Moving - Boxes and Dreams

Well that was a shock.  Out of nowhere.  Whiplash I tell you.

What I wonder about:

Selling/get out from underneath the big house in Montecito.  Living that life there was costing them dearly, koi specialists aside.  Traditionally the seller pays the realtors although with the new rules out that may or may not apply.  But ... off loading this particular house may be difficult and the seller may need to add things to sweeten the sale.  That may come out as a negative on the balance sheet.

Hmm, I thought she hated the UK and never wanted to return, especially after not getting things she wanted from the last visit, although he could do what he wanted.  What triggered this 180?  It must have been really big.

Think about all the money they have spent to invest in the states. The house.  The vacations.  The clothing.  And, the security.  Then, there is all the spread, wine and book marks - the set up and what remains unsold.  Huge chunks of money. Tossed.  There was something about how there was going to be a one stop therapy and similar that her mother was going to be part of. We haven't heard a peep out of that in years. But lots spent on lawyers setting it up structurally as I recall.

We never heard anything about how they were doing on the tax situation.  I would not want to be their accountant.

Where are they going to live?  You can't live forever at Soho.  Schools are not cheap.  When he was growing up, his life was heavily subsidized - not just money covering his expenses but his father sent over prepared food.

I remember that he has talked about wanting his kids to have the experiences he had with cousins.  I could wrong but just moving back to his homeland is not going to guarantee that his kids will now play with the Wales even taking into account that the ages don't really overlap well.  Nor will being nearby be a guarantee to invited to family holidays.  In fact, it may be even more obvious because they would now be close enough instead of needing to fly across the pond.

I don't know.

I don`t believe it will happen. I think it`s their idea of blackmail.
So Harry forces himself on his father to get what he wants? How predictable.

What will a deeply humiliated narcissist do when she totally loses her face? She will seek revenge.

I, too, am infuriated, and can only assume they are completely broke. I think this could shake the Monarchy. There is no way Nutmeg will be able to keep a low profile and live a quiet life, with no attention from the press. I literally don't think she is capable of it, even if she tried, which she absolutely will not. I tremble to think what William is going through. Nutmeg should not be allowed anywhere near the Wales family.

Another thing that occurs to me is that this seems to give The Daily Mail a distinct advantage in exacting their revenge. I know they have a huge presence in the US, ( they report things our media here, won't) but it seems like they would have even more eyes and ears and sources in the UK. I also think Charles will be footing tbe bill for the education of the children, which doesn't bother me, but I do wonder if that also figured in to the decision.

And I do truly hope someone is keeping an eye on the sprogs. I don't mean in a nanny sort of way, more in a Child Protective Services kind of way. I do believe she is capable of anything to get attention and money, and having been thwarted in her own attempts, I think the children are going to be under enormous pressure to meet her delusional expectations.
Maneki Neko said…
The news is legit, it's on the BBC, in the Times, the Guardian, the Independent etc. Either this is due to Charles's health which is deteriorating or else they're in need of money. We don't know if they'll be renting to start with. I don't think they can buy a property outright. How can they find a property meeting all their needs? Apparently, they're planning to move later this month. The children are already enrolled in a school. That was very sudden, although the duo must have been planning it for some time. It's not easy to find places in a private school - I can't imagine A &L will go to the local state school - at short notice. School starts in a couple of weeks. So many questions and so few answers.

This BBC article has a few more details.

With the shock of the recent news, we forgot - I certainly did - why Harry wanted 24/7 security in the UK. Could this be it? This is a DM comment.

'So now we know the real reason he fought so hard and tried to force the UK govt to pay for his security. At the time it was thought by everyone, including the judges. it was just about short stays, visits here. Had he won, they'd now be entitled 24/7 not just a few days or weeks a year. That was his/their plan, already scheming to move back, and getting taxpayers to foot the bill for their security and save them a big expense.'

