Calling All Lawyers

Sentebale is suing  Harry. Exact details are not out there (yet) but we do know they were having severe money difficulties. What we also don't know (yet) how closely Invictus will be following this.  Maybe this will allow them to get out from underneath him (and her) as he is too compromised?

"She's really Interested."

And we have yet another person making the rounds about how she ought to come back to acting, yada, yada, family would likely support this and so on (claims of how good she is). This time it is Eric Roberts who worked beside her (no idea if he was invited to the wedding or not).  Last month or maybe it was the month before there was some other article about being in some movie thing with lots of others.  Her part was for a day or two as I recall. Before that it was in a clip for Clevr Brands.  Don't know if you can count the various Netflix shows or not.   When I think of where she lives, it's not near the centers of where things are really happening in acting world.  That would make it hard to get back into that kind of circulation.  Montecito reminds me of Frogmore.  Each was out there and far from a lot of other action, nightlife, edgy events.  But what do I know?  I don't live near either and have no real direct knowledge. ...

Australia - Rinse and Repeat or Make a Doorstop of the Results

I've been thinking long and hard about the upcoming trip Down Under.  I don't think it will likely go as planned.   Last time it was all about how they out did everyone - even his father and mother in that place.  The numbers were off the charts (not really - compare to the Pope and so on).  This is where the idea that they could outshine the Family and so the Family was in fear of their power, awe and draw seems to have originated. Back then, they were the new, shiny and she's pregnant.  Now, things have changed.  Life has moved on. They would no longer be there on a British Royal Tour.  William and Catherine, would be.  Big difference.   I think a couple things.    One is that the numbers of people out to look/greet them will be much lower all the way around for the Duo.  Not official so less flashy, probably not likely to do as well as last time when they were unknown AND not as great as for William and Cathe...

Whiplash?

Andrew has been arrested and the police are looking about.  Not certain what could still be around but it is what it is. What I wonder about is how this could open up the flood gates to how to handle the California bunch. Thoughts?

Romance in the AIR - Expectations and Then there is Reality

I read somewhere an observation of parallels of Harry and his mother - of how they both appeared to become bored after they no longer had their official duties.  And how they seemed adrift as to what to do next  with themself . I started thinking then of how Diana (probably) had certain expectations of what love, marriage would be (maybe he loves me, only me and not her, happy ever after and who knows but perhaps that marriage is all sweetness, light, happy and joy like in a romance novel) ... which leads to expectations of what marriage might have been for Harry's wife.  Or even Harry. Oh boy.  I don't recall marriage comments but do remember how he talked and wrote about how he wanted for his kids to be able to grow up with their cousins, second cousins in what sounds like how he grew up playing with family, doing the annual this and that with family (minus his parents not getting along).  A vestige of his childhood he wanted to repeat, pass on as import...

New Year (and what's next?)

Another year and what will it bring for them (and us who watch)?   One thing I thought of is control of their image for appearances.  It isn't just that they have lost so many people in such a fairly short time period but who they lost.  The people who advised, handled details to make the events happen - road trips to volunteering.  We've been saying all along that each loss is a ripple of warning towards a potential new hire coming in.  New hires, yes but what about fund raising?  Cash flow?  This, from SMM, is an interesting read: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/1puzsvh/impact_report_990_review_from_a_nonprofit/ Which leads us to money.  Keeping their image engine running costs a lot.  No doubt there are a lot details, paperwork, contracts to negotiate and find new groups to partner with.  Hence the need for a good team. The duo could do some of it or all but for how long?   side note: the peopl...

Splitting Hairs on Why?

Loud noise about how Harry "won" a review of his protection status - although the article (DM so far) was that it may/was initiated by the Home Office.   Maybe?  Maybe not. One of the comments was that actually it was part of a periodic review to see if the safety status has changed.  It's been, what, five years? That would be logical.  Status can change and therefore their interpretation of safe/not safe would need to be adjusted.  Timing is good. The comments are running heavily in the No, don't give him an upgrade.  Hot and heavy there.  But ... sometimes I like to read the opposite comments to see how they phrase/look at the world.  And, how their supportive numbers are running.  Only a fraction supportive when you compare to don't give in group.  Vocal?  yes.  Massive?  no.

