Moving - Boxes and Dreams

Well that was a shock.  Out of nowhere.  Whiplash I tell you.

What I wonder about:

Selling/get out from underneath the big house in Montecito.  Living that life there was costing them dearly, koi specialists aside.  Traditionally the seller pays the realtors although with the new rules out that may or may not apply.  But ... off loading this particular house may be difficult and the seller may need to add things to sweeten the sale.  That may come out as a negative on the balance sheet.

Hmm, I thought she hated the UK and never wanted to return, especially after not getting things she wanted from the last visit, although he could do what he wanted.  What triggered this 180?  It must have been really big.

Think about all the money they have spent to invest in the states. The house.  The vacations.  The clothing.  And, the security.  Then, there is all the spread, wine and book marks - the set up and what remains unsold.  Huge chunks of money. Tossed.  There was something about how there was going to be a one stop therapy and similar that her mother was going to be part of. We haven't heard a peep out of that in years. But lots spent on lawyers setting it up structurally as I recall.

We never heard anything about how they were doing on the tax situation.  I would not want to be their accountant.

Where are they going to live?  You can't live forever at Soho.  Schools are not cheap.  When he was growing up, his life was heavily subsidized - not just money covering his expenses but his father sent over prepared food.

I remember that he has talked about wanting his kids to have the experiences he had with cousins.  I could wrong but just moving back to his homeland is not going to guarantee that his kids will now play with the Wales even taking into account that the ages don't really overlap well.  Nor will being nearby be a guarantee to invited to family holidays.  In fact, it may be even more obvious because they would now be close enough instead of needing to fly across the pond.

I don't know.

I don`t believe it will happen. I think it`s their idea of blackmail.
So Harry forces himself on his father to get what he wants? How predictable.

What will a deeply humiliated narcissist do when she totally loses her face? She will seek revenge.

Or maybe they think Charles won't live long. I don't know.

So, when does the dirt on Meghan come out?

"This is only hearsay, but in London a Brit socialite who knew her way around money, Europe, royalty told me - and my companion, so I wasn't alone in hearing this - that Meghan was known in the old days. 'She was around the famous playgrounds Europeans visit...and known to be shopping for a rich husband.'" That's a quote from Cindy Adams in yesterday's New York Post . Cindy is old - so old that she interviewed the original Duchess of Windsor. "Who was also American,"  writes Cindy.   "She was not happy afterward. She was tough. I interviewed her. She was constantly looking to negotiate some sort of financial betterment." So, when does the dirt start coming out? How about now. Who will drop the information? We've had more than 1200 comments since the Sussex summit on Monday, so please allow me to repeat part of my answer to a question hidden somewhere within that forest of text. A regular commenter asked for my input ...

Meghan, Harry, and Community Property in California

This is what happens when I take too long to write a post. My original idea - that Meghan and Harry should consider purchasing one of the " cheap old houses " popular on Instagram and fix it up as part of a reality series - seems to have been overtaken by events. Page Six is reporting today that Meghan and Harry already have a house in Santa Barbara, near Oprah and Ellen's pads, and in fact have been living there for at least six weeks. (This is not entirely unexpected; Harry's most recent hostage video had a different background than usual.) "This is the first home either of them has ever owned," writes the couple's PR agent via Page 6. "It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family - to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in." They could probably still be having complete privacy if the couple's PR team wasn't leveraging their real estate news in order to promote the new book "Finding Freed...

New Year (and what's next?)

Another year and what will it bring for them (and us who watch)?   One thing I thought of is control of their image for appearances.  It isn't just that they have lost so many people in such a fairly short time period but who they lost.  The people who advised, handled details to make the events happen - road trips to volunteering.  We've been saying all along that each loss is a ripple of warning towards a potential new hire coming in.  New hires, yes but what about fund raising?  Cash flow?  This, from SMM, is an interesting read: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/1puzsvh/impact_report_990_review_from_a_nonprofit/ Which leads us to money.  Keeping their image engine running costs a lot.  No doubt there are a lot details, paperwork, contracts to negotiate and find new groups to partner with.  Hence the need for a good team. The duo could do some of it or all but for how long?   side note: the peopl...