That's a very good point. There's also the school fees that will be payable in advance. Obviously the Hollywood dream is over. What will * do/flog? And Harry? The mood of the public at large re the duo's return is one of doom and gloom and I can't imagine what William and Catherine are feeling.
Maneki Neko said…
The Sussexes are keeping their £11M property in Montecito as well as their house in Portugal. I wonder how they will finance a new house and a new life in the UK. Even rented and outside London, a big property would not be cheap. As for jobs and source/s of income, that's another mystery.
What's happened about H's legal bills?
Could HM be covering the cost of security?
Is the idea to habituate to idea that the children are `really' theirs, so we protest if they're `removed' from the Succession on account of their illegitimacy in the eyes of the law? Vigils in Trafalgar Square - that sort of thing?
River is back and claiming inside knowledge that the visit to the King was very perfunctory, barely long enough to down a single small cuppa is the impression I got.
I can't think that they've successfully made all the arrangements they need for an international move unless someone's offered them a place to to doss down, unless it's a branch of Soho House. Can you imagine them at Travelodge? Even that needs booking.
OKay said…
Harry and the other one say a lot of things. Despite this coming from the BBC (or maybe even because of it, really), I'll believe it when I see it.
How they have the bloody cheek to even show their faces here is beyond me. Have they been emboldened by recent events here?
Will the children be sequestered in boarding school?
What effect does this have on the princely title.
I do so feel for the Cambridges - after all they've been through already..
abbyh said…
Yeah, I read that later (keeping the house).
But it was all so sudden. Just another one of their bombs like we are leaving. Now and not caring if the door slammed.

There is a part of me which wonders if they received notice of foreclosure on the house. The cost of running it is a huge drain. And would continue to be if it is left unoccupied. Something big like that.

Maybe part of the very private conversation was asking about a what if, then could help with ... like tuition?

The Prime Minister refused to be drawn on whether the couple would receive taxpayer-funded protection while in the country, after The Telegraph revealed that the Sussexes intend to move back to Britain from the US later this month.'

Their arrangements might well be private but only if the duo pay for their security themselves. If not, then the taxpayer will be on the hook and it then it becomes a public matter.

A YouGov poll showed that 33% of the population say the Harkles should not move back to the UK. Worryingly, 21% say they should. 45% don't know - don't care, more like.
Maneki Neko said…
The security issue should be simple. Only Charles and Camilla and William and Catherine have 24/7 police protection. Princess Anne, Sophie and Edward and others only get security when on official business. There won't be a half-in half-out situation so they won't be conducting any official business, therefore logically they shouldn't get any security, certainly not paid for by the public. Harkles. Or is that too logical?
abbyh said…
Well in theory it would work like that until one or both do one of the grand gesture tours which looks like royal business approved by the palace. Long before that will be the constant questions of can't you just give us this? to any passing person, family or unknown. Even a well tossed tomato would be viewed as proof positive of why they need full security.

What are they going to do all day? His friends have all kind of moved on and she - well - has limited people she feels comfortable with there. Sounds like a recipe for boredom.

Neither deals well with being told "no". They both seem to think it is only the beginning of negotiations instead of a complete sentence with no future planned discussions by the other party.

Considering how the palace is not always kept in the loop about their plans, this will continue to be a nightmare for them. My guess is there will be a whole series of oops, we forgot, we thought someone else told you and so on or flat out still releasing what they want, when they want and conveniently always when something someone else is doing gets overshadowed.

After enough of this, probably that's when the hammer will drop and it will be hard. We will then hear about how much they gave up to return, they were not welcomed and now they are victims again. recognition of a pattern?
The word that is written in Harry's wife's heart in fiery letters is REVENGE! She hates this situation because she has failed in everything she has tried and the fault is never hers. So whose fault? Well Catherine's of course for she has everything Harry's wife thinks aught to be hers "the great beauty and intellect of the Royal Family baroness Dumbarton's"!!

When the sussexes organize children's parties it is important that the Wales children don't eat any cake or drink any juice. William and Catherine are going to go through difficult times.

I wonder if the King is very jealous of William as he was of Diana. And if that is behind some of the happenings now.

Only a mother like Harry's wife even considers placing a 7 years old and a 5 years old Americans without any experience about the culture in an English school and expects the tots to adapt without any problems. If she goes around and demands the titles to be used the children will pay dearly. That woman is a sadist!

