It's like somebody's put something in the water. When have we seen such craziness in the world? Just reading the news every day is a frightening and saddening prospect.
Last night, I watched a Seattle news special, "Seattle Is Dying," which showed my beloved Seattle streets filled with alcoholics, drug users and people with mental illnesses, who are living in camps and out on the streets. The filth and garbage has taken over some of the most beautiful parts of Seattle and turned it into a place where people won't even go downtown anymore.
When I left Seattle years ago, it was a pristinely beautiful place that people were moving to in droves. Now, they're moving out of the city due to crime, drugs and filth. There are massive garbage piles in the streets and on the sidewalks, along with urine and feces. It's become a dystopian city.
This video was made in 2019, so you can imagine how much worse it is now, and the police have no authority anymore.
I can't get the link to work, but Google Seattle Is Dying video, and it will pop up. People should see what's happening to our cities.
What was once a beautiful store, the Nordstrom flagships store, is shown in this video as drunks and drug addicts urinate on the sidewalk or are ranting and raving from drugs. It's right where my friends and I would stop for a latte right outside of the Nordstrom front door. Now, nobody would want to sit there.
Did anybody already post this from Crazy Days and Nights? I haven’t seen it here, but I might have missed it. Sounds like Tom Bower will be talking with Chef Corey for his book. We all know Meghan was cheating on him with Harry. Narcissists usually make sure they have a new fuel supply in place before they dump their current fuel supply. Meghan is also said to have cheated on Trevor. Now THAT’S the interview I’d like to see in the Bower book.
I know the author hired to dig up dirt on the alliterate one has already scheduled an interview with her most recent ex. It will be centered on her cheating on him.
A Quiet Interlude
 Not much appears to be going on. Living Legends came and went without fanfare ... what's the next event?   Super Bowl - Sunday February 11th?  Oscar's - March 10th?   In the mean time, some things are still rolling along in various starts and stops like Samantha's law suit. Or tax season is about to begin in the US.  The IRS just never goes away.  Nor do bills (utility, cable, mortgage, food, cars, security, landscape people, cleaning people, koi person and so on).  There's always another one.  Elsewhere others just continue to glide forward without a real hint of being disrupted by some news out of California.   That would be the new King and Queen or the Prince/Princess of Wales.   Yes there are health risks which seemed to come out of nowhere.  But.  The difference is that these people are calmly living their lives with minimal drama.
As Time Passes and We Get Older
 I started thinking about how time passes when reading some of the articles about the birthday.  It was interesting to think about it from the different points of view.  Besides, it kind of fits as a follow up the last post (the whole saga of can the two brothers reunite). So there is the requisite article about how he will be getting all kinds of money willed to him from his great-grandmother.  There were stories about Princess Anne as trustee (and not allowing earliest access to it all).  Whether or not any or all of this is true (there was money for him and/or other kids) has been debated with claims she actually died owing money with the Queen paying the debts to avoid scandal.  Don't know but I seem to remember that royal estates are shrouded from the public so we may not (ever) know. However, strange things like assisting in a book after repeated denials have popped up in legal papers so nothing is ever really predicable.   We are also seein...
The Opening Act of New Adventures in Retail
 I keep thinking things will settle down to the lazy days of spring where the weather is gorgeous and there is a certain sense of peacefulness.  New flowers are coming out. increasing daylight so people can be outside/play and thinking gardening thoughts.  And life is quiet.  Calm. And then something happens like a comet shooting across the sky.  (Out of nowhere it arrives and then leaves almost as quickly.)   An update to a law suit.  Video of the website is released (but doesn't actually promote any specific product which can be purchased from the website).  A delay and then jam is given out (but to whom and possible more importantly - who did not make the list?).  Trophies almost fall (oops).  Information slips out like when the official date of beginning USA residency.  (now, isn't that interesting?) With them, it's always something in play or simmering just below the surface.  The diversity of the endeavors is really ...