Subtle Tide Shifting

In the past, it always kind of bothered me that the media tended to call Catherine as Middleton.  This even when they had been married for years.  On some level, I felt perhaps they had missed notice of the wedding or something?  Kind of spitefully mean middle school response.   I just saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHtWxSvzGRo Very interesting about why it doesn't apply to Meghan. Think back through the history of antagonism towards the media - Harry with his past (photos, comments) and then bringing her in (where it was more she controlled output + good for her plans of expansion) to now the situation where she no longer could.  Full stop.  And, not a whiff of apology for the most part.   Notice that it follows other stories of how the BBC have been rather coming face to face about past less savory actions to get what they wanted (lies to Diana and so on).   I think we are seeing a shift in how reporting will hand...

New Concept?

Talk going around that the next direction for her business might be into make up.  This may be part of the discussion(s) with Kris Jenner since make up as a concept is part of the overall Kardashian business plan.  It did give Kylie $1.2 Billion when it sold 51% to Coty.  Kim sold part of her SKKN (20% for $200 Million) to Coty as well.  As of June neither was known to be happy about how they felt the direction each brand was being managed.   Make up can be very lucrative.  Quite.  Forbes has an article of just how lucrative it has been for some people.  People like Hailey Bieber (Rhode to elf for up to $1 billion but the deal has other founders and is said to be stretched over years).  I also saw a list (Forbes) almost 30 people who are either billionaires or mega millionaires through make up.  Some inherited the business (think the various Lauders).  But is that a realistic (meaning good) idea, now? I'm not quite so cer...

Plot Twist!

Well, that is a plot twist - Prince Andrew is giving up titles - announced by the Palace. Dude is willing enough to face the future without that after his name.  Say what you will but he is being honorable about this (we may not ever know the details of what it took to get it).  Is there something else to come out we don't know about (yet) or is it just it has taken this long to drag out negotiations between the various parties to ink a deal?  Time will tell. For him, I wonder how it will play out about Royal Lodge.  A place he has been totally unwilling to leave.  Or how it will play out for the future of his daughters.  Sarah - let's not go there.  It is a real twist already.  We don't gloat here. BUT what about how it could impact the duo?   Well, well, well. Takes the whole racist claim off the table (and into the nearest deep ocean never to be taken seriously again by most who might have bought it previously).  Expect it ...

Project Thaw or the arrival of the Next Ice Age Continues?

So I read Richard Eden's article in the DM about how recent events from the couple are actually part of a calculated plan to change how the family views them and ... how the UK views them ... and then they can come back yadda yadda and * will  "... ‘Meghan will return to Britain before the year is out,’ the friend tells me, adding jokingly that she will be ‘bearing humble pie’. It remains to be seen whether ‘bearing humble pie’ - and eating it, presumably - is sufficient to placate the Royal Family or the British people.... ". He ends with a comment about how he would not accept this unless she apologizes to the various BRF for hurting them. Ok.  He also mentions a specific person (1, count it one) Yvette Cooper, who  is new to the job as Foreign Secretary who specifically is open to him, presumable * as well, being more active in the British spheres.  What more active might or might not be is not defined. What we don't know: Is how well she knows him and fo...

Clean Conscience and All That

H doesn't think he aired any dirty laundry in Spare or Netflix (or we suppose any of the other sources of what they were thinking or feeling like with the Oprah interview or Omid Scobie's books) according to an article on the Daily Mail.  And, he has a clean conscience.  Difficult but hard truth he was promoting. Really?   He talked of setting up his father driving in a car by a guy in a plane who didn't know it was the Prince of Wales he was ordered by H to follow before being redirected elsewhere.  He talks of how his brother tried to make him acknowledge that * was being disruptive to the staff - physical fighting and his bracelet was broken.  The list goes on and on. No one but he and his wife come out looking good.  They are innocent victims of a modern persecution by his family against them.    In another article was more about what and where there had been some problems between the two couples.  So it doesn't say this ... but...

So ... What really did Happen?

It was about the length of a cup of tea (more or less) but what do you think really happened? I am expecting lots and lots of ink about how the two have reconciled, suddenly all is well between the two and expect unicorns in the garden with elves throwing glitter in the air level of happy walk into the sunset. Full reconciliation?  Are you mad? Have you looked at the definition lately?  It's about settling a disagreement, making someone accept something unpleasant or restoring friendly relations.  And, in that short a time period?  get real.  It is about enough time to ask how you like your tea now adays, ask about your health (times two for both sides), make some polite conversation about weather, show a couple of photos of the kids and sip the tea. Probably stilted conversation with prearranged topics as well as ones which would be banned like security.  Or a complete return to the UK (with support from the King).  Also minders present before, ...