We all remember when Harry told how he constantly got anxiety attacks in the plane to London. But we do remember very many things he has said during the last six years because like his spouse he has never stopped moaning, complaining and wringing his hands. So much that it is difficult to think what new things there could be to publish for the gluttonous trash papers that are the sussex duo's best friends.

That is the problem with this charming couple. Everything they have said and all the clear lies they told one finds on one's computer for internet never forgets. A very juicy article of Jan Moir in Daily Mail today (Friday) about "our favorite jampreneur" is an excellent and very funny and biting example of that all.

it's been said that she's been offered a plum role playing herself - altho' to me there's an inherent contradiction in that. Were it a truthful portrayal, would she recognise herself? TBH, I doubt if she's capable of playing herself, except when she was on duty as a royal duchess.

I was wondering about *'s legal status in the UK. I thought she might have had a spousal visa. This is what I found on Reddit.

"Shortly after the wedding, Meghan applied for a Spousal Visa, which would allow her to live in the UK for two years. She would [theoretically] then apply for another two-year renewal and, after five years, apply for Leave to Remain, which would provide permanent residence. The original visa became void because she moved to the United States in March 2020. The Duchess travels on a U.S. passport, and with the ETA, she can stay in the UK up to six months, but cannot merely leave the country for a short period and then return for another six months.

Being married to a British citizen does not automatically give a spouse the right to live in the United Kingdom, even if one is married to a member of the Royal Family."

She'll have to start all over again. Did Harry register Lily's birth with the British consulate in LA in order to get her a British passport? Interesting developments ahead.

Yes, it seems they are fleeing the US. I was reading a transcript of a Lady C video (quicker than watching) and the duo have to flee due to Harry falsifying his immigration papers and other supporting documents. This stems from the fact that Harry didn't mention his drug use. Added to that, they are going broke.
The next few months are going to keep the press busy.
I play all Lady C's videos with 1,75 speed because her speech drives me nuts.

Oopsie daisies! Harry's wife has made herself a real golden girl in the eyes of the political elites of USA if we can believe Lady C. The baroness is such talented and INTELLIGENT woman, don't you think?

They have truly screwed up their lives, Harry and his wife. If the Royal Family know what the true parentage of Harry's children is how will they solve the problem without seeming to solve the problem. The Family can not trust that the baroness will not tell the truth after the divorce if she wants to shame the Family and Harry horribly and humiliatingly.

Who believes that our hero Harry is going to grow a brain now that he will be back in the land of his fathers?

'Meghan Markle’s return to acting has reportedly been ‘cancelled’ amid criticism over plans to cast her in the third season of The Gentlemen.

Royal author Tina Brown claimed last night that an offer for the Duchess of Sussex to appear in Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix show had been withdrawn after the reaction in Britain became too ‘intense’.

Ms Brown said: ‘I learned that the casting of Meghan Markle has been withdrawn. The backlash was so intense it became untenable to go forward.’'

Oh dear. It couldn't happen to a nicer person. Will this drive the message home that she (in particular)/they is/are not wanted?

I think that the pressure against prince William to accept his "baby brother" back to the "fold" (whatever that means) is ridiculous.

I have had in my family a situation where my brother called our older sister and told her that he was planning to take his own life and our sister said to him "I am busy, I have no time now" and he killed himself. Fifteen years later my daughter chose a divorce in a very difficult situation and the same sister chose to destroy my baby's life by taking care that my daughter lost her very young children, my grandchildren for 3 and 1/2 years. My sister knew NOTHING about that situation and she was all the more ready to destroy the life of a 3 years old and a 5 years old just to play her very sick power games. The court gave those children back to my daughter but it has taken almost seven years to repair the destruction and plant the love and trust back to my beloved boys.

How many of you would give me the advice that ok she has done very dirty tricks twice BUT now is the time to forgive her?!?

With prince William it is not just a family matter but his position as a future HEAD OF STATE where he must decide whether he wants two psychologically sick people screwing around his personal life and the state business. This is a sick game British press is playing!!

abbyh said…
I am sad to read you have had this happen to you and people you love from someone who behaved so. I wish I could offer a hug.

