The definition of doldrums is about stagnation, inactivity and or depression.
Well, they aren't inactive. We don't know about depression. Stagnation? well maybe as it refers to not flowing or moving.
They sorta have some stuff going on - her second season (side note: uproar about Chrissy Teigen and bullying) and he's coming back to the UK for something but other than that? Not much is shaking and baking from them.
However, there is an ever so slight uptick on articles which point out something negative. Even on both sides of the pond.

We loved watching Foyle's War, very well written and acted, sensitive. Michael Kitchen was fantastic as Foyle and Anthony Horowitz is a superb writer.

It's often said that during the war, ordinary people did extraordinary things - several examples come to mind:
John Counsell, the person I knew of as actor/manager at the Theatre Royal, Windsor (which I've mentioned before) was the person who drew up the German Instrument of Surrender in May 1945.
Also, one of my former colleagues had been a `backroom boy', at Stalag Luft III of `The Great Escape' fame , as I discovered only a few years ago.

And let's not forget that *'s degree was in 'theater and international studies from Northwestern's School of Communication'. I would have thought that correct use of English, and concise English at that, was essential for clear communication.
Did the syllabus focus on non-verbal communication, pictograms perhaps? There's no evidence of her acting ability, nor skill at mime, expressive dance, musical expression or expressive visual representation ? Nor of successful communication in languages other than English. Horse whispering? Whistling to sheepdogs? Telepathic communication with other life forms elsewhere in the Universe?
Was her degree a participation award? Was it based on continuous assessment that she could plagiarise? Did she blackmail the examiners?