Summer Doldrums

The definition of doldrums is about stagnation, inactivity and or depression. Well, they aren't inactive.  We don't know about depression.  Stagnation?  well maybe as it refers to not flowing or moving.   They sorta have some stuff going on - her second season (side note: uproar about Chrissy Teigen and bullying) and he's coming back to the UK for something but other than that?  Not much is shaking and baking from them. However, there is an ever so slight uptick on articles which point out something negative.  Even on both sides of the pond.

But Really, Could they?

Richard Eden has an interesting article in the DM which references an article in The Guardian about the necessity of the passport applications for the kids as including HRH and the last name of Sussex. Why?  Well supposedly this is all because they want to allow the kids to decide for themselves to become a working royal or continue to stay in private life. The main focus becomes how this bewilders the Palace considering how difficult the parents found it all and then left.  As well has his thoughts that this is about maintaining royal aura ("links" is his term) before ending with how a push for the daughter might be as the American Princess might be helpful to her mommy's business. What I wonder about is:  What or where did they get the idea that the kids would be welcomed into the fold and become working royal? I am not convinced that was ever an option once they stepped back. America doesn't do British history quite the same way or to the same detail.  Manne...

Oh Look! It's been 7 years.

Oh my gosh.  Really? Seven years?  Apparently the appropriate gift is copper because it is warm, conducts heat and has energy.  Who knew? I had sort of noticed a slight uptick in stories about them, the leading up to the wedding and so on but that it was today didn't really register.  At least for me.  Sorry.   What was noticeable is that the stories were negative.  Harry was close to his grandmother and then he lost that.  The tiff about visiting with the hair dresser.  Or the chef berated over alleged egg (as if a good chef (let alone one who worked for HM) would want to secretly put something in which might be an allergy).   The song in my head is from the Grateful Dead about the part about ... what a long strange trip it's been. Where has the time flown?

And now what direction to head in?

Well the court case has decided against him.  And are asking for him to pay the court costs.   Ouch on many levels and one of them is in the pocketbook. Decisions, decisions. If he doesn't try to take it farther, he may be able to increase the chances he could see his father again.  or not. As much as KC may have wanted to see his son, he couldn't afford to (with or without observers).  The king needed to appear neutral in the decision.  Full stop.  It was about sending a message to the people making the decision, the public, his other son/wife/kids and ... his own wife about his values, how he needs to respond - which is following the lead of his mother, being neutral in decisions of what is best for the united kingdom.  Kingdom above family as much as you love them. With the never explain, the king would have quite the problem of how to handle things if somehow there was a release that he was trying to sway the decision (even if he said no...

Perfection in Daily Life Or Not

Decades ago, trying emulate Martha Stewart was all the thing.  It was a lifestyle of just the right furniture, linens, towels, bedding.  I learned about furniture restoration and peonies.  Everything was always just so.  It was always the perfect never a crumb showing or drop of blueberry pie filling falling on the table cloth.  It was silver, not stainless.  It was about using cloth napkins with rings instead of paper ones.  It was how to do something, make something and be some one who lived a refined life far above the hoi polloi of being common.  I did find cutting paper to the size of each picture really did make it easier to figure out where to hang it. Didn't have kids so it was much easier to create a series of perfect moments.  With kids, they need food and now so dainty, crafted small portions with just so moments tended to go out the window.  A lot of things became more about real daily life with little or no resemblance to po...

Adventures in Starting a Business

I admit, I made a mistake.  I thought it was a vision board, not a mood board at first.  On some levels being a mood board and not a business plan may actually show more window dressing and even less planning and thought for the business. The photo(s) of the board drew a lot of criticism of too forced looking to be real and similar.  And that is true.  It is, I suspect, that influencer look influencing how the just so perfectly curated look that influencers spend a lot of time and effort - to look effortlessly.  Most small business offices I have been in never looked curated.  Messy was more like it.  I have worked in offices with positive, uplifting posters (which no one really talked about - they filled blank wall space). But in the real world of business, there is nothing technically wrong with nice positive affirmations.  We can all use some positive pep talk.  But it isn't a business plan.     Yeah, making positive stateme...