And, also for all the rest of us here who have someone who behaves in a similar fashion in our lives. (sadly more common than we all wish) For me, it felt isolating in that others just didn't seem to see it. Or want to see it.

As for the push of reconciliation, may those who push that agenda, I don't exactly wish for similar people to come into their lives and create such turmoil but life, karma, call it what you like/believe in, eventually it will come into their life in some format. Might not be family but at work or a "friend". You and I just won't likely be around to see or hear of it.

Until you have lived through it, it is easy to look down on someone who is not the creator of said turmoil and think they ought be the one to reach out, make the amends, be the bigger person and move on as if nothing bad happened.

We can only hope they learn from it (and think an apologetic thought as to how they criticized the BRF in print/SM for not reuniting with the couple when they returned).

Between us, I think it will become more obvious to the world that the couple is being held at arm's length when they are not invited to family/former close friends various activities/ceremonies. Before it was more about well they are so far it doesn't make sense for them to fly all that distance for just this. Now they are geographically close and it will be very very clear. Or that people who knew both brothers have chosen William for assorted reasons - one of which is, he lives the family/work life/values which matches theirs (and not just he will be king). Oh, the couple might get invited to visit X or Y but ... unlikely any one from the family will be there at the same time or it will be choreographed like the recent less than an hour visit.

And, after William ascends, then even those niceties will go on the chopping block.
Maneki Neko said…
@alianor

I am so very sorry about what happened to your brother and your daughter and grandchildren. It is very hard to fathom how some people can behave. I hope you have now found peace.

I think William is mindful of his role as future king but also wants to protect his family, particularly his wife and his father, from the maleficent witch. I don't think he is in a forgiving mood at the moment, the Sussexes having presented their very sudden return as a fait accompli to the BRF. I am not sure he will ever be in a forgiving mood, I can't see it in the near future, even if the duo toe the line.
A poll published in the Mail found, apparently, that only 4% of respondents thought Wills should make the first move. That's cheering.
Forgiveness demands evidence of penitence, then it's a matter of the injured party letting go of the hurt and resentment for their own good. It doesn't require the fatted calf or profession of undying brotherly love or pretending to oneself or the world that it never happened.
I think W has got it about right. Can a future king gloss over his people being slandered and libelled with lies and untruths by someone who's just as as likely to do it again, or whose wife may continue to do it.
Interesting thought here:

They might well want to document and film everything but unless they do it covertly, they won't be able to. No one will say a word Infront of them if the duo are filming. They can make a film, with or without Netflix (I don't think Netflix are interested any more) but then that's the end. First of all, there won't be much to say/write or film after that but then that's the end where the BRF is concerned. There will be the architects of their own demise if they want to film anything. Eight years after the wedding, the public at large, never mind the BRF, is now wise to their shenanigans and won't be taken in so it won't work (IMHO).

The Horner's might want to get close to Royalty, or Temu royalty, but I can't see what's in it for the duo. Still, it might be nice for them to find people who seem to like them. What kind of a king in our modern times lives his life with an attitude towards his subjects that: "Either you like what I want and do or you cry and sob and like what I want and do" ?

Eh, I doubt he is the one driving the bring you must accept my son back into the full family work sphere.

If he was, wouldn't he have had a longer and not private meeting?

Clued people in with the latest change in plans from his son and wife? Make plans to help ease their way?

I suspect the son spoke in generalities with his father about maybe we might come back. Might have even had several mentions over the years even so the concept was known option. The palace, who plans for funerals years in advance + adjusts them as people come and go, would probably have had some thoughts about how to respond if and when it would happen.

