So ... What really did Happen?

It was about the length of a cup of tea (more or less) but what do you think really happened?

I am expecting lots and lots of ink about how the two have reconciled, suddenly all is well between the two and expect unicorns in the garden with elves throwing glitter in the air level of happy walk into the sunset.

Full reconciliation?  Are you mad?

Have you looked at the definition lately?  It's about settling a disagreement, making someone accept something unpleasant or restoring friendly relations.  And, in that short a time period?  get real.

It is about enough time to ask how you like your tea now adays, ask about your health (times two for both sides), make some polite conversation about weather, show a couple of photos of the kids and sip the tea.

Probably stilted conversation with prearranged topics as well as ones which would be banned like security.  Or a complete return to the UK (with support from the King).  Also minders present before, during and after.  Stilted and very un-intimate.  More like talking with an acquaintance  you see at the annual company Holiday party every December.

It could be the start of something in terms of two being able to have closer contact.  Slowly.  Controlled.  Or not.

It's hard.  The King is between a rock and a hard place.  He loves his son.  The son he used to know and tried to help through the years.  That help was not appreciated by the son who also has said (and written) some painful things about his father and the others in the family.  Very publicly which makes the working on how to attempt to reconcile ever so more difficult.

The son he used to know is gone.

What do you think they talked about?

I need some light gossip to change my mood.
Hairy came out in tears from his alleged meeting with Charles.
I think it's because he was told off by his father.
Who agrees with me?

I wonder if Hairy will attend the funeral of the Duchess of Kent.

I agree with you on the need for light gossip and Hazmat's reaction. He not only didn't get what he wanted, he also has to inform Nutmeg of his failure. That would defiinitely bring a grown man-baby to tears.

He certainly didn't look a happy bunny , did he? Oh, to have been a fly on the wall!

Good grief - he's now posing as a saviour for Ukraine...
I believe there are 2 main reasons why H finds excuses not to bring the children here:
One: Fear of their genetics being investigated and the truth being revealed
Two: Perhaps they could be taken away from him & *, even under the usual law applied to ordinary unfit parents, without invoking the 18thC rule about the monarch having custody of grandchildren.

People are having a laugh at Harry's expense because of this comment:

It is his first visit to Kyiv, which was hit by Russian cruise missiles just two days ago on the same night numerous attack drones from Russia violated Polish airspace and were shot down.

'I had to check with my wife and the British government to make sure it was OK', he admitted today.

Apparently, Harry had tea with Charles and they met for 54 minutes. We don't know what transpired. According to the DM, 'Harry has 'regrets' and wants to 'reset' his relationship with the Royal Family and the British people'. The question is. does the RF want to reset its relationship with Harry? I don't put * in the equation, I think that ship sailed a long time ago. The British people aren't happy with Harry either and are not interested. He's probably been sent over by * to try and ingratiate himself with Papa.

Harry has now made a surprise visit to Kyiv to support Ukrainians with life-changing injuries caused by the war. You'll be pleased to know that he had, as well as the permission of the British government, wifey's permission. Not sure what she has to do with it.

'“I had to check with my wife and the British government to make sure it was OK. Then the official invitation came,” he said as he made his way into the capital on an overnight train through Poland.' I'm not sure he's supported British veterans that much.

@Girl with a Hat

This is Harry's *second* visit to Kyiv, if you don't mind!! Amazing he can waltz off to Kyiv but finds it unsafe to be in the UK. And you'll notice that he mentions checking with wifey first, before the British government!
The best estimate I've come across for H's time with the king is only 18 minutes, as given by River from sources he wouldn't/couldn't reveal. 54 mins may be the overall time between him entering CH and leaving the premises.
Presumably he was searched by for hidden devices, whether that included a `rubber glove' cavity search isn't known.

(BTW I'm still seething about the search to which I was subjected when about to fly home a couple of days ago. I'm a little old lady with an implanted medical device subject to interference from old-style metal detectors. My hospital card was ignored and Security made a real meal of it, compared with the quick pat-down I get leaving France. I should be thankful that they didn't check my cavities, but it was still humiliating.
Anyway, River reports that H went to the loo both before and after the `tea' and finally, he heard secondhand that HM was overheard muttering later that H `didn't get it' and wasn't listening.
Jan Moir nails it with her description of his face as he left:
`For a moment the cheery mask slipped, the game face had gone. Instead he had the grim expression of a man who had just been refused a mortgage. Again.'
https://archive.ph/4QRLG#selection-2025.0-2025.150

Or, as Mr WildBoar put it with a Scotticism, `He's got a face like a skelped arse'.