But the sudden pivot to NOW is the timing release is a them thing. The sudden we are leaving racist UK. We are leaving Canada before the borders close. The faux tours of we will be here. There. Comes off as no warning to anyone, including the palace. (Gosh it sounds almost like everyone else is expected to jump to a sudden change in plans.) And that, isn't how the palace/men in grey help keep things smoothly running. To pull it all off, the king would need their fully committed help the same way he would need it from his wife - the immortalized tarred and feathered object in print without any sort of apology in sight. And William and Catherine. Edward and Sophie. And Anne. (plus her being able to follow the directions of how to make it succeed this time when she had a habit of going rogue last time which everyone remembers)

Who is pushing the idea of how the UK now needs to embrace his son/wife? cui bueno? Think long and hard about this. They do. They benefit the most. Any one else? not really. not at all. Tarnishes more like it.

They might know that on some level the numbers are stacked against them but ... IF they come out with the appearance that he has the backing of his father then they appear stronger and more powerful. Powerful enough to take on William (hiss, hiss). The people (sheeple following the king because of tradition). And, if still believe that the King has power to order people to do what he wants (aka like Henry VIII) for things like order security upgraded to William's level, then he surely will be able to make the people accept him and his wife and the inviskids (no questions answered about them or the LOS).

More importantly, it will sow turmoil and lots of ink - now, later and if the other plans don't work (ie the people rise up against the couple) proving yet again how racist the country is when you live for victim status and needing another reason to leave - again. Double win.

Even if the palace had a couple days warning before the public, I don't then we can go dotted line to that means the king is plotting to force his kid/family back into this unwanted family/monarchy/public space.

As much as I think the king wished he could see his son, the kids more frequently, I think the king benefited health wise by having that all living far and not a couple of hours away. If the king hasn't figure that out already, he will in the near future when all the demands begin. (ie times zones have their benefits sometimes).

I don't think there is credible evidence that the king is the driver behind this idea. Someone saying that the king wants this is not the same as the King actually saying/doing things to make this happen. In keeping with the never explain, never complain it would be rare for there to be a clarifying announcement of nope.
It was only the die-hard Diana devotees who felt that Camilla was being forced onto them, to judges from conversations I had with them. Once the Queen was known to be favourable towards her, most people respected her judgement.
Many of us knew by then that Diana wasn't the innocent she professed to be, people were more realistic. I, for one, long accepted that it was she who had strayed first. As long ago as 1989/90 I heard a story from a freelance photographer who'd chanced on her out on the town in the small hours with a chap who clearly wasn't Charles and was obviously not `just a good friend'...
I remember my heart sank when the announcement that Charles was getting married (Hooray!) was immediately followed by the mention of his fiancee being only 19 at the time (Oh dear...).

If you are so lucky (!!) that a hostess puts you next to the baroness at her dinner table what do you expect? Sparkling conversation? Or utterly boring time when she tells the story of a dish soap firm she used to change the world for a better place?

She hated the social world of Harry's and never could reach any success in it because she lacks all the manners and the sophistication of the civilized world. She is just a cheap tart who cannot stop talking about herself and that's it.

It will be interesting how Harry is going to react to all that because the female wiles of his wife are a thing in the past so he hardly sees La Vie En Rose with her any more.

I've said it before and doubtless I'll say it again, terrorists attack people who are likely to be mourned, whether they are ordinary citizens or high-profile folk, whose departure from this life will upset lots of others.
I reckon the Harkles are pretty safe...

OKay said…
I don't believe that's what's happening at all. And Charles never forced Camilla on anyone. She simply stepped up and supported her man, quietly, for many years. That is not what's happening here at all.
Very true, terrorists would not like a situation where the whole UK would be decorated with beautiful colourful buntings and the people (at last) would be dancing in the streets because of Harry and mrs!!

What happens to the baroness when H stays in the UK and she tries to get work in the US and does not get ANY for people always wanted Harry and not her. Will she totally lose it? (A delightful thought)

Good point. She does not have the intelligence to be able to adapt to that world (BRF). If you think that Catherine had some problems from William's upper class friends, who mocked her for being middle-class and her mother for being a former flight attendant ("doors to manual"), then what hope has *? Catherine was intelligent enough to rise above it and, obviously, never to rise to the bait and/or discuss the situation and complain. * is from a very different culture and milieu and is incapable of making an effort to adapt. Never the twain shall meet.

Spare a thought for Spare and his strumpet, they 'have received contact details for a police liaison officer – but been told their security protection will not be raised beyond this, reported ITV News.'. A tad embarrassing, I'd say.
It seems to be irrelevant whether the King wanted Harry home or not because he is going to hate it when the sussex circus is robbing the first pages of papers of His Majesty's work and only write about his younger son and his wife. Because one thing has been true since the beginning of times: leopards do not change their spots. We can all sit back and wait when the first story comes out: "The King has been racist against his own Daughter-In-Law!!!"

(Well, she has said it earlier and it caused a proper and juicy scandal so why not repeat it when she needs something?)

So the sussex duo has lied to their children that they are staying in the UK just one year "as a holiday". In this world there is nothing as filthy as parents who lie to their children. Harry is a lousy father if he really took his son from his home country away for 10-15 years by buying his acceptance with a lie. (Neil Sean)

The repercussions of the sussex duo's homecoming are already shown in William's personal life for the "royal expert" Fitzwilliams is already telling us whose business it is to repair William's relation to Harry. Daily mail's article enumerates all their friends that can be possible go-betweens for the two. I must admit that I find this utterly immoral. It is nobody's business but the persons themselves'.

Besides how many of those people are ready to offer their contact with the future king of the realm that they know to be a decent and honourable guy and friend just to hop in a bandwagon with a traitorous and treacherous man who has sold his whole family several times for money?

But it is quite clear this is going to be ugly.

'The Duke of Sussex has returned to the UK 'just as angry' as he was when he left six years ago, friends claim.

. . . But a source told The Mail on Sunday: 'Friends who caught up with Harry were expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility.

'Instead, there will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact. He is still in that Oprah mindset.

'They were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family, is still frustrated by the 'men in grey suits' who surround his father, and still expects an apology.'

. . .The source said: 'Friends who have spoken to him since he returned to the UK were surprised to discover that the record has not changed one bit since 2020 and Megxit. It's shocking and quite sad.' It echoes what Harry said in an interview in 2023 when he said: 'What I'd really like is some accountability. And an apology to my wife.'

The source added: 'He certainly won't be issuing a public apology for his actions and he's whipped himself up all over again and Diana's legacy is a factor in this.'' (DM)

I wonder then why the Harkles are back if they are in such a frame of mind. They just don't get it if they expect an apology. The BRF do not owe them anything, least or all an apology. They and we, the British public, are the ones who need an apology.
It seems more and more that the time between the death of Elizabeth II and the beginning of the reign of William V will be remembered in the British history as "The Harry Years".

Charles is no leader and his time seems to be a one of invisibility and trivial family politics.

I believe that nothing is so humiliating to Harry's wife than the fact that we all know that they are "poor" and that is why they arrived with a huge jet and drove away with three cars and they feed stories to papers about a new very expensive house while keeping the Montecito mansion and the house in Portugal. She is somehow very childish in her bombastic lies and her belief that we all take this seriously. For heaven's sakes she has big money tied to her fast rotting spreads in some industrial warehouse! They are in a big trouble!

I must admit that I am extremely curious what exactly have each and every one done. Has Harry a list with details for each individual?

Funnily enough, I was in a shopping centre today and walked past Penhaligon's (perfume shop). They have a new perfume whose name was written on the window, 'The manoeuvres of the Baroness'. The title immediately brought to mind a certain Baroness, especially next to the word manoeuvres. The Baroness in question is fictional but is 'Described as a master strategist and collector of secrets, the fictional Baroness quietly rules high society from the shadows.'. Our Baroness is not quite a master strategist and doesn't rule high society but she certainly manoeuvres in the shadows. Penhaligon's were not inspired by *, though.
abbyh said…
I saw that and wondered who needs 9 bedrooms. Ok, you have the 2 kids, a nanny, housekeeper/cook, if they don't share a bedroom, that's 2 more. Who visits her? maybe her mother but who else?