I think he went to Ukraine the last time, but not to Kiev.
Girl with a Hat said…
To the loo before and after? That is very suspicious. Do you think, as I do, that he had something hidden up his arse? LOL

This time, Harry's comeback tour and visit to Ukraine was pushed off the front pages by exceptional events again. I think someone has cursed the Sussexes so that they never get the PR effect they expected.
Girl with a Hat said…
There was the second installment of her Netflix series, pushed off the front page by Taylor Swift`s engagement just a few weeks ago, and of course the pandemic which really limited the types of activities they were able to do, then the Queen`s death, etc.

@Wild Boar and Girl with a Hat

The loo before and after? Could it be to do with nerves? It's well known that anxiety and being very nervous can cause one to go to the loo (affecting both bladder and bowel). I'd say that could well be it was (if true), in which case we must ask why he was bricking it. Intense fear, apprehension, anxiety - so possibly that was a no from Charles (meaning later a bollocking from wifey).

@GIRL

You're right, it's Harry's second time in Ukraine, not Kyiv
I wonder if British tabloid ladies truly believe that Harry would the right person to represent the State in future when they drone on about his come back? The government (ANY government) or British Royal Family may have some qualms about a middle aged alcoholic drug addict with a pathological need for his pictures on front pages sitting through state dinners with important foreign guests. And the next day when needing some pocket money he would go to spill the beans to these same tabloid ladies? He is no more a person of quality, is he?

His face when leaving the meeting with his father said it all. A crushing reality was written all over it.

The famous payback time.

A couple more reasons for the loo assuggested by River & his commenters IIRC:
Needed to do coke twice,
`Shredded bladder' thanks to ketamine

According to River, he drank coffee - I suppose that could have run straight through him, if his stomach had little food in it.

@Alianor: I gather that State dinners are regarded as `diplomatic occasions', almost like `summit' meetings and royals have to report back at debriefing sessions about their conversations with foreign dignitaries.
Has any valuable intelligence been acquired, perhaps. Has any guest been politically indiscreet? One has to have demonstrated one's reliability, tact and diplomacy, as well as being a temperate consumer of alcohol and not likely to give offence to visitors. Hence Harry is not suitable!

Gosh It Is Quiet In Here

There just hasn't been a lot from really either of them together or individually lately, has there? But why? Have they blown all their bridges, connections and are down to toss the proverbial kitchen sink for attention? I don't know.  We've heard that moving vans showed up at the house.  And nothing more like pictures from a neighbor happy to see the back of them. We've heard they bought a house on Portugal.   But the wording was kind of funny.  Multiple sources of the same thing - yes but that isn't a guarantee of proof as it could all be from the same source.  It was more along the lines of "We've been told that...".  It came off as a we really don't know if we believe this to be true or not so we are putting it out there but hedging our bets.  Or at least it did to me. And nothing more like exactly when, where or for how much or when they might visit it again.  Or pictures of the awesome inside.  Or outside.  Or requisite ...

Cliff Hanger

Deadlines for responses have passed.  Will they show?  Won't they show?   And, rumors of demands for money to cross hands to make appearances (new level of pay to play). Such drama.  You would think this was a soap opera where every episode ends with a crazy cliff hanger story plot to drive the next installment.  Sadly, I don't expect it to change any time soon either.  No.  For them, there appears to be way too much energy left in the will they, won't they to end it now even though everyone else is pretty much tired of it.  Hardly something one can point to and claim that they are trying to reconcile with those who feel distressed about what was printed. Just noticed something: remember that talk of trying to reach out and reconcile after the book, etc.?  It seems to have drifted away, hasn't it?  Hmm.  Interesting.  I wonder if that is recognized as a total lost cause or just delayed into the summer (or fall) campaign (c...

As Time Passes and We Get Older

I started thinking about how time passes when reading some of the articles about the birthday.  It was interesting to think about it from the different points of view.  Besides, it kind of fits as a follow up the last post (the whole saga of can the two brothers reunite). So there is the requisite article about how he will be getting all kinds of money willed to him from his great-grandmother.  There were stories about Princess Anne as trustee (and not allowing earliest access to it all).  Whether or not any or all of this is true (there was money for him and/or other kids) has been debated with claims she actually died owing money with the Queen paying the debts to avoid scandal.  Don't know but I seem to remember that royal estates are shrouded from the public so we may not (ever) know. However, strange things like assisting in a book after repeated denials have popped up in legal papers so nothing is ever really predicable.   We are also seein...