Allegedly she also wants a film studio set up so she can edit for her social media. Film editing is not something I know anything about but what all do you need besides a high powered computer and a couple of screens as days of needing a dark room for developing are no longer mandatory for photos but only for purists? I am familiar with a craft corner (I get to use the dining room table for sewing). Growing up, if we expressed interest in something, my parents made us slog through on beginner level equipment and lessons to see if we would continue with it to make buying the better equipment worth while.
I wonder whether the King understands that Harry is not a sane person and when his life in the UK will not be easy he may need professional medical help and care. If Harry thought that his pa would give in in everything it was not very intelligent to start with demanding apologies and let his "friends" (?) to tell the papers that he is even more angry than when they left six years ago.

A public mental breakdown of his younger son would be something everyone would blame the King being responsible for. And as he has not done anything to stop Harry's sick tricks during last six years maybe people would be right in their thoughts.

Maneki Neko said…
I forgot the film studio. If she didn't succeed in Hollywood, what is she going to do in the UK in a small film studio? If it is for her social media, is this to showcase her As Ever raspberry or strawberry spread? I can't remember if As Ever is still a going concern. Talking of which, ex BBF Jessica Mulroney has founded 'The Haus of Her, a lifestyle and wellness brand'. I hope it does well. * won't like it.
abbyh said…
I don't know that everyone would automatically blame King Charles for his son's mental health issues. The drugs, the drinking all play a part. Those are choices made not by the king. If one considers that Diana may have had some issues in response to life events she lived and was most unhappy about, then that could also be a factor.

Charles tried to be there and be the best single parent he could be. The son has made it clear that anything which happened is clearly not the son's fault. People usually chose the role of hero in telling their life story (not villain).

What we don't know is what KC has tried in the past in response to what H has, has not done or threatened to do. After all, the report was that he was told repeated by his father that his father was and is not a bank and yet the reports keep mentioning that the king, as his father, needs to step in and give this money or pay for that. It's easy for them to say so when it isn't out of their account. It also helps stir the pot which seems to happen to trail around the couple.

As much as the son lets loose to tell everyone all about what his father, that does not mean that the son is the most accurate of transmitters of information. Especially when the other side does the never explain routine in public. Private is unlikely as the family does not want to read about it in an anti-monarchy paper.

The king cannot win when the papers keep drilling that he is the one who has to welcome, accept and do this without a drop of ink that perhaps the king was not the one who started the son down a less desirable life path - that perhaps the son has some accountability being shirked off.

For Harry to get help for mental health problems, he would first of all have to recognise that there is a problem. He would also need to be away from wifey and her brainwashing. I'm pretty sure this is a case of psychological abuse. It also seems to me that Harry may have thought at some stage, early in the relationship, that being with, better still, marrying, a mixed race woman was a good FY he was happy to give his family. The Palace may have been good at covering his antics but Harry pre * seemed happy enough and never spoke about losing his mother. Post *, he was a very different person. I'd say remove * and get him specialist treatment.
Girl with a Hat said…
I remember someone (his nanny or Princess Diana) saying that Harry "was born angry".
I think that's actually what the problem is. He may have issues with his genetics where he produces too much of the anger hormones, and then tries to find a reason why he's angry and blames people who have done him wrong.
There's no forgiveness coming from a person like that, just continuing anger and blame, and maybe even vengeance.
It also would explain his treatment of sex workers and the allegations of violence against them.
He probably requires calming drugs like marijuana because without them, he would be continuously wound up.

Co-sign Maneki's 10:40 am post! The man is literally floundering in a sea of lost identity AND dealing with what he thinks he heard over time from both his parents as to his place in the Family and the Reality that William is the Heir and how if effects Harry and his life. And then there is The Wife. That is a whole other separate issue. KCIII gives the appearance that he will never take away from Harry the titles or his place in the LoS because he is his father and loves him unconditionally. KCIII will not do anything to Harry unless H's actions cross the optics line to the level of Andrew. The next months will be telling. I do wonder what the NHS standards are on involuntary psychiatric holds.....

According to the DM, Harry is planning to make a film about Diana for the 30th anniversary of her death.
'Harry has begun approaching Princess Diana's old friends to take part in a film about his mother, Richard Kay has claimed, in a project the royal expert says will occupy the Prince for his first year in Britain.
. . . ''I am told that one of the reasons Harry's here is to make a television film, his own film, about his mother. I know he has been reaching out to his friends and others who knew her, asking them to contribute. That's going to occupy a lot of his headspace over the next twelve months.'
I'm not sure many of Diana's old friends would want anything to do with his film but this is worrying. Firstly, we'll have Harry's biased view of the situation (mummy was murdered), then presumably William's input does not figure anywhere in this film. Is that what their film studio is for or is it for madam's exclusive use?

@Girl with a Hat: your recent comment about Harry made 100% sense to me. Yes, I too, remember Barbara Barnes, royal nanny to Harry, claiming he was born angry.

I believe there is no person on earth (therapist or friend or spouse) nor medication (legal or illegal) nor situation (job or stay-at-home father or living in UK or Montecito) capable of easing his constant anger, or of disavowing his certainty that everyone (known & unknown to him) is actively out to screw him, trip him up, out to get him and make him fail through zero fault of his own. He attacks his family, royal courtiers, the press, & even publicly accused High Court Judge Mr Justice Nicklin of a "complete and obvious whitewash" after dismissal of the privacy lawsuit.

Harry indulges in his anger which he thinks is valid and righteous, and has explicitly referred to himself as a Dragon Slayer.

I don’t envision any gentle end to this distasteful situation.
Maneki Neko said…
Harry is certainly angry now and has been for a while. I'm still of the opinion that he wasn't angry, or that angry, pre *. He's obviously got a huge chip on his shoulder and is full of resentment. I think * has carefully built up his sense of resentment, to what ends is difficult to say. More attention?Better treatment? He's not acting rationally. Added to that, I think he's also stubborn. All this is exemplified by this sentence in a DT article:
'He continues to believe that he is being denied protection as a form of “punishment” for quitting royal duties and that the delay in responding to his change in circumstances is a form of “game play”.' If he wants to carry on in the same vein, he will end up even more despised and detested by the whole country if not the RF.

So, when does the dirt on Meghan come out?

"This is only hearsay, but in London a Brit socialite who knew her way around money, Europe, royalty told me - and my companion, so I wasn't alone in hearing this - that Meghan was known in the old days. 'She was around the famous playgrounds Europeans visit...and known to be shopping for a rich husband.'" That's a quote from Cindy Adams in yesterday's New York Post . Cindy is old - so old that she interviewed the original Duchess of Windsor. "Who was also American,"  writes Cindy.   "She was not happy afterward. She was tough. I interviewed her. She was constantly looking to negotiate some sort of financial betterment." So, when does the dirt start coming out? How about now. Who will drop the information? Meghan, Harry, and Community Property in California

This is what happens when I take too long to write a post. My original idea - that Meghan and Harry should consider purchasing one of the " cheap old houses " popular on Instagram and fix it up as part of a reality series - seems to have been overtaken by events. Page Six is reporting today that Meghan and Harry already have a house in Santa Barbara, near Oprah and Ellen's pads, and in fact have been living there for at least six weeks. (This is not entirely unexpected; Harry's most recent hostage video had a different background than usual.) "This is the first home either of them has ever owned," writes the couple's PR agent via Page 6. "It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family - to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in." They could probably still be having complete privacy if the couple's PR team wasn't leveraging their real estate news in order to promote the new book "Finding Freed...

New Year (and what's next?)

Another year and what will it bring for them (and us who watch)?   One thing I thought of is control of their image for appearances.  It isn't just that they have lost so many people in such a fairly short time period but who they lost.  The people who advised, handled details to make the events happen - road trips to volunteering.  We've been saying all along that each loss is a ripple of warning towards a potential new hire coming in.  New hires, yes but what about fund raising?  Cash flow?  This, from SMM, is an interesting read: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/1puzsvh/impact_report_990_review_from_a_nonprofit/ Which leads us to money.  Keeping their image engine running costs a lot.  No doubt there are a lot details, paperwork, contracts to negotiate and find new groups to partner with.  Hence the need for a good team. The duo could do some of it or all but for how long?   side note: the peopl...
